Flood

Rate this book
Three former college roommates, now in their early 40s, follow their lyrical idol, Grant Doyle, to a three-day music festival in a South Carolina coastal town. In a sea of thousands of strangers, they let the performances transport them back to their youth, before they were parents and professionals. But the magic can't last, and you certainly can't predict the weather. When Hurricane Hermine changes course and strikes farther north, no one at the music festival is safe. The women are separated, tested and trapped in the FLOOD.

FLOOD is a literary fiction novel that marries the music of DAISY JONES & THE SIX with the bonds of THE FIVE-STAR WEEKEND and the nail-biting action of TILT.

This novel offers notes of relatable female friendship, the sore spots of middle age, a love story, a grief journey and plenty of page-turning suspense. It's written in one-hour segments, like a multi-day music festival lineup, so readers will devour FLOOD right through the prologue.

A Gripping Story of Friendship, Nostalgia, and Survival, Flood sounds like a wonderfully engaging read, bringing together the beauty of old friendships, the excitement of live music, and the unpredictability of life. I love the idea of three former college roommates reconnecting years later, only to find themselves caught in circumstances far beyond what they expected. The combination of nostalgia, personal struggles, and the looming threat of a hurricane creates an intriguing story with plenty of emotional depth and suspense.

What particularly stands out is the focus on female friendship and how unexpected challenges can test even the strongest bonds. The music festival setting also adds a refreshing touch, while the hurricane promises an intense and unpredictable turn of events. I especially appreciate the unique storytelling structure, which makes the book sound like one that is difficult to put down.
A compelling premise with friendship, emotion, and suspense at its heart.
