Dragons and giants and trolls, oh my! Storybook legends tell of a whole menagerie of imaginary creatures. Who better to playfully explore these beasts than those impresarios of imagination, Meg and Lucy Clibbon? This creative team presents a fun-filled guide to more than 20 mythical beings. Prepare to meet creatures great (bad-tempered giants are best avoided) and small (dwarves are small in stature but big on brains). You’ll also encounter old favorites—from the mysterious Sphinx to the elusive Loch Ness Monster—and new surprises, like the Australian Bunyip. Other featured creatures include, Unicorns, Trolls, Mermaids, The Phoenix, Centaurs, Werewolves, Fairies Playful profiles for each offer a description spiced with the wit and luscious illustrations of the beasts and the panoramic landscapes they occupy.
This is my favourite of the Meg Clibbon books so far - gorgeous illustrations featuring different creatures. There's a lot of information, so might be better to share at home than as a readaloud in class, but our children love looking at the pictures.
