"YOU'RE JOEL'S FATHER."

For Sam Winton, Haley Glen's revelation was a sword through the heart. Sure, he and the pudgy bundle shared the same ebony hair, the same blue eyes, but Sam knew better than this mistress of deception that his bloodlines would course through no woman's baby….

Haley had infiltrated Sam's exclusive residence to make The Beast pay for rejecting her pregnant sister. She'd expected to meet a man of ice, but unexpectedly discovered a man of passion…and honor. Was it possible her sister had been mistaken, that Sam's denials were truth? Or had she not only fallen for the enemy, but for his lies…?

3 Stars ~ Haley becomes mother to her infant nephew when her sister Ellen dies, and she vows to make the father accept that Joel is his.  Sam had denied paternity of Ellen's baby and cruelly cut her from his life. Furious for the pain Sam had caused her sister and wanting to secure a future for her nephew, Haley sets out to met him.  She hides her identity and takes a job as a house-sitter cum organizer while Sam is on a book tour.  He's a famous children's writer, and Ellen had been his illustrator.  But the tour is cancelled at the last minute, and Haley finds herself with a roommate, a very sexy roommate who is determined to get close to her.  Sam constantly puzzled by Haley's often open dislike for him, and yet, the spark of attraction is not one sided.  Haley soon realizes Sam's not quite the Beast that Ellen had painted him, and wonders if she can trust him.

Of course, things get exciting when Sam realizes that Haley lied to him about her identity and presents Joel as his son.  When he provides the test results to prove it's impossible that Joel can be his son, Haley is sent for a loop and questions the test.

This is a sweet romance with two very likeable characters.  I loved the relationship building between baby Joel and Sam, who obviously wants deeply to be a father. Overall this was a pleasant quick read.
