Could Have Been 4-5 Stars if Not So Completely Unrealistic

I wish that I could have rated this higher but I just couldn't get beyond the situation with Ari's best friend Ericka!! She's happily married to Ted but still "has a crush" since high school on Asher (Ted's best friend) who is married to and in love with HER best friend Ari, who was equal parts annoying and irrational since she was willing to marry Asher under the guise of: 1) helping him clean up his public image (as a bad boy/ playboy) since his Father was running for Governor and 2) SHE needed to save face at her family reunion which would be attended by her boorish ex who left her for her skanky/greedy cousin BUT she couldn't admit (to herself or to anyone else) that she actually loved Asher also BECAUSE SHE DIDNT WANT TO HURT HER DELUSIONAL M*A*R*R*I*E*D BEST FRIEND'S FEELINGS BECAUSE SHE STILL HAD A "CRUSH"ON HIM!!!! And what about her husband Ted?!!!! How many men are gonna be okay with their wife desiring another man and not speaking to her best friend because she married him even if rationalized as "the way you crush on a movie star and they get married and you automatically hate her"??!!!!!! What the hell! This book could have been so much better!! I've enjoyed books by this author before -- love her writing style and, for that reason, I will probably purchase future books by her. Unfortunately, it didn't appear that this one was well thought out.

The blurb of this book was soooooo good, but the book?

The start of the book was something I really liked. My favourite scene in the book would probably have to be the scene where they faked sex. I loved loved loved that!

And i also loved Asher's playboy and womanizer character as well his name, but towards the end of the book, i kinda started cringing at his use of 'baby' every time he talked to her. Have i mentioned i hate pet names?

And when i say i hate pet names i'm talking about the one's regularly used like honey and sweetie and baby. Unless its something the character made up because it suits the other character so well. Like the one Patch gave Nora: Angel. And like what Daemon called Katy: Kitten. And How King called Doe: Pup.

Now those i love.

Anyway the gif below pretty much sums up the book, so if you wanna, give it a go.

2 1/2 stars. great writing but I couldn't get over Ari best friend Erika. A happily MARRIED women who have a crush on Asher , who, oh btw happened be her husband best friend. If that isn't awkward enough, how about the fact that her husband know about this weird ass crush. Tbh I really wanted the book to have focused more on Ari and her cousin than the best friend drama.

I take points away for what is essentially a set up that doesn't feel very credible. But overall this was a quick, fun read.

Ari and Ash are friends who have known each other forever but have Ari has kept firmly Ash in the friendzone despite Ash's broad hints he'd completely like to do her.

Ari's boyfriend dumped her for her scheming cousin and the two cheaters plan to announce their engagement at Ari's family's big ass reunion.

Asher's father is running for Governor and Ash has a bit of a bad boy rep. He's basically a player.

Ari is not looking forward to being the recipient of pity looks at the reunion plus dealing with her cousin's smugface.

Ash needs some rep rehab ASAP!

Hey. let's get married! Temporarily! And, what the heck, let's have lots of sex too!

So they do.

What really saves this book for me is the ridiculous chemistry between Ari and Ash. And actually I liked Ash's not-so-hidden long-time devotion to Ari.

Ari loses a few of those points for being so blind and obstinate at times.

And Good lord, the amount of enabling Ari gives to her best friend Erika re: her crush of Ash is rather dumb. Erika is not only Ari's best friend but she is married to Ash's best friend. However she has always had a thing... supposedly nostalgic... for Ash. It is one thing to have a benign crush on a hot guy, even if you are married. But Erika's "crush" is a little more proactive than that -- she actually attempts to sabotage any hint of non-platonic relationship between Ari and Ash . Rather than being disturbed by this, the other three seem to be rather indulgent about her feels. Yeah, no. I'd be like 'Bitch, you're married. Deal with your inappropriate feelings in a more appropriate way."

"The Arrangement" by Thayer King was quick but cute, and funny tale. Asher and Ari were a memorable couple once they got through past misunderstanding from when they were kids! There 'arrangement' was doable since a reunion was approaching and she needed a marriage of convenience to save face and Asher needed to fix his playboy's ways since his father was running for governor. They actually got to see what they were really feeling for each other even though Ash already knew exactly how he felt for Ari! But Ari's friend Ericka --- no way, no how just really took away from the story to me.. Besides that, "The Arrangement" i strongly recommend!

Would love to read more about Ash and Ari in the future!

