Blurb:

They say there are two sides to a story. And two sides to every man… Aaron Pike is one of those men.

Aaron is a white nationalist, a Commander in the organization and Nazi who grew up in Frisco City and Gordon, Alabama. He considers himself an activist and purist for the white race in America and offers no pretenses or excuses for his controversial views, affiliations, machinations, and sometimes violent behavior.

Despite the common theory or belief that the majority of white supremacists are void of any aptitude and acumen, Aaron is not only intelligent, but also sometimes charming, witty, and funny. He has the power to disturb and fluster with merely a look. Much to no one’s surprise, including his own, he ends up in the prison system, serving a stint for beating a man nearly to death in what is perceived as a racially driven assault.

While serving his term, the recidivist Aaron believes as he's always done that he will serve his time and be right back out on the front lines of the movement. However, fate ushers him down a different path altogether…

A new prison psychiatrist is assigned to Holman Correctional Facility, and Mr. Pike is forced to delve deep and discuss in detail situations regarding not only his tumultuous past, but his not so clear future. …And the future holds a strong desire to meet a woman he is not only compatible with but one he is determined to make his wife…

Mia Armstrong is an elementary schoolteacher from a conservative, Christian background. She also volunteers at the prison, and is asked to help spread the word about a prison pen pal program. In that process, she runs into Aaron, and before long, the two hit it off. Only there is one problem… Mia Armstrong is African American. The two forge an alliance and that friendship flourishes into pure, unadulterated love.

How will Aaron deal with the truth of his feelings? Can he force himself to hate a woman he adores and loves based on her race alone? Will Mia be able to stay by his side after discovering the darker edge of the man she’s fallen helplessly in love with? Will she be able to offer forgiveness and redemption or will she turn her back on a lost soul who is used to not giving love, or receiving it? Step inside of this explosive novel, ‘The ‘N’ Word’, to find out how this story of unlikely love unfolds.

Hmmm, so this one took me a bit longer to get through than Book 1 did. It was really a 2.5ish book for me until the end which pushed it to 3.5. In this book, we follow Mia and Aaron as they attempt to build a life together. The problem for me was that I didn't buy into them being as in love as the author attempted to portray at the end of Book 1, and this book continued in that vein. In Book 2, we learn that the courtship of Book 1 took place over a 6mth period, but the timeline felt much shorter than that so, even though I liked Mia, I was left with the impression at the end of Book 1 that she was kind of ditzy. That continued here and I spent the first half of Book 2 enduring all the stuff about their relationship, anxiously awaiting the moment the Nationalists retaliated so something exciting would happen.

For me, Mia and Aaron's relationship further suffered because of the way this author writes her sex scenes, 'I love you baby, uhhhhhh'. "Tell me you want me aahhhhh.' "Do you like this, baby? Do you? Yeahhhhhh. Uhhhh." All I could think was noooooo lol. There is absolutely nothing sexy about that. I was caught between cringing and laughing every time. It just gave the book a very cartoonish feel and took away from what was, at times, a brilliant story. Needless to say, I skimmed most of the sex. Aaron also spoke entirely too much throughout ie you healed me; I was waiting for you; "you're the ambassador to my palace and my palace is my heart". No, that last one was not a joke. I love that Aaron expressed himself but it just went on and on, and veered off into the hokey vs anything that felt remotely authentic.

Every word out the hero's mouth does not need to be a page long monologue. This was a constant problem in this book. It repeatedly felt like Aaron's 'voice' was lost, and the author was just using his mouth to give these long speeches, much of which had already been said. I totally skipped his wedding vows. Why are wedding vows 6 pages?? Regular people do not speak like this! The speech pattern was totally off. Every time an author starts a sentence with 'You see,' during dialogue I cringe. Everyday people having a conversation don''t pontificate like they're giving a speech. Even though Aaron was turning over a new leaf, half the stuff he said didn't seem like stuff a man in his position would say, but instead, what the author felt he needed to say to condemn his past actions. I can't really explain it.

The constant transition between third person/first person narration and then a character's 'thoughts' in italics was distracting, and I almost always skimmed the thoughts. Again, it just felt very sophomoric and cartoonish. All these things distracted from what could have been an awesome book. Mia recounting her father's conversation with Aaron, word for word, in Italics, was just weird and another example of something that totally took me out of the story. I've never even seen that before.

Aaron's most interesting interactions continue to take place outside of his relationship with Mia. Heck, even him cursing his ex out was more exciting because you saw him in his element. I do think he and Mia were good together. I LOVE how he loved her, and how she was his rock and emotional support, but their loving moments were almost always ruined because the author goes on way too long over explaining everything in long, preachy prose and dialogue; the scene where they make love under the Confederate flag comes to mind. Sometimes less is more!

So what shines? His friendship with Marcus is beautiful to watch and warmed me to my very core. His conversation with Julian was AMAZING; mental sparring and intellectual conversation always showcase Aaron well. His three-way phone conversation with his siblings made me teary eyed; I loved it. The stuff that went down with Clyde, yeah baby! And the final few chapters were just plain beautiful (I don't want to spoil). So there are great moments in this book. I just had to plod through a bunch of other stuff to get to them. Aaron is actually THE best Nationalist character I've read so far. His intelligence, knowledge of self, alpha personality, dedication to family, and fierce commitment to keeping Mia happy and protected made me weak in the knees. At the same time, he was not afraid to be vulnerable with her, and ultimately I think they were a good match.

