It's no secret that I am a glutton for some old-fashioned Harlequin punishment.
Arranged/forced marriage?
Greek/Italian Billionaire?
Secret Love Child?
Which is it?
I don't give a flying fuck.
Whatever it is, sign me the hell up.
I want it.
Now this one?
Was ok.
Why just ok?
Because I like my Harlequin males to be total alpha assholes who want to caveman carry their woman wherever they want her to go.

In this one though, my H was a little too...REASONABLE.
Yup, you read that right.
He was a little too calm, a little too cool, a little too collected.
Some of those family peeps of his were doing and saying some bull-fucking-shit to his woman, and when I wanted him to be:

The Marriage He Must Keep by Dani Collins, is the 1st book in her The Wrong Heirs Duet. The storyline is rather a unique one. Two babies who are swapped at birth – by mistake or planned? Thankfully both mothers know which baby belongs to whom!!!
Octavia nearly dies giving birth and even worse, discovers that her baby son had been deviously swapped with another baby born at the same time, by a very wicked family member of Alessandro.
I loved Octavia.
She was an endearing and very likeable character. Her growth and confidence from the shy and innocent person she had been to becoming a strong, take not sh….t from anyone….Alessandro and his family included.
Poor Alessandro!!! Yes, he’s sexy, rich…gorgeous…..he’s Italian…you know what I mean!
But is he a sucker for punishment!! He takes his responsibilities seriously when it comes to family….but when someone he trusted betrays him, almost having him lose Octavia and his son……….! I did find the reasons he gave Octavia for sending her away a bit OTT!!!! But never mind……….he did have to work hard at getting her back…yes, a lot of groveling from him!!!
This is a story filled with family secrets, betrayals, lies….but also with emotions and love….. with the sweetest ending!!!! Octavia, Alessandro & the cute baby Lorenzo!!
Yes, Sorcha and baby Enrique’s story is nicely set up for the next book!!! Can’t wait!

This was so good. It's an arranged marriage story that begins one year after said marriage with the heroine giving birth alone and then having the trauma of her baby being mixed up with the heroine's from The Consequence He Must Claim.
When the hero arrives he finds that not only has his cousin betrayed him (by mixing up the babies), but his marriage is in danger.
And that's the rest of the story, really - the hero fights to save his marriage and secure his son's inheritance from some pretty awful relatives. At first the heroine resists his efforts since she is really angry about her exile to London with the horrible cousin. The hero grovels and gives her time to realistically come to forgive him. (Kudos to the author for letting her anger play out.) Then she and the hero team up against his odious cousins and uncle and its is lovely.
I'm not doing this justice. So I'll just list what I liked.
The hero is such a good guy and I loved his thoughts of the heroine - he is crazy about her and doesn't know it.
The heroine is bewildered by this arranged marriage and how she let herself get exiled to London and vows to do better. She learns to stand up for herself, but doesn't undergo a character transplant. She never hardens her heart - she just opens her eyes. I liked her a lot.
The heroine's friendship with the heroine from The Consequences He Must Claim.
The evil cousin was brought to justice! Finally!
4.5 stars - maybe even 5 on a re-read.

