Special Operator Lucas Shipley thought his troubles were past him, when he discovers they've only just begun. Recently separated from his wife of five years, he gets some unwelcomed news. He thought his living arrangement, with four other separated or divorced buddies from SEAL Team 3, was temporary. Now, he understands he has to move on with his life.
Marcy Gelland is one of the smartest, most successful realtors in San Diego County. She's hired by Lucas' soon-to-be ex-wife to help her liquidate their joint holdings and help orchestrate a speedy departure from Lucas' life. Based on what Marcy's been told, Lucas deserves any amount of pain she or her client can dish out to him.
But when they are left alone together in the remote Northern California woods, they ignite a personal bonfire that threatens to burn down the whole forest. Marcy is forced to see she has been misled.
Amidst the backdrop of hardened bachelor SEALs with their unsolicited, anti-long- term relationship advice, and a criminal gang operating nearby, Lucas must do what he's always done and never gotten proper credit for: be the hero that saves the day.
He llegado hasta el 74% y lo dejo. Esta historia no tiene nada de romántica... solo un par de conversaciones y una noche juntos entee los protagonistas y nada creíble ... Creo que es la primera vez que pongo 1⭐ a un libro
ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review
There are three sides to every story- yours, theirs and the truth!!! And this sentiment and message is the main emphasis in the book SEAL Brotherhood: Lucas by Sharon Hamilton. This is my first book that I have read from this author and it won't be my last. Ms. Hamilton was able to integrate layers of steam, sexiness, romance, angst, and suspense into the story-line.
Right off the opening pages, I was SOLD!!! Who wouldn't want to read a book about hot sexy NAVY SEALS!!!!! Special Operator Lucas Shipley is shocked when he is served divorced papers from his wife after five years of marriage. He thought his issues with his wife could be reconciled but his wife wasn't having it. Lucas could embark on a dangerous secretive mission but he never expected that he would have to face an uphill battle of his marriage. When his wife served him papers, she wanted to settle the financial aspects of their marriage. Marcy Gelland is hired by Lucas's wife to handle their real estate assets. She has been told by the wife that Lucas is a manwhore and a manipulator. But when Marcy and Lucas finds themselves alone in Northern California, she finds Lucas is none of those things. Soon an electric chemistry begins to heat up between the two. Will this hero find himself getting his second chance at love?
Overall, I enjoyed this quick, steamy read that had a bit of thriller suspense thrown into the mix. Did I love the characters? I am honestly not sure about the relationship of Marcy and Lucas. I felt their relationship was so insta-lust/love and they really just about jumped into bed right off the meeting. I wished the author laid more of a groundwork as to why this couple had such a strong connection to one another. I also wished the hero, Lucas made more of an effort to want to see his kids.
love Ms. Hamilton's Seal Series. This may be the first book that I did not give a 4 or 5 Star. The first book in the new Series, Band of Bachelors/Seal Brothers is about Lucas and Marcy.
Lucas Shipley is a Seal and Marcy Gelland is a real estate sales person in San Diego. Lucas has been married for 5 years with 2 children. His soon to be X-wife, Connie, is dysfunctional, self absorbed, narcissist, and bi__ with such anger spilling out at all times. The children's reaction is to cry and be scared. Children should not have to endure such treatment. One of Connie's comments was "she wants her life back and a NANNY". That says it all.
Typically in Ms. Hamilton’s books, the two characters get to know each other a little longer than 5 minutes before jumping into bed, but, Lucas and Marcy do just that and he actually asks her to marry him the next day.... ..on his way to meet up with his seal team in order to go to Tennessee. What? I know that romance books have a lot of love at first site, but this one was a little too fast, in my opinion. Lucas was just served his divorce papers recently and the ink isn't even dry.
From that point on, these characters are not physically together again until the end of the book. Lucas is in Tennessee with his Seal team observing a terrorist camp. After Marcy is fired for sleeping with her client, Lucas, she tells him and he acts like a jerk so, she calls off the relationship. I guess this relationship, which was 1 night, didn't have much love or understanding.
