Homicide investigator Carter VanDusen has been called in to investigate a series of bizarre deaths that have devastated his hometown of Histonia, New York. Carter is confronted by demons from his past as he tracks a mysterious killer who appears to be acting without logic or reason. The deeper Carter immerses himself within the twisted cases the more baffling they prove to be, and the only key to solving them lies within the warped mind of a teenage boy who has gone insane. As the mysterious deaths continue, Carter must race against time to learn what is happening to the town he once called home.

Carter VanDusen, a detective in the Poughkeepsie PD is called to a scene of crime where the bodies of four teenagers is found crushed by a bulldozer. Whilst at the scene he observes a troubled teenager, whom he has a hunch knows more about what happened. Realising his one-time high school sweetheart, now an English teacher at the local high school knows the teenagers and in particular his potential witness/suspect, Carter tries to protect her, but what exactly is going on in this town that resulted in these horrific deaths?
A reasonably short crime/horror read that is driven by the character of Carter VanDusen at a relatively quick pace with an interesting twist at the end.
