Four of Hearts Ranch #3

Kissed by a Cowboy

Rate this book

Cassidy was looking for a home and a place to belong . . . not for a cowboy to steal her heart.

Having lived through her parents’ endless string of “matrimonial bliss gone wrong,” Cassidy Starr knows when the odds are not in her favor. Divorced and humiliated, her faith on rocky ground, Cassidy is through with love. She’s been bucked off that horse far too many times. Instead, she returns to Wishing Springs, Texas, and the rundown farm she’s inherited from her great aunt Roxie. She’ll reopen the strawberry farm and a bed & breakfast and follow in her aunt’s footsteps, remaining forever-independent, happy . . . and single.

Rancher Jarrod Monahan’s hands are full running the ranch, looking after his ailing grandfather, and chasing down a group of rustlers on the loose. He’s pushed his longing for a family to the bottom of his list of priorities. Besides, he was in love once but ran scared and lost his shot at happiness. But suddenly, the biggest regret of his life has moved in next door with a wounded heart, determined to become a spinster . . . and that’s a challenge that Jarrod can’t pass up.

Jarrod sets his mind to breaking down the walls around Cassidy’s stubborn heart. How can he show her that a cowboy’s kiss lasts forever?  For the good folks of Wishing Springs, falling in love has never been so much fun to witness.

Are you looking for a fun read that will draw you in and put a smile on your face? Then Kissed by a Cowboy is the one! I'm not exaggerating, I found myself smiling throughout this book. Cassidy is a lovable heroine! She is a total klutz and I loved that about her, because I can so relate! Jarrod is the real deal. You want cowboy? You got it with Jarrod Monahan! I really wanted the ranch life feel with this book and I got it. I was also satisfied with the small town Texas feel. Yeah, some of it was just "fluff" but but it was believable, adorable and entertaining! And the title fit perfectly. That kiss was amazing! Not every romance writer can write a good kiss! This is the first book I've read by this author but it will not be the last!

Kissed by a Cowboy was a fun, fluffy read for me. I didn't fall in love with the characters or the story line, but I still enjoyed the read. I really liked the details about the land and owning a ranch. I also thought it was such a cool thing that Cassidy was trying to do - own a bed and breakfast, sell strawberries and peaches, etc. It just seems like such a warm way to live, I wish I could have seen her hopes and dreams come to fruition a bit.

The plot did feel a bit repetitive to me. Jarrod was a bit too forceful and Cassidy too timid, both of their actions saying the opposite of their words. A bit of that is okay, if done realistically, but for me, it just felt like the same thing happened over and over. I also don't care for scenes when a character knowingly puts themselves in danger - it just doesn't feel realistic.

Even so, please know that my typical reads are not contemporary, and if they are, they don't usually feature cowboys, so this isn't my usual reading fare. Readers that like these types of stories will most likely enjoy this one. I liked the setting and secondary characters enough that I wouldn't mind reading the other books in the series at some point as well.

There are so many great opportunities to grin while reading Kissed By A Cowboy, the final book in the Four of Hearts Ranch series by Debra Clopton. From the quirky residents of Wishing Springs to some Monahan brotherly ribbing to Jarrod’s drawling dreaminess, be prepared to smile. A lot. And when Jarrod sets his mind to wooing… well, best have your fainting couch handy.

Jarrod and Cassidy have a history – both would call the other “the one that got away”. This history between them only increases their chemistry, which evidently hasn’t lost its spark. You could practically hear the spark and sizzle in the air right from their first shared scene. The fact that Cassidy spends most of that scene half in and half out of a doggy door – with Jarrod talking to the … uh … back end – is your first clue that their heat comes with just the right amount of humor.

Speaking of humor, the ladies of the Cut Up and Roll beauty salon are as hilarious and endearing as ever. Between their drooling over Jarrod and their inability to stay out of everyone else’s business, they are a hoot and a half.

I am still twitterpated over Jarrod. His drawl. His steadfast pursuit of Cassidy. His lazy grin. His love for Pops. His kisses. A certain … um… shirtless… scene. Whew. He’s a gentleman, of course, but Cassidy does bring out the playful rogue side of him. That combination in a cowboy? Lethal to those of us who collect book boyfriends.

