There were diamonds in that old family mine, Skye Blackbird was sure of it. She'd be able to prove it, too, and fulfill her Ojibwa chieftain father's dream, if it weren't for paleontologist Jake Baxter, who was searching for dinosaur bones in the very same spot.
When sabotage occurred at the dig's site, Jake wasn't sure if it was angry locals or a rival paleontologist who had done it. But someone didn't want the earth disturbed, and as the body count mounted, it appeared that same someone might also want to add him and Skye to the tally....

3.5 stars. This is the second in the Great Lakes Legends series. Skye Blackbird, an Ojibwa woman, has run the family mine since her father's disappearance many years before. If she can find the diamonds he believed were there, it would be another connection to his memory. However, dashing paleontologist Jake Baxter may upend her dreams. His discovery of fossilised dinosaur eggs could mean the closure of the mine. Add Skye's growing attraction to him, a bit of sabotage, and a murderer on the loose, and you have the perfect mix for a story of romantic suspense.
This is one of Colleen Coble's earlier books. The writing is not up to her best, but I did like the characters and scenario. I'd put it in the light holiday read category and I enjoyed it on the whole.
A very fast paced suspense type romance. There were some portions that were a little hard to follow, perhaps there was a book that I have not read yet that fills in the gaps. Overall definitely enjoyed it and this author.
Colleen writes about characters you come to care about that deal with the question "why do bad things happen to good people?" God's plan is often wove out of the struggles and questions we have when we face our greatest fear only by hanging on to our Father's hand and taking one step at a time.
Good Christian romance w/out being preachy . Good appreciation for a locale and interesting information about same. Good characters and good level of intrigue.
