Aaron Lucas and Libby Phelps grew up together in the same small town. Apart from a love for Jesus, though, they had nothing in common and barely knew one another. Aaron’s life was easy and happy, and Libby’s was difficult and full of turmoil. When the time came for them to move on and move away, Aaron left with great enthusiasm for the future while Libby chose a very different path. When Aaron comes back home, they meet again. As Libby learns to trust him and hope for something more than what she’s always known, Aaron’s called to greater faith himself, discovering that Christ alone can heal the hurts of the past and give them a future.

A sweet story with a strong Christian message. The writing style wasn’t really for me- first person narratives almost always feel like they’re telling not showing, but the character development still shone through. I liked that no character was perfect and that God can redeem anyone and any situation and use it for His glory.
The h’s story was realistic and heartbreaking. It was easy to root for her and feel the love she had for Max. I appreciated how the MCs took their time to get to know one another, instead of being driven by physical desire. The only complaint I have about the characters is that the H was too good to be true. I adored his character, but he was almost like a dream. I know that he does exist since there are examples of godly young men (and women) in our society today, but they are so seldom featured by our media. It is encouraging to think that they’re out there.
Success! Aaron and Libby were so sweet my teeth kind ached. I mean that in the most positive way. Max was great and so spot on (four year olds are a hot mess). Eli, Isaac, Craig and the rest of the Lucas gang all made appearances much to my delight. I can't wait to read Isaac's book.
Now this...this was a true romance, unlike the previous book "Perfectly Pretend". I loved this story of Libby and Aaron! He fell in love with her in Kindergarten. How sweet is that. No conflict, no lack of communication. Awesome job, Jenn!
Libby had a train wreck of a home life growing up, but with God's help she overcame her circumstances and made a life for herself, plus raised her nephew.
Little Max was a sweetheart! However, at four years old, I don't think he would have had the vocabulary he had in this book. But regardless, he was a cutie pie. I loved the relationship he and Aaron had. So sweet!
Aaron was a wonderful, Godly man who took care of Libby and became a dad to Max. Even teaching Max "The Man Code". LOL
My only complaint is the abrupt ending. That and the speedy resolve of the problem with Riley. And once again, no wedding, sadly.
I have come to expect that a Jenn Faulk book will make me laugh, cry, and leave me uplifted and edified. Haven't been disappointed in one yet. The only trouble is that once I've started a book, I have a hard time putting it down. Today was too hot to do anything but sit under the fan and read :-)
This story tells us about well laid plans not always going as planned. It is also about people who miss a connection due to life changes and reconnecting years later. I love the characters and so very glad I read this story.
What a great family, I am really enjoying reading about all of them. I loved how Aaron stepped up no matter that Libby had a son. He found that she was as caring a person as she always was in high school. Aaron, Libby and Max were perfect together.
Really enjoyed this sweet little romance. The little boy Max is just plain adorable. Love it that they connected in kindergarten and then later in life.
Probably one of my favorites in the series. A wonderful love story about purity and courage and overcoming odds sprinkled with a bit of intrigue. A quick and very good read.
Jenn Faulk has done it again! Every time I read one of her books, my heart stops as I'm swept away into the story as if I'm the main character. I laugh, I smile, and I even get choked up on stifling a sob as I find myself going through the plot. I love every book Jenn Faulk writes ans this one is just as awesome! Well done, author. Well done.
Wow! I'm swooning over the hero, Aaron in this sweet romance. He was so precious. The heroine, Libby was an amazingly strong young lady who took on so much responsibility at such a young age. The couple was so adorable. I loved this book. I highly recommend it.
