"In life, the only perception that truly matters, is what we think of our own life. It doesn't matter what someone else thinks of you."
I really really don't want to say a lot of negative things about this book nor of the author, because I think he had a very good intention of helping people get healthy when starting to write the book, but at the end, in my opinion, he came out with a below average execution. But given that this is his first book, as well as he was only looking forward to share his own journey filled with many obstacles, I think it's a solid enough effort, one that might actually get more refined as the author continues his weight loss journey.
I'm not sure if I read something different than the other reviewers, had weird expectations, or what. Based on the title I was sort of expecting to read about the author eating less and moving more. Instead most of the book was a running commentary on the author's school life (including fraternities and gpa), his work life (including all promotions, awards, and back pats) and then lists of what music he exercises to and towards the end a list of the meals he eats. In between these things he mentions how much he weighed at certain points and how much weight he lost at certain points. But the book never really focuses on that aspect and that was really why I picked it up. So I guess the fault lies with me?
Beyond the content, it really did feel like a running commentary. Or like when you are trapped on a plane with a seat mate that wants to tell you their whole life but they realize they only have you trapped for so long so they just start spewing things out, one staccato fact after another. I actually felt sort of anxious as I read the book, possibly because I was forgetting to breath while reading? That was just how it read to me.
I do applaud the author on his efforts to lose weight and stay healthy and hope that he continues to do well.
I applaud the author for his weight loss journey, especially the fact that he admits it is on-going. But the book did not really offer any new advice - at least not for me.
Also, this book gave me the impression that it never crossed an editor's desk. There are quite a few typos and some sentences/phrases that don't make much sense. More importantly, even though the book is supposed to be about weight loss, the focus of it is much more on the author's career.
It was a great read about the struggles of weight loss. Good advice was given throughout the book. I would recommend this book when you are going to start a weight loss program.
Had high hopes but this ended up being a personal diary. I love biographies but this was a self help guide. Besides his playlists and menus there is not much else. Title says move more, eat less but there’s not much moving on the part of the author.
I received this as a complimentary book, which has now been on my shelf for a little while, and I finally decided to pick it up as a quick end of year read. Unfortunately it didn’t yield any new insight or information for me, and sadly, I found many of the other reviewers’ comments to be true.
Not a bad book (especially since it was free on Kobo), but the there are no hints or tips or any information about losing weight, except for the title. So Eat Less and Move Move. There you go.
What struck me when reading this was the author's positive attitude in spite of all the ups and downs in his personal battle against excess weight. He shared his habits that got him into trouble and the habits he learned to bring the scales back down again. I thank the author for sharing his story.
Simple, easy to implement, honest advice! I really liked the detailed menus. If you struggle with where to begin on a weight loss journey, this book is for you!
This is a very personal story of how one man lost weight. It focuses more on the "why" rather than the how. If you need to know you're not alone in this journey, this is a good book to read.
