Sexy Nerd Boys #1

Worth the Wait

**This is a New Adult romance novel containing some themes of domestic abuse, non-consensual sex, and explicit sex scenes. Recommended for 17+

Abby:

I have issues. Like, serious, major issues. And, the last thing I want or need is a man in my life to make things more complicated. Unfortunately for me my roommates drop dead gorgeous brother seems hell bent on seducing me. And, what’s worse is that he’s kind of the perfect guy. Resisting him just might kill me.

Ethan:

I don’t do relationships. I prefer to keep things casual, and I’m always up front with women so that no one ever gets hurt. But, my sister’s new roommate…yeah I might have a small obsession. Or, maybe I should say a TARDIS obsession because there’s a 100% chance that it’s bigger on the inside. What the hell is a guy supposed to do though when he meets a woman who is not only beautiful but also feisty, fun, and way into nerd culture? I may be doomed.

WORTH THE WAIT takes us back to K.M. Neuhold's debut book and while there are some shaky moments, it's a really enjoyable read. After a horrible and abusive relationship in high school, Abby is not interested in dating or sex at all and doesn't trust men. In fact, she's downright prickly to Ethan when they first meet but I loved her feisty personality and the fact that she's not afraid to speak her mind. Abby's an interesting mix of confident and anxious, tough and vulnerable. I really liked seeing her coming out of her shell, learning to trust, and starting to work on herself.

Ethan is also a great hero and I liked that he respected Abby's need to go slow and he never pushes. One night stands are usually Ethan's MO and he has a bit of a reputation around campus but when he meets Abby, she's all he can think about. He's protective but not overbearing and he always supports Abby. These two have their ups and downs but their chemistry was undeniable and I loved being along for the journey.

Content Warning: Alcohol and drug use as self-medication; flashbacks of domestic abuse and rape; Ethan is drugged at a party and is being given a blow job without his consent when Abby interrupts and gets Ethan home but it’s several chapters before Abby realizes it wasn’t consensual

Favorite Quotes:

"Gorgeous, smart, and not afraid to nerd it up. That is the trifecta Red." Her gaze turns even more deadly. I’m not sure what it says about me but I’m actually more turned on now that she’s glaring at me like that.

"First of all, if you ever call me 'red' again I will punch you in the balls. Second, I'm not interested so don't waste any charm on me please."

3.5/5 Platypires

As soon as I read the synopsis, I knew I had to read this one. As hard as it is to believe, I am a Whovian... and there are really not enough books that exist which use such an awesome group of people to base a romance around.

As glorious as a romance between two lovers of Doctor Who is, this was only a small aspect of the story. So, if you haven't watched the show - or you (and it pains me to say this) dislike it - then you can still read this book without any issues. Both Anna and Ethan have a lot of baggage, and much of this story is how they two of them learn to cope, overcome, and become better people despite their pasts.

I related to Anna mostly. Both of us come from an abusive relationship, and many of her struggles are ones I've been through myself. There were times I felt like I was actually watching clips from my past.

There's a lot of laughs, a good deal of intensity, many bits of sexy-times, and a few "WTF?!?!?!?!" moments. I love a book that gives me a broad range of emotions.

My issues with this book were mostly editing related. I felt it needed some work. It's not bad, but it is noticeable. Also, there were a few parts that seemed a little rushed and not fully explained. An example of this would be the entirety of the character Sarah.

Mostly though, I enjoyed reading it. It's a powerful love story about overcoming past hardships with Doctor Who references!

Worth the Wait (Sexy Nerd Boys, 1) by K.M. Neuhold ~ 4 Stars

Abby has a seriously dark painful past so she is guarded.  She has sworn off men so the last thing she needs is meeting a sexy Ethan who happened to be Abby’s new roommate's brother.  Ethan is gorgeous and he knows it.  He is always looking to add more knots to his bed post and he's got his eyes on Abby.  Abby knows his intention are completely dishonorable.  But the pair eventually become friends and surprisingly Abby finds Ethan hard to resist.  Like wise, Ethan for the first time is attracted to a woman who he finds interesting, fun, beautiful and a little feisty - he finds himself slightly obsessed with Abby.

