Pierce: A Vampire Serial, Season 1 - Episode One

PART ONE

When vampire warning signs flog the city and people mysteriously disappear one by one, Alicia avoids the nightly hours like the black plague. This attractive, African-American lady spends her days waitressing all while struggling to make a living after a devastating breakup. Her city is already a danger zone, and the arrival of a Caucasian, blood-thirsty trio (Dagon, Vince, and Bess) only amplifies the dilemma. Dagon is a romantic treading between the lines of hopeless and hopeful, whereas Vince’s sexual compulsion doesn’t leave him with any room for true love. Bess is clearly attracted to the much-flaunted Dagon, but alas, her interest is unrequited. Could it be that someone else—of non-vampiric origin, has grabbed a tight hold on his non-beating heart? And with all these monstrosities running about, is Alicia truly safe in the comfort of her own home between sunset and sunrise?

* I received a copy of this eBook free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

** This book is for adults only. Due to strong language and sexual scenarios it is not appropriate for anyone under the age of eighteen.

Twenty-four year old Alicia Johnson has left her cheating fiancé and is drowning in debt. She has been reduced to taking the bus as her only means of transportation. She is African American and also drop dead gorgeous, but little good her looks are doing for her at the moment.

It doesn't help her mood when she sees the "Beware of Vampires" sign that are now posted at all bus stops. The signs even included instructions and said to "Contact the CDC for a free vampire survival kit..." What was her world coming to?

Alicia is afraid of vampires and even schedules her waitressing shifts so that she is at home whenever vampires could be awake.

Dagon, Vince and Bess are vampires. They are driving across the country in Dagon's sports car. All three of them are caucasian and Dagon is one good-looking guy.

Alicia's shift was ending when her boss told her that the night shift waitresses had both called in sick and that he needed her to stay and cover for them. After much debate, her employer agrees to pay for her cab ride home so that she would be able to avoid riding the bus at night for fear of running into a vampire.

Next... You'll need to buy this episode of the serial to find out what happens next.

What can I say about this opening episode of Jolie Du Pre's new serial? I LOVED IT!

The length is perfect and can be read in a single sitting. The story moves along at a rapid pace and the character development is superb! I am excited to read Episode Two.

I rate this book as 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