3.5-star **SPOILERS**
Re-read the 1st 50% 3x since I kept getting distracted. And I wanted to recapture the feels. Too bad the pacing & drama waned by about 70%
The GOOD:
Good emo depth & emo involvement. Lots of non-verbal understanding/communication between H&h. Dual 3rd-person POVs so we know their thoughts. Loved that they started frankly about their marriage and why they agreed to their arranged marriage 1 year ago in the 1st place. Their Big Misunderstandings came from their lack of discussing these matters from the get-go. They (especially h) just let their marriage falter without telling each other what they truly thought or wanted. So, she was very susceptible to 4 months of H's conniving cousin's lies re: H cheating on her & H only wanting her to bear his son, when she was 5 months pregnant until she went into labor since H left her in London during those 4 months while he was back in Italy.
Good char dev with 23yo quiet & docile wife h transforming into a more open/frank/& assertive woman who told H she wasn't fine with their marriage state. It shocked arrogant 30yo Italian businessman H from his complacency about her & their marriage. It's what transformed him into a more considerate and involved husband, who realized he really didn't know his own wife and genuinely wanted to. Her threats to leave H also shook out his hidden longings & feelings for h. Loved that H took a firm stand for h & their son against his own family, who he'd been championing & supporting since he was a kid. Loved that he finally put h 1st and showed her & others how much she mattered to him as a partner & wife.
MEH or the BAD:
Aside from their mutual sexual attraction, I didn't care for their meh feelings for each other for 1 year (until she gave birth to their son). Both didn't seem to have a strong love for the other, except for loyalty because they were married. Even H's grandfather noticed that h didn't love him yet and this was after they came back from London with their newborn son. H also went weeks/months without not seeing or missing his increasingly-pregnant wife h in London because he was too busy with work. The strong emotional parts in their interactions happened after h had their baby. It's a slow-burn romance emotionally because sex was not their problem. Before she had their baby, they didn't really delve into how they truly felt for the other. They also didn't know each other much and only shared/asked about their upbringing and past after the baby. The 1st 70% was dramatic and had some angsty moments. But pacing & excitement waned a bit after when H&h agreed to work things out but both kinda slow at admitting their love for each other.
Sexual History:
22yo virgin h had kissed other men but nothing more. She had a brief stint of rebellion while in boarding school with parties & sneaking out but it completely stopped after she was drugged during a party but a school staff's appearance blocked any further danger. And h had to get her stomach pumped at the hospital and that was the end of her teen rebellion. She went back to being an obedient daughter to her demanding but neglectful wealthy Italian parents. She was supposed to be in an arranged marriage to H's sneaky cousin as arranged by her father & H's cousin. But H asked for her hand the night she met both of them. H had “light-hearted” relationships with others but he didn't want any serious commitments since he didn't like being out of control. He liked that h was fine with an arranged marriage to a stranger and she wanted to have children more than a career. Getting her to marry him instead of his cousin also took care of his cousin's potential financial threat to H's inheritance of their vast family business.

I did a reread of this last evening and I did like it better than the first time around but not by much.
So what was different this time around?? It appeared the hero wasn't quite as slimy-awful on reread and the heroine had more of a spine where before I saw her as a weak doormat.
The story was extremely slow-moving, like snail's-pace slow which was very frustrating to me and I almost did not finish several times.
I won't be reading it again and if you're not fond of slow then I would recommend you skip it.

Second read and it's like a veil was torn from my eyes because this was hella problematic. When you know more you do better and my increased knowledge of psychological and mental abuse put this story in a new unfavourable light.
The hero was a selfish pos who neglected his wife in addition to his family verbally abusing her. I have never wanted a Harlequin couple to divorce as much as I did Sandro and Octavia.
Rating lowered from 4 to 2 stars.

Well done MOC that turns into love.
The hero is a shut down idiot, and the heroine develops a spine of steel and decides not to put up with a loveless marriage any more. Plus, she provides a nice verbal smackdown to her horrible, overbearing father. Something you don't see too often as usually the heroines endure stoically.
Plot:
A true MOC that everyone knows going into it. The H falls for the h on the honeymoon although it takes him FOREVER to figure it out. When we first meet the h, she is understandably peeved with the H given that once she became pregnant he stops having sex with her which is pretty much all they had going then shuffles her off to London with his skeevy cuz.
To muddy the waters further, her newborn is switched with another baby, and the H thinks she's lost her marbles. Luckily, the other mother knows she has has the wrong baby as well. Surprisingly, this kind cosmic knowledge is relatively believable. I do think most mothers KNOW their babies. Hope so at least. Turns out the evil baby switcher was evil cousin Primo who was sent to watch out after her. During their sojourn in London he mentally and emotionally tortures her with little jabs like your husband is having an affair. Cuz ups the ante when he almost lets her and the baby die before she calls for an ambulance.
Sadly, the H lets the law go after him rather than personally giving him the personal smackdown he deserves.
Side note:
Have you noticed that Harley-land H's do not get into too many mano a mano scuffles? Interesting. Too many ass-hats can verbally diminish their women, but not throwdown with other XY's. Discuss. Maybe these guys aren't so alpha after all.
Anyhoo, the h has to endure the H's nasty family that shows more sympathy for the baby switcher because he is blood than for her. Throw in an horrible father and a doormat mother and this h has her hands full.
She develops a spine and demands better treatment from everybody.