I really enjoyed the characters in this book especially Ethan.  Abby is a little quirky, she has been through a lot and it was great to see her fight and take back her spirit and her life.  Ethan came off a womanizer at first but I was pleasantly surprised how he changed and became a different person for Abby – caring, patient and kind.  Abby was closed off with men but with Ethan sparks fly and the tiger comes out to play in the bedroom.  There were definitely scorching hot, explicit bedroom scenes.  I enjoyed the angst, the intensity and build up between Abby and Ethan.  There is also plenty of cute friendship, lust and love… basically ALL the FEELS 

I also like the storyline – I was addicted to the story right away because I was desperate to find out what happened next and if they will have an HEA.  The author did a great job with the characters, the banters were witty.  The plot, the narrative and the dialogues all flow at a nice pace from beginning to end.  I also enjoyed the secondary characters – Abby’s roommate Lee and Asher which is a nice addition to the whole story.  My only complaint is that the ending seems a bit too fast compared to the entire story.  But all over all, I enjoyed this love story with very clever Doctor Who references.  The story does touch on some sensitive matters but I welcome the background story which gave more depth to the characters.

Contemporary adult romance, dual point of view (my favorite). Very fine debut novel. Love it!

A solid and fulfilling love story.

I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed this debut novel. Worth the Wait is a romance that is almost an erotic New Adult - it's that HOT. Even though there's some drama and angst, the author was able to make it not only sexy, but also fun and sweet.

I consider myself a nerd, so I couldn't pass this one. I loved the characters and the fact that their romance started with a friendship that developed into something more. Ethan deserves the hero title. I was very happy with how the author penned their growth, they decided to finally face their issues and deal with them in healthy way. Often what we see is how the significant other is able to fix everything, while realizing they have the strength to overcome their obstacles - or look for professional help- creates a much more fulfilling and believable ending.

The cover doesn't do this book justice. The plot flowed really well and K.M. Neuhold wrote delicious dialogue and scorching dirty talk! This story gripped me until the end, I couldn't put it down! I can't wait to read the next book in the series - Asher, here I come!

I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

OMG where do I start?? Absolutely loved this book!!! Abby and Ethan are great and real. Both have their issues for not wanting relationships and have to find a way to move past that. I really enjoyed all the characters in this book. Every character is strong and you can see growth in not just the two main characters but in all of them. I loved watching the growth in Abby and Ethan so much, with everything they, particularly Abby, have gone through. I saw them not only move past their pasts but face their past as well. This story had an amazing flow. Everything from beginning to middle to end I couldn't help but love this book and this characters more and more. This is definitely a story that will pull you in and hold you there until the very end. I could not put this book down. This is one of those great stories with the writing that is so great that you literally picture everything in your mind and it becomes like watching a movie in your head. I am so glad I jumped at the chance to read this book when the author offered it to me. Thank you K.M. Neuhold!!! I don't think I could have loved this story and characters any more.

Worth the Wait by KM Neuhold

Worth the Wait is my first book from this author. I liked the book but I didn't love it and here's why: I found it somewhat difficult to connect with the main characters, Ethan and Abby, I thought some of Abby's actions and reactions were a little far fetched, and finally, there were numerous errors (typos and grammatical) that detracted a little from the reading experience.

Ethan is quite the player, has a heavy dose of sarcasm, and is completely uninterested in anything more than a one night stand until he meets the unattainable Abby. Abby herself is a complicated young lady who has been through more than anyone ever should. I like that she worked on improving herself and her physical strength. What I didn't like was her attitude and demeanor after certain events; I felt like it just oversimplified and made light of the trauma she'd experienced.

The story itself was really good. I just wish there'd been a bit more work on character development and better attention to detail.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review. I have to say I was pretty surprised by this book, I went in having never heard of the author or the book and only quickly skimming over the synopsis.

This is a debut novel for K.M Neuhold and I have to admit I really enjoyed the writing and the premise of the story.

The only problem I had with the book was Abby, I understand she has baggage and has been through some awful events in her life but I found her character tremendously hard to like.

I loved Ethan, he was so sweet and such a dork that you couldn't help but feel an instant bond with his character.

The background characters also peeked my interest and I can't wait to see what comes next.

This was a really good debut and I have to say I will definitely be jumping straight into Naughty Angel and also patiently waiting on any new books from this author.

K.M. Neuhold's debut book brings forth a wide range of emotions, delves into some deep and serious issues and fits right into the New Adult genre! Don't miss out on the start of this series.

