Finally ending her obligation to the government, Brita is ready to live a life of freedom. Always a loner, even in a secret military task force, she now looks forward to getting lost among the tourist of a small town resort area. No more violence or killing that is her new motto. The day a stranger walks into her place of work and mistakes her for someone else, everything changes. She’d always been told that she was one of a kind—no others like her. She sets out on a mission to discover the truth and to find her pack—if one exists. Maybe, just maybe they can be the key to unlocking the mysteries that have held her bound.

Alek was feeling restless. The choker of Alpha is dangling to close to his neck. He needed time to decide if he wanted to engage in a dominance battle. His life didn’t seem to be leading anywhere else, but he refused to just given in because it was what was expected of him. He believes time away from his world and the open air of the Blue Ridge Mountain area could bring him just the clarity he needs.

In a whiff, his relaxing vacation becomes encumbered by a demanding anomalous whose one sexy-ass feline. Brita’s arrival brings out the base needs of his cat and he can’t simply stand back and let the local shifters handle it… No. He’ll do whatever it takes to prove to Brita that he’ll be by her side—and she is his.

I love romance, and writing is one of my greatest pleasures in life, outside of my husband and daughter. My belief in happily ever after began when I was sixteen and started reading romance books. Now, as an erotic romance author, I try to show that every woman, no matter her color, age, shape, or size, deserves a high level of passion in her life. Residing in North Carolina with my family.

Brita is a hybrid shifter who has spent her entire life in service to the government. Her earliest memories involve training to be a super soldier. She has earned her freedom, is being discharged and wants to drive across country and find a good place to plop down and live. She prefers the mountains. While stopping in a town she gets a job at a diner, someone comes in and she is mistaken for someone else-apparently someone that she looks exactly like and this starts a commotion.

At the same time Alek Zusmen walks in to the diner. He has come up to visit his cousins, wanting to get away from home for a few days. It’s time for him to take over as alpha and participant in the dominance challenges but he’s having second thoughts. Being alpha comes with a lot of responsibilities. The girl causing all the commotion.....is the last thing he would expect.....his mate. He chases after her out of the diner and into the woods and man when he catches up to her is that some hot chemistry.

Brita is a strong, hard-ass but sympathetic in that she quietly survives...accepting what has happened to her but wanting peace. It was so easy to relate to her. She is not wanting to be mated or marked but finds it hard to fight Alek. He is so accepting and protective of her. When they return to the group who are not happy to see her she meets up with her cousin's mate, Nikki, an exact replica of Britta. They are leery of each other and are taken over to the scientist who can study Britta's DNA. This is not the first time someone who looked like Nikki showed up or shared her DNA. Alek is determined to protect his mate and find a way into her heart.

This is such a good story (hard to explain in a review) and I look forward to more. I only wish this were a little longer read but the story is well told and really enjoyable.

Brita is a hybrid shifter who has literally spent her entire life in service to the government. Her earliest memories involve training to be a super soldier. As far as she knows, she’s one of a kind, without any family. Now that she’s finally “earned” her freedom, she wants to live the simple life and be done with fighting other people’s wars. Her life is going as planned until a man walks into the diner where she works and mistakes her for someone else. Someone who she looks exactly alike.

Alek Zusmen is looking to get away for a few days. It’s time for him to take over as alpha and participant in the dominance challenges but he’s having second thoughts. Being alpha comes with a lot of responsibilities. While visiting his cousins, he runs into the last thing he least expects, his mate. A mate, who doesn’t want to be mated. Talk about challenges.

I loved Brita. It was so easy to relate to her. She’s strong and badass, but at the same time vulnerable. Her military training causes conflict with her true nature and causes her to run from being mated. Fortunately for Brita, Alek is willing to fight for what is his and that includes Brita. Alek is an Alpha’s alpha, which endeared him to me. The passion between Brita and Alek is off the charts, but it’s Alek’s patience and understanding that tugged at my heartstrings.

Fast and Furless is a quick, deliciously good read. This is the first book that I’ve read in the Southern Shifters universe. While it’s not necessary to have read Eliza Gayle’s books in order to enjoy Fast and Furless, I’m definitely adding them to buy list. I want to catch up on the back story with some of the secondary characters in this book.

Cute light frothy, and of course steamy! lunch break read. This is a book where you can pick it up and put it down as needed- though you won't want to. Enjoy the entire Southern Shifter series for more.

A very good novella in the Southern Shifters Kindle World based on Eliza Gayle's books. This totally relates to one of those stories, but it can be read standalone.
The heroine is special, she has been working for the government and she doesn't have a normal shifter background. We discover a lot about that throughout the story. Someone mistakes her for a cougar shifter they know in another town, so she goes to meet that woman. She also meets a really great jaguar/wolf shifter and there is a strong attraction, and sexy actions, immediately. It is very hot. It gets into a lot of details of how shifters work, but it doesn't ever get boring as we learn this stuff. It is very suspenseful and exciting and sexy. I loved it!

I received an ARC from Yvette Hines for a honest review. I must say this again, I'm not much into cat shifters, but I am now. This is the second feline shifters book I have read from Yvette, and Southern Shifters: Fast & Furless has me hooked even more. Yvette, took me into a new world in this novella. She gives just enough secret military, feeling of lost, seeking to find, shifting, dominant and alpha, keeping enough kick-ass strength without over bearing, and enough *fanning face* hot, sweaty sex, perfect. Southern Shifters: Fast & Furless, leaves you complete, with just a tiny bite of wanting more of Brita and Alek. A must read!

Purrfect!

I truly don't think anyone write shifter stories better than this author! There is an art form to perfecting short stories so the reader feels that it was complete; again, very few if any do it better than Yvette Hines.

Brita & Alek are HOT!! It's sexy....he's alpha...she's Badass....you CANNOT go wrong with this equation!

Ms. Hines is so descriptive when creating her shifters, you truly feel it's a real community.....if only!

Homerun again.....buy this book people!!

Yvette Hines is one of my go to authors that I tend to purchase all she writes. I enjoyed this crossover, even though I don't remember the "be were" series. I thought I had all her books. But reading about the connection between Brita and Niki and how they now had each other, as well as their mates.

Finding what was missing

Everyone of these shifters finds what has been missing. They have been able to be whole again. Which is all they ever wanted.