This story had a fair amount of angsty goodness to it. A little more angst in the first half than the second half, but the family hate and drama towards Octavia picked up where the angst dropped a bit. I enjoyed all the feels of this story.

I just adored it!
I'll try not to recount the book (maybe just the first couple of chapters) but write how I felt about it.
It starts with the drama at maximum when Octavia is in labor that bastard Primo doesn't even call an ambulance even knowing Octavia's mother had several miscarriages. I was so mad and worried for the baby (I knew they just couldn't kill Octavia [and because I didn't read the back cover to know there was going to be a baby swapping]). I'll let you read for yourself the rest of Primo's crimes (which are a lot) and hope you hate him with the passion Sandro couldn't show.
Then comes the baby swapping. I cried like a baby (pun intended) reading Octavia's impotence knowing she had a baby that wasn't hers in her arms and her baby was within reach but she couldn't hold, soothe and feed him. And then Sandro wasn't helping much. Thank God for mothers's maternal instincts or I believe Octavia would have killed Sandro if it meant she could recover her baby.
I loved Octavia and her evolvement through the story. She started as a weak and quiet (but very perceptive) person, but once she became a mother she grew a backbone that kept strengthening as she was facing all her demons. I also liked that Octavia didn't fall in love that easy, it took her time to really trust Sandro. I've read dozens of books where the Hero does half of the romantic gestures Sandro did and the heroine falls hard and fast for him.
Some may a have a problem with Sandro not being alpha-asshole passionate, well I can understand it because he was just realizing the mistakes he made and was in fixing-my-mess mode, but in the flashbacks you can see figments of his cold-blooded behavior. Every chapter there was an opportunity for him to explode, I was reading and thinking to myself "He's gonna lose it now" and he simply never did . He was passionate, he felt deeply but because of his guilt he kept a tight lash on his passions so I ended up letting him be.
I loved that they actually went out and spent quality time as a couple. That's something frequently omitted in romance novels.
Oh and those love scenes were actually about love, I was melting while reading them.
And that sweet epilogue was such a nice treat.
Definitely my favorite by Dani Collins.

wow! heroine was cold, unfeeling and a shrew! she even rejected her own baby boy and was ready to abandon him so as to hurt her husband. I couldn't respect her after that.

Nice but will not end up being rememberable.
I like that both mcs are Italian as the MOC thing seems more probable.
The H is the usual over-busy and emotionally unavailable CEO who runs/heads not only the family business but also the dysfunctional family. The heiress wife is just another suitable acquisition who fits into the plans.

This is the first book in this series about two babies that were switched at birth,but luckily the swap was immediately noticed by both mothers and crisis averted.I read the second story first and in no way was I lost.
Well,this was an emotional,and angst read that hit the spot.I could not even imagine that you just had a traumatic birth process ,anxious to see and hold your newborn and when he is placed in your arm,you feel no maternal urge or longing,but the sound of another newborn close by triggers your maternal longing and love.
I enjoyed this romance that started as a moc for this couple.As always,communication plays a huge role that leads to this couple's estrangement and eventual reconciliation. Loved the epilogue.