Bottom Line: As a fan of the Four of Hearts Ranch series, I’ve been waiting for Jarrod’s story. I wasn’t disappointed. Debra Clopton’s wit and talent shine in this fitting farewell to the Monahans. (Though this is the third book in the series, it isn’t absolutely necessary to have read the other two.) The electricity between Jarrod and Cassidy will keep a grin on your face and a swoon in your heart. Kissed By A Cowboy is fun, entertaining, and romantic! If you like Denise Hunter or Becky Wade, you’ll enjoy Debra Clopton’s books too.

KISSED BY A COWBOY started off so fun with an awkward moment between two friends who haven't seen either other in a long time. It set the tone for this book full of small-town charm, a cowboy who wants to love a gal, and a gal who is trying to stand on her own. I enjoyed the humor, the swoon-worthy moments, the family relationships with all the heart and teasing, and the small-town feel. The heroine didn't work for me, but I loved the hero and the other characters.

I loved Jarrod through the whole story. I loved his charm, work ethics, willingness to help, and his strength. I also loved his family. They added quite a bit to this story and it was great to "see" them again after getting to know them in the first two books. I also enjoyed the other characters from the town. I'm still pulling for Rand...

I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, but for some reason, this one didn't quite work for me as well. I think I just didn't connect with Cassidy and felt she was a little unreasonably set against Jarrod and was a little out of control. It worked at first, but after a couple of hundred pages of her still in the same place, still dramatic, still not growing or changing how I think she should be, it got old. It made the story rather frustrating.

Overall a decent inspirational romance. I liked getting to see Jarrod get a happily-ever-after, but definitely not my favorite in the series.

Kissed by a Cowboy tells the story of the final Monahan brother, Jarrod. It was great to visit Wishing Springs again and see characters from the two prior books, especially Pebble and Rand.

Jarrod and Cassidy's story didn't pull me in like the prior two novels did. I found some of the actions to be abrupt and others unrealistic.

I look forward to future novels by this author and recommend this series for readers that enjoy contemporary westerns.

I really love this series. Its packed full of small-town charm, lovable characters and of course swoony romance. This is the third book in the Four Hearts Ranch series, it can stand on its own, but all three books are fun to read and there is a little character overlap.

Jarrod is the oldest Monahan brother and helps run the family ranch. He's a great character and after meeting him in the first two books I was looking forward to his story. Cassidy is just getting out of a bad marriage and has sworn to never marry again. She wants to reopen her Aunt's strawberry farm and start a B&B. She does not want a relationship, especially with her old crush Jarrod. She has some pretty big walls up and Jarrod is determined to knock them down.

I really enjoyed Jarrod and Cassidy's story. They have great chemistry. I liked how he was so patient with her and doesn't give up. Cassidy has been through a lot, I understand why she was slow to jump into another relationship and glad in a way that she wants to put herself first for once. I was wondering how they were going to figure things out.

Overall, this is a great series. I love the characters and think they're all just a fun escape.

My Review

Oh my! Why have I never read a Debra Clopton novel before? Debra is now on my list of must read authors. I need to buy the previous two books in this series because this book was amazing and was exactly what I had hoped it would be and more. I usually don't read much contemporary, but since it was mixed with romance and western I knew I would love it is despite the contemporary setting. Kissed by a Cowboy was a swoon worthy read and I really loved it.

Kissed by a Cowboy was a very enjoyable ending to a wonderful series. This story can be read as a stand alone, but is even more enjoyable if the first two books are read before it.

Poor Cassidy! I really felt for her and all the hurt that she experienced in her first marriage. I wanted her to open her heart to love, but she was just so scared! This frustrated me a bit, but I realized this was a symptom of how hard her life had been up to this point. I still liked her as a character and looked forward to when she would finally be willing to risk her heart.

Jarrod was a wonderful character, just like the other Monahan brothers have been in the previous books. I loved the way he handled things, whether it was trying to break through Cassidy’s defenses or trying to save the family ranch. I really enjoyed his character.

Another fun part of this book was getting to reconnect with the couples from books one and two. I loved reading about what was going on in their lives. This small town and the people in it felt so real to read about and I have enjoyed this entire collection very much.

The ranch setting with wide open spaces and small town Texas community is so well-depicted it made me want to go live there! I liked Cassidy's plan of recovering from her divorce and taking back her life by returning to the place where she was happy as a child and teen and get lost in the hard work of starting a new business and farm. You could tell how severe her emotional issues were with the interactions she had with Jarrod. She kept their relationship rocky as she ran hot and cold- mostly cold- as Jarrod tried his best to help her and she resisted any assistance which she viewed as a threat to her independence. Their experiences from the past made Jarrod refuse to give up on her though, and the story focuses on the progression of her feelings as she slowly lets him in. The subplots of the rustlers and a rekindled romance among an older couple in the town added variety to the narrative. I adored how Jarrod treated her with respect but also gave her a little push when she needed it, especially when he was desperate to get closer to her. A great addition to the Four of Hearts Ranch series!