Marcy decides to go back to Northern California to her Friend Devon's, in order to regroup. Marcy is soon captured by another terrorist camp leader. She endures some crazy and abusive things. Here is the rub for me.... instead of Lucas and his Seal team coming in and saving Marcy, she is on her own. What? I thought the idea of these books were for the Seal team to save the people they love? Instead Lucas and his Seal team are in Tennessee looking into a Terrorist camp, while there is one in California and they have Marcy and he doesn't even know about it. It would have made more sense to me if the team went to Northern California and took down this terrorist camp and saved Marcy. I don't understand the entire Tennessee with the Navy Girls soccer team arriving at the closed down government facility where the seal team is staying???
In fact, I can not reconcile the "description" of this book in Amazon, it states: "......... a terrorist training camp operating nearby, Lucas must do what he's always done: be the hero and save the day. But will it be in time to save Marcy?" I don't understand, Lucas does not save the day for Marcy?????????
I also had a few other issues that bothered me:
-Connie Shipley, soon to be x-wife: Lucas is aware that she is not a good mother and that Connie must always be put first before the children. However, he is not fighting to see his children, checking on them, getting an attorney to make sure that he gets visitation, get out of the Seals and get custody, nothing. Instead, he is going after Marcy and the kids are 3rd on the list (Seals, Marcy and I assume the children but there is no action to assume they are even 3rd).
-He protects this country but he won’t protect his own children?
-Marcy thought that Connie handled the children with callous indifference. The definition of callous is: not feeling or showing any concern about the problems or suffering of other people... indifference definition: not interested in or concerned about something. These children will be so screwed up if they remain with Connie. But, it appears that Lucas is indifferent about their welfare too.
-Seals always do the honorable thing and Lucas not taking care of his children and putting them first is NOT honorable. In fact, he wishes that he can be deployed overseas quickly. But.....what about the children if he does deploy for months.
-The book ends and we still don’t know the welfare of the children. What....???? This is a large string to leave hanging. Shoot, this is a rope not a string.
- Now that Marcy is starting a new job selling Real Estate in Northern California, Lucas will have to visit her when he has leave, or he will have to leave the Seals and move. Now, what about the children? He will never see them. They will be left with the horrible mother and he will have no idea of their well being. This move makes no sense given that currently the children are in San Diego, therefore, needs to be wherever they are located. Lucas has never said he wants custody, which would mean he would have to leave the Seals, so I assume he is leaving them with Connie. If he and Marcy make a go of it, they need to be in San Diego together and raising the children together. Even if "they" got custody, the children would have visitations with their mother. I am lost on how to reconcile this move because where the children are located???
Since this is the first in the series "Band of Bachelors", and Lucas was bunking with 4 other guys who are divorced, there could possibly be more divorced Seals with children. I hope all future Seals do the RIGHT THING! The reader should know that all is well and HOW they will be okay. We DO NOT get any good feelings about these children wellbeing. In fact, I want to call Child Services, which means if Lucas doesn't step up to the plate; the little girls will go into foster care. AND, that is NOT the right or honorable thing to allow the children to be put into the system.
The only redeeming quality in the book is that we get caught up with all the other Seal team members that we love and adore from the other seal series; Cooper, Kyle Lansdown, T.J. Talbot, Tyler Grey, Rory Kennedy, Luke Paulsen, Fredo and Armoni Also, we get to visit with Devon and Nick who have the winery in Northern California. This was such a great treat!
I know that no author could ever please all their readers with every book so I will believe that all future books will leave all of us with a “feel good feeling”. In fact, why else do we read so many romance books? We want to go away feeling good. Right?