EDIT: 5/2021 Reread before I read book 2 The Consequence He Must Claim Still love this one!
This had just the perfect amount of angst. The first part of the book finds Octavia giving birth to her son in London while her husband works in Italy. There is betrayal, misunderstanding, anger, and some of that angst I mentioned.
I liked Octavia. She started out her marriage of convenience a bit shy and didn't really communicate her thoughts and feelings. She comes from a messed up home and was an inexperienced virgin to her older and confident husband.
Sandro realizes what a mistake he's made by leaving his new wife alone for so long. His cousin has been interfering and a wedge has been driven in his marriage. And it's all his fault. Seriously, it really is all his fault. But once he realizes this, he stops at nothing to win his wife back.
This had lots of Hqn tropes that were awesome. We have our clueless hero who abandons his wife, barely visiting or even talking to her, but he still manages to wonder, "Why is she pulling away from me? We aren't as close as we were on our honeymoon?"
After a weak start, Octavia decides that she won't be a passive observer in her life. She's going to be strong and go after what she wants. "She'd giving him her virginity, not her spine, she reminded herself." Go Octavia! She was not a doormat and I loved her for it.
The story does lose some momentum in the middle (and the angst mostly disappears) but I loved the fact that Sandro couldn't just toss her on the bed and solve all their problems with sex. This had just the perfect amount of angst. The first part of the book finds Octavia giving birth to her son in London while her husband works in Italy. There is betrayal, misunderstanding, anger, and some of that angst I mentioned.
I liked Octavia. She started out her marriage of convenience a bit shy and didn't really communicate her thoughts and feelings. She comes from a messed up home and was an inexperienced virgin to her older and confident husband.
Sandro realizes what a mistake he's made by leaving his new wife alone for so long. His cousin has been interfering and a wedge has been driven in his marriage. And it's all his fault. Seriously, it really is all his fault. But once he realizes this, he stops at nothing to win his wife back.
This had lots of Hqn tropes that were awesome. We have our clueless hero who abandons his wife, barely visiting or even talking to her, but he still manages to wonder, "Why is she pulling away from me? We aren't as close as we were on our honeymoon?"
After a weak start, Octavia decides that she won't be a passive observer in her life. She's going to be strong and go after what she wants. "She'd giving him her virginity, not her spine, she reminded herself." Go Octavia! She was not a doormat and I loved her for it.
The story does lose some momentum in the middle (and the angst mostly disappears) but I loved the fact that Sandro couldn't just toss her on the bed and solve all their problems with sex. Man, I’m on a roll…another 4 ⭐!! I’m currently stuck in a soapy-smut binge…can’t quit these, and am having pretty good luck. The Marriage He Must Keep is the first in the 2-book Wrong Heirs series which follows Octavia and Sorcha (The Consequence He Must Claim, also a good one) and the aftermath of their babies temporarily being switched in the hospital.
Octavia and Alessandro (Sandro) had a MOC, that soon led to passion, that soon left Octavia preggers. The book opens with Octavia in labor with Sandro’s evil cousin (Primo) taunting her. We learn that she’s been staying in London with the Primo while Sandro stayed in Naples. We know from the blurb that there’s a baby swap situation, but that situation is all taken care of within the first several chapters. The rest is the couple trying to repair their struggling marriage, while dodging Sandro’s nasty family.
I liked both mc’s. Sandro was a smidge beta, but I did appreciate how he stepped up, and turned his back on his family making his marriage a priority. (his Spiderman balcony dismount was a nice touch) I loved how Octavia embraced her inner momma elephant and grew a pair of lady balls.
Bottom Line- Even though the blurb gave a lot away, I was sucked into this straightaway. I found this one entertaining and enjoyed not wanted to smack anyone. 😁

Reread 10/8/2023–I still like this one.
I like this one. Arranged marriage becomes more, a passive heroine becomes so much more after giving birth to their first child... the new mama bear becomes very demanding in regards to their marriage and he’s forced accept his mistakes and keep up.

