From the moment I began reading I knew I was in for a treat. Although there were moments which I thought was a bit over the top, I loved the story. What’s not to love, a hot male lead, a strong and stubborn female counterpart and a villain who is good at what he does? There was sufficient romance, drama and suspense to keep me glued to my Kindle to the very end.

Admission is the first book in the Brass series and based on what I have experienced thus far, I am eager to see what Kaithlin Shepherd will come with next. In this installment we are introduced to four beautiful, smart and sexy women and their equally handsome, hot and sexy male counterparts. They have been best friends for eighteen years as such, they would do anything to protect each other. Throughout the story we get a synopsis of each of their lives which I believe is the author’s way of leaving her readers craving more of them. I enjoy reading about them and I eagerly await the moment when they each get their own story.

In this installment the focus is on Savannah Walker and Noah Johnson. Savannah is an Assistant US Attorney and Noah works for the DEA. Savannah has been in love with Noah since she was twelve years old, however, she hid her feelings for fear of rejection. Little did she know that Noah felt the same way about her, but just like Savannah he had his own insecurities. He honestly believed that he had nothing to offer her. However, fate has a way of stirring up things when we least expect it.

Savannah was embroiled in a case involving a Colombian drug cartel and Noah as a member of the DEA was assigned to work with her. Their aim was to bring to justice Colombian drug lord, Matios Vasquez. Working such a case required Noah and Savannah to spend a lot of time together, making it difficult for them to keep their feelings hidden.

Savannah is stubborn, headstrong, intuitive and caring. She will go to any lengths to protect those she loves and woe unto the person who tries to harm them in any way. Noah has a dark side which he struggles with on occasion. The author intimated that he was a dominant, however, I did not see much of this side coming out in the story.

As the story progresses, we see the tension between Noah and Savannah heating up. Then Vasquez is thrown into the mix and what we get is a story filled with romance, danger, action and suspense. Admission is a heart pounding story that had me on the edge of my seat as the events began to unfold. It was very intense. This intensity began with the prologue, which paved the way for the remainder of the story. It drew me in and whetted my appetite for more. I could not wait to find out the course of events that led to this point and what the outcome would be.

The story, which was told from the POV of Savannah and Noah was well written for the most part. There were some aspects that I thought could have been toned down, for example, when Noah kept saying the woman I love. It was already established that he loved Savannah as such I did not see the need to keep mentioning it so many times throughout the story. The author was very detailed in her descriptions which made me feel as if I was a part of the story.

Overall, this was a great read and I am eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

This is the first book I have read by Kaithlin Shepherd and it will not be the last. Savannah is working for the District Attorney's office and has the "take no prisoners" attitude. She will stop at nothing to make the put any criminal behind bars. She is also very loyal to her close friends who happen to work in around the DA's office. She is knee deep in a case that not only threatens her life but that of her friends too. Noah will stop at nothing to protect Savannah including killing if it come to that. The only way to really protect Savannah is to have her live with him, even if she wants nothing more than to be close to Noah after confessing her true feelings for him. She realizes it maybe to late to tell Noah she really does love him.
This book had me hooked from the first page. I can't wait to read more from in the Brass Book Series.

4.75 *s

First off, thanks to Hot Tree Promotions and author, Kaithlin Shepherd for allowing me a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Secondly, I'm just.... (Is still in a place of awe and emotions I can't name) My emotions for this book, the feels man. I feel like I've been on a three day binge with Jose and the Captain. (Laughs) it's a good thing my kindle has a good case on it.... because it did go sailing at one point. Not far and not hard but it went.

Savannah, Kennedy, Zoe and Annabelle are all best friends. Noah, Conner, Blake and Logan are all best friends. Add them all together and you have the makings for a new season of Beverly Hill 90210 minus some of the drama. But... when you take a look at the who and what you see it's really like the adult version of Dawson's Creek, minus the cheese (you know the whole Joey and Dawson struggle) meets Law and Order.

Beautiful, smart women in high powered jobs and tattoo covered men with badges and guns.... I mean seriously what is not to freaking love!?!? Lawyers, NYPD and DEA, oh my!