4 memorable and relatable stars excluding Erika!!!!!!!!! ****

I LITERALLY have no other tags for this!
Someone ranted how he can have OWs while being in love with h since she was a minor?
Well that was actually the part that was somewhat forgivable, she gave a damn good impression of preferring a barracuda to the hero up until after the marriage!
But what was unfathomable:
1. Ari's "best friend" Erika (who is also Asher's best friend Ted's wife) has always had a crush on Asher, therefore she told Ari, Asher, for you is untouchable, thus the facade of hatred!
2. She (Erika) NEVER stood a chance, first she was best friend's sister, then he just didn't feel it, then they were JUST friends, then the ULTIMATE no-go zone, she was the best friend's girlfriend turned wife.
3. While being happily married to Ted, Erika is still sporting the crush which her husband is QUITE aware of and finds hilarious. Why? Beats me!
4. She knows Asher is TERRIBLY unhappy, he can't commit to anyone, hasn't been able to get over his crush with Ari, and actually has been living in hell since he realised that she might be serious with her current bf! (At this point when he realised he has completely lost Ari, as Ari was getting serious with her last bf, he actually realised his love and finally became celibate). Yet, Erika, is selfishly HAPPY about ALL this as Asher isn't happy with someone else other than her and keeps working on keeping them apart.
5. She actually admits she enjoys it when he's single.
6. Throughout high school she helped Ari believe Asher hated her and vice versa.
7. She tried her best to sabotage the wedding.
8. She ACTUALLY asks Asher why not her!!!!! WHILE she's married to his best friend and he's about to marry Ari!
9. She then accuses Ari of hurting her feelings and being easy for sleeping with her HUSBAND!
10. Ari does finally, FINALLY tell her she needs to get the shit together, Asher would at some point settle down with someone and whoever it is with, it is NOT going to be Erika!
11. Asher had to point out a number of time what a selfish bitch Erika was.
12. Her reasoning: it was like crushing on the single movie star, and then instantly hating the bitch who gets to marry him and crush your dream!
FUCK. ME. SIDEWAYS!
The evil cousin and frog prince ex sounded like a blessing compared to the "best friend"!
She had a loving husband who she also apparently was head over heals in love with, and then she wanted her crush always moping and single or at most fucking some bimbo without attachment but within her reach, he'd be at all the holidays, and anniversaries. She'd have her husband and family. She won't have him, yes, but then again, he won't have anyone either! Brilliant? Don't you think? She'll have her cake and eat it too! If anything I totally see her psychology, she was punishing him for not choosing her by destroying his one shot at love yet the author didn't have the courage to recognise that and paint her as the protagonist!!! She was a sadist!

***BEGIN RANT***

couldn't even finish :,(
If H was so in love h since before she was legal (AND aware of this) how could he keep having OW!?! I literally stopped when he called the OW "diversions"! WTF!?!??

I'm biased I know it, but is it so bad to want to read about love, where the word holds so much strength, tht you can't live or breath without the person you claim to love...? where you're connection to this person holds you from achieving any gratification from another relationship (quickie or casual)! :[
How can you tell yourself you love someone so confidently, then with the same breath go fuck someone else???

This was really cute hate to love story. Loved the main characters. I ship them so hard 😩

Totally recommend this book.

Fyi I'm flabbergasted by the way the female "best friend" acted towards the main leads romantic development even though she's married. Like girl you have a whole husband why are you this pressed???? also her husband is a total pushover for allow his wife to disrespect their marriage like that.

Asher has wanted Ari since they were young, but she couldn't tell from the way he always teased her. Whenever they two were in the same room it always ended with the two of them making snide comments at each other. Over the years, since they ran in the same circle of friends, their meetings always ended the same way, with them arguing. Ultimately, they call a truce and decide they can work better helping out each than hurting each other.
This was a great story about two people helping each other out only to realize they are better together than apart. I enjoyed them going at each other in an out of bed. I give this story 4.5 stars.

Good Book

Good quick read, Asher and Ariadne were cute.I love the premise of a thin line between love and hate and the sex was WOW!!! But the books by this author always are super hot. The only thing I didn't like was they went from hate to love and marriage really quick. If the book was a bit longer then maybe the story we would have seen the transition but it was still a good book.

Good in the beginning. Nice tension, excellent chemistry and passion.

A bit saccharin toward the end. Too many "baby"s and "ILY"s.

Totally Enjoyed this book

I’ve given this book stars but I never given a review for this book...and I’ve read it several times.

Minus a few grammatical errors...this book is a great read with a great story about unrequited love and boundaries ...

That a boy who grows into a man who has everything, could love a woman and not be able to get her for years was well written and it flowed without feeling rushed or overdone! Especially since the story is not that long.

This book is great when discussing boundaries that we all need to adhere too in our relationships because the cousin (Janice) was sooo out of pocket for her behavior in sleeping with her cousins man and then agreeing to marry him - all because she was jealous of Ari...and the fact that when stuff like that happens the family generally ends up being strained because of it.