It was a second chance romance. The baby Swapping Story was good and it almost covers the first half of the book. The next half of the book shows how they were trying to salvage their relationship.
Alessandro's reluctance of showing interest to Octavia killed the hope of a Good Marriage. He was also absent when she was pregnant. Obviously, Octavia forgave him easily. I was hoping for more groveling. I liked the scene between Alessandro and his Baby Boy Lorenzo through.
Overall it was not bad but I expected more from this book cause I liked the plot.
Safety Issue: The Book was Safe. No Cheating and NO OW drama.

The book begins with a heavily pregnant Octavia writhing in labor, and her husband's evil cousin denying her help. She however is able to reach the hospital, and delivers her baby- at the same time her husband Sandro is informed and rushes to her. However, as the baby is bought to her, she realizes it's not hers, and soon a baby swap conspiracy is revealed.
As they are being discharged, Octavia now realizes the reality of her marriage, and wants to leave. However, Sandro cannot let his wife go and fights hard to keep her with him.
Thus begins a story with a reluctant heroine, a desperately trying hero,a cute baby, some past guilt and messed up family,a yearning for love ending in a HEA.
I really LOVED how hard Sandro fought to make the marriage work, not letting Octavia leave him or their marriage. However, the story had the oomph factor missing, otherwise would have been rated higher!
Looking forward to Sorcha and Cesar's book!

Another good, solid read by Dani Collins that I throughly enjoyed. I was looking forward to this book/duet from Collins since I first heard about it almost six months ago. The concept was an interesting one and one I don't believe has been done in Presents before. A baby swap, which just added lots of conflict as well caused the coming together of husband and wife back together again. It made them become closer because of the baby swap. It really where the story began. Obviously.
With the baby swap also came to the forefront the problems in their marriage and soon this became a second chance story for them. And they had a lot of work to do. They had problems. Lots of hurt feelings going on and deseveredly so. Their marriage was a mess. I really loved seeing all the exploration of the emotion going on in the story it was an up and down roller coaster ride that I love experiencing right along with them. It was a great part of their journey and their angst along the way. It was just so good.
The intimate scenes were the highlight of this book not just because of the sexiness or the passionate ride that the reader experiences right along with them. The reason I enjoyed the scenes the most was because they were beautiful and beautifully written. They showed a perfect combination of passion, connection and emotion. It was never just about having an orgasm. It was about giving and receiving pleasure. Alessandro even said that their lovemaking was about solidifying their bond. And it was a beautiful sentiment. The scenes were just so sweet and tender. I could feel their love oozing off the pages. Again beautifully written.
Their love for one another was so obvious throughout the book except to Alessandro and Octavia of coarse. All the intense emotions that surrounded them was palpable and very much felt. It was consuming. It was overpowering. It was a deeply intense love story that I always enjoy reading about. And it was good. Their relationship just grew more and more with every passing page. Their love and connection felt very real and believable. It made it a good love story.
Lately I have been loving stories where the hero and heroine are already married and their marriage is a mess and they need to reunite and come back together again. A second chance love story, which was what this story. There just so much richness and background to the story before it even begins. That's what makes the story interesting to me and just pulling all the layers back until both are bare and vulnerable so they could become closer and get to this place of unconditional love between them. That's what Octavia and Alessandro had to do to get their happily ever after. It was just really beautiful to witness. It made the story strong.
It was a really good story that was really well written. I could go on an on of how much I loved seeing the emotional love story between these two. It was raw. It was character building. It was passionate. There was really good development throughout and showed how much both of them changed to get them to that healthy place they needed for their relationship. I liked that they weren't prefect and both made mistakes along the way but they learned from them along the way. The baby swap was different too so added something unique to the story.
Dani Collins did it again to create another emotional, angst riddled read full of romance and passion. The romance was beautiful and so well written that I couldn't help but be engrossed in the story of Octavia and Alessandro. This book is another example why I enjoy and love Collins's books so much.
I can't wait to read book two in this duet and see how the baby swap effected Sorcha.

