If the past dictates the future, this family is in trouble… Born into modern day slavery within a hidden mansion in Texas, Zoe Xavier gave birth to three children before the age of sixteen. To keep the peace she does her best to please the man who holds the power, while taking care to avoid his jealous, manipulative, barren, wife. Under tyranny daily, her world is further disrupted after a wicked request from an outsider threatens her children. Zoe knows she must flee from Xavier Estates but where do you go when you’ve never been free? Forced to make a difficult decision after witnessing her daughter being brutally assaulted, she makes a bold move that lands her on the worst block in Baltimore City. Now she meets another powerful man and must adapt—Kennard Black, a drug dealer on the come up. Using the past to enhance the future before long, Zoe learns what it feels like to dominate those far weaker. With time she unknowingly develops evil characteristics hidden within her personality that reveal to all those around that she’s a monster. Nefarious delivers on everything its title promises…an evil, immoral, criminal and wicked drama.

Deep sigh! I love the new characters. I love how T Styles names her characters names that aren't overused. Zoe the main female character is the mother of Clayton, Emma, and Tristan. Her goal is to keep her family together by any means necessary. And that is exactly what she sets out to do. The way these characters begin, is not how they end up and I absolutely loved the changes in them. Even if they weren't for the better.
A book full of characters that you can't help but to love to hate for what they put others through, what more could one ask for? How about a couple of pop ups and honorable mentions from some of my other favorite characters by T Styles!! The drama, the villainous acts of the characters, the backstabbing of each other, all made this book a 5 star read for this reader!!
This by far is one of the best books I've read this year. T. Styles addressed the issue of modern day slavery and weaved a twisted story into it. A family that was once enslaved, now become the villain. You don't know whether to be mad, intrigued or both. One thing you will definitely be, is more educated and appreciative of the local African braiding shops, nail salons, and ethnic eateries.
Job well done T. Styles!!! You definitely have a winner here!
When I first started reading this book, I didn't like it at all but I continued to press my way in completing the book. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised! I got some insight on my girl, Bambi ... and who would have known about the surprise ending if they didn't read to the very end!!! Great work T. Styles ... continue to give me lyfe!!!
This book had me really thinking. You don't really comprehend that slavery is still happening in a different form now a days. The dynamic of how everything played out was mind blowing. Great job T Styles.
Interesting plot and storyline. More importantly, I love the fact it was a twist to the plot, not so much of the typical storyline we could figure out with most stories involving the genre. The characters were well put together and established. I could pick up on the traits between Zoe, Emma, Foster, and more importantly, my favorite is Kennard (although he is somewhat not business-minded but has a great heart and family-oriented) along with Tristan. I enjoyed that it got to the point, that the important scenes were the ones that went into depth vs scenes that weren't going to hold substance.
Starting at the beginning, it allowed us the chance to see just how damaged Zoe mind truly was, along with the event Emma experienced, it showed how it further can damage the mind and what happens when it isn't handled but instead, power is thrust upon those with the mindset each had. Zoe lost all the love she had for Tristan after Emma was killed, which was shocking to me because I didn't expect it. She turned on him completely, regardless of her insecurity regarding her son's sexuality. The women who were stolen from Africa, I felt for them with my heart, minus the one who turned on the group because of her feelings towards Clayton. However, I truly rooted for them. It was a cycle being repeated that they refused to follow the same steps of Emma and Zoe and instead, stay true to their strength and what is right.
It was a great story and plot, something that could create a movie in your mind.

Exceptional read! The title alone had me curious to find out what was within the pages & it did deliver! I liked that the storyline was not only captivating but different as this story examined a situation that's not written about frequently. As I could imagine the scenes unfolding, Zoe was another one of T. Styles unforgettable main characters that brought chaos & page turning drama. In fact, this book was full of characters that left me amazed! I thought the content in this book was well written & recommend all to read for you will not be disappointed.
This was a really really good book. It held my attention from the time I opened it.The book showed two different types of slavery. It is very different. The twists and turns part you didn't think that would happen happened. When you come out of one situation is amazing how you come into different situation if. I must say take the time out and read the book it'll show you a few things. I enjoyed I hope you will too
Omg I don't no where to start that's crazy nine of them told Zoe what really happen and I had a feeling something was go in to happen to Clayton wit his dirty ass wow my man didn't die which was good but let me not tell the book but I was a good one and I can't wait to see if another one come out.
This book held my attention from beginning to end had my mind racing to see what would happen next . Love how t.styles gives you fiction with a pinch of reality that opens your eyes and give you more insight on what happens and real life . It's funny cause Zoe turned out to be exactly like ms .xavier good read . It's been a long time since I finished a book in hours
At first I thought the book was very boring then I knew T. Styles would do us like that so I kept reading. It started getting very interesting. Then I kept reading and as the reference to other books and I was like pow that's my twisted mama. This book was very very good. Loved it read it you will see what I'm talking about.
the book was really good modern day slaves no way I would be able to go through that, Zoe should have been made to die a slow death the way she treated those girls after what she been through,Clayton the irony of what he had to do his brother should of supported Tristan instead of bad mouthing his brother.
It's a T.Styles novel you can't expect it not to be awesome now there was some craziness, but you already know her style if it won't any craziness and stuff too make you cringe then it's not a T.Styles novel!
Excellent read Author Styles. I love how you intertwine those other characters that was smooth. I live Evey bit of Nefarious I need more. When is the next part so I can keep cursing out loud. These books causing me not to be Christian like Gid forgive me. Lol. Job well done.
Mama T did her thing as always. These characters possessed traits that we see in so many variations these days. I'm waiting on her next release. Pick this one up. You won't be disappointed.
I read a few of T. Styles books and I wasn't disappointed. It was different and and little scary. A slave in this era that turned into a monster. Unbelievable how the tables turn and people do sick and twisted things to another human being
Another amazing story as usual. What an brilliant author that can take you on mind trips you never thought possible. If you have not read all of TSyles' books you are missing one of the most amazing authors out.
Well what can I say?... Loved how Mother Styles intertwine & weave all the characters in her books. This was a good read & love how it talks about real life scenarios with a wicked twist. Human trafficking is so real and a subject that needs to be discussed. Overall great read.
As always another banger but this book had me so mad in the beginning. After I finished I was just done I'm always amazed how you keep your stories fresh I'm never gonna pick another authors book and read what you bring to the urban lit world and that why I'm so hype to read what you pen
