The most terrifying thing about surviving the end of the world is having to live in what’s left. Most of humanity has died off from a massive solar storm, leaving behind disease, waste, and a civilization on the verge of collapse. Humanity struggles to move on, to continue to live, when everything around them has seemed to fade and fall. The simple act of turning on a solar powered light has become a symbol so poignant that when it finally happens, everyone weeps with joy. Andrew and Mia have made it a year, thanks in large part to their hideout in the mountains. While the worst of the radiation flooded the earth, all around them people are still dying. The army is continuing to march under dubious orders, while the government elite sit comfortably in their bunkers, and the soldiers starve. If nothing changes, the end of the world will truly be upon them, but for that change to happen they need one final confrontation to topple the rest of the old guard, so that they can begin again.
I loved the book! The ending was a little to neat for me but it wrap everything up. I am hoping for a 4th book! I have enjoyed this series so very much and the characters. I am hoping this is not the end for this series.
IT'S OVER, IT CAN'T BE! I love the story and the characters, I love the multiple points of view in the story, but I feel like it was too short, I need more!
Sarah Jayne is so talented. "After the Flare" series is right up at the top of my PAW favorites, along with the "Walking in the Rain" series and "Odd Billy Todd" . These are the favorites that you want to read over and over.