Dani Collins is slowly becoming one of my new favorite authors. This is part one of a 2-book series featuring a baby swap, that happens at the beginning of each book and is the only real conflict in both books. I thought this was a good book but couldn't help but think, if the hero was as smart as he supposedly was, why did he leave his evil cousin around his wife? Why did he not warn his wife of his cousin's past? There is NO WAY the cousin would have been around my family. Oh, and the hero's family; his uncle and cousins were horrible! To make excuses for their son/brother switching the babies and questioning paternity!?!? The heroine's parents were no better however, at least her mom saw the light after the heroine gave her some degree of independence. Also, to not visit your pregnant wife!?!? WTF was that all about. The hero played right into his evil cousin's plan.
Like the second book, the main issue is the hero questioning if he can love the heroine and though it's obvious to the reader that he does, of course the hero doesn't realize it until the last few pages of the book. This book had angst throughout it. I'm mentioning this because the second book didn't have any really. This was not an angsty read but it did have more angst than the second book. The first book in Dani Collins brand new duet - The Wrong Heirs- is steamy, intense and passionate. In, The Marriage He Must Keep, we meet Alessandro, Octavia and some other very interesting characters who all add drama and tension between the pages.
Octavia never saw herself marrying the head of the Ferrante clan. In fact it was Sandro’s cousin, Primo who her father had chosen as her groom. But the moment Octavia laid eyes on Alessandro she knew she would never want another man as much as she wants him. When she and Sandro dance for the first time the chemistry sizzles and when he suggest she marry him she says yes. After their marriage, they share passionate nights in each other’s arms and Octavia gets pregnant. But for some reason Octavia and Sandro are exiled from each other. They live miles apart, she in the London mansion and he in Italy. At the mansion also lives Sandro’s mother and Primo, the evil conniving Primo. When Octavia goes into labor, she begs Primo to call an ambulance but Primo stalls because he has his own intentions. But as the pain grips her, Octavia calls the emergency number. She is rushed to the hospital where she gives birth to a son. However, when Octavia goes to the nursery to feed her baby she realizes something…the baby she’s holding isn’t hers. Even as she insists to the nurses the baby isn’t hers they assure her otherwise. From here on, the plot thickens and events, revelations and truths start to spiral out of control. This brings Octavia and Sandro closer. With their newborn son keeping them rooted, the story moves along with a good steady pace. Overall, The Marriage He Must Keep by Dani Collins will hook you from page one. It is intricately woven in such a way that tension, drama and angst rolls off the pages!

It’s about a couple, Alessandro and Octavia, whose relationship is being undermined by the husband’s devious cousin, Primo. Even to the point of trying to switch babies at the hospital to imply infidelity on the wife’s part.
When caught and prosecuted, Primo’s family blames Alessandro and Octavia, and does their best to make Octavia miserable. With their relationship on the rocks and worrying about the safety of her baby, Octavia and Alessandro have to fight to keep the marriage together.
Loved the premise of this story. It was a great concept and the characters were well developed and you either loved them, or hated them! A definite Must Read !

I'd never read a Harlequin Presents before this and I liked this one a heck of a lot. It felt a little longer than a novella, which is nice. I don't think Alessandro grew as a person lol. Like he starts off terrible and the book ends with the very pathetic beginnings of him realizing he's being terrible. But it's a sweeping, romantic journey, so I liked it.

