Memoree Layne Smith knows exactly what light can do. As the owner of The Lighted Layne, she has built a career transforming spaces with it. So when she walks into Kryptonite Reserve for a lighting consultation, she expects to study the room. What she doesn’t expect is Ledger “Kryptonite” Johnson to study her.
Powerful, observant, and dangerously sure of himself, Ledger is the kind of man accustomed to getting exactly what he wants. From the moment the light shines on Memoree Layne, the lighting in his lounge is no longer the main reason for their meeting. She is the deal he wants to close with the lighting being a consolation prize.
Ledger is a self-made businessman who has money, power, and respect. Unfortunately or fortunately for Memoree Layne, Ledger has never been a man who knows how to want anything halfway. The deeper he falls, the more his protection becomes possession, his interest becomes obsession, and their undeniable chemistry threatens to illuminate every part of them, whether they want it to or not.
Light does so much more than make things beautiful . . . it reveals. Watch a new lighting concept reveal a love between two people. Two people who are as different as they are the same. Two people who only deserve to be loved in the light.

This book concentrated more on the lighting techniques and her business than the actual love story. What is it about Memoree that Ledger like vice versa, that part seemed rushed. How jas Vitaligo been a challenge or at all for her. It just missed the mark for me. I was bored.
3.5 ⭐️. Good read. No big feelings but I enjoyed. I’m a big fan of representation. This is my first time reading about an albino mc. I enjoyed that she was confident in herself and the mmc didn’t play about her. They were cute. I would recommend for a nice chill read.
Very fast paced read! It was a feel good and a fun read for me. The story was refreshing and drama free. Loved how the author allowed Memoree Layne officially end the relationship with her ex., Nathan. It was a classy move! His fiancée, Veronica, was calm and put an end to him as well. Clap for both ladies.👏🏽
Loved Memoree Layne and her passion for lighting, and developing her Lighting Layne business. This opened my eyes to something new. I've never thought about how much lighting causes this much effect on a setting. She was a sister who knew her worth (the ex found out) and would put you in your place, about her and her knowledge of lighting.
I loved Ledger equally as the head of Kryptonite Lounge and other entities. I loved his vision and go getter ambition. He instantly fell for Memoree Layne and went for her. He was correct, out the gate. She was feeling him as well, and gave him a shot.
It doesn't have to take months and years to know who is for you. The two figured this out immediately. He listened and saw her and she did the same exact for him.
This was a cute and sweet love story. I loved Memoree Layne and Ledger together. Their banter was funny and their chemistry was strong. They both stood ten toes down behind the other and supported each other. Ledger was very intentional in his pursuit of Memoree Layne and I loved that for her.
I always love how this author has unique character names and how she always highlights unique characteristics like Memoree Layne having albinism in this story. I also appreciate the creativity in the characters’ careers and the research done to highlight those careers throughout the story.
If you’re a Mel Dau fan, this is another good story to dive into. It has her usual funniness mixed with a couple that might be a little toxic but loves each other unconditionally and loves each other out loud. I also wouldn’t mind getting a story based on Cole and Sasha and seeing him boss up on her.
I can honestly say that I have never read a Mel Dau’s book that I have not loved!! When she tells a story you can’t help but fall in love with the characters and their journey to love! Sometimes the journey is bumpy and sometimes it’s smooth sailing just like Memoree and Ledger!!
When you know you know and they both knew at first sight that there was more to their meeting than updating the lighting in his business and the rest was history.
I would love to read more about Sasha and Cole because I feel we need to Scootch in to their story but time will tell how the light with lead Mel Dau and her pen.
If you haven’t read this book yet, definitely add it to your TBR you will not be disappointed!
This was such a beautiful, easy read!!!…I love the patience that Memoree Layne had when explaining her complexion to the little girl and didn’t shy away of make the moment awkward either!!!… Ledger was such an amazing soul match for Memoree!!!…I love the way he continued to let her know how beautiful she was and how he adores such the simple things about her and was not rushed or bothered with her questions!!!… I hope somewhere down the line, we get more of them, because we really need a f/u of Cole and Sasha!!!…They were definitely the spicy couple for me and I want to see how their relationship unfolds!!!…
Layne was an outspoken woman. I sm glad she was found out about ex before it was too late. She went home, builded a company, and found the love of her life. It was cute how Ledger and Layne met. I love how Ledger was able to find beauty in Layne no matter how she looked. It was beautiful when he protected her. Mel pen game continue to grow and explore new things and areas and bring to light new diseases, genes, and how people are often affected by it. I would recommend the book
So first, I need to find a Memoree Layne when I get this funding to open my bookstore! I really loved this story. It shined a light on loving unapologetically. Mel Dau and Ledger and Memoree Layne gave me hope just when I’m ready to give up ever finding my person. This is one of those books that I will read and recommend to anybody in my path. I just want a man to Love Me in the Light!
This was a quick, enjoyable read. Fun and fine characters. Loved Memoree Layne's confidence, resilience, and humor. Her condition added to her value, and it was shown. Her clapbacks, priceless. Ledger, her man, knew what he wanted and had no problem stating his intentions and acting on them. He was the perfect match. Read it.
Thank you again for such transparency of real life. How ironic to write about Albinism and the FMC being a certified light designer. I’m looking forward to the besties’ love story! Please give us that! Mel always writes the best love stories and flashback to the early characters.
This is a beautiful love story between Memoree and Ledger. They meet when her sister recommends her to update the lighting in Ledger’s business. Their attraction is immediate and Ledger goes hard in his pursuit of Memoree. He openly showed her that he knew her worth and he respected her. Great book.
I loved everything about this book I especially like how highlight people of color the challenges they face and showing that they can be successful without sports i do wish you'd offer character visuals the female character in this book sounded beautiful I wish I could've saw a picture of her.
As always author Mel Dau has done it yet again. This read was magnificent. The characters blended very well and the storyline was strong and educational. Albinism is something that’s not talked about much but as we all know exists. And this author brings it in “the light “. Keep writing and I’ll definitely keep reading!!!
Mem was DEFINITELY onnat 😛😛😛😛 So who else clutched the pearls at that birthday dinner!? Classy ladies. Classy. Lil Sis ain’t no joke either! Okay back to the MCs 🥰🥰🥰 All for clear communication ✅ All for the announcement ✅✅ And the conversation with Dad ✅ And Ms Skylar was too cute ☺️ Y’all know I love Mel Dau MMCs real bad 😍
Ledger was that man! His masculinity could be felt across the room. However, Mem’s light shone brightly that softened Ledger’s just enough to catch and keep his attention.
Loved this story but also learned a couple of things about lighting. Got me looking at things differently around me.
Oh my goodness, Memoree knew her worth and didn't shrink around no one. She was confident and beautiful inside and out. It was that confidence that won Ledger over. He knew that she would be his from the first meeting. I loved this book!!
Mel Dau, I love, love, love your pen. Thank you for always touching on topics that are not talked about in a positive light or a light that needs to be explored. I love Mem's confidence. She held a power she was able to live in her space. She deserved to get all the love 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
This was a quick sweet read very little drama both Ledger and Memoree knew what they wanted in a relationship and it was no breaks forward ahead with them now I really hope Sasha and Cole get a book cause I feel like she the problem but he patiently waiting
This book was good. Memoree Layne mouth was slicker than a snicker. She stood on business and never let anyone steal her shine or reduce her confidence.
This was a refreshing quick read. I needed this to get me back into the groove of reading. I love when two goal driven ppl get together it’s black excellence at its best.
