The New Parkinson's Disease Treatment Book: Partnering with Your Doctor to Get the Most from Your Medications is an EXCELLENT book with regards to understanding Parkinson's Disease and the many different ways it can affect the body. This is a wonderful resource for people with Parkinson's and caregivers alike. It has become a primary reference book for my family, and I would strongly encourage anyone with a loved one who has Parkinson's Disease to read it.
My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease about four years ago. At first, we followed the conventional route prescription meds, physical therapy, and regular doctor visits. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, his condition gradually got worse. His memory declined, coordination became a challenge, and daily life was growing increasingly difficult for both of us.About a year ago, feeling like we were out of options, we decided to explore a more natural route. That’s when we came across NaturePath Herbal Clinic. To be honest, we didn’t expect much. But we were surprised within just a few months of starting their herbal program, there were noticeable improvements. His alertness sharpened, his mobility improved, and he seemed to have more strength and energy.Today, he’s more active, confident, and independent than he's been in years. It’s been a transformative journey, and I truly believe this natural approach made a real difference for him. If you or someone you care about is dealing with Parkinson’s, I’d definitely suggest taking a look at what NaturePath offers. For me this was definitely a 4 or a 4+ because I learned so much about this ailment I am dealing with in my 90s, and about dopamine and the medication I am on. I now now far more than my doctor! I have recommended this book to him. So many of the things I have been 'complaining' about lately are either due to the Parkinson's progressing, or the medication. Even understanding that makes me feel a little better or at least more on top of things. The doctor from the Mayo Clinic who authored this book writes really clearly and doesn't present himself as the final word on anything. He always says "this is what I have observed" or "this is what I believe". I have passed the book on to my daughter because it also has lots of excellent information for people who are caring for Parkinson's sufferers.
I found this book really useful now that I’m a 53 year old living with PD. Just started medication too so understanding the different options was particularly helpful.
It reads a little like a textbook, but I so prefer that to the myriad books sharing stories about “Hal” and “Joe” and their struggles with balance, etc.
This book was recommended by a neurologist and had a lot of very useful information. I would recommend it to anyone with PD or their caregivers. I did lots of highlighting. I read from beginning to end and found it repetitive, but I understand this is necessary for readers who only look at the chapters they are interested in.
