Am I too old to start playing bass guitar?
Have I left it too late?
Will I ever feel confident playing?

The Mature Bass Player’s Guidebook was written around the questions mature bass players often quietly ask themselves.

This is not a traditional bass guitar method book filled with endless scales, exercises and theory. Instead, James Eager draws on more than 20 years of teaching thousands of adult bass players to explore the doubts, frustrations, confidence and identity shifts that come with learning later in life.

Along the way, you’ll meet bass guitar players in their 50s, 60s, 70s and even 80s who have faced many of the same

What if I am not naturally gifted?
Why does progress sometimes feel so slow?
When do I start to feel like a bass player?
Why do mistakes knock my confidence so much?
How do I keep going when I feel stuck or behind?

Their stories show what learning bass guitar later in life really looks like. Not a race to catch up, but a journey shaped by persistence, confidence, enjoyment, community and the decision to keep growing.

You’ll also discover practical ideas for practice, resilience, mistakes, performing, playing with other musicians and making bass guitar fit naturally into your life.

Learning bass guitar later in life is not a race to catch up. It is a chance to keep growing, creating and becoming.

This book will show you what that journey can look like.

Probably a memoir with a bass player theme.
Pleasantly written with a genuine passion for life with a bass.
Well done and enjoy the read.