I honestly haven't read many Romance novels in which the Hero was "Active" in the military, this may have been a first for me. The procedures, the "hows", and the "whys" all were incredibly fascinating and the smattering of PTSD, involving a female officer, in one of the scenes was really well done. One of the POVs being that of an insurgent was very much unexpected and added insight to my knowledge of these types of "Training Camps". Unfortunately there were a couple of things that I really didn't like in this novel. The MAJOR HUGE issue I had with the novel: (because it - to a lesser degree - happened to me) WARNING SPOILER ALERT: how easily Marcy, the Heroine, fell back into a comfortable and robust sexual "encounter" with the Hero after her near gang RAPE experience. Even with the man you love and trust you can't go from being tied up and groped by multiple men and drugged with Heroin and a few hours later blissfully succumb to his loving ministrations without flinching. And did no one think to take her to a hospital regarding the Heroin usage???? Also, the fact that one of her captors inserted his thumb in her anus was never addressed - and again - NO ONE THOUGHT TO TAKE HER TO THE HOSPITAL FOR A RAPE KIT!!! Is SUPER Rage Inducing! SPOILER ALERT OVER!!! The other big issue I had was that I really didn't find the other "Band of Bachelors" very likeable. I know that most likely in their own novels they will have major character growth and become less like horny college boys and stop fathering children everywhere but if Ms. Hamilton would have injected a little gravitas in these future heroes - a little, "You know, sometimes I wish I hadn't screwed up" or "Maybe I should start thinking about making a course change." rather than "well it sucks to be us so let's play a little grab ass with that girl over there." I may look forward to their book a little more. But then again, I am intrigued about how these men, who are seemingly unrepentantly "messed up" can become besotted by a good woman - and conversely how can they possibly attract a woman who will be interested in holding on to them. The other secondary characters are solid, engaging and likable. The ex-wife is a shrew and I'm wondering if ANYONE can get custody of those poor children. Essentially what is bothersome to me - about the Romance portion of this book - bear with me ...The book opens up with Lucas, the Hero, staying with some Navy SEAL buddies until his wife cools off but he is immediately served with Divorce papers. Then the next day, Marcy, who is a realtor, meets him to discuss the sale of the home she shares with his "soon-to-be-ex-wife" and some other property. Lucas is supposed to have never cheated on his wife, but he is charming and women are very attracted to him and he finds women attractive. Marcy has been warned, quite s shrilly by his "soon-to-be-ex-wife", that he is going try to "charm her into bed" and basically tells her all of the things that Lucas likes, and would do, in bed. Weird right - but the ex-wife is loco en la cabeza. Now Lucas is attracted to Marcy, and Marcy is attracted to Lucas but they are both trying to behave themselves except for the occasional double entendre. This meeting occurs the day after he is served his Divorce Papers ... so to me I'm thinking "Pay Back Sex" on Lucas' part. Next day, or so, they both happen to go (separately) to Lucas' hunting cabin that has been in his family for generations that he is refusing to sell, and they give into their emotions and attractions. Then he's called away for duty and rather than wonder is this something real or maybe he's rebounding or worse ... this might be kind of "revenge sex" he might not have been his intention but ... no, no, no.... Lucas wants to leap over going steady to some serious shit relationship status! They've know each other like three days ... MAX!!! Then just before things get "REAL" they have a stupid argument and break-up - BOOM! Just like that. What's up with that?
This novel is from my own personal library which means I bought it therefore it is a honest review.
:::sigh::: Yikes. At the beginning of the book Lucas comes off as a complete and total asshat -- ALL the guys do for that matter. Then he and Marcy meet and WHAM BAM CRASH they are immediately in love and he asks her to marry him....? He has two kids that he never mentions or interacts with throughout the entire book to boot. I mean.........
Special Operator Lucas Shipley’s troubles have just begun and not only will he have to get on with his life he’ll have to do what’s he’s always done and never gotten proper credit for…be the hero that saves the day in this pulse-pounding romance. Sharon Hamilton has once again brought readers a Navy SEAL romance that grips the heart and gets the adrenaline pumping so there was no way that I could put Lucas and Marcy’s story down once I started reading it and their romance was a bit different so it added quite a bit of spice the story and well I really can’t wait to find out which of the Band of Bachelors falls next, especially after all the anti-relationship advice that they gave Lucas.
I enjoyed the story, but I wanted more. I wanted to know more about Lucas, his crazy soon to be ex-wife, and Marcy. This story has instant attraction. I did find it surprising that Lucas is willing to jump into a relationship when he was just served divorce papers. I didn't find the storyline to be the most believable, but it still pulled me in. I got invested in the characters.
