I was going to let my potty mouth fly for this review, but I thought better of it. There are still some curses in there, but nothing compared to how I felt last night when I finished reading Broken Gates.

I’m at a loss for words on how to describe the love/hate relationship I now have with the author. I was a beta reader for her 1st book, Hidden Gates, and it was AMAZING!! She is such an awesome story teller and her stories suck you right in and leave you begging for me. Of course, this was my reaction when I received the email that Broken Gates was ready for beta….

Yes, attractive. I couldn’t contain myself. But of course, life had other plans and I didn’t get to start it until several days ago. Meanwhile I have Dara’s other stalkers asking me have I read it yet. UGH. I just wanted to go into hibernation and devour this book. Since the author had FINALLY figured out how to use GIF’s, I’m going to go through my reactions during this read and then get to my review.

I am normally not opposed to books ending with a cliffhanger, but that was downright maniacal. I sat there, gaped mouthed, for about 15 minutes while I tried to put my head on straight. I fucking cried. SERIOUSLY! How can you do this to me?! You just ripped my fucking heart out and stomped on it. I can so image D.T. Dyllin doing exactly that, but crushing it with her stiletto heels. I don’t even know if you wear stilettos lol.

I have decided that PJ’s new motto is “Once a dragon hussy, always a dragon hussy.” I stole that from Dara and it seemed very fitting. You are no longer a lip slut…you’ve been upgraded. Or would that be downgraded? I don’t know…take your pick. And seriously, Bryn, WHAT THE FUCK?! You really pissed me off and you’re on the low end of my really shitty totem pole. He really pissed me off so bad that I wish I could choke the life out of him, bring him back to life and choke him again. I’m not your Anam Cara anymore!! Now Khol on the other hand…that dragon is sex on a stick and I’d take a lick any day. Even with the ending being the way it was, Khol stayed true to his self. I’ve made up my mind that Kohl is now my Anam Cara. Who cares what he did in book one? I don’t, do you? And Shona doesn’t count lol.

I don’t think Dara can write a bad novel. I’ve read 3 of hers so far and she has been bumped up to my top 2 favorite authors. I have a huge girl crush on her! I am impatiently waiting for the day she finishes edits on book 3 and it’s read for beta. I will cry tears of joy and drop everything to read it.

*I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review as a beta reader.*

You know that feeling when you read a sequel to a book and you just know how it's going to end? I certainly do and I hate it. This book was the opposite. Everytime I thought I knew how it was going to go, it didn't. This is one of the most unpredictable sequels I have ever read and that is a really good thing because this book was AWESOME!

Usually a sequel starts slow, retelling the events from the previous book and all that, this one didn't. It started off with a bang and the action was there from the first page to the last. The characters grew and developed, the story twists and grows more and more complicated. And it didn't end the way I wanted it too. Not at all. Seriously. Just when I thought it would, D.T. just throws another twist in my face. HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME D.T.? Why do you leave me hanging with that end? You better write that sequel fast or else... (Probably nothing, but just write the damn sequel because I want to know what happens next.)

Since I am a beta reader (yeah, D.T. asked me, cool huh? (Yeah I'm a dork) Again, thank you for asking me D. I really am honored), I will not give away any spoilers because that would just ruin the book for you guys. You'll just have to wait and see why I'm so happy and frustrated at the same time.

This sequel was everything I expected and more. So much more. D., you're a very talented and brilliant writer and I hope you'll never stop writing. That's why this book deserves a spot on my best-books-ever shelf next to the first book in this series.

That's all I have to say for now. Oh and D.T., I didn't see any typos, but I have to admit I wasn't really paying attention to that so I could be wrong. :P The awesomeness (yes that's a word, at least in my dictionary) of this book distracted me from that.

I will post this review on my blog as soon as the cover is ready and revealed (maybe I can do a cover reveal on my blog? *hint hint*).

