Larue Donavan is just a small town girl who just happens to be a world-renowned psychic medium. Yes, she talks to ghosts, but not just any ghosts... lately she’s become a celebrity ghost whisperer. Famous ghosts just won’t leave her alone. Unfortunately, they’re not the only ones interested in Larue. Evil entities have their sights set on her too, and they keep popping up around every corner.
This time Larue finds herself in the presence of iconic film star Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn is a sex symbol in the afterlife too. Also there’s a mysterious man in town and Larue wonders what secrets he’s hiding. She has a strong suspicion he knows about the evil spirits. Plus, a young girl is interested in witchcraft, and Larue thinks her curiosity might be related to recent sightings of the shadow people.
On a recent investigation, Larue might have unleashed a demon. Now she thinks it's after her and everyone she loves. But does that mean she has to push her best friend Mindy and boyfriend Callahan away forever? Does the mystery man hold the key to getting rid of the demons? Can Larue convince him to help? Larue might find the answers from the ghoul of her dreams.

I am just loving this whole series - I think this is the last in the series (for now, I hope). One thing I'd ask of the author though, if she's reading this, is to please please please have someone else proofread the books. I found so many errors and typos in the book and, while it didn't take away from the story, it irritates the heck out of a grammar Nazi like myself! I'm sure you could find loads of people willing to test read for you (myself included).
I really enjoyed the other books in the series, but this one just seemed to drag on in so many places. Would have enjoyed a little more action from Larue and less of the mental dialogue and descriptions of every little task she performed. There were also quite a few editing issues.
As a born and bred Kentucky woman, I tend to identify with Rose Pressey and her down home characters. I love Larue but this o e didn't quite do it for me. .I had a very hard time getting started and the excitement level didn't raise . I was actually glad when the end came. Very boring and lack luster.
Book about ghosts- at first I almost selected a different book to read but I'm glad I didn't. It's an entertaining & fairly quick easy read. The different ghosts are bizarre & some are funny.
I loved this novel and would have given it 5 stars but it had some errors it it. Some of the errors I had to figure out what it was supposed to be meaning. Known the less it was a great read as usual.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book. I am voluntarily providing an honest review in which all opinions are fully my own. I am not being compensated in any way.

What it’s about…
Larue Donovan is a psychic who sees ghosts. Most recently the ghosts have been of the more famous variety. In her small-town strangers rather stand out. So she doesn’t miss any of them, the real ones and the ghostly or demonic ones.
While helping Bonnie McCarthy clear her home of lingering spirits, Larue notices Bonnie’s daughter’s strange behavior and runs into her several times around town. Each time is a little more strange until the answers start to show up.
Several friendly ghosts have taken to following Larue recently. She’s got a really famous one. She’s got one who’s supposed to be doing a job and isn’t. And there’s James in his suit.
And then there’s the real stranger in town who’s caught her eye a time or two. Though he’s not really a stranger. He’s just been gone for a long time. Which is more significant, his time away or his return? And why won’t he speak with Larue? What’s he afraid of and what’s he know?
Larue better put it all together soon or that big, black shadow is going to win!
Technical Tidbits…
The cover is stylized in a similar way as those of Lotta Smith and yet a totally different look. The color palette makes the whole difference here. This black and teal color mix makes things cool and spooky with a feminine twist. Add on the lovely slinky lady and you have a great cover!
The storyline is a great one. Small town girl has to make it safe for her town against the bid baddies. And these guys are really nasty bad guys.
The characters are great! I’m sure if I had read any or all of the previous three books in the series, I’d have had a better handle on the home team. Larue is still done very well here in the fourth book of the series. Her BFF and her Dad are brought along quite well, too. I didn’t feel like I got much of a grip on Callahan, her boyfriend. Stone and the ghosts were done really well. I really enjoyed riding along with the ghosts and it was too funny when the car got too full!
The pace was fast. It got hectic and rather frantic in spots and you just had to keep up since the situation demanded it. You had to stop the Big Black Shadow Guy!
The tension was incredible!
And this is where you STOP if you don’t want to see any SPOILERS…
The good, the bad, and the ugly…and how much it lit up my life… ✰✰✰✰✰
This was fun and scary at the same time. Though I must say scary won out most of the time.
The fun part was BFF Mindy’s Dad, Mark Winters. His passion is Marilyn Monroe. He’s purchased the sparkly earrings not knowing they came with something attached. He’s so proud of them and has to show them to Larue, who he thinks of as a second daughter. And, POP, Larue has another ghost attached to her. Then when he has the chance to go to the MM Museum, he has no idea he’s taking another passenger along. It was so funny and cute! It really was the humorous relief needed after all the scary stuff!