Okay, I'll be honest there were a parts where I wanted to slap or strangle them all. Trust me those moments were there.

Many may go, if you loved it why a 4.75 rating and not a 5? Well there were a few parts that I thought needed a little more. It's not that it wasn't finished it just seemed rushed to me. It that's easily overlooked all in all. It's a great story.

So.. here we go...

Savannah is a US Attorney with the mind of a scholar, the temper of a pit ill and a stubborn side that would rival many male around. She's working on a case that's now put her in danger. As with many of the cases she works she doesn't back down. She like a dog with a bone. Give her an inch and she takes the whole thing. Nothing if not all. Team her with Annabelle and they're an unstoppable train.

Noah, dark, tattooed DEA man is hot on the case with Savannah and he's hot for her. Trick is, they're both too stubborn or blind to see that the connection they've had for the last eighteen years is mutual. It's not until the threat level against Savannah is heightened that Noah takes control of the situation. Putting Savannah under protective custody along side Annabelle. Which means more time with Connor and she won't complain about that.

As things progress in the case so does the tension between Noah and Savannah. She's not one to be caged and he is not one to open up. But the bond that's always been there grows and grows. It's like watching a balloon fill with water. Sooner or later it has to overflow or burst. And when the thing burst.... years of hope, list and an unbridled passion spills all over them. Then... the sh*t storm call Vasquez happens and all hell breaks loose. Noah and Connor are sent to South America, captured and well let's just say things get dire. Savannah does the only thing she can and sends them help. The kind that needs a secret meeting and a lot of money.

But when she gets Noah and Connor back, she knows it was more than worth it. Round two of the good guys vs the arsehole doesn't fair much better but this time instead of the boys in trouble... it's Savannah. She's willing to do anything she can to save her friends. The seven people that mean the most to her in her life. And that puts her face to face with Vasquez.

What happens from there is a twisted sort of fate that one can only dream up. Revenge has never been a sweeter candy than it is to Noah and their friends now. They'd all die to protect one of their own.... but in the end it's one on one and may the best man win.

This is my first time reading anything by Kaithlin Shephard. I read the synopsis and immediately knew this book would be right up my street. I love a book with plenty of twists and turns that will keep me guessing and I believe Admission achieved that.

The story line was brilliant, I really couldn’t have faulted it at all. The anticipation over what was happening and when made me want to pick it up very time I had to set it down.

I know we will be seeing more from this gang of friends and while I really enjoyed hearing about them all, I feel the reason I couldn’t give this 5 stars was partly to do with the secondary characters. For me, I thought we just delved too much into each of their pasts and personalities. While I enjoy getting to know characters this just felt a little too much information for me.

Noah was the ideal Hero, I loved how he had a dark side and things were not always clear cut. I thought he was very alpha male, but I did expect his dominant side to show through a little more than what it did.

Savannah was such a sharp character. I could feel the air of confidence radiate off her, yet there were hints of self consciousness too which is how most females feel. I found I really enjoyed both the lead characters and how they bounced so well off each other.

I hope to hear more from the others, who featured so prominently, in the future.

This was my first book by Kaithlin and I'm hoping this was the beginning of a series because I loved every minute of this story. There was intrigue, drama, angst and hot sex. What more could you ask for from a book?

Couldn't put it down! Loved the dynamic within the group of friends and how Noah and Savannah's relationship progressed. Vasquez is the perfect bad guy, and honestly, Eric made the book that extra bit of interesting. He was disproportionately important for the amount of "screen time" he got, and I like it! Seemed a bit unrealistic at times (I feel like bullet wounds would take more than a week or so to heal), but I liked how even though it was definitely a hot steamy romance, the rest of the plot line had depth to it.

Thank goodness I took a chance and clicked on this new to me author because Admission had everything I love in a book.

Danger- check!
GREAT cast of characters- check!
Twists and turns all over the place- check!
Friends to lovers- check!
Off the charts intensity- check!

Savannah has to be one of my favorite female characters. She is strong and fearless yet shy and compassionate. She buries herself in her work to try and forget about the longing in her heart for Noah. But when a case throws them into the line of fire together, all bets are off. Noah has a fierce desire for this woman that he's kept at bay for a while now but he won't let the opportunity that has presented itself to be wasted. Together, these two bring out the sweet and sexy in each other.

