Hey look! 6-7!!! 6-7!!! 6-7!!! Eh? Ehhhh???? See, I can be hip! I got layers—I’m nuanced! Speaking of which, it’s about time that I have a long overdue heart-to-heart with the love of my life, Poison Ivy. All that’s standing between us is a city-sized jungle full of Swamp Thing’s prehistoric cousins. Good thing I brought my trusty Harley-machete! Saddle up, buckeroo; I gotta get my Pammy, and you’re coming with me!!

Best issue in a while. Olivares can draw this series for the rest of days as far as I am concerned.

It feels like this creative team is running its course to the end of their run, hopefully someone new will take over, but if they just had the energy this book had but for their entire run then it would be stellar. That was legitimately so good. The art and color work was out of this world on point, and focusing this story on what should be at the center of this event, the relationship between Harley and Ivy, is depicted brilliantly though Harley’s drug trip as she goes through the Ivy of times past, present, and future. This issue acts as a beautiful retrospective on their relationship and exactly where these two should be going. This issue picks up where we left off, with Harley heading out into the chaos of Gotham dead set on finding Ivy to help put a stop to all of this, or maybe help her, with the final goal of rekindling their relationship. But she is once again stopped by NKVdemon, who showed up in the last issue looking to collect the bounty on her head, as he throws a knife down to cause a prehistoric plant to burst right next to her. Harley remained careful to try and avoid breathing in the spores, but NKV knocking the wind out of her don’t help and it went right j to her system. The color work was already impressing me, but then we started to reach absolute Martian Manhunter levels of tripod as a colorful trippy world flashes in front of Harley all while trying to discern what is really a threat or not. For instance, the baby NKVdemons are not real…but the NKV with a snake head which bites onto her arm is actually a knife going into her shoulder.

But then Harley sees the vision of Ivy, right back to her classic costume, as Harley incidentally fights NKV back to push forward towards the vision of her loved one. Harley really goes through a Scrooge moment here as the first vision of Ivy takes Harley to the past when they were a costumed duo against the world, bashing heads and occasionally helping the planet while they were so deeply in love. The imagery here is genuinely beautiful and I especially love the two embracing as an industrial building explodes behind them. But then we get caught up to the present, how their relationship is severed and questions are raised if the roots of their relationship are strong enough to grow again. Harley finds herself hugging a tree when NKV comes up from behind and puts a sword to her throat. She kicks him back so far she actually cracks the codpiece protecting his private area, except when she tries to punch him again the vision fades away and he drives the knife in her shoulder even deeper. Harley fights back against the idea of dying here and not being able to see Ivy again, so much so that she rips the blade out of her shoulder and slashes the mask of NKV, which has thus far protected him from the environment. With NKV reeling back comes the next Ivy set to visit Harley, a more possible present where she speaks of getting back with Harley and never stopping the train of apologies that drove them apart in the first place. But as Harley goes in for a kiss she is told there is one more Ivy to see, and that kiss is replaced with a punch from NKV.

The art for the sliced up face of NKV is so impressive and terrifying as it contrasts with the colorful world of Harley’s trip. NKV is fully out oft blood now and would rather hear Harley scream than collect the bounty, but as he chokes her out and she tries to claw back…the hand of the last ivy comes to pull her soul from her body. This Ivy is silent and comes to show Harley a vision of the future. Usually I would say don’t go to the light, but this time it is filled with hope as Harley sees a world where she has grown old with Ivy an the two are still madly in love as they are surrounded by a garden of their creation. Harley tells Ivy she would die for her…but Ivy would rather she live! If that’s what’s waiting for Harley then nothing is going to keep her from it, she grabs hold of NKV’s mask and rips it down. He throws her off and charges at her with his sword, but as he laughs about finally killing her…he doesn’t even notice Harley flipping the sword around right into his stomach. Harley rips the sword through his body in an expert move as she throws it down and stumbles into a nearby alley where she finally passes out. She stayed alive for Ivy, and I truly hope these two get together before the end of this event. They need each other.

The art was absolutely incredible. Not the biggest fan of this issue, but the final few pages were absolutely amazing.

I just subscribed to this and I was blown away by the art. It was trippy and intense. But I hate Harley being a lesbian with ivy. I view Harley in a way that others do not I guess. Harley is classy and respectable. She is Jokers lady for God's sake. Joker does not like Harlz being portrayed in this manner.

Siempre dije que Harley Quinn iba a mejorar si cambiaban de ilustrador; no estaba equivocado. Aunque la trama es bastante simple cambia demasiado la forma de contarla gracias al trabajo de arte.
