Having studied for the DAMA Data Management Professional exam last year, I didn't really learn anything I hadn't already learnt from DAMA-DMBOK: Data Management Body of Knowledge. Essentially this is a synergy of Enterprise Application Architecture circa 2005 with Enterprise Data Management. As evidenced by the frequent mention of XML and absence of JSON, mentions of the Enterprise Service Bus and Service Oriented Architecutres this is quite dated by modern standards.
The text itself is somewhat repetitive with definitions of reference and master data appearing in multiple places even within a single chapter. It is also acronym heavy, mostly of the Three Letter Acronym (TLAs!) variety although an appendix does at least capture most of them. Diagrams are mostly basic pictures that add nothing to the text.
There were some good concepts in this one, but the chapters became fairly repetitive in many places, and the overall ideas didn't advance anything particularly new, with regards to practical application or innovative value.
