The reason why I read this book, was because it was a gift from my mum for the holidays. Although that was two years ago and I was neglecting the book ever since, I decided to read it to satiate my boredom through these holidays.
Although a quick read, i felt it lacked relatability (although I am 3 years older than the demographic) but had made up for it in personality. I felt that the narrative was some what, non linear and had a lot of filler to compromise for its shorter story. Also, I felt like there was a lot of unneeded, ironic humour that was already shown in the first book and felt drawn out in this book. I didn't really get why there needed to be a polar bear in the story other than one off points of comic relief. But I still enjoyed the story, since it wasn't trying to be relatable, (knock offs of diary of a wimpy kid) but to tell a story for what it was and how the character interacted with different ideas and concepts through the narrative.
The charcter I quite liked was the main protagonist, Timmy failure.
I felt that he hides his personal anxieties and doubt behind his facade of his imaginary detective company, Total failure inc. Although his personality is sporadic at times to say the least, it felt like he just wanted to hide the fact that everything he did was a complete failure. And used his fantasies to pretend that he was good a something, although still failing at that.
What I learnt from the book was to understand that life is unfair, and know that everything won't go your way. Not every ending will be happy and morals be nice.