I love that this book essentially takes on the concept of "Don't Judge a Book by It's Cover" - the whole hot sexy alpha man - Ethan - who is a womanizer but is always upfront about it actually is going for his PhD in philosophy, works at a book store and loves Dr. Who. The heroine - Abby - is the prickly and sassy roommate to Ethan's sister and is totally an enigma: she doesn't like to be touched but wants to cuddle, she has no confidence and tons of insecurities with her life and appearance but she took up kickboxing and is teaching self defense classes, and she has the sass and witty comebacks but there's also a softness to her.

A lot of this book deals with personal demons and may be a trigger for some readers. Most of the events are told in flashbacks as Abby is trying to figure out how to get on her own two feet and figure out her way in life and relationships. Abby's past is revealed slowly throughout the book and it's as if the author is slowly peeling away each layer or knocking down the walls around her heart and soul. As a reader, you slowly get to know her the same way Ethan does and understand her fears of love and sex and qualms with people touching her.

Ethan has not been ashamed to be known as a womanizer until he happens to run into his sister's roommate. He's never really cared about a woman and he admits that kissing is not an act that he will commit because it's too personal. He's always upfront with his intentions but with Abby, he genuinely cares for her and his feelings are different than they've ever been. He tends to blow through his rules and bend/break them with her. He wants to understand her and help her but he also wants to overcome his own fear. His fear of commitment comes from his past as well and it's touched on lightly throughout the book. But their journey makes them face their past and demons. They have to decide if they want to live in the past or take a leap of faith and learn to overcome it.

I have to give Ethan props for being so patient and kind with Abby. I also have to commend him for making a very hard and tough decision when he's faced with either choosing himself or being walked all over and used. I want to applaud Abby for finally dealing with her past and demons and seeking professional help. I cheered excitedly when she decided it was finally time to stop holding back and taking the leap to find something truly happy and joyous in her life.

Here's a few things that I had issues with/wanted more about and why I chose to give it only 4 stars:

First, the grammatical errors are numerous throughout the book and noticeable as I was reading. Sometimes I would stop myself and correct the word in my thoughts so it deterred from the pace. With that being said, the story was still amazing and I kept reading. I just wish there was more time spent on editing.

Second, the one secondary character named Sarah that is in Abby's self-defense class is very odd and something happens to Ethan regarding her and then she finally confesses to Abby. I feel like this whole thing is somewhat glossed over and how Ethan feels about it is never really addressed. I feel like there could have been a moment between Ethan and Abby where they connect over Abby's past and Ethan's situation with Sarah. And how it felt for Abby to find out the revelation and where her mind was at.

Third, the ending leaves me hanging somewhat. I wanted more! I hope that we get to see this couple in the next book and find out what's going on with them.

Definitely a great book!

WORTH THE WAIT BY: K.M. NEUHOLD

Worth the Wait was a great contemporary romance! I absolutely love the nerding out that was happening in this story! Even though I have never actually seen Dr. Who (I know, I know, it's on my to-be watched list, people!) I can totally respect the level of fandom Abby and Ethan had for their beloved show! Prepare to be bombarded with some Dr. Who goodness in this review, in honor of Abby and Ethan!

Abby was pretty prickly in the beginning of this story, she could come off as kind of callous at times. There were a few different occasions where I wanted to shake her a little and tell her to just stop.

As her demons were slowly revealed you did get a better understanding of why she was the way she was, and it made a lot of sense. She was someone I didn't really fall in love with right away, but as she started letting down her walls, I started to come around. I felt really terrible about some of her circumstances, and ultimately I wanted to see her find happiness in life.

Now lets talk about Ethan.

Ok, there was so much more to him than that, but it had to be said! I loved so much about Ethan. Although in the beginning, he did follow that familiar man-whore, New Adult trend. I will say that in this instance I actually pitied him though, he was like a piece of meat to these women! Pretty quickly you start to see there is much more to him and you really can't help but falling for him. He was so gentle, patient, and sweet with Abby. I loved how he treated her, even when she wasn't the most deserving of his kindness. The fact that they really bonded over their shared Dr. Who nerdom was just too freaking cute!