I always look forward to reading books by Debra Clopton. This is a fun series and I am loving it. This series is about brothers, sticking together, working together and saving their ranch. There is such a sense of home and family in these books. And who can resist a handsome cowboy?

For Cassidy and Jarrod, this is a story of re-connection and a second chances. Jarrod sees Cassidy as his second chance at love and happiness. Cassidy views her return as a second chance at happiness and independence- without love. Cassidy is super stubborn when it comes to love but I can't help but be impressed with her hard work and vision. Jarrod's drive and determination to show Cassidy he is her forever is so endearing. He is one patient man. I love how he always tries to help and support Cassidy in her dreams and doesn't try to detract from what she is trying to accomplish.

It is always fabulous to see previous book characters show up as sort of a side continuation. I love seeing good things happen for the characters I came to love in previous books.

This book is Christian fiction. There are some elements of religion. It is clean all the way around. This title will be released on Feb. 9th.

The setting of this story is charming and so is every last one of the characters. The premise is simple, but sweet. Romance blossoms softly and old friendships are revived. This contemporary tale is a lighthearted read with a hint of the old wild west.

I enjoyed getting to know Cassidy and Jarrod, but I’m afraid I didn’t connect to them as I would have hoped. Their relationship had some amusing moments, but I struggled believing the two of them and their up-and-down feelings for each other. I appreciated their goals and ambitions, especially Cassidy’s dream for a strawberry farm and B&B, but things just became a little too repetitious for me.

Yes, there are some predictable moments. Even so, I know many readers will still enjoy this easy-to-read tale of two old friends finally embracing true love.

This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to Thomas Nelson & Zondervan’s Fiction Guild for my copy.

A hunky cowboy is hard to say no to, but this cowboy, even with his blue eyes and dark hair, is my least favorite of the Monahan clan. He was straight up stalker-ish in his pursuit of Cassidy Starr. No matter how many times she said, no, there he was. Don't get me wrong, I love a hero who goes for what he wants, but he tried a little too much in my opinion. Cassidy is a great heroine, scarred and reluctant, but resilient in her desire to start fresh in an old, familiar place. It's too bad that Jarrod didn't live up to what I expected from reading Betting on Hope and Counting on a Cowboy. That said, if you enjoy contemporary romance that is clean but not preachy, this series is one to look for.

Kissed by a Cowboy is the third book of the Four of Hearts Ranch series. This story really spoke to my heart. I felt an instant connection to Cassidy. I knew exactly what she had gone through and knew those reservations and feelings on finding love again.
I, also, found myself laughing a bit while reading this.
What a fun, sweet, clean and romantic story. I enjoyed catching up with past characters from the other book of the series.

My Review:

Overall the book wasn't bad, but it kinda reminded me of a Hallmark movie honestly XD
I felt like the characters were a little flat, like they grew to love each other but that was the only way they grew, it just didn't feel like there was much there...
One part I really enjoyed was the 4th of July scene, it was really cute :)
I also liked when Cassidy found Duce, a stray dog, and also when she adopted the two lambs, they sounded like such cute animals :)
Another thing I wasn't fond of was the ending, it felt rushed and like everything got resolved so easily...
One thing I will say is that Jarrod and Cassidy are cute together :)
So yeah it was a cute contemporary, that didn't take long to read.

That's all I can think to say about this book right now...sooo...

*My Thoughts*

You know those days when you just NEED a book that will make you giggle until your sides hurt? You just want to smile and laugh and cry and just feel until your family asks what's wrong with you?

I have them a lot. And now that I've read Kissed by a Cowboy, this is absolutely one of those go-to books!

I won't give any spoilers but I WILL say that less than a chapter into the book, I knew I would LOVE it. It was engaging, romantic, sweet, deep, perfectly paced, and just FUNNY!

