Saving Grace is a sweet romance with a bit of a thriller thrown in. The heroine, Grace, is a rich girl whose grandparent-approved boyfriend, Zach, turns out to be a dangerous creep. Grace literally runs away from him, taking refuge on a Hawaiian beach unfrequented by tourists. Burke, a handsome ex-Marine whose gruff exterior hides protective instincts and old heartache, offers her shelter. What I love about this story is that they fall in love so naturally, the sensual attraction between them builds quickly but gradually, and the relationship feels real. They’re respectful, honest, and supportive of each other. Saving Grace is an emotionally healthy romance. All the intrigue and danger come from outside Burke’s beach cabin hideaway, and as the threat grows, so does the promise of family reconciliations and lasting romance – if Zach doesn’t get to Grace first! This novel kept my interest right to the finish. There were only a few details toward the end that didn’t feel authentic, but that didn’t seriously impact my enjoyment. I’m really looking forward to reading other books by Kimberly McKay.
Her grandmother controls Grace, a member of a notable family. Boyfriend Zach abuses Grace, leaving her running from him.
Burke, also suffering from betrayal, chooses solitary, until Grace shows up on his beach. I enjoyed the characters and cheered them on. I read Coming Home first, and it felt like the two stories collided. Totally great.
The writing style of Kimberly is fresh and clean. Switching character’s point of view made the story read at a fast pace. I loved it.
Constant tension. If something wasn’t happening, it was leading to an event. I couldn’t put the book down.
Having been dominated by her grandmother, mistreated by former steady, Zach, Grace’s earlier life summons a hazardous route for her and Burke. Nathan Burkette, a former military man only wanted a peaceful, private existence, but that clearly wasn’t in the cards for him. When he came across Grace at the beach, he had meant to turn a blind eye on her, but destiny had other plans for them. The story flows well and held my interest throughout. There was continuous intrigue, passion and exciting events between the well thought out, up to date characters. ‘Saving Grace’ is a wonderful tale of the human condition, including family challenges, self-development and perseverance to obtain fulfillment in one’s life.
I absolutely love this series!! Although this one had a lot of repeat scenes from book three, I understand in order to tell Grace's story some scenes from Anne's story were to be over-lapped or retold in Grace's point of view. This series is now on my list of favorites!! Kimberly McKay is an amazing story teller and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of her books!!!!
"Kimberly McKay has truly come into her own as an author with Saving Grace. This book holds just the right balance of suspense and romance, along with a bit of humor and a sprinkling of Kim's unshakable faith in God. The characters are a beautiful blend of human frailty and strength, and I love the way the story emphasizes that no matter who we are, no matter our position or circumstances in this world, the one thing we all want in this life is stability and love."
This book is the sister story of Coming Home. There will be a few chapters that overlap, therefore you'll re-read a few scenes but it will be told from Grace's perspective in this book. Just wanted to give you a heads up!
Thank you in advance for all your support and love for these characters ... Kimberly