The secondary characters were also pretty awesome in this story, which is always a HUGE plus for me. I loathe a bunch of bland filler characters whose sole purpose is to make the main characters look better in comparison. This was definitely not the case here. I especially liked Ethan's sister, Lee. I actually enjoyed seeing Lee dealing with some heavy stuff of her own. It was clear this author spent a lot of time cultivating these multi-layered characters, it really came through brilliantly in this story.

Worth the Wait dealt with a lot of serious issues and struggles, and I really dug that. Everything felt very realistic and I appreciated the care she took in talking about these issues, and also how each character handled their problems. I loved that no one "fixed" anyone with their love. Each issue was meet with a realistic solution, that took bravery, tons of self reflection, and work. No true love bandaids here!! Hooray! I thought there was a pretty diverse set of struggles that can easily be relatable in one way or another to most people, which is also pretty cool. Besides the heavier aspects of this book, there was a lot of sweet moments, and quite a few laugh out loud moments, which I ALWAYS appreciate in a story. So be prepared to basically feel a wide range of emotions while reading this story!

I'm not a Doctor Who fan, but I am a total nerd about some other things so I was excited to read this book and see how the author did with nerdy characters. She did great! Even not being a Doctor Who fan, I was never lost in what was going on. I'm sure legit fans of the Doctor would enjoy that aspect of the book even more! It's always fun to see one of our nerdy fandoms show up in a book.

We get to meet Abby, Lee and Ethan all almost immediately when Abby moves in with Lee. I love the dynamics between Lee and her big brother, Ethan and also between Ethan and Abby. These are characters that won me over quickly and I wanted to root for them and know more about them.

Abby is a scarred, emotionally distant girl with a tragic past that has no interest in much that campus life has to offer beyond completing her education. While she seems to have formed an attachment to her roommate, Lee, she hasn't opened up to her about anything personal.

Ethan is Lee's older brother and a local Casanova among the ladies on campus. He's known for *ahem* getting the job done. Every time. This leads to a couple awkward moments, as you can imagine. He is just a good-time guy. Laid back, ready to have fun in all areas of life and not interested in settling down.

When Ethan first meet Abby, he sees her as nothing more than a potential new conquest. He thinks she's sexy, and she doesn't seem to be interested in him at all, which piques his interest even more...until he's warned off by baby sister. Then it becomes a bit of an obsession. The more time he spends around Abby, however, the more he realizes how much they have in common and how much he actually really likes her, as a person. Soon, he wants to hang out with her even above hanging out with his guy friends.

These two bond over a love of Doctor Who. Ethan can let his nerd flag fly when he hangs out with Abby. It's cute. It also draws Abby out of her shell and helps her learn to trust Ethan and eventually open up to him. These two together make perfect sense.

**MILD SPOILERS BELOW**

Okay, the things that kept me from giving this a higher rating.

Given Abby's past, I thought that their first couple sexual encounters would have been more traumatic for her than they were. Or, at the very least, would not have gone as easily as they did. Also, once they started, it seemed like they were going at it at every available opportunity. No easing into things for them! That seemed a little out of character for someone with her traumatic past.

We were told about Ethan's Casanova reputation more than we were shown. Aside from a couple of very brief encounters, there really isn't anything more to show us his history. He doesn't even seem to have the personality of a playboy.

I would have liked more of Ethan's (and Lee's) back story. We get glimpses of it here and there a couple of times but it's never really fleshed out. It left his story feeling a little unfinished.

Even though Ethan and Abby get their happily ever after, it seemed like it ended a little abruptly to me.

Overall, a solid first book from this new author and I really look forward to reading more from her! - See more at: http://kickbackandreview.blogspot.com...

Contemporary Adult Romance set amid a college campus and oozing with geek lore and pop culture references. It's Book 1 in the Sexy Nerd Boys series. The story is told from the points of view of both Abby and Ethan, neighbors who happen to share a love of Dr. Who and Netflix.

Abby has a tragic past which results in a pretty tough exterior and a strict No Hanky Panky Rule. She's scarred emotionally and physically and has a lot of hang ups.

Ethan is a playboy with a heart of gold. He's carefree and always cheerful. He also has a reputation on campus for being a Lothario.

Abby meets Ethan when she moves in with her friend Lee. Ethan lives in the apartment across the hall and happens to be Lee's big brother, so opportunity is ripe for awkward moments and sexy scenes (which are plentiful on both ends).