Ari was getting friction from all sides.... 1) her cousin slept with her man (Daniel).....2) the man (Ash) that loved her since high school had been using other women to forget the one he couldn’t have (Ari)....3) her best friend Erica since grade school was in love/lust with (Ash) but he wanted Ari and she knew it and didn’t tell her friend because she wanted him...and the fact that it was more than likely that he would never be interested in Erica... she pretty much acted like she had a chance and kept telling her friend in confidence how much Ash meant to her in order to keep Ari from noticing that she was the one Ash wanted!

And even after Erica got married she was still lusting after Ash obsessively...which was over the top and very harmful especially since her husband and Ash had been friends....how her husband wasn’t resentful towards his wife’s obsession with his friend was DOWNPLAYED DRASTICALLY especially since he and Ash had been friends for since before high school as well...that part was unrealistic that he wasn’t more out of sorts because of that...whew it was too much!

But don’t take my word for it. Get it. Read it and thank me later! 😉

A good read

I was excited to delve into the complex relationship between Asher and Ariadne. This novel did not disappoint. From the first page, I was hooked by the intense chemistry between the two main characters. Their contentious relationship, underscored by a secret attraction, kept me eagerly turning the pages. Their constant bickering and underlying passion create a delicious tension that builds throughout the story. I found myself rooting for them despite their stubbornness and obstacles. Their journey from enemies to lovers is both engaging and satisfying.

One character who stood out to me, albeit negatively, was Ariadne’s so-called best friend, Erika. She struck me as selfish and manipulative, putting her interests first and undermining Ariadne. Her actions added a layer of conflict to the story, making Ariadne's eventual happiness with Asher all the more rewarding. The family reunion scene is, without a doubt, one of the book's highlights. Asher and Ariadne's steamy encounter was the epitome of the slow-burning tension that had been building up between them. It was a pivotal moment that overshadowed whatever drama Janice and Daniel tried to stir up.

One critique of the book was the lack of smooth transitions between scenes. Sometimes, I felt momentarily disoriented by the abrupt shifts in the narrative. A bit more finesse in weaving the story's various elements would have made the reading experience even more seamless. Despite this minor flaw, it is a story worth reading, especially if you're a fan of romance with a touch of drama. This is a must-read.

He had to find a way to have her

Asher had been in love, with Ariadne since she was sixteen years old. But the two were like oil and water together. What he didn't know was that she was just as into him as he, was into her but, so was her best friend Erika. Asher was a playboy going through a slew of women never making a commitment to any of them. They were just diversions because they were not whom he really wanted. Ari was determined not to get her heart broken by him. Instead, she got her heart broken by her boyfriend who left her for her cousin and now the family reunion was coming up and she didn't want to be embarrassed by her cousin and her ex. Asher hatched a plot that would help her out as, well as help him out. Now that he had her, Asher had to find a way to keep her. The family reunion tickled me with how they were able to convince everyone, especially Ari's ex and her cousin they were really into each other which revealed to them that they really were.

The story kind of ends abruptly. I wanted to read more about how successful Asher's plans were for his father and if Tara presented any more problems. I'm glad that the two best friends mended their relationship but I wanted to slap Erika. She was WAAAAY out of line. Ted should have put his foot down but he did facilitate their makeup.

Thin line between love and friendship

Ari and Asher were good together. The arrangement was nothing new, but the underlying story was. Asher took advantage of Ari's predicament to get the love of his life. Ari finally stopped overanalyzing and went for what she wanted, even though she didn't know it. The characters and story were well written and developed. Too bad we didn't get the outcome of his dad's bid, part of why he married her. Her friendship with Erika may never be like it was but glad they worked it out. There is a thin line between love and hate, but this story was a thin line between love and friendship. I highly recommend this book.

Ok I have read 📚 this 📖 book 3 to 4 times already... I just loved this book 📖. Really all the books by this author. Janice and Daniel got what they deserved for doing that to Ari the grass ain't always greener. Erika was ssoooooo wrong for what she was doing to them an taking out her high school crush out on her friend and for letting Ari think 🤔 that Asher didn't like her either just because she wanted him. But glad she can see reason now and she has expected that he wasn't for her and to let them be happy 😊 together......

Short, spicey & sweet.

From frenemies to a HEA couple. Funny how Asher spent years being an idiot toward his one true love & she fought against & insulated herself from him reacting to his stupidity and her BFF's selfish obsession.
Way too many overly detailed sex scenes in such a short read for my taste but the basic story is delightful and I couldn't help but like Asher, Ted & Ariadne. Nice...😉
