He cleared his name once. Now he's offering him a future.
Lee Chaeha has spent his whole life as "the murderer's son." After failing as a police officer, he takes a quiet administrative post at the Danhyun Branch Prosecutors' Office, determined to keep his head down and survive.
Then he sees Prosecutor Ju Taeseon, the brilliant man who once cleared Chaeha of a false accusation, working in the same building. Chaeha is content to admire his savior from a distance. Fate has other plans, and a quiet night shift changes everything.
Taeseon notices what others Chaeha's razor-sharp instincts. Intrigued, he takes an unexpected personal interest in the reserved officer, and soon he makes an offer Chaeha can't refuse. Become his exclusive investigator and help him hunt a dangerous cold-case killer.
But partnering with the man he's quietly worshipped means working shoulder to shoulder, night after night, with a past that refuses to stay buried and a feeling Chaeha doesn't dare name.
"...but the truth is, I know exactly why."
Perfect for fans workplace romance with a power gap, cold-case crime plots, quiet pining, hurt/comfort healing, and official Korean BL translations with K-drama polish.

I’ve been super curious to read this novel before watch the drama adaptation. And they hype is real, as I devoured the first volume within 1 day!
Lee Chae-ha (bottom) though he is super timid and become outcast as soon as they know who is his father, he has been very dilligent and resilient to pursue his career in law field. He is good looking, but never think of himself in that sense.
He has proved himself to Ju Tae-seon with his hardwork by that one case that bring them together. Though, Ju might not like him due to Chae-ha’s family history.
The first volume has not really opened up their relationship to anywhere, but at least, Chae-ha has somehow earn the trust from Ju about his work as the new investigator in Ju’s team.

I really enjoyed this actually. I felt the actual plot flowed well, and although it was quite cliche, it kept me entertained for 1100 pages. So that should tell you everything you need to know. (I read all the volumes at once so this review does not only correlate to this book, but to all volumes in the series)