While Ethan and Abby hit it off pretty quickly, it seems Abby's past won't stop haunting her and Ethan's reputation is totally getting in the way of a simple road to Happily Ever After. Both of them have baggage and it certainly causes a lot of WTF moments and eyerolls during the course of the story. To be fair though, if happy endings were easy to come by then the Romance Genre would be out of business pretty quickly.

The characters are well rounded and you certainly find yourself rooting for them all in the end. I especially love that the couple in question bond over Netflix and Dr. Who marathons. The references to other forms of geek entertainment are also pretty pleasing. I'm into a lot of "Geek" stuff myself so when a random X Men or Whovian shout got mentioned, I did a little cheer.

I don't give out spoilers, but there were times when I wasn't sure what was going to happen to the couple. In the end I was pretty satisfied, wink wink.

Using the 5 Star rating method; 1= bad 2=tolerable 3=good 4=great 5= perfect, I give this book 3 out of 5 Stars and here's why.

The story is good. The characters have a lot to work through and started off a little unlikable. After the first few chapters they grow on you and become part of your book friends group. I had to take off a few stars because Ethan's back story was not as detailed as Abby's. This was important to me since both characters were telling the story simultaneously and both are main characters. There are some editing issues with the book as well. Mostly typos and font discrepancies so not too bad. This story is good. With some very small tweaking it could be perfect.

I would recommend it to the 18 years and older crowd. The love scenes were pretty steamy and described very graphically, so definitely not for kiddos. It also falls into the category of New Adult Romance and is Contemporary so it's pretty relevant with modern day issues, so definitely check it out if you're a geek, a romance junkie, or a secret pervert who likes to read about sex. (Just kidding, but definitely check it out)

This is my first book by author KM Neuhold and I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the book and it is receiving a 3.5 rating from me. I will get into all the things I loved about it first.

Ethan and Abby are the stars of the show here, meeting when Abby moves in with Ethan's sister, Lee. Ethan has a bit of a rep for being a playboy and Abby has pretty much sworn off men due to personal reasons/a painful past. Originally seeing Abby as a conquest, a new body to add to his pile up of one night stands, Ethan is surprised when they fall into more of a comfortable friendship. Abby is equally surprised to find herself comfortable in the presence of a man, and when she realizes just how much she and the casanova have in common.

I really loved the characters in this book, ALL OF THEM! The author did an awesome job building each character and developing relationships between all of them. The build up between Ethan and Abby was almost as great as the outcome in their story! She also did a great job with the nerdy talk because even though I don't follow all of the things she mentioned, I had no problem understanding or keeping up with what she was talking about.

Ethan is a complete stand up dude in my book. The way was there for Abby through her fears, taking things as slow as she needed them to be and helping to build her back up is just admirable to me. And Abby definitely had some positive attributes, she really took control of her life and empowered herself in spite of what happened to her.

Okay so with all these great things to say ..why the 3.5?? ***May be considered spoilers below****

1) There were quite a few editing issues. I don't usually take off for these because I am usually so absorbed in the book that I don't notice, but there was enough for me to notice in this book.
2) I felt like given Abby's history things would have went a little differently after they started messing around. She seemed to have gone from scared to be touched to a sex goddess overnight. That part didn't flow very well for me.
3) The ending seemed to just happen. I know endings happen all the time, but it seemed abrupt. I felt this build up and then BAM! The end. I would have liked a little more at the end.

If it weren't for these few issues it would have definitely been a 5 star read for me. The characters were awesome, the story flowed well, the banter between all of the characters was hilarious, it contained all the feels and there was some hotness!!

✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ FOUR 1/2 - STAR ✩ REVIEW ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩

⭐ ⭐ Provided by Author in Exchange for an Honest Review ⭐ ⭐

Judging a Book by it's Cover:
A younger New Adult couple in somewhat awkward embrace, colors appear slightly washed out or desaturated. Scripted font over the pose could have been in a different color to stand out, but as it is, it blends in in places. The series name was completely overlooked until right now. Synopsis reads like many Young to New Adult romances filled with post-teen angst and drama.