I read stories like this often. Those stories where either the hero and heroine hate each other or they have a rocky past and they have to get past the hurts and pain to see a bright future...I have a strange addiction to them. That's one reason I loved this book so much. Well, that and the fact that even though I have never stayed at one, I'm in love with the charm of bed and breakfasts! ;)

Long story short, I adored Jarrod & Cassidy, it was definitely one of the funniest books I've ever read, and it's swoon worthy. Go read it!

*My overall thoughts*

Such a fun cowboy romance, don't think for a second that there isn't also a beautiful message to be heard. I really do wish there was so much more to come in this series but I can't wait to see what Debra does next!

Cassidy Starr has returned to Wishing Spring after hard divorce. She wants to put her aunt's farm back in operation and raise organic strawberries as well as open a bed and breakfast. She's done with love. Jarrod Monahan's got his own troubles. He's running the family cattle ranch and trying to track down some rustlers. He's never forgotten the girl next door though. When he learns that the one woman who stole his heart years ago has moved in next door, he can't help but see this as a second chance. Despite the fact that she wants nothing to do with him or love. But as their lives collide, will Cassidy recognize the fact that not all men are like her ex-husband, and will she give the cowboy she still loves a second chance?

Whenever I read one of Debra Clopton's books, I know a couple of things. First, there will be cowboys. Second, it's usually hilarious. This book is true on both accounts. It's the third in the series, but does stand alone.

I loved Jarrod's pursuit of Cassidy. I loved that he realized when he was rushing her and took a step back. But I also loved how he was the wonderful good neighbor and was there to help her out when she needed it. I thought that Cassidy was a little too determined to hang onto her plans.

The secondary characters, as usual, are delightful. I love the town of Wishing Springs and the people who live there. In this one, I really liked Doc's pig Clover.

It's a quick read. I also found it to be very light-hearted.

I received the Kindle copy for free from Booklook Bloggers for the purpose of reviewing. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received an advance review copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Romance, clean.
This was more of a 3.5 for me but I rounded up because I loved all the side characters and the setting. Cassidy's adventure as she moves to the home and land she inherited from her Aunt Roxie is an escape from her hurtful present as she is moving on from a divorce. Her cheating, lying ex hurt her to the point she just wants to be by herself and depend on no one.
Her neighbor Jarrod is something she wasn't counting on as she tumbles head on into her new life. From their awkward initial encounter when she is locked out and stuck in the doggie door to the house, he seems to always be there when she needs some help.
They have a past, and both haven't come to terms with what happened then. Jarrod tries to ease his way into her life, being a friend, and neighbor bringing her along as he tries to catch some cattle rustlers, and just trying not to 'fall' while being her friend.
They both have to come to terms with the past, finally forgive one another, and jump into the future
This was a fun read, some cute situations, definite attraction between the two main characters, and some great side characters and side stories. Loved the push and pull between the neighbor, friend, and love interest. There was definite attraction and chemistry between them.
My only disappointment is not seeing how Cassidy's plans were 'finished'. She had come so far on the house and the farm. Had some successes, but wondered if she ever finished the bed and breakfast?? If that had been resolved (not just Jarrod's 'problem's' resolution), I think I would have felt more settled at the end of the book. A few other loose ends, but I am guessing they will resolve in another novel.

Holey smokin' pine cones! Make sure the fainting couch is plumped up and you have a fan or two handy...or you could just stick your head in a snow bank periodically if you live in Northern climes...because you are going to swoon over Jarrod Monahan.

He's a take-charge cowboy with a heart for service and his sights are set on Cassidy. Only gremlins from her past cause her to interpret his neighbourly overtures as overbearing. Talk about a confusing clash of wills and a definite lack of communication at times. But it's impossible for Cassidy to remain aloof as memories from their past take residence in her mind...and unfortunately...her heart.

But she's one determined lady and her life plan involves living alone on her organic strawberry farm. It definitely doesn't include a male and most certainly not Jarrod in particular. But this cowboy won't be dissuaded. His toe-curling pursuit of the woman he loves is sublime in hyperventilating proportions. Swoon inducing kissing scenes and a relentless cowboy bent on getting the girl made my heart stutter a time or two...or three or four...during this read.

Clopton's trademark humour is evident on every page. From the quirky secondary characters readers have come to love in this series to brotherly advice on matters of the heart -- well, it's sweet perfection and I'm still grinning.

An incredible conclusion to the Four Hearts Ranch Romance series - faith-filled and brimming with hope -- Jarrod and Cassidy's story will grab your heart and linger with you long after the last page.

This review is also posted on Book by Book.