I listened to the audiobook. I enjoyed the narrator.
I have read and enjoyed several of Sharon Hamilton's SEAL series. However, I felt that this one was missing a few elements that just seemed to unrealistic for me. I know romance novels aren't necessarily realistic. And sure the insta-love between Lucas and Marcy could be considered unrealistic but that wasn't my issue. While Marcy is held captive she is given several doses of heroin and sexually molested by several men. Then she escapes and immediately she's having sex with Lucas. I mean within hours! No mention of going to a hospital for treatment or even any residual side effects from either the heroin or the abuse. It was skipped over like it never happened but yet it was a big part of the reason she was held captive. And I think had this issue been addressed and I'm not even saying in detail, actually the author could have skipped it by saying something like six months later, the book would have been much better. Otherwise the remainder of the story was enjoyable even if the terrorist plot was all too believable.
I love a Navy SEAL!! Lucas is not having a good month! He honestly thought that his wife was going to ask him to come back home but I have to tell you if I was married to Connie I wouldn't want to come back home. When Connie decides to serve him with divorce papers and then sell all of the houses that he owns he meets Marcy. Marcy has been forewarned about Lucas. Connie has told her all about his charming ways but right from the start Marcy sees tings might not add up. First Connie wants to sell two pieces of property that was Lucas' prior to marriage and he doesn't want to sell.
Marcy goes up to a hunting that the couple owns so she can appraise it only Lucas has decided to get away for the weekend. Things get heated between them and they spend most of the weekend together. Which would have been great except Lucas is called in for a mission. That is the beginning of things spiraling downhill. Everything that could go wrong does, starting with Connie finding out about Marcy and Lucas. Then Lucas is an a**, Marcy loses her job, there is a kidnapping, a rescue, you know just another day in the life of a Navy SEAL!
The story is great and although I wanted to punch Lucas a couple of times he is a great guy. Marcy is wonderful and even though she is thrown into new waters she handles herself well. The other Navy SEALS are funny and a great supporting cast although Devon and the Navy Women's Soccer Team seem to be the only great women. The others are witches!! There were a couple of things that bothered me and that is why I only gave it 4.5 stars. First, I REALLY wanted to Connie get hers! I mean this witch deserved it in the worst sort of way. She is a horrible person and an even worst mother. Second, Lucas doesn't see his children the entire book. I know it is because Connie won't let him but that bothered me. He does want to see them because he mentions them. All in all though it is a great read!
I received this book for free from in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was first published at Blushing Reads.
I have no idea why this book got the amount of 4 and 5 stars it did. The SEALS that live together seem only interested in strippers, getting drunk, and talking about all the kids they have around the world, illegitimate kids they neither care about nor support. And Lucas doesn’t seem to care about his 2 kids at all. All he seems to care about is getting back to his home, the one he was thrown out of by his wife, and getting back into her bed so she can take care of his erection. Then he meets Marcy and 3 days later he’s in love and asking her to marry him. He was just served with the divorce the day before. Really? We’re supposed to believe he and Marcy fell in love in 3 days’ time?
I kept reading because in-between the stupidity between Lucas, Marcy and Connie the author threw in a story about terrorists, and after reading 147 pages I was hoping she would get back to that soon. I was done with the main characters. And I can’t see myself reading anything else by this author, at least not her SEAL books, unless someone can promise me that the stories are not as silly as this one and the conversations are not as inane as they were in this. I might try her vampire books to see if they’re any better.
Anyway, it did get exciting at about 80%, when everything came to a head with the terrorists and once Marcy was saved. And speaking of Marcy she was one brave woman.
I really liked the other characters: Nick, Devon, Kyle, Jake, TJ, Luke, Rory, Alex, Cooper, Jackie, Fredo and Donna. I did hate Connie, and I really, really hated Moustafa, who got all that he deserved.
There were 2 or 3 sex scenes, without anything that led up to them and once they got back to Nick and Devon’s, after saving Marcy, the rest of the book was sex and the book ended at 95%.
There was swearing and the F-bomb was used 120 times.