Looking Deeper:
As the synopsis implies, this is an alternating first-person POV story which are clearly marked for easier following. Also, it is noted that there are some trigger subjects within this story, I'd like to expand on that by stating that all of the trigger subjects are visited as flashbacks or retold in past tense as Abby struggles and learns to overcome the issues of her past. Abby's is a likable character, and yes, she does have some issues and difficulty getting past them. Ethan, for being the most honest womanizer ever, is the most patient and kindest man on the planet to Abby. He deserves a medal for his endless reserves of patience and tolerance. My heart actually hurt for him a time or two. The secondary characters add enough layers to beef up the main story line without it being overpowering. The dialogue and interactions seem very age-appropriate, even down to the Single White Creeper... The plot flowed really well and was able to keep me interested - even through the drama and new adult "I had a crappy childhood" angst. Most of the conflicts are internal, with each having some past parental issues to work out. Outside conflicts are addressed in a believable manner. Predictability was low. The conclusion was solid and satisfying. I hope that Lee and Nikki's story will be touched upon some more throughout the series.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I did have a surreal LOL moment while reading the book and the song on the radio matched the song "playing" in the book. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, but honestly hope that Remy does not get a book and a HEA - that was not a likable character to me. But for now, I look forward to reading Asher's story.

I need to start this by saying, this is my first K.M. Neuhold novel. It most definitely will not be my last. I didn’t know what to expect when I started Worth the Wait. What I got was a hilarious heartbreaking story. That doesn’t sound right does it? Yet, somehow that is what K.M. Neuhold pulled off.
Abby and Ethan are fantastic together. Their banter and text messages had me laughing out loud. Their flirty sexy texts had me fanning my face and looking around to make sure no one could see the blush creep up my cheeks. They are super-hot together! Then, there is this whole other side to them, the real stuff, the emotional side of connection. Each of them fought their emotions, making their evolution natural and real.
Now, the heartbreaking, Abby is a strong character. I loved that about her! Ms. Neuhold does a great job showing us Abby’s “prickly” side. I could feel Abby over compensating, trying to cover up the broken girl inside. I really loved that about her, as heartbreaking as her life story is; she has made it a point to be strong. I won’t spoil it for anyone but she has a tragic back story that is revealed slowly.
Ethan, what can I say about sexy playboy Ethan? He’s HOT! Ethan has met his match is sassy Abby, boy oh boy, Abby gives as good as she gets. Under all that hot boy exterior, we find a heart that is true and patient.
I was a little nervous about the “nerd culture” as I am not into it. I needn’t worry, the nerd culture was there, it brought a lot to the storyline, but you do not have to know what they are talking about to appreciate it. For example- *tiny almost spoiler* I have never seen an episode of Doctor Who… (running and ducking for cover… sorry) however I didn’t have to necessary understand the reference to keep up with the story. I actually loved the “nerdy” connection.
We also get a great cast of secondary characters. Lee is Abby’s roommate, and Ethan’s sister she is downright hilarious. I have to add that Lee and Abby have a text exchange that is so damn funny, I actually saved it. I will be stealing some of those one liners to use in real life. Overall it was a great book, well written with a well thought out storyline. Thank you for the opportunity to review.

I was excited to read this book right from the get go. Sexy Nerd Boys…. I’m sold! Abby hasn’t had the greatest luck in life. She has a past she isn’t proud of. She mostly keeps to herself especially when it comes to guys. But when Abby moves in with Lee, she has no idea how much Ethan is about to push his way into her life.

Ethan is a playboy. He doesn’t do relationships and isn’t looking to settle down anytime soon. But after meeting Red aka Abby he knows there is something different about her. They form a strong friendship but lines start to blur and Ethan wants more from Red, but she isn’t ready to give him what he wants.

This story does deal with a few issues people might have problems reading. I hated what Abby had to go through but it made her so much stronger than what she realized. Abby has a spitfire personality and I loved her from the get go. Ethan knows Abby needs time but he just doesn’t know how much time she needs. I loved watching the changes in both Ethan and Abby. They were such a strong beautiful nerdy couple. I also feel in love with Lee and I would love to see a book or novella about her one day. I can’t wait to dive into book 2 and find out what sexy nerdy boy awaits next!

Worth the Wait (sexy nerd boys) by K.M. Neuhold

This book gripped me from the beginning. I love how the story drew out and the amount of back and forth between the characters. There were definitely some funny moments. I'm not going to lie though, there were a few time I wanted to reach through the kindle and smack this chick for being so wishy washy. I honestly don't think the book would have been as good as it was if she wasn't that way though. I have seen this book and just glanced through it and never really took the dive to read it, then...I read it...I'm now glad I did.