With just its title, Debra Clopton’s Kissed by a Cowboy seems to promise all the romance I enjoyed in the previous Four of Hearts Ranch novels. So, I started reading it with high expectations, and luckily, I did not stop disappointed, as the eldest Monahan brother gets his chance for love finally.

Entirely serious, focused, and committed to running his family’s ranch successfully, Jarrod does not have time to consider his love life - until a woman from his past, Cassidy Starr, moves into the next-door house, and their attraction is immediate, mutual, and undeniable. Unfortunately, stubborn Cassidy has decide to remain single and independent in the wake of her humiliating divorce. Just as stubbornly, though, Jarrod quickly determines he needs to change her mind.

As comedic scenarios, emotional hurts, and the meddlesome matchmakers of Wishing Springs bring Jarrod and Cassidy together again and again, Kissed by a Cowboy tells an entertaining and heartwarming romance. I really enjoyed it, and I believe fans of contemporary romance, especially those who have read the other Four of Hearts Ranch novels, will, too. I recommend it.

Thanks to LitFuse Publicity Group, I received a copy of Kissed by a Cowboy and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own.

Debra Clopton writes an entertaining contemporary story, and this third in the series was awaited with anticipatory thoughts of fun and relaxed reading. I was not disappointed on that level. I knew with a title such as "Kissed by....." that it might entail more kissing than I like for my reading and reviewing. But I do enjoy Ms. Clopton's stories, so I dove into reading it.

The story is warm and entertaining and the characters realistic, charming, quirky, lovable. The little town has a bit of everything and a heaping dose of friendliness and caring.

Cassidy has returned to the home of her beloved aunt deceased for several years. Seeking a new life in a new place following her divorce after eight years married to a man who has been grossly unfaithful to her, she desires to establish a Bed and Breakfast and small business on this inherited property she loves. It is close by the ranch of the man who previously broke her heart prior to her marriage.

So Cassidy is dealing with the aftermath of divorce, refurbishing and refitting the property to ready it for her dreamed future, and trying to convince everyone she is not interested in a new relationship with a man. But then there is a whole lot 'o kissing going on.

This is not a story I would particularly want to pass along to a teen. While it is not truly offensive, some things you just need to keep a bit low key.

Cassidy is back in Wishing Springs after a horrible divorce. She's inherited her aunt's home and farm and plans to run an organic farm along with a bed and breakfast. She's determined to be single for the rest of her life and enjoy her business. But her neighbor and childhood friend, Jarrod keeps popping up to help her. Throw in some match making town people, cattle thieves, and an injured dog and Cassidy is having a hard time sticking to her ground rules.

This was a really sweet story. It was nice to reconnect with the characters from the previous books, but the book would also work well as a stand-alone. The romance was clean, and fit well with the characters. The characters, while flawed, had depth and faith. The author does a great job of setting the scene and pulling in the characters from town. The plot has several themes going, but it isn't confusing or cluttered. I liked how the author wove in a message of faith, forgiveness, and trust. I really enjoyed this third book in the series and based on a couple of things left open, I hope to continue to enjoy more books as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a clean romance or Christian fiction.

I received this book free of charge from Litfuse Publicity in exchange for my honest review.

Even though this book is part of a series, they can be read in any order because each book tells the story of how each of the three Monahan brothers found their wives. In "Kissed by a Cowboy," we get to know the oldest brother, Jarrod, who's finally starting to feel the urge to settle down, especially after seeing his brothers in marital bliss. Unfortunately, Cassidy -- the girl he's never forgotten -- associates love with heartbreak and weakness, so it's going to be a challenge for Jarrod to win her heart. But being a cowboy, he's tamed wild horses before, and if he can just rein in his impatience, Jarrod knows that Cassidy will eventually realize that he's the forever guy for her.

This book was very entertaining, with plenty of humor, especially when reading about the townsfolk, who can't resist poking their noses into everyone else's lives. After finishing this series, I couldn't help wishing there were a few more Monahan brothers to read about. If you love cowboys and romance, you'll adore "Kissed by a Cowboy" and all three books in Debra Clopton's A Four of Hearts Ranch Romance series.

Kissed By a Cowboy is the third book featuring the Monahan brothers. I have really enjoyed this series and in a way, I'm sad that the last brother has gotten his HEA. Jarrod is the eldest of the three brothers. He is also the serious one. When he realizes he has a second chance at love with Cassidy, he decides to go for it. Unfortunately, Cassidy has other plans. Coming of a horrible divorce, she doesn't want to ever get married again.