From city streets to the jungles of Colombia and from double crossing to dirty talk Savannah and Noah's story was intense and captivating. I absolutely devoured this book. Kaithlin Shepherd grabbed me by the throat and didn't let go until the very end. And even then I wanted more. I also really enjoyed the big cast of secondary characters. There is a lot of history with this gang I liked getting just a taste of it. It truly whetted my appetite for more of the Brass series.

OH what a good time I had reading this book. Mystery/suspense and romance are my favorite reading genres and Ms. Shepherd did a great job mixing romance and suspense.

Admission is book 1 in the Brass series. If Admission is an example each book stands alone and focuses on one couple’s story. In this story we are following the careers and romance of Assistant US Attorney Savannah Walker and DEA Noah Johnson. Savanah is in love with Noah and has been since her teens. Noah is the brother of Savannah’s best friend. The chemistry is there and her circle of friends (including Noah) know how Savannah feels. However, she lives with the fear that acting on her attraction has the potential of breaking up friendships.

The cast of characters are fun to be with during their down time and full of suspense when they are on an op. The core characters are close friends who all turned out to make law enforcement their career.
In this segment of the story we have Savannah thrown together with Noah and Connor on a big case trying to prosecute drug kingpin Matias Vazquez. The is dangerous for Savannah in so many ways that include emotionally because she has to spend so much time with Noah fitting her feelings and also because Matias is happy killing anyone who tries to fight him.

The suspense is nerve wracking. There are some very interesting twists and turns that surprised me. The author does a fantastic job with Savannah’s character portrayal. She is a very smart, strong woman with goals and aspirations. She fears missing out on true love but fights hard for her friends. The same with Noah. He is a very brave man who puts himself on the line for his friends. I love him but he does get a virtual slap in the face a couple times in the story.

Ms. Shepherd shows her skills at writing romance with a lot of suspense and thrills. This is a roller coaster ride at times. There are scenes that make me angry with either Savannah or Noah or both but isn’t that the sign of a good writer. I enjoy the ride. In fact, I fell in love with all of these characters, their close relationships, and their careers. I can’t wait to read more about them.

Lifelong friends who know everything about you are the best group to be with when your own life is in danger. Bonding as teenagers, these high strong characters give each other strength, laughter, and most of all the affection of a self-made family that is stronger than blood.

Without realizing, these four couple who are not really a couple, have made their love choices, while staying away from changing their friendship. You can tell that one by one, these couples will have to deal with the fact that sometimes friendship has to grow into something even more intimate and you must take that risk.

This first story of the Brass series focuses on Savannah and Noah. Their friendship has slowly but surely come to the boiling point. With Noah being a DEA agent and Savannah being an Assistant US Attorney, their paths are forever entwining. When her life is in peril because of a case they are both working on, Noah has no other alternative than edge closer to the inevitable - letting his love for Savannah flourish.

This is a thrilling and suspenseful story full of romance. The plotline will keep you glued to this book as well as the characters' journey into love. I can hardly wait until the next book comes out. Which couple will be next?

***I voluntarily reviewed this book for Katsindiebookblog, and I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book.*** I was so excited about this book, I actually read it twice! What can I say, strong women and yummy men in uniforms! Savannah is an Assistant US Attorney working tooth and nail on a tough case. By doing so, it has put her life in danger as well as all her friends, who are also working on the case in other ways. However, that is not the only battle she is going up against. Since she can remember, she’s been in love with her best friends brother. Where the whole gang knows this, she’s doing everything she can do deny it. Will the time ever come that she finally shows Noah how she truly feels, or will her time with fighting a drug trafficker end it all too soon for her? Twists and turns, action at ever corner, moles, what more can you ask for in an action packed novel? To make it even better, this is only Book 1 in the series, we will be able to continue the story with all the other characters in this book, the great characters that we’ve all come to love!
If you love thrill seeking, action packed books, I highly recommend this for you, and don’t forget the yummy yummy men you will be reading and drooling about!