The guy was a horn dog but at the same time he was a teddy bear! And who would not love the fact that the chick is both feminine but could kick his ass in a heart beat if she really tried? The fact that the author added slight stories to explain the other characters in the book was awesome! I loved that fact because it is more realistic while reading it. I could literally picture the entire book in my mind like watching a movie...Does anyone else do that?! I am so ready to read more by this author mainly because I love the way that she write and makes it seem more realistic and as if you are watching a TV show or lifetime movie instead of reading a book.

I wasn't really sure what I was going into when I started reading this book. I read the synopsis but to be frank, I'd never read a K.M. Neuhold book before. In fact, I'd never heard of the woman. After having read Worth the Wait, that is SUCH a shame. I loved this book to the point that I didn't want to put it down. :D

So I devoured it! I loved the characters, even though at first I was unsure if I'd like Ethan. Abby really has issues, just like the synopsis says. To that extent, it covers the book wonderfully! What it can't tell you, however, is how much you will fall for these characters. Not just the main ones either, that have an intense chemistry that they both fight, but also the co-characters too. I fell in LOVE with Asher!

If you're looking for something new, something that you won't want to put down... something that might just have you up all night, flipping pages. Read this book! Characters, plot, chemistry, wonderful writing and a wee bit of angst. It has it all.

My only complaint and it wasn't even enough to get me to lower my rating, was the grammatical errors you might find. They just weren't jarring enough to bring me out of the story.

Overall, five stars! Loved it!

Carla's Four Star Review

This is the first book in the Sexy Nerd series, and it is the story of Ethan and Abby.

After a dark and painful past, Abby has sworn off all men. It has been years since she felt any kind of attraction to a man, but that all changes when she meets her roommate's brother. Ethan is the definition of sexy. The problem with her attraction to him is the fact that he is well known for being a "manwhore". Due to his own past issues, Ethan avoids commitment at all costs. From the moment he first sets eyes on Abby, he wants her. After she refuses to sleep with him, they each decide to be friends. As they spend more and more time together, their attraction for one another grows. Can these two overcome their past demons and find the love and happiness they both deserve?

I really enjoyed this book. Ethan and Abby were great characters, and it was easy to fall in love with both of them. While this book contains some dark situations, I thought the story line was awesome! If you are looking for a great romance with the perfect amount of angst, this is the book for you!!

This book was pretty freaking awesome. Abby wasn't kidding when she said had issues in the synopsis and it was so nice seeing her overcome her issues and fears throughout the story and not let herself be a victim. She was fierce and I absolutely loved her. Ethan was so great throughout the entire story, he was so patient and understanding with her when a lot of guys would have most likely given up and went after some easy tail. The sex scenes were totally not and I loved all the texts they exchanged. Reading this book was an absolute pleasure and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
The only reason I'm not giving this book a five is because I would have liked to see some of them after they got together officially. (I'm really hoping to see more of Ethan and Abby at some point in the future!) A couple of the nerdy references I didn't get since I've never seen Doctor Who in my life but now I kind of want to watch the series to see their favorite doctors and see their cosplay inspiration.
Can't wait to read Asher's book and see his nerdiness!

Worth the Wait is a romance story that will take you on a tumultuous journey and show you what true love really looks like.

Abby has an extremely abusive past and holds many dark secrets that have left her broken and feeling undeserving of happiness.

Ethan is a total man-whore, but also a really nice guy. His past has caused him to believe there’s no such thing as love. He refuses to be in a relationship, instead sticking to his rules; one night, no strings attached and no kissing on the lips.

They are both in their own way broken. But when they met, it felt so natural for them to be together. I loved how their friendship blossomed; I loved their shared geekiness; but most of all I loved how Ethan allowed Abby to be her own hero.

K.M.Neuhold pulls the reader in from the start and gives the reader a strong emotional connection to the story and characters. Her writing is truly magical. From the moment I started reading I couldn’t stop. This is not your typical romance story, Worth the Wait is truly something special. This book is one that will stay with me for a very long time.

Not a bad read. This is the first book in the series that introduces you to a new adult romance series. You get a feel for the characters and their relationship. They have to work through their baggage, her past relationship with the abusive boyfriend. His baggage, he can't settle down with one woman. There is the attempt at making them into nerds or geeks, like interest in Doctor Who, going to a Con together, and watching fantasy movies, but there isn't a big aspect of the book. It seems a bit tacked on to give the characters more flesh for details. Like being into Math too makes you a nerd. Hmm.

