Seventeen year old Genesis wakes up in a hospital with no memory of who or what she is . She finds herself surrounded by individuals who claim to know her, but refuse to tell her any details about her life. These people are strange and seem to have a secret agenda where Genesis is concerned.
She soon learns this group of people call themselves Sentinels. Some can manipulate time and others can wake the dead. Sentinels share a common bond. When they were alive, they were responsible for the death of another human being.
They tell Genesis she must remember her life on her own. It is the rule. She must piece everything together on her own so she can choose whether she will help the Sentinels or help a much more sinister group that come from a place where human misdeeds take on form. Where they live and breathe. This confuses Genesis because she doesn't understand why she would help with anything bad. She doesn't know that her human life took place decades ago or that she's killed.
Now the Sentinels have her back but only for one reasom. A rebellious Sentinel wants to eliminate mankind. So, he issues a challenge to God who accepts the bet. Genesis's choices have the power to set off a series of irreversible consequences for everyone involved. This wayward Sentinel had a plan that is sure to stop Genesis from mending her ways. He plans the reunite her with the one thing she hates most in the World-Her sister. The bet is on..

Interesting premise

Interesting book. I spent the majority of the time, just like the main character, trying to figure out what the heck is actually going on. Interesting premise of good vs. evil, but it’s never that easy and I can’t wait toss what happens with Genesis next.

This book was better than I expected. It almost reminds me of The Young Elites by Marie Lu...I'm getting the background info to what is making a character into a villain. I loved the twist in the middle of the book. I didn't expect it at all and then the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. And then the ENDING, wow. It was awesome! I really liked Mae and her attitude, her past, and possibly her forgiveness? She is awesome. I love what's going on with Him and Silas. I love learning how and why the characters are there and how they are connected. The only thing I didn't like was that the worlds of seekers and sentinels was kind of vague. I need more information. Hopefully in the next books, I will get some more information. I can't wait to see what happens and where Genesis will take us in the next books, hopefully it stays dark!