And after listening to Roger be a pain-in-the-ass teenager the whole time, I was so glad to listen to James take him in hand at the end for what he hadn’t done. Hurray for the home team!
Larue jumped right into that portal and did what she had to do. I don’t know if I would have trusted Stone at that point. He had waffled around so much up until then. And that Big Black Shadow Guy was really, really scary. But Larue knew what had to be done and she did it. I guess that’s what happens when you know what’s going to be written. You can be brave. And Callahan was cute at the end. I think I need to go back and read the first three and see what kind of relationship those two have. I suggest reading a series from the first book, but it works out okay when you start with another one, too!
Book Title: Ghoul of My Dreams: A Psychic Cozy Mystery (Larue Donavan Psychic Cozy Mystery Series Book 4) Book Author: Rose Pressey Source: K.U. Rating: 5 stars
Okay, so in place of Abe and Mae West, and Elvis… we get Marilyn Monroe. I believe that Miss Pressey did a good job bringing out the sex symbol in her story line. 😉
Things get much darker and another psychic becomes of importance. With the shadow people out to get her, she needs to figure out the psychic, the girl who’s interested in witchcraft and how to keep a relationship with the sexy coffee shop owner, oh and friendship with her bestie.
Though, I give this book 5 dragon paws or stars… there is one thing that I’m disappointed with…I mean seriously who leaves off a story like that? With- the end? There needs to be one more book in the series…especially after what happened during the investigation with the other psychic! So, Miss Pressey, I request another book…please?! ^_^ Thank you in advance.
This is a darker reading for anyone who likes to read about romance, ghosts, and creepy homes. I highly recommend. A good continuation to book 3.
Larue Donavan is on a paranormal investigation that she has been called in to do, she can sense a spirit but is it playful or evil? Suffice to say Roger appears and he's a teenager but there's more to come from this house.
She's with her bestfriend Mindy when her dad appears with some movie memorabelia and whoosh the film star appears.
Larue has a tough time in this book with evil ghosts, chatty, & teenage ones and this impacts on her relationship with her boyfriend Callahan who owns the shop next to hers.
The ending could lead to a follow on from this story but I guess I will have to read others in the series to find out
If I were to go by story alone, I'd give this four stars. But this book is in dire need of a proof-reader and editor. How does someone get onto the best seller list with such an atrocious grasp of grammar? Misplaced modifiers are just the beginning of the errors and typos in this book. And every one of them takes you out of the experience. I enjoy the characters and the storyline, but I'm afraid this will be the last book I read by this author.
Great series! I wish there were more! So many questions... Love that Marilyn Monroe was in it! What a twist in the end about the two ghost. Think my mouth but the floor. 😁😁
What a fun psychic mystery fun book. There are so many great characters. Non stop entertainment with Marilyn Monoe's ghost. Cute story. Good storyline.
Larue Donavan is quite happy running her book store and spending time with her BFF, Mindy. She also enjoys spending some quality time with her boyfriend, Callaghan. She appears to be a typical “small down girl” with a couple of exceptions: she can see and speak with ghosts, she is also a medium, and a witch!
Because of her ability to see and communicate with ghosts, they sometimes decide to stick to her like glue. Currently, she has three in residence: Roger, a typical teenager, James, an adult with very little to say, and Marilyn Monroe!
While investigating a suspected haunting of a house being renovated, Larue spots what appears to be a shadow. But this shadow is moving independent of any living person. It doesn’t take long for her to realize that there is more than one "shadow" and that they are not friendly. When they start attacking Larue and her friends, she knows that she must take action…but what action?
Where can she turn for advice? Where can she find help? Is there any help to be found? Will Larue be able to banish the dark presences before it’s too late? Will she be able to pick up any “glamour tips” from Marilyn?
This is an In-depth plot, well written with good characters - the type you might expect to meet in any small town. The story has enough twists and turns to keep you reading right up to the end.
I have loved every book that Rose has written and Ghoul of My Dreams is no different. I devour each of her books the day they release and then I am stuck waiting for her next release. As with all of Rose's books she has me laughing out loud and really with a psychic medium named Larue who has been having famous ghosts come to her what is not to love? And the celebrity ghost is none other than Marilyn Monroe who I just love so that made this book even better for me. But Rose doesn't stop there she throws in a demon and evil entities who want Larue and you have book that will have you on the edge of your seat wondering how Larue will get out of this mess and enjoying the ride right along with her as your living the story with her. 5/5 Bloody Fangs
The story is interesting and fun as usual, but not as dark as the third one. I still enjoyed this one, but the editing kept getting worse and by the end of the story I suspected the wrong version of the chapters was incorporated. I am certain the corrections will be made soon and you will enjoy the new hunk and miss the latest ghosts. Enjoy!