But, other than nerds being a type, it had some really hot dialogue, intense emotional drama, and good relationships between the characters. I looked forward to reading it every night. I've already downloaded and started reading the second book in the series.

I recieved this book in exchange for an honest review:
This book was amazing and very HOT! Main character Abby is sassy and doesn't think very highly of herself throughout the story and the love interest is Ethan and he makes me mad and smile at the same time. Abby doesn't think she is good enough to have true love and Ethan is a player who figures out that Abby is different then all his other conquests. I love how the story played out and went back a few times to replay some of the best parts of this awesome book! Definitely Mature content so I would recommend to the mature reader and think many of my friends and followers would adore Abby and her scars and her witty dialogue and Ethan in all of his hotness and kindness towards Abby. I give this book 4 stars and loved it and will be now reading book 2:)

Booksmacked review

Abby and Ethan er two young college students who in some areas are identical and in another area miles apart.
The have similar taste in movies and tvshows.
The tv show dr. Who is mentioned very often. I don't know the show but these two characters love it.

But while Ethan is a man whore Abby is a frightened girl when it comes to sex.

Abby comes from an abusive past and have a hard time trusting men and getting close to them. Ethan has commitment issues and uses sex to escape relationships.

Their relationship turns from friendship to lovers and throughout their journey we learn more and more about them.

It's a nice story. It's a bit dark due to the flashbacks we see so if you want a light funny book then this isn't it. However if you don't mind small passages of dark memories and snappy comments then this is the book for you.

Enjoy

Abby (Red) and Ethan have so much to over come before they can admit what the feel for each other, and sometimes just admitting you have feelings is the hardest part. Even Ethan's/ Abby's best friend Lee has something to over come.
Abby had a rough past with her ex and it makes it hard for her to let anyone get to close, that and shes hiding a few secrets from Ethan that shes worried will make him run.
Ethan doesn't do relationship but he is quickly finding he wants one with Red but she's skittish at times and he doesn't want to push too hard.
When a mistake pushes them apart it forces them to admit the things they have been scared of.
(Worth The Wait deals with a few subjects that not everyone will be ok with.)

Abby and Ethan have SO much to overcome while together and apart. My heart went out to them as they both transformed through the story into better reflections of themselves.
Between Abby's physical and emotional scars I was more worried for her story at the beginning then I was Ethan's. But as they bonded over their "nerd" ways I started to see just how much they were helping each other grow. Add in the fact that they start as friends and there isn't insta love and I was able to enjoy their story more then I first thought.
There are a couple of twists and turns in the story that I wasn't expecting but I love it when an author catches me off guard. I can't wait to see what comes next in the "Sexy Nerd Boys" series.

I've always liked stories that take two seemingly broken people and bring them together, making them whole. The pairing between Ethan and Abby was well done, and I especially liked how the author captured the despair and vulnerability in Abby, while still having her be a strong protagonist that stood up for herself. The Doctor Who references were *spot on* (Tenth Doctor obsessed over here), and the underlying nerd culture was really fun. I did find myself distracted by a number of punctuation and spelling errors made throughout the book, and the writing felt very choppy in the beginning until it caught on to a more consistent rhythm. Overall, a good read.

Note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. A big thanks to the author for sharing their work!

Love finding new authors and this one is no exception. It is the story of a Abby who can't move forward stuck in her terrible past. She meets her roommates brother Ethan who has a reputation for one night only hookups. They find their common interests and become friends and maybe more. I felt for Abby as she struggled with her past and found myself loving Ethan more and more as the story went on. I read it in one sitting which I do with stories that I get engrossed in. I cand can't wait for the second book in this series to come out. This was a fantastic read with an HEA.

OMG a book that plays to my geeky, nerdy self!!!!

Abby and Ethan are wonderful characters. They have real life issues and fears and both are worried that they'll never find someone who gets all their quirks! They grow throughout the book and I loved the whole buddy thing they have going on, each too scared to make the move they know they want to make.

There are so many layers to this story and Abby's back story especially is dealt with in such an empathetic way. I so felt like I was watching a movie in my head - always a sign of a good book!!