Savannah is an Assistant US Attorney and she's working on the biggest case of her career. She's working to take down a drug cartel. Except that she has had to pair up with the DEA and the man she's been in love with since she was 12, her best friends brother, Noah.

The pure magnetism between these two is exciting. Their struggle with their feelings and their belief that it will possibly negatively affect their relationships with not just each other but their entire group has them denying their feelings. Noah is a dominant male, and while that side of him does show throughout the book, I would have loved to have seen more of it. Savannah is sassy, strong and an overall amazing woman.

I loved this book. The prologue knocked me for six and left me mouth ajar and a 'holy moly, what the hey' expression on my face. And it just gets better from there. The intensity, the action, the sexual tension. Just left me turning pages and wanting more, eager to see what this author had install for me. I found this book to be an emotional roller coaster that I just wanted to ride through to the end. Looking forward to the rest of this books in this series.

Admission (Brass Series 1) Kaithlin Shepherd 4.5 stars

I really enjoyed this book, a great read with lots of unexpected twists and turns. I liked how the focus wasn't solely on the drug cartel case which Savannah and Noah are working on, it also covered their lifelong friendships and the strong intense chemistry that they're both so intent on fighting. Can Noah keep Savannah safe, will they finally give in to their desires and be together or will it all just be a little too late for them?

Savannah is a really strong character, she knows what she wants and she also knows so well what Noah wants and needs. They both think they are wrong for each other - but are they ?

A great read, full of drama, suspense, chemistry, passion and some seriously hot scenes. A great book which I really do recommend. I'll be looking out for more in this series.

I haven't read anything from this author before, and I was pleasantly surprised by this book.

The story was really well written, it kept my attention throughout and kept me guessing as well.
The characters we meet are all friends, again written well, and hopefully the author will bring us more from them in the future.

The storyline focused on the relationship between Noah and Savannah. They are working together to bring down a very nasty man, leading to more than one confrontation between them and the bad guy. These confrontations aren't pretty, but are necessary to the story, and to show quite how bad some people can be when involved in the wrong business.

There are more than a few very hot scenes, to be expected from characters who come across as being really hot themselves!

I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more about the characters in the future.

Assistant DA, Savannah, and DEA agent, Noah, have been friends since childhood and in love with each other for almost as long but neither admitting it. Thrown together on a case, they find themselves in close proximity on a daily basis and the sparks become harder to ignore. When threats are made against Savannah, Noah's protectiveness ratchets up a gear and he takes on her personal safety. It is only a matter of time before their friendship combusts into a more serious relationship.

I loved this book completely as Kaithlin managed to intertwine the suspense, action and romance into a seamless story. The balance between these elements was spot on. These characters get under your skin with their strength, courage and passion. It was a story that started with a bang and didn't let up until the final word had been read. Amazing read!

The story has laughs, suspense and heartbreak.

This is Savannah and Noah’s story. Savannah is a US attorney and Noah is a DEA. They are friends and have been around each other forever. When a case puts Savannah in danger Noah steps up. Can he protect her without her realizing he is in love with her? These are 2 stubborn people that are in love with each other if only they both realized it. Lots of action in this that pulls in all 4 of the couples and makes Savannah and Noah finalize vocalize their feelings. But will they take out the bad guys before the bad guys take them out?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