As to the narrator: I’ve listened to J.D. Hart a few times and sometimes he reads with emotions and sometimes he doesn’t. He mostly did in this book but he really needs to work on the female voices. They are just too masculine.
This is a very quick read but decent story. A little rushed but Im keeping it. The men are SEALS .. come on who wouldn’t keep it? Never mess with a woman scorned people .. unless you are Marcy. LOVE IT! Lucas thought his situation was temporary, living apart from his wife and daughter, but found out quickly he was staying. Connie, his wife, was a witch .. OMG … just two sentences in the book about broke me. Lucas recounts his 3 year old daughter sobbing into his wife’s legs while Wifey Dearest doesn’t welcome him home. GAH! WITCH!
Marcy Gelland comes in the line of fire when she is hired by Connie to liquidate the joint holdings in the marriage. Connie fills her head with nonsense that Lucas is a predator and is unfeeling. Marcy guards herself until an unfortunate or fortunate event occurs keeping Lucas and she together.
There were some pretty realistic situations here between Connie and Lucas. Dang I have seen this before for sure being married to a Special Ops guy myself. Anyone who knows a military man knows emotions are guarded and always in check. That is how you survive away from home. In the end, women are vicious. LORD! -- You need to know what you are signing up for. I wanted to punch Connie repeatedly …. Yup!
This was a good easy read and the cover -- based on that alone you have a preconceived "stupid stamp" on the soon to be ex-wife's head .. LOL! Yes I attached the cover models to the characters. There was some great banter between friends … more SEALS who Im sure we will hear from again! There are four! YAY! There is also action in this book and Lucas needs to become the protector which is just yummy to think about.
Click this one up for a nasty witch read. I was provided and ARC for an honest review. Review to post on Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets. Thanks Sharon for the chance to read!
I love a good SEAL romance and on the whole, I enjoyed this one! Lucas Shipley may be an ace SEAL able to make the correct decision when it can mean the difference between life or death, but when it comes to women he definitely skipped reading the book. Lucas’ current situation consist of living in the equivalent of a SEAL frat house, sleeping on a couch and expecting a phone call any moment from his estranged wife Connie begging him to come back home, instead he gets served divorce paper and a call from his wife’s realtor Marcy Gelland who's tasked with liquidating their real estate, Marcy coolly requests his John Hancock on the dotted line. When Marcy gets to know Lucas she discovers he’s nothing like the picture that Connie painted of him and when she and Lucas head up to Northern California, they end up in an ill-advised and poorly timed relationship.
When Lucas is summoned back to San Diego, he asks Marcy to retrieve some of his belongings from his remote cabin and a wrong turn close to a nearby terrorist training camp puts Marcy in the crosshairs of the terrorist organization. I really enjoyed the terrorist plotline in this story it was suspenseful, tense and kept my interest in the story high and that helped push this book to a 4-star rating.
What I didn’t like about the story was Lucas' soon to be ex-wife Connie’s character, she’s slightly unhinged and borderline abusive towards their child and it’s never adequately addressed by either Lucas or Marcy, in fact, I don’t recall there being any interaction in this story at all between Lucas and his child.
The production of Sharon Hamilton's audiobooks are always high-quality and J.D. Hart does an awesome job narrating, he really brings character and emotion to the story and his delivery is engaging in this 8-hour audiobook.
I really didn't want to like Lucas in the beginning. He seemed to be like my ex. Oh but like all of Sharon Hamilton's Bad Boys, he won me over. It'd hard not to fall in love with these guys. Lucas and Marcy were an awesome pair and I enjoyed the relationship between the two of them very much! He's my newest book BF :) I always fall in love with her Seals.
I both read the ebook and listened to the Audiobook. I normally enjoy this author's work, but this book was truly not anything like I've read of hers before. The only things similar was the mention of some of Team 3, and then scoping out the terrorist camp.
I felt like there were so many things not explained or left unfinished. I am still somewhat amazed at this book.
According to the description of Marley's character, it was completely out of character for her to make that move with Lucas, especially after everything his soon to be ex-wife did and said. We won't even get into her interactions with Lucas' wife.
