The edition of the book I have is a little outdated. It's from 2008, so not surprising. It uses terms like "Aspergers", which are no longer used. But there's a lot of good info in here! I'm giving 3 stars for 2 reasons:
1: much of this book is geared towards parents readying their kids for school and what kind of legal rights they have. I assume that those too may be outdated or have changed in the last 15 years.
2: I'm an adult trying to navigate their own sensory processing disorder, and much of this book is for kids 0-5.
Overall though, lots of good definitions and overviews of how SPDs can present and what kind of treatments may be available.
Very good for those who can't spend hours reading, short and sweet answers to important questions. Great for my husband who is not a big reader. Also good for family members or friends with a family who has a child with Sensory Processing Disorder. Best part about this book, found a summer camp for kids with SPD right here in WI!
Great book to read if your dealing with a child or anyone else for that matter, who is struggling with Sensory Processing Disorder. Very plain and straight forward in it's delivery of some very helpful answers and advise.
A little too basic, disorganized and somewhat outdated. However, a few good and succinct ideas for problem solving routines that can be difficult for children with SPD such as toothbrushing, haircuts, trying a variety of foods.