First of all, I want to start by saying I received a free copy of this book for an honest review.
I really hoped to like this story, and overall I did, but the writing was a lacking to me. It really could have been edited better. There was a lot of missing words or repeated words that sometimes broke up the flow of the sentences. There was a whole section in chapter 7 that was all of chapter 8, so several pages repeated.
The concept of the story was good, but the telling of the story left something to be desired. I personally felt really annoyed because it didn't really feel like the characters had their own voices, and the character building wasn't strong. We are given details about the characters and are just supposed to accept them as fact, without giving us much reason to trust that description. And don't get me started on the characters' inner dialogue. Perhaps the author was attempting to show how well they really knew each other, but the repeated phrases from both characters just adds to the fact that their individual personalities don't shine through well in the writing.
I've read stories similar to this before that I have absolutely loved. Girl in love with her best friends brother while the brother is also secretly in love with her. Those played out much better and were much more believable. Noah thinking he's not the right guy for her because of his preferences for control/power in the bedroom.... I mean, none of any of that came through in the lackluster love scenes. He didn't seem controlling or aggressive much at all to me.
I get that they both love their jobs, and they worked alot, and maybe if more detail had been added about their day to day, I would have cared. It was predictable that Noah's job put him in danger, but once Savannah found herself in pretty much the exact same circumstances, it was like that inner dialogue was almost the exact same and I couldn't even see a reason for the supposed epiphany she had. We get from the first few pages she knows she's in love with Noah and is afraid to admit it. It's NEVER a shock that she loves him, even though apparently she can tell everyone she knows except for him. It was just annoying.
This story could have been told better. I would have liked flashbacks to show us how the relationships formed and the bonds were forged. It would have made it all a bit more believable to me. The dialogue was horrible as well. It felt forced and not how conversations would actually take place.
I also didn't like how abrupt the ending was, and how quickly the final conflict between the characters was dealt with. I understand this is the first book in a series, but even though I have questions about what happened in certain scenarios, I wasn't left caring enough about any of the characters to continue reading about them.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This is book one in The Brass series and it is Savannah and Noah's story. Savannah is one of the top Assistant U.S. Attorney's and she never backs down from a challenge but when she has to work with Noah the man that she is in love with anything could happen but will it be good or bad. Noah works for the DEA and he risks his life every day but when Savannah is assigned to work along side him on a very difficult case and her life is in danger he will do everything that he can to protect her and keep her safe at all costs and it doesn't help the fact that he has strong feelings for her. What will happen next as there is danger everywhere and who can they trust and will they get out of this situation alive. There are many twists and turns along with danger, betrayal, secrets, hope, love, and other situations that makes this book really addictive and I couldn't put this book down as I had to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next. Kaithlin Shepherd is an amazing author and writer and I can't wait to read more of her books in the future as they are definitely a must read.

I absolutely loved the plot and idea of this book, the 8 best friends all in law enforcement in some way and all hopelessly and secretly in love with someone else from the friend group for years.

If you love a book with strong smart women, and strong hot masculine men this may be a book for you.

I would recommend this book to anyone who’s struggles to read for long periods and likes to take breaks.

I instantly fell in love with Savannahs character, she is a real bad ass.
And Noah is just. WOW.
Despite only a few mentions of the character Eric…he does something for me too… but maybe that’s before I love a bad guy🤭

I loved how Kaithlin included a insight of each of the characters backstory as it helped with understanding the dynamic of the friend group.

The only things that was off putting for me was that the first half of the book was a continuous repetition of I love you but you don’t know and wether they were right for each other and should tell each other.

Meanwhile in the second half of the book Savannah and Noah’s relationship started and until the last 2/3 chapters it was just sexual as majority of the scenes the couple shared were either physical sexual activities or mentions and thoughts of sexual activities.

I love good smut but in this case I would have liked to see Savannah and Noah bond more in a emotional way than physical.

BUT THAT ENDING. I WHOLE HEARTEDLY LOVED IT.

This book was so good!! Action, suspense, and romance all put together -- chef's kiss!
There were points where I couldn’t put it down because I just had to see what happened to Savannah and Noah - so beware if you are reading it before going to bed that you might not get to sleep when you originally planned. The writing was amazing and draws you in immediately. Plus, it had so many tropes! Best friend’s brother, childhood friends, ‘look at her and you’re dead’, ‘mine’, and more! AND THE SPICE!!!
Basically, this book had everything all rolled into one and was any Booktoker’s dream with all of the tropes and spice throughout! I can’t wait to read more books by Kaithlin Shepherd!

Awesome book the suspense and danger that they all end up facing is impressive. Noah and Savannah have known each other for 18 years. He doesn't think he is worthy of her love and she compares every guy to him. When her life is in danger he only trusts himself to keep her safe.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

The overall plot of the book had so much potential, but I feel everything was just really predictable.. I would have love to have read flashbacks between all of the couples to get a glimpse into more of their histories to understand the dynamics better. Time skips or flashbacks between Savannah and Noah would have filled in a lot of emotional holes that the story seems to have