I don't know why it was even mentioned that Connie and Lucas had children. Connie seemed to see them as a burden, and Lucas did not appear to have any involvement with them. She spent her time being bitter and angry, dragging the poor kids around, and he behaved like he had no kids at all and no thought regarding them in his future. I kept expecting to read that it was discovered they weren't his kids at all.
Marley is told to be careful from not one, but TWO Navy SEALS, and what does she do but ignore their warnings. When her job is on the line, Marley is so determined to tell the truth (after Lucas warned her not to) because it goes against her character. But falling into instalove with a married man doesn't go against her beliefs.
I initially disliked Lucas. Then he seemed to get better. Then he was an idiot again. Then he got better. As long as he was performing his job, he was ok.
Then there was a whole different storyline with this woman Donna. What purpose did it serve? The conversation she had with Lucas was like some kind code speak. What were we supposed to get out of it?
After everything that happened to Marley, there was no hesitation, no trauma, no residual effects for her to deal with from what I perceived to be a traumatic ordeal? She just moved right along with Lucas like none of the prior issues existed. Unreal!
Also, this was not a complete HEA, so it seemed like it was a minimum, a partial cliffhanger. At least the idiot woman realized there was one major obstacle in there way. There was no resolution in this book.
I could go on and on, but then I would have to do spoiler alerts and I have been disappointed enough by this book.
Lucas Shipley’s wife had kicked him out of the house so he was staying with some other SEALs until she let him come back. Thinking that was going to be any day now, he was shocked when he was served with divorce papers.
Connie, Lucas’ wife, was selling their 3 properties, using Marcy Gelland for the sales. Connie had told Marcy what a manipulator and seducer Lucas was so when Marcy went to appraise a remote cabin they own and found Lucas there, she soon saw he isn’t like that at all. Their chemistry is instant. While this was a very bad time for them to start a relationship, they spent the weekend together. Too bad Lucas is called in for a mission, ending their time together pretty fast.
I liked this story and found some things to very believable such as the terrorist plot but some things were not, like Lucas and Marcy’s instant relationship and them having sex right after she had been sexually abused. The terrorist plot on US soil was so realistically written that it made me realize that it could actually happen. It is a scary thought.
The beginning of this book didn’t give a very good impression of SEALs. The divorced men where sharing a house so we saw the personal side of them. They didn't think much of women and had several children scattered around the world that they didn't know or care about. It was hard to believe that these men could handle terrorist situations so well. Lucas was a good SEAL and knew what to do in life and death situations but he didn’t have a clue how to handle women problems. Or life problems in general. There was quite a range of characters in this story, like Lucas' wife, Connie, who is a self-centered witch and not a good mother. Then there are the dedicated SEALS and good-hearted Marcy.
I really liked this author’s SEAL Brotherhood Series so I was looking forward to reading this. I like SEAL stories so; all in all, this should be great. Right? Well, it was good but not great.
If you like steamy romances with terrorist plots, you will like this story.
This is book 1 of this spin off but you get to know the guys from the SEAL Brotherhood series. I'd read that series before this one.
If you are looking for what this book is about, the author gives a really good write up about it above the reviews.
The hero in this book you can feel is being taken advantage of by his soon to be ex wife. I could imagine saying a few choice sayings to her as she seems like a real bitch. She wants everything she can get from our poor hero. He's done the right things by supplying more than just a house but a mansion, but his ex just wanted more and more. This is what pushes him to say enough. When he gets a call from a realtor which says his wife wants to sell of his property, as his wife's name is not on it, because the ex knows its there and worth something. However, this property has been in the hero's family for generations and no way in hell is it being sold and he's going to fight it. With his dealings with the realtor, they find they are very attracted to one another.
Our heroine is trying to do the right thing by her client especially as she was forced to leave her last position due to her rebutting one of her bosses advances. A friend got her this position and she doesn't want to screw it up. However, when our hero and hero are put together overnight, sparks fly. Immediately they try and backpedal but the damage is done to her career once is starts to get out. The hero is called away on a mission before anything else has been settled. However, our heroine has to deal with the fall out.
