Replacement Baby

A young woman finds a box hidden under the floorboards of her Brooklyn row house. Inside the box she discovers newspaper clippings about an abducted British infant and a faded baby dress. Amongst the articles is a photograph of a baby with the young woman's name on it, yet the child looks nothing like her. Questions lead her on a journey across the ocean to London to seek answers. Will she discover who she really is? Was she adopted, or is there something more sinister about her findings?

A potentially interesting story but written in a very transparent way so that the reader figures things out way before the main character even begins to suspect. Although one of the questions that loomed large for me was why this baby was stolen when her "mother" was not at all fond of her. This question was brushed over with an inadequate explanation while lots of words were wasted in over describing the obvious. A poorly written book that could greatly benefit from some muscular proofreading and editing.

I've seen some negative reviews of this book that the reviewers need to give helpful. criticism. This book is written for young adults therefore the plot will not be as complex as a book written for the more mature reader. The plot is extremely predictable. A good editing would be extremely helpful. In one instance, an injured arm was said to be either "broken" or "fractured" when we know that those words are synonymous. Overall, this story has potential but needs some rewriting.

I liked this book, it wasn't great but it was good. The characters were interesting, but the farther I got into the story the more I knew how it was going to end. But I enjoyed it none the less.

For a short story this went on and on for ages. I didnt realise it was targeted for YA audience.
However the writer needs to research the British Law system - she told "her boyfriend" about the attack and he said he would deal with it. Errors were all over the place. Not a good read

Definitely for a YA audience (which I do enjoy reading for a refreshing break at times) 2 stars simply for the potential; however, like so many others have stated, the multiple grammatical errors took so much away from the book. A couple of mistakes can usually be forgiven here and there if the book tells a good tale, but too many and it becomes distracting. I can also go along with "Rose" being naive as a result of her upbringing, but Lionel and Julie seemed far too immature for their age. Basically, I felt like I was reading someone's ramblings as they would tell of their eventful day at the park that became boring after listening for a bit (much like Julie's chattering). I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and I will not be following this author.

The bases of the story line was a good one. But the in between was kind of boring. Example : Like they went to lunch and had this and I sat there stuff like that to me is what I call word stuffing. Words did add a whole lot to the story. But its about this girl who finds a hidden box under the floor boards in her moms closet. She think that her mom is not her real mom. She was real strict and never showed her love. So at 18 yrs. of age she took off and went to London .She ended up trusting the wrong person and her life went out of spiral. She also thought she found her real mother - dont know - didnt say. But in the end she found out who her true friends really were.

Loved this book. Can't wait to read the sequel.
When young Lisa discovers that she actually is Rose; a baby kidnapped in London 18 years earlier; her 18th birthday celebration is not much fun and it doesn't take her much time to leave NYC for London with the help of a former domestic aide. Unfortunately, her new found freedom and friendship with the nephew and niece of the domestic aide will soon be polluted by her NYC mother/kidnapper and her jewel thieves friends.

Rubbish!
One dimensional characters. Horrid grammer and spelling. Was it really necessary to repeat the characters names multiple times within a single sentence?! I'm so glad I didn't actually pay money for this drivel, once again the free section saves me.

This ebook was very prematurely published. The narrative is structurally rough, adolescently worded, and obviously not revised for clarity or edited for accuracy. I read about 20% before deciding to spend my time differently.

This book had promise and that is why I am giving it 3 stars instead of the 2 I probably should have given it. The writing was extremely juvenile and it could have definitely used an editor. Would recommend after those things were taken care of.

Terrible. The plot had potential. Unfortunately the entire book was killed by the awful grammar, countless typos, spelling errors, punctuation errors and repetitive writing style. I'm not sure why I read it to the end, but I did. Painfully. Would not recommend to anyone.

Very childish and predictable. Supposedly takes place in England, but completely unrecognisable - amusing to start with but exasperating after a while. Also lots of simple proofing errors, repeated words/ grammatical errors/ missing words.

This could have been a good book with a great plot, but there were so many typos that it took away from the continuous reading. The ending also didn't bring closure so this makes one want to read the next book in the series. I will not be buying the next book.

Pretty good I guess

Story had a lot more promise than I got. Main character is a bit too naive, but she seems to come out of it. I might read the next one. Fast paced, doesn't lag.