This was my second book by Dani Collins, but I am thinking she is an author I should keep an eye on for my HP needs. Sandro and Octavia have been married for a year or two, but it was an arranged marriage. Of course Octavia had begun to think that maybe she and Sandro might be able to make it the real deal, but when she got pregnant and complications caused Sandro to send her away to London (because... Italy doesn't have hospitals...?) accompanied by his sleezy cousin, she realizes he's only in it for one thing...
(If you're like me, you totally read that in Cookie Monster's voice.)
So the book opens with Octavia in labor and said sleezy cousin Primo meandering aimlessly to the hospital while she realizes something is wrong with the baby. Clearly Primo doesn't give a shit and might actively be trying to kill her and the baby. This realization followed by a baby switch, also orchestrated by Primo, makes Octavia decide it's time to grow herself a freaking spine and stop trying to earn everyone's approval. So when Sandro makes his appearance at the hospital, Octavia is done with his shit. It doesn't take long for Primo's duplicity to come out (I'm not spoiler tagging this because it all comes out in the first few chapters) but by then Octavia's all in the mood for...
Okay, I'm exaggerating -- it's not quite Angela-Bassett-setting-fire-to-a-car great, but she's mentally in that mindset and Sandro knows it.
Unfortunately, Octavia's actions don't quite back up her mental resolve, but I get that. See the thing is, Sandro's really just kind of clueless. He wanted to believe his cousin was good and admits several times over the course of the book that he had blinders on in that respect. Once it becomes clear that Primo is a primo jerkface asshat, Sandro starts to realize how his actions must have looked to Octavia.
We don't get a grovel in this book and that was okay with me because we didn't really need one. I am a lot more forgiving of a dude who is legitimately clueless (as long as there are Reasons) of his actions than a dude who has cruel intentions (crap, now I have Bittersweet Symphony do-do-dooooing through my head). Those are the guys I want to see on their knees groveling. Still, Sandro deserved a hard time and although I would have liked to see Octavia take a harder line with him than she did, it was still mostly satisfying for me.
Just like the second one, I really enjoyed myself with this one. Am I over-the-moon-gaga-Cookie-Monster-with-cookies in love with the books in this series? Nah. But they're good as far as the Harley Presents line goes, and I was entertained and definitely looking forward to checking out more by this author.

I think I expected much more from Dani Collins.
Overall I liked the story, but it was dragged in the beginning and then lapsed into something very prosaic.
Alessandro Ferrante, tasks his cousin Primo with looking after his pregnant wife, Octavia. However, not only is Primo jealous that Alessandro was entrusted with the family business, but Octavia was supposed to marry Primo — not Allesandro.
In this first side of a baby swap story, we take on an arranged marriage!
It starts with some good drama that we have to make head or tail of, to figure out how she ended up in the twisted dilemma she is in.
Octavia was in labour and desperately wanted her husband by her side.
He arrived later, just as she was realizing something is not as it should be with her newborn son ... this wasn't her baby!
Alessandro wasn't sure if she was just overwhelmed or if there is something more wrong with his wife.
Upon her insistence that something was definitely wrong, they investigate and find that their son was indeed swapped ... and by a member of his family - Primo!
When Primo’s jealousy puts both Octavia and her newborn son at risk, she wasn’t sure her relationship with Allesandro was repairable, since he was the one who left her in Primo‘s care to begin with.
Octavia didn't want to forgive Sandro for how she felt she was treated during her pregnancy, but he persuaded her to give him another chance to show her that he cared.
Although well-written and nicely detailed, the novel is unrealistic in that there was no much romance but a lot of drama, Octavia was hostile and unforgiving, and, Allesandro’s behaviour doesn’t quite ring true, given the strength of his character.
I enjoyed the main characters, but felt there were a few too many supporting characters that I didn't hear much from other than a snarky line or two; it was confusing.
There was really nothing to resolve as the couple was already married.

This is a fabulous story the first in a duet by an author who knows how to bring the characters to life and brings out the sensuality that sparks between the hero and heroine Alessandro Ferrante and his wife Octavia theirs was an arranged marriage because there is no way Alessandro wants to be in love and live the way his parents did, and Octavia an only child who always did what made her parents happy they thought they were content until the birth of their baby shows what a strong person Octavia can be and what lengths both will go to, too love.