It really is true that when you read something for the second or third time you pick up on little things that you never noticed before. And in this case it was how much Bryn pissed me off. Ask anyone of the other Dragon Hussies and they will tell you I am Team Bryn. Bryn is/would be my Anam Cara, yeah sure I came to love Khol, but there is that part of me that will always choose Bryn first. Until now. At several points in the book I wanted to slap him upside the face so much so that I actually took delight in the fact that PJ did slap him upside the face. And then I started to feel sorry for my poor baby dragon. Again. I mean it cant be easy being the baby dragon around these other more powerful dragons, ones who have always known what/who they are and have had many years to work with their powers. He has known just a few short months what he is and he's supposed to compete? Yeah it's definitely not easy being the baby of the bunch. And so I softened to him again. At which point I realised I'm just as bad as PJ. I love them both. I truly am a Dragon Hussy. And I'm greedy because unlike PJ I refuse to choose.

Word of warning. This book has an awful ending. I mean soul destroying awful not badly written awful. An ending that has me loving and hating Dyllin in equal measure. An ending that saw me dub Dyllin as an evil genius, a title she has lived up to in other series ;-) . An ending that has had me in tears once again, even though I knew it was coming.

Dear Ms Dyllin;

First may I say thanks for the copy of Broken Gates that you sent to me in lieu of my honest opinion. It's always appreciated when authors give you the opportunity to read a book before anyone else. Thank you!

Second, I say this with nothing but respect for your writing abilities; you, my lady, are an evil, evil sadist! You have absolutely no compassion whatsoever for readers emotions or the fact that some of us have weak constitutions when it comes to powerful cliffhangers that leaves us gasping for air and screaming like wild banshees and nearly tossing our Kindles across the living room. This is now two books in a row where you left us huddled under our covers, rocking back and forth, hoping not to end up on the Farm. You need to write faster so that we can find out what happens next! Obviously, you have plans for PJ and her future so I'll trust you to FIX THIS!

A feel ashamed to say that I most likely won't be able to rate this book any higher than I did even though 3.5 stars is considered pretty dang good in my book. Call me a Rebel if you will. There was just something about this book that just didn't sit right with me. Perhaps it's the fact that I laugh at so called heroines who are supposed to be strong, yet, can't make up their minds between two guys one of who has been on my hate list since Hidden Gates and a certain scene that I can't get out of my head.

The so called heroine who has an internal debate with herself and still she makes silly choices over who she should be with.

"I could remember more than a few times while reading a book or watching a movie, I had laughed and rolled my eyes at the heroine for finding herself in such a situation."

"Was it possible to love more than one person at the same time? I had always thought it just kind of a convenient notion that authors of novels and screen plays used to amp up intrigue in their stories."

Perhaps it's the fact that I still haven't forgiven a certain someone who shall be not named for believing that any action he makes, is considered okay because of who he is. I'm obviously trusting you to fix the situation with Jenna as well. She needs to be around when all is said and done and maybe, just maybe, you can give her a HEA as well?

Broken Gates pushes the envelope in what P.J. is able to deal with, and yes, she deals with a whole boat load of problems and situations and revelations without fully imploding and falling into a hot mess. The action picks up immediately and of course, it ends with the shot heard round the world! It was even nice to get a brief POV from the head hancho Rider in charge.

So, in closing, I need the third book in this series asap! I won't be satisfied until it is in my greedy little hands and I'm sitting back in my recliner anticipating an exciting finale.

Picking up where we left off, there is still more to come! I got to the end of this book and was just...flabbergasted. There are cliffhangers and then there are CLIFFHANGERS. If I hadn't had the third book waiting for me as an ARC for this tour, I think I would've died.

Don't believe me? Read it. Read it without having book 3 next to you or on your e-reader. I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU. I had so many scribbled notes that had many curse words all over the place. I only did one status update because I had to take the time to come to the computer to type it in and it read: please be his. please be his.please be his.please be his.

Normally, the wishywashy crap really pisses me off, but for some reason it didn't bother me at all even as I'm chanting, willing her with my kindle-bruising index finger to go with the one I want her to be with.

And then suddenly the choice is made. Or is it? What? WHAT JUST HAPPENED? D.T. Dyllin are you FAH REAL!? I had just resigned myself to.

