While sketching the Temple of Dendur, graduate student Carter Denwright meets—and is seduced by—a powerful vampire by the name of Alder. Though they were once kept secret from the human world, now everyone knows of their existence. Blinded by mistaken feelings for Alder, Carter allows himself to be drawn into his life. Too late, he realizes two things: one, Alder is vicious and cruel, and two, Carter’s true love is Alder’s brother, Freyr.
The attraction between Carter and Freyr is strong, but they must fight this feeling or face the wrath of Alder. Despite their best efforts, Alder discovers the truth, and punishes Carter, hiding him from Freyr in a cruel game of cat and mouse.
Freyr is not as strong as his brother, but he vows that he will find Carter again and will stop at nothing to get him back. Carter, caught in Alder’s cruel grip, commits an act of desperation that will change all their lives forever. The question is: can Freyr find Carter, and is the bond between him and Carter enough to break Alder’s hold and spoil his plans to ruin them both?
Remember Him was an absolute joy to read. This story revolves around two vamps, Carter and Freyr, and how their hard earned relationship came to be and what ensues when Alder, Freyr's evil and more powerful brother, threatens to destroy it. But as their saga unfolds, there are three other stories taking place at the same time. Sam & Stefan, Lowner & Quincy, Greta & Kirner all make up the Amsel clan in some capacity. This book flashes back hundreds of years, where each of them have their own story, to present day where they live, love, fight and loyally support each other. Kazy's attention to detail, whether it be the German language, historical pieces of art, folklore or architecture, let the pages of this book vividly come alive. All of her characters are so impishly playful, sexy as all and most of all, hysterically funny. I didn't want this book to come to an end. I'm hoping that there will be other "episodes" featuring each of the other couples as well as getting to see how Carter and Freyr are getting on. Incredibly talented author, Kazy Reed really brought her A game with this adventurous and enchanting novel. I highly recommend this book!! Nice job Kazy!
I really liked this story. Full of mystical Vampires, history and lore, combined with present day, it flowed well and the pace was good. Carter and Freyr are mates, but Carter meets hid older brother Alder first and is taken prisoner. They must believe in their mating in order to fight Alder and thwart his plans.
Filled with some angst, humor and some gore, I loved watching Carter come into his ability to over power Alder. His feelings for Freyr always in the front of his mind as he adjusts to being blood bonded to both Freyr and Alder. I am looking forward to seeing where the series goes, and I can't wait for the next book.
Graduate student Carter Denwright meets and is seduced by Alder, a very powerful vampire. Carter believes he is the love of his life and realizes too late the Alder is cruel and uncaring. His brother, Freyr, turns out to be Carter’s true love. The attraction between Carter and Freyr is very strong but they must keep it hidden. When Alder discovers their attraction, he hides Carter and Freyr has no choice to search for him. To escape Alder, Carter takes desperate measures and everything changes.
Alder was an incredibly cruel, vicious vampire. Freyr was not perfect but could be reasoned with. Freyr and Carter did bond but Alder is not done with Carter. No one escapes him and he goes to great lengths to ensure just that.
There is a lot of violence in Remember Him. So, if that is problem for you do not pick this one up. There is also a great deal of love and romance. Carter and Freyr have to work hard to be together so they can explore their incredible chemistry. Kazy Reed threw in more than a few surprises to keep us turning the pages to see what twist would happen next. If you enjoy vampire romance, MM romance, and some twists and turns in your paranormal stories then Remember Him is perfect for you!
The blurb of this book is rather misleading. Oh, the first paragraph is correct, in that Carter and Alder meet and go at it in a museum (security cameras, anyone?), and when he meets Freyr, there is an insta-attraction. However, the entire second paragraph’s description is about fighting their feelings, except that it’s a bit blurb before suddenly it’s months later and they’re doing the insta ‘I love-you-let’s-have-sex-right-now’ and gotten caught at it. There’s no hiding when the other vampire knows what you both did.
From there, it heads downhill, and in a hurry. I’m not sure why this author wants to have everyone suddenly declaring their love for one another once Freyr gets his mate home, but it turned into a regular coming out party (Greta excepted - sort of).
The premise of this had tons of potential, but it simply did not manifest. I didn’t feel chemistry between the main characters despite the sheer gratuitous amount of intimate encounters. The pacing was so choppy I felt like I had whiplash. I had to keep stopping to refer back and find out how long it had been since the last time warp, so I never connected with anyone, really, except Greta, whom I adored, or with any scene. Carter’s remarkable abilities were remarkable, but they came across as almost an afterthought. In the end, I’m rating this at 2.5 stars, rounding down because I cannot in good conscience rate it up.
Trigger warning: there is repeat sexual and physical abuse in this book.
This Vampire book had it all. For a new author Kazy Reed has written a book that has a bit of everything. Moments of humour, sadness, violence and plenty of hot loving from some very hot Vamps. Well done Kazy, I look forward to your next entertaining read about the Amstel Clan.
