Book 2, Part 1 of the Submersion trilogy - Guy A Johnson's dystopian thriller continues...
A lost map, in two halves, revealing a secret. A journey beyond the edge of the city. A girl in the wrong place at the wrong time.
And, while everyone is distracted with loss and the damage caused by heavy rainfall, the unthinkable happens. A crime is repeated – and no one can do a thing to stop it.
But that’s not all. A secret network of tunnels underground. A single, terrifying bark that breaks the silence. A discovery where the water ends.
And, at the very heart of it all, the girl in the wrong place at the wrong time…
I really enjoy Guy A Johnson's work. In every one I've read thus far (I think I've now read all but one) I love the cinematic feel to his writing, and this little number is no different.
It took a little while to remember the various story arcs running through (even with the handy character guide, thoughtfully provided by Mr J - the forgetfulness is more on my part I'll admit!) everything came together towards the end and is nicely poised for the next episode.
Although there's the longing for the next instalment, I don't like waiting (think Violet Elizabeth Bott or Verruca Salt)- hurry up with the next one please!
The submersion series is definitely not my usual genre. I usually stay away from science fiction stories, but I had read a few of this author's books and really liked the writing style. This one did not disappoint. It was s little hard trying to remember the various characters since I read the first part several months ago, but most of the details came right back to me. I am anxiously awaiting the next installment!