What kind of review is this? It's not. It's really not a review. It's my gut as I was reading this. There is sexy time, there is a love triangle, there is fate, there is time, there is world-ending action and threats, and the fate of the whole flipping world rests on a 19 year old girl's shoulders.

Stressed?

Nah. I don't even...I couldn't even see or fathom or think about what MIGHT happen, I was too busy punching my kindle for the next page and in shock at how it ends. Zooming to the next book PRONTO.

Grammar/spelling problems? Who the f*ck knows?! I have other issues I must have answered!

Wow! Is all I can say about the ending of this book. I love when an author can throw a perfect curve ball that puts the book in a whole new ball game and D.T. has done just that right at the end.

Okay, so let me back this train up a bit. In Hidden Gates PJ finds out that not only are aliens inhabiting humans but she's also a freaking dragon shifter. She also finds out that her boyfriend, long time friend and guardian (to her seer abilities) is also half dragon. So now they are mated and one would think living happily ever after but right out the gate there are problems. Apparently, Bryn's not strong enough to help PJ with her fire dragon abilities and is questioning whether being her mate was such a good idea. Meanwhile, the Walkers (aliens) have taken over the planet and PJ and the dragon community are the only ones practically left to send them back to where they came from.

I really enjoyed this story. I couldn't seem to put the book down and would think to myself "just one more chapter", which would turn out to be five chapters. Even though I'm really sad with the way this book ends, I'm looking forward to the next (and last) book in the trilogy.

P.J has finally chosen a mate and things are going as good as they can be and she happily in love. But soon things take a turn for the worst and she finds her self being pushed away by the man she loves, She turns to another for advise and friendship and maybe just a little more. Not only is P.J's love life going down the drain but she also finds out that a secret has been kept not only from her but from everyone and it will change everything...

I fell in love with the first book and I have been dying to get my hands on this one! D.T.Dyllin has nailed this second book, It's Romantic and heartbreaking all at once I went though so many emotions it was unbelievable I was excited one moment and wanting to reach though my Kindle and strangle someone in the next. The big secrete will completely change everything and shock you, I know I about fell off the couch a few times. Broken Gates will defiantly keep you turning the pages till the very end. and I will warn you there is a HUGE cliffhanger and will leave you completely stunned. I can not wait to get my hands on this 3rd book. I'm not going to anymore for fear of giving too much away because there is so much going on in this second book I don't want to give anything away.

If I thought that the first book Hidden Gates was an amazing read well I was in store for more amazingness with this sequel! I don't know how D.T. Dyllin can make her books come alive! I don't know how she makes you feel like you're a part of her story! I also don't know how she takes every character in her story become something you are invested in! Her imagination is magic. I love to settle in for one of her stories because I'm instantly swept away and once I'm finished I get to walk away knowing my time was well spent.
In this sequel she picks up right where we left off and we take a journey to discovering if there is a way to conquer the evil over taking the humans. We are placed right in the middle of visions that will give some sort of answers but will raise many questions for our crew! On top of that be prepared for some twists in there that you won't see coming! A few times I gasped, I held my breath for the news and one time I looked up and around and thought "How do I not have someone to share this with!?" You will love this sequel. Author D.T. Dyllin is magnificent! Thank you for your words! I enjoyed myself immensely!

I bought the sequel to Hidden Gates because I really liked the first book. So I expected a nice paranormal romance. Yet, I was disappointed. What I really got was a bad soap opera about the uninteresting love affairs of an annoying character.

I had the impression that authors that label their books "New Adult" feel the need to include heaps of senseless lust and craving one or more partners in their novels. But without a real plotline that just feels unnecessary and the lust isn't believable anymore. I really do get the benefits of a first-person-perspective but here, it didn't work at all. P.J. as main female character was just too overwhelming. I couldn't come to like any other character because the reader was just absorbed in her life, her problems, her stupidity. There was hardly anything happening in the book. I could summarize the true action in two sentences, but I don't want to spoil anything for you. Everything else could only be seen through her eyes and her point of view is egoistic at best. It's all about her, and throughout the book even other characters start telling her how immature she behaves:

I've let this go on for long enough; it's time for you to grow up. [...] It's time for you to start thinking about something other than Bryn. You're not a child in high school anymore. You're a woman, fully grown.