The hero and heroine were likable and it was interesting they tried to fight the attraction before giving into it. Even afterwards, they tried to do the right thing by everyone, but the ex was out for blood. The ex I would have struggled with. You really felt for the hero and heroine. It was a good book which kept you reading.
It really is worth reading and getting to know everyone. You'll get caught up with the guys from the other series I mentioned above as well.
I have no idea what world this story took place in but I've read more believable sci-fi. Insta love, Insta sex, unlikable and irresponsible SEAL and frivolous, irresponsible realtor meet the day after he's been served divorce papers (without the required separation?) because his soon to be ex-wife is selling their jointly owned home (uuuuh ILLEGAL!!) and apparently BOOM panties combust even though he's a smarmy shithead. Nevermind he was just hoping 24 hours previously to go home to his wife and kids. A wife and kids he writes off without a blink once he's in Marcy's magical vagina after they run into one another at his hunting cabin. The one he TOLD HER HE DIDN'T WANT TO SELL!!! Why was she even there?? One star for the decent military development of the story, at least that part was somewhat interesting. But holy inconsistency galore in this book because one moment Marcy's wearing trousers and the next he's sliding the zipper on her skirt down. Misspellings and wrong word usage abound so poor editing I guess? What about his kids? Anything? Inconsequential? The bitchy wife...anything? The car crash, abduction, physical and sexual abuse of Marcy, the being drugged intravenously with HEROIN (!!!) followed by her killing a man UP CLOSE and her self rescue were all rushed and THEN there's no ambulance, no hospital, no doctor, no psych eval or rape kit or STD test?!?!? Just her need to bone the loser who put her in this position because of a weekend fling?!?! Nope. Noppety nope nope nope. There's no amount of fictional suspension of belief that's going to keep me from smelling THAT bullshit. And then THE END because why do we need to find out what happens with Connie or the kids or if Gail gets her comeuppance or if Lucas realizes what a shit person/husband/father he is or Marcy realizes she's hitching her wagon to a fence post or who picked up the boys that set fire to the cabin in the truck with the insignia on the door or ANYTHING!!!

3.5 ++ Stars ⭐⭐⭐✨ BAND OF BACHELORS: LUCAS is an overall enjoyable and often suspenseful read. Some may have issues with how the bachelor SEALs are portrayed, but in my experience, the portrayal is fairly spot-on. So, even though you may be disgusted by some of their antics and how they live, it’s a fairly honest picture of their lifestyle.
The characters of Lucas and Marcy had the potential to be a great couple with a little more depth if their relationship had been developed further, especially at the beginning. Their insta-love connection is almost too quick in my opinion. If they’d had just a day together to get to know each other before jumping right into a passionately intimate relationship and “love,” it would have seemed much more natural. I personally think that more is needed to Lucas and Marcy’s story as I feel there are incomplete areas of their life that leave questions. Since I don’t want to divulge any spoilers, I’ll let you decide if you have the same interest and questions.
You should also be aware, IMO, there are potential triggers within this story. The terrorist elements are fairly horrific and terrifying and may trigger fearful emotions. The danger and assaults Marcy and others face in this tale add a deeply emotional and disturbing aspect, along with the concept of terrorist camps operating on American soil with seeming impunity, that will leave you with troubling thoughts. This should not diminish your interest in or involvement with this intriguing story (unless you have emotional triggers) as it has value in its entertainment factor. It certainly kept me reading from start to finish.
I unfortunately did not like this book at all, the hero and heroine were not likeable and there was nothing romantic about their story. There were way too many secondary characters (SEAL members) and it just got way too confusing. Other reasons why I did not enjoy this are all spoilers. I don't think I'll be reading any more in this series.