While not my favorite of the three books, I did enjoy Jarrod and Cassidy together. I loved how Jarrod never gave up in trying to win back Cassidy's heart. I was really rooting for them the whole way. For me, it just took Cassidy a little too long to get with the program. In addition to their story, we are treated to the conclusion to a story arc over the series between Pebble and Rand. Their love story was so super sweet and I was so happy with that couple's ending. Along with appearances from previous characters, there is a bit of adventure added into the story.

I'm not sure what is next for this author, but I hope she will visit with Wishing Springs Texas again in the future!

I have loved this series so much. Something about just regular Texas people making their home a small town just warms my heart. These cowboys feel like the real deal, and the women in their lives are just adorable. I loved getting to know Cassidy and Jarrod and watching them create their love story. Their story was so perfect and I closed this book wishing for nothing but the best for this entire family. Would love to see a novella that gives us a glimpse into their lives in the future.

After the last line of page 294 of Chapter 25 I was disappointed to see the title "Epilogue" scroll up because this signalled the end of the book shortly. Awesome storyline !

When Cassidy wakes up from the coma she was in for multiple days and finds herself alone, she comes to the realization that she's done with her marriage and is going to make it on her own. She's done with the husband who cheated her on her every chance he got, and decides that she'll be better off if she never includes another man in her life. Thankfully her aunt left her property in her estate, and Cassidy is all set to move there and turn it into a bed and breakfast with an attached organic farm. The one catch is she's now next door to Jarrod, the man who broke her 18 year old heart and caused her to run straight into the arms of that scumbag of a husband. Jarrod is feeling lonely and now the one woman he ever cared for is back in his life. He knows he royally messed up, and his attention should be focused on the cattle rustlers in the area, but instead he can only concentrate on one thing: winning back the heart of a woman who says she's sworn off love forever.
This was the third book in the series. The first two are based on Jarrods other brothers so you don't need them for this book, but it was a really sweet story and it brings in the other stories as well

Imagine my happy surprise when I discovered one of Debra Clopton's cowboy romances on the shelf at our local library! I was actually volunteering at the time, so I snagged it during my work and carried it with me, just in case someone might have walked off with it.
This one wasn't as humorous as some of her other stories, but there were moments that had me chuckling. It's very similar to her Mule Hollow books, but not so similar I couldn't enjoy the main story line.
I felt for these characters who had been hurting for so long and who were dealing with some heavy regrets. I could understand their doubts and fears, and their desire to support the people they cared for in whatever way was best. So the characters were relatable, at least to me.
If you enjoy clean, contemporary romance, stories about Texas or cowboys, and happy endings, you should definitely give this book a try.

Finally a series to fall completely in love with. The characters are rich, three-dimensional and full of life. Old storylines are reprised along with some new situations. Clopton paints a vivid picture of life on the Three of Hearts Ranch. I feel like these people have become my friends, and I can't wait to see how the rest of their lives turn out.

Cassie Starr knows where she needs to be. When her great aunt Roxie bequeaths her farm to Cassie, she knows this is a perfect new start for her. Suffering from a devastating divorce, Cassie is in no hurry to get herself involved with anyone, let alone Jarrod Monahan, the man who kissed her and ran off. Cassie knows she needs to guard her heart, but is there still a deep desire for Jarrod? Cassie will do her best to keep him at bay, but the heart wants what it wants.

I have enjoyed books by this author. However, there were a few times where I was troubled here. When Cassidy says, "Stop" Jarrod does not stop, but keeps holding her firmly. Later, after sneaking a kiss with Cassidy, he says that he couldn't help it. Later she says no to dancing and he still leads her to dance. Of course the readers knows that the couple will end up together and that Cassidy has fears due to her former husband's cheating and mind games, while realizing that Jarrod is different from her ex. I like for even my book heroes to react appropriately a female's request to stop. There should be power and respect in that word.

Debra Clopton never disappoints! Divorcee Cassidy Starr is a great protagonist as she attempts to start a new life by opening a B&B in the farmhouse she inherited from her great aunt. She spent the happy parts of her childhood on this strawberry farm. Neighbor rancher Jarrod Monahan has never forgotten the girl who visited "next door" and tagged after him and his cowboys. He remembers the one kiss they shared too! You will enjoy this sweet contemporary romance with some rustlers thrown in!