Yeah, he's damn right. But does she listen to him? No, of course not. Others try, too:

The truth hurts sometimes. Stop with all the teenage angst and drama.

They even comment her slutty behavior:

For all your constant declarations of love for Bryn, you didn't waste any time with Khol or with Jeremy the last time he was by your side.

Well, those could have been my words. Let me tell you something about the first 7% of the book. I don't consider that spoiling because it really is just the beginning, right? So, P.J. and Bryn are attacked, she protects him, gets hurt, falls into a coma, has one weird dream, wakes up and finds out a month has passed... doesn't bother wondering about that or asking what has happened in between because she's caught up in a lover's quarrel. Her boyfriend Bryn leaves her because he was once again not able to protect her properly. What a whining ass! Her heartbreak is supposed to be really dramatic, but it's actually rather boring. How could we care for the characters that deeply after only a few pages into the book? The author lightly proceeds to come up with extreme developments, sort of throws them at the reader, deals with it a few pages and then procures another one. I was constantly thinking "Oh good Lord, I don't care, when will there be some sense and action?". But it kept on reading like a stupid teenager's diaries... an immature teenager who can't decide which man she should lust after.

There is an explanation, supposed to be some sort of revelation at the end of the book, but that couldn't make up to all my frustration anymore, sorry.

I was once in love with the characters when there was still world-building (no development here), interesting characters and their relationships (no real development here either). So, I attributed Broken Gates a few sympathy points. But still, I can't go any farther than 2,5 fairies.

I'd forgotten how hard and intense this book really is. However, I think I'm finally ready to read the final book.

******

If you though that Hidden Gates was really good, well… you need to find new words to describe Broken Gates. The second book of the P.J. Stone Gates Trilogy is by far more exciting, intriguing and heartbreaking. If you suffer from a weak heart this book will be the death of you.

Now P.J., Bryn, Khol and their friends are in a true war against the aliens (Riders), who have made one of their priorities to eliminate P.J. The story begins a while after the ending of book one, which I think is great because we have to discover along with her what happened during that time.

The tension between our heroine and her two pretenders, Bryn and Khol, is intoxicting. The pressure put on her will wear her forces more than once and will threat her sanity. The triangle will intensify and we have to witness love in its purest forms but also we have to see the bad and ugly side of love.
Love is not always funny and the author does an excellent job writing about the despair, sadness, grief and loneliness it can cause.

Fans of the series won’t be disappointed because every character continues being developed; now they all feel more tridimensional. The book has more action and danger with chapters and situations that keep you at the edge of your sit. We finally understand more about the bad guys, their plans and why they are here. The dragon world continues growing and now all the factions are present. And of course we have our doses of sexy scenes, which are AMAZING and with perfect timing.

P.J. will go through some incredible and rough moments in this book. She is finally accepting her dragon side and is becoming the person she wants to be. Stronger, braver, more secure and more confident than before, P.J is ready to accept and take charge of her role in the future of the world.

I have to say that I admire the author for creating a book that breaks with all our preconceptions, this book is totally different to anything else. The secrets and revelations we have to read are out of this world. There were some moments when I had to read more than once just to be secure I was reading right.

The end… OMG!! I thought I was going to die after reading that HUGE cliffhanger. Don’t get me wrong, it’s perfect but it let you speechless and feeling empty. Book three couldn’t come faster enough.