Lucas' world is crashing around him. His wife has given up on him and he's looking at losing his worldly possessions, and his kids. He's a Navy SEAL currently stuck rooming with his raunchy bachelor SEAL friends. But when Marcy, his wife's realtor, enters his life he realizes what he's been missing. In a very quick turn around, Luke knows his life has been missing, Marcy, a real, capable woman. But their attraction has major consequences for both he and Marcy. Add in a last minute mission for Lucas that keeps him in the USA and on a hunt for terrorist training camps that threaten his home country; and, you are drawn into a suspenseful adventure that affects both ends of the country. Marcy is terrific, resourceful and brave. Although a few passages are drawn out too long, and sometimes Lucas does seem a bit immature for a guy who survived BUDS training, this book is entertaining and has a great ending.
What an exciting book! Lucas was part of a Seal’s team who was married to a crazy woman named Connie. I thought it was so odd that he wanted to stay with a woman who was so awful to others and her children. Connie contacted Marcy who was a realtor at an upscale brokerage in Coronado to sell their properties. Connie had scathing things to say about Lucas that Marcy later found out were untrue. Marcy lost her head and ended up getting together with Lucas just before he had to go on a op in the US where they found one of the places the Afghanistans had a camp to take down some seals. While Lucas was away, he couldn’t tell Marcy what was happening, and they hadn’t been together long enough for her to really know how Seal teams worked. Things were going south for Marcy and Lucas got blamed. Also, some bad things were going on in Tennessee that kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the story and strongly encourage you to read it. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
Marcy Gelland just wants to do her job and sell the property Connie Shipley has hired her to sell. She is supposed to represent both Connie and her soon-to-be ex-husband, Lucas. When Marcy tries to get Lucas's signature on the forms, he pushes back. However, after talking to Connie, Marcy can understand why. Connie seems to care about herself and no one else, even her own child. After meeting Lucas again at his property, Marcy becomes entangled in a way she never expected. What no one knows is that there is danger lurking closer to home than ever before.
If you're looking for a new group of SEALs with some cameos from the former Team, this is the story for you!
*I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed Sharon Hamilton's book, Lucas (Band of Bachelors, #1). Life as a Navy Seal is far from ordinary! Lucas Shipley finds this out when he is served with divorce papers! Realtor Marcy Gelland crosses paths with him when she is hired by his soon to be ex. This book is part romance part dangerous life that SEALS lead. This book entertained me from start to finish. Hamilton has written some interesting characters that are fun to get to know. I am looking forward to reading more about them in the other books in this series.
2.5 Stars - Unfortunately, Lucas and Marley's story was not as good as some of this author's other series. There was too much not followed through, at least for my liking as a reader. And I do enjoy this author's stories. The plot was very good, it was just the folllow-through that did not work for me. His children became non-existent, the intense situation with his wife not truly addressed, Donna also seemed to just be O.K. The hero truly needs to grow on you. I am hoping the next stories redeem this series for me.
This story was not only romance and sex but it had a whole couple of story lines going on about some of unfairness in life that can happen as well as a terrorist scenario that could have happened in the United States that led to a very frightening conclusion that really did have me wondering where the line between fiction and truth was and the possibility of a similar happening. The characters were great and developed very nicely. Kudos to Sharon!
I love a good SEAL team story and this one was great. This story was filled with strong, gorgeous, alpha males, and lots of adventure and hold your breath moments.
Lucas was losing everything to his soon to be ex who couldn't take the SEAL team life anymore. Then enters Marcy, getting caught in the middle of his wife and her vengeance.
It wasn't smart for Marcy and Lucas to get involved but they did, and then terrorists decide to take on the SEAL teams in the USA and no one is safe.
This was an engrossing story that quickly pulled me in. I liked Marcy. I particularly liked all the growth we saw in her character. Lucas left me scratching my head a bit. I kind of don’t feel like he did as much growing, and I think he was the one that needed it the most. I liked where they were able to get to as a couple by the end, however there are still some plot threads I’d like to unravel. I’m hoping I’ll see more of the storylines I want to follow in the subsequent books in the series. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.
Lucas: It was an amazing story. I could not put the book down it was so good. I love the whole brotherhood team. Seal are very strong and caring. They have strong bonds with each other and deserve to have a second chance on love. They may have a dangerous job but they need the love of a woman as well. Lucas wasn't like the others he was very special and I loved that about him. They are all very Hot Men and they do their job well and it was fantastic how it was told.