I jumped straight into Broken Gates (book #2), and DAMN!! Seriously! We all know the so called “middle-book” syndrome, right? Well, I can with confidence say; NOT HERE!! Broken Gates are filled with action, self-reflection, broken hearts, adventures, love and friendships. And loads, and loads of surprises!
I pretty much read this book in a single day. Yup. It is THAT good! I’m truly amazed about how well Dyllin puts it all together. There isn’t one single place in the book where I want to cry foul, or put it down. I wanted to throw the book in the end, but that is due to something else ENTIRELY!
P.J and her friends are the last of their kind; Seer, Guardian and Gate Keeper, and they’re the only ones who can save the world from the alien invasion (the Riders). But will it be enough? Will they be able to work together? It doesn’t exactly helps that both P.J and Bryn are half-dragons, that their mating is unstable, Kohl (the Red Dragon Lord) is standing next, just waiting for Bryn to make a serious enough mistake, so he can take over.
MORE secrets are spilled in Broken Gates (just when I thought there were none left), and they left me breathless over and over again. I can’t begin to describe how much I love this book without divulging too much – and you don’t want me to. Trust me. The ending was heartbreaking, and I can’t wait until I can start reading Open Gates, I NEED to know what happens!!
Seriously, if you like fantasy with everything packed into it; love, sorrow, heartbreak, friendship, action, magic, dragons (ALL kinds), aliens, secrets, surprises or just a damn well-written story - BUY THIS SERIES!!!
Now, if you’ll excuse me… I have to finish the other book I’m reading so I can get back to Open Gates!!

The author continues the trilogy with the same style of writing that I loved from the first book but adds in a bit more action, adventure, twists, turns, surprises and one hell of an ending. Book 2 in the P.J. Stone Gates Trilogy was so much more intense and exciting than the first book that it took me like 5 hours to devour it. Again, going with my no spoiler promise from the first book, all I can say is that you, the reader, are in for one wild, passionate ride with this book.

This book really focuses on the emotional growth of the characters and how they develop and mature especially P.J. Since she is the only one experiencing these visions, the whole world rests on her shoulders and she is forced to make decisions based on visions that are pieces of a bigger puzzle. She, along with her small circle of trusted friends, has to figure out the meaning of the visions before it is too late to save the human race from the "aliens".

P.J. is also dealing with her emerging powers and the feelings she has for Bryn and Kohl. That is one serious love triangle going on and the way the author expresses their intertwining feelings is amazing. The tension, passion and love is very palpable and I can only tell you to have the cold water & tissues handy - you will be both dousing the flames and crying your eyes out!

5/5 Stars!!

Teaser Quote - "I love you too," I croaked. He then tilted my head back and claimed my lips with a tenderness that spoke of a forever kind of love...our kind of love...always.

OH MY EVER LIVING @#$%^&^%$#&*^%$#@!~

What in the blazes is going on? Man Broken Gates picks up right where Hidden Gates left off. P.J. is a Seer and has finally worked through some of her issues but new ones have arrived in the form of a war. The Alien Riders are trying to take over the world and P.J. has to try and find a way to stop it. She knows what she has to do but it is hard because she still battling with her heart. She knows she wants to rid the world of these ugly aliens and move on to a better life. Being a seer is not what it is cracked up to be.

P.J. will have to make decisions and choices that will have consequences. I do not want to give away anything in this book especially if you read book one you will appreciate why once you have read this book. P.J. is still trying to work through her seer issues and he r love life issues and school. So many things are riding on this one decision that P.J. can feel it deep within her bones.

Can you imagine being a seer and the one that is going to bring everyone and everything back together? No pressure there hum..... Well P.J. will have to do everything within her powers to save the world and her love ones. Plus one last not D.T. are trying to kill me with that freaking HUGE cliff hanger....... Cruel Cruel Cruel woman you ;)

So now you’ll know who P.J. chose as her mate, but war has found her world. The aliens that slipped through the portal, the Riders, are bent on destroying all of the Seers, Guardians, Gatekeepers, and Speakers, leaving no one to defend the innocents.

This is an excellent continuation into P.J.s story.

More secrets are revealed, some puzzling events are explained, and the love triangle is broken.

P.J. learns some startling things about herself. I don’t know how she kept her head from spinning around with so many revelations.

There were several things that happened that stole my breath. I just couldn’t believe it and kept turning the pages, seeking an explanation.

Broken Gates will tear you down, carry you along, and lift you up as you read it. At times I felt helpless, just like P.J.

The authors writing is compelling. I can’t explain it well, but I couldn’t have stopped reading this if I wanted to. Something kept me glued to this story, reading until the wee hours and finally reaching the end.

What an ending! I just couldn’t believe it!

But the war is not over. It continues into Open Gates. And that’s where I went next.

I received this book for my honest review. My thoughts were not influenced in any way.

I loved this one! It was way better than the first book!
From the beginning we are thrust into action (litterally on the first page!) and it just keeps going.
Twists and turns and very unexpected thing happen. Since the book is not released yet I will try to keep this review a bit shorter just so I don´t spoil anything for you. That would be no fun :)
Instead I am just going to try to explain how much I loved it. I can´t wait for the third book!
Dyllin threw a giant cliffhanger in the end and I soo need to know what happens next!

P.J. is again dealing with seriously hard stuff for a girl her age. Between threats of humanity, a love triangle and heartbreak she is in over her head most of the time. But this is what makes this story so awesome!

This whole triangle between P.J., Bryn and Khol is awesome. Usually I like one of the guys more than the other but Dyllin made it really hard to choose. Especially the Bryn acted like a jerk.
As I said in my review of the first book, Khol is a guy that I love to hate and I really do in this book. There were some aaww moments with him and other moments I just wanted to slap him lol

So If you enjoyed the first book I strongly recommend you to read this one. You will not get dissapointed at all!

First of all I started this book with such excitement because I really loved the first book. I also liked this one and I will definitely continue the series but this time there was few things that disturbed me. First of all way too many turnbacks from the firstbook. It felt like I am reading the first book again and if you think that I read it juat a day ago it bored me to read some scenes again. Things got complicated at one hand and not that complicated at the other hand and it was awesome it was full of suprises. I don't want to give any spoilers so I'm not going to ralk too much about what happened but it can be also read as a stand alone even though I highly recommend you start reading it from the start. And now what really pissed me of is the cliffhanger. I just read all of it with such speed such passion and then it just ended where it shouldn't have. It kinda dissapointed me. I will read the third book when it comes because I am way too curious. But I don't like cut off cliffhangers. If you are going to start reading this book get ready for the cliffhanger so you don't get too dissapointed. Over all I loved thies serie and I will probably read more books from this author.

This is a combined review of the trilogy that I am posting only here on Goodreads.

The author has no doubt built an amazing world of Dragons and I loved the basic concept of the book.

When I had picked up this series, I knew to expect certain sexual content as a part of New Adult genre. But the sexual content of the book overwhelmed me as it was just too much and I feel this should be tagged as erotica. I have no doubt that if the sex scenes and the sex talk were to be removed, this series could automatically be made into one book.

Frankly, I have nothing against such content and once in a while I do read books with explicit content, but when sex overwhelms the plot, I know there is something wrong with the book. The concept of Dragons, Clans, Transformations, Magic and War is interesting in itself and the author has created an enchanting backdrop - but that's all it is - backdrop :(

The story continues with P.J. and Bryn blissfully happy and fully bonded. But the alien riders are still a threat and P.j. has been sent on a solo mission to stop them. She’s gone to Tennessee and enrolled in a high school undercover. Her new school though is infested with riders. She has to figure out why she was sent there and not get discovered. Can she do her part in helping save the world?
This series with a mixture of fantasy elements is still rocking in my opinion. I’m binge reading this entire trilogy in two days. I guess you can say I like it. Nah, I kind of love it! I love P.J. She’s so normal. A teenager struggling with being selfish and being responsible, she’s doing ok. She backslides and second guesses her decisions, but that’s what’s so real. She isn’t perfect and she’s learning every day. I am happily continuing this trilogy. I give Broken Gates 4.5 stars!

After reading book 1 hidden gates I had to get stuck into Broken Gates asap. I fact I managed to read Broken Gates in pretty much 1 sitting and I am now totally hooked!

I really dont know how to put into words how much I enjoyed this book. I am now however stuck now on the emotional cliffhanger waiting for book 3! Which I cannot wait to read and I cannot come soon enough!

Wow, what a shocking cliffhanger!! What??!!! Seriously though, I struggle with short term memory issues yet I instantly remember reading the first book, which is a massive compliment for the author! It was a great written follow up, likeable characters and deep plot lines but not too serious. I really enjoyed it and will be forced to read book 3 very soon!