Boy oh boy, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the Race to Redemption series.
Mia is her ever loyal self- Loving and supporting her man through all of their strife. Aaron makes a beautiful metamorphosis while staying his authentic self. He's sexy, conservative, truthful, and still DAMN Crazy. His duality of sensuality, intellect, darkness, and charisma keeps Mia and ME, ;-), coming back for seconds, thirds, and fourths. The love scenes had me bubblin' over. His love for Mia was so pure, unconditional, and all consuming. He takes care of his woman. Aaron makes a change for the better, decides to let go of hate. I sure would love to climb the Tall Tower Boulder that is Aaron Pike. MAGNUMs BABY - size XL!!
Thank you again Tiana Laveen for a most beautiful ride! ;-)

Of course I must share my favorite quotes:

“You were created for me…”
“You were born to be my rib and my teacher. What type of good woman could love me? I mean, really love me, Mia?”
Be still my HEART:-) I have just melted into a little pat of butter! ;-)

"Clyde, ...You can never be me, even on my worst day. You aren’t even in the building, let alone on my level."
LMAO

"So, that’s why I say I made that one mistake. I shoulda met you sooner, Mia, so I coulda loved on you longer.”

"This isn’t a mistake; we’re not a mistake,” she whispered"

To sum it all up, this was a fairly decent conclusion to Ms. Laveen's fictional social commmentary on race, racism, the ravages of child abuse, and interracial love.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book, but when the graphic sex and metaphysical/mystical scenes were haphazardly introduced, the author lost me.

In my opinion, she could have produced a better sequel, if she had omitted about 50% of the sex scenes & the deep, deep, deep metaphysical dialogue. Also, if she had an objective group of Beta readers, that would really help to keep her focused.

A Note to Hardcore LaVeen fans:

For those of you who are calling bullsh#t on my subjective musings,..... I know, I know, I was warned from jump street about the explicit sex, and other stuff...

But yet and still, Ms. Laveen did not deliver a 2nd installment that was as captivating as the first...

All-in-all, this miniseries was an intriguing commentary on love, racial hate, and the ties that bind us all together...

Giving this one: 3 solid stars

“I’m black , you’re white , and to that, Aaron, I say so what?” She shrugged. “God made us like this and I’ll be damned if I’m going to question it. I love my skin, my frizzy hair, and my curves. I love my heritage. I’m a black woman with a dash of Creole from my mama’s people who came from Louisiana. We got a little French in us, but baby, we’re black and proud.” A sad smile creased her face. “When it’s time to go home, Heaven and Hell won’t be segregated, Aaron. I hate to break it to ya, but it will be divided totally differently and God ain’t gonna treat us like laundry. He gonna divide us by how we done ourselves and done others!”

Holy hell. I'm awful at reviews but I feel like I have to say something about this book. This book, man....

I loved it. Both of them, actually. These books took an almost impossible situation and made it work. The writing, the characters and their complexities. Ms. Laveen made it amazing, believable, thoughtful and understandable.

Mia was a fierce woman who was relentless in her beliefs and her feelings. And Aaron.. Oh, Aaron..

At first I couldn't see liking this guy, at all. I was put off by his unapologetic behavior and his cockiness but by the end of both books, I adored him and what he became. Aaron's the person who - when you have him on your side - he's WITH you and he's this tornado of emotions. When he hates, he hates but he loves even harder.

Loved getting to know Marcus. Loved his and Aaron's banter and how alike they were; glad he got his happy ending, too

Both of these books were written in such a way where I could see this on the big screen and I hope that one day, I get to. Just so fantastically written and detailed -- I'm still reeling at the beautiful mess that Aaron was and in a way, still is.

I loved this book! Even though this is the second book I didn't feel the need to read the first one to get into this one. This is a story of a white supremacist who somehow lost his way through an unstable childhood, I think the author did a great job of first making me hate him then totally loving him! This guy was so complex in that he was very clever with words to belittle anyone of colour but so simple in love for his daughter and wanting the best for her. I think the way the author delved into his mind and kind of showed us how easy it is to fall into a wrong way of living and believing just because you actually want to belong somewhere. I loved his way to redemption and how he loved his wife who was black, the way he was when it came to protecting her and how proud he was of her was truly swoony. This book is not easy read as it has racist slurs but I felt it had to be there to show how he was to how he became. This couple were great together and I totally believed in their hea.

APB Persecutive Review:

I watched Aaron and Mia fall in love and I wondered how in the heck can they make it work? In word of honor Tiana showed me how and made it believable. The thing about Aaron that is endearing when he loves it's with his whole heart and he is very loyal. Mia is an excellent teacher and she was perfect for Aaron, she taught him how to love her as a person , not a black woman, and love her he did . Man the passion between the two of them was so hot , I was clutching my pearls and I don't wear them. I liked the dynamic between Marcus and Aaron ,I was happy to see their friendship progress the way it did. Aaron and Mia story is a love story , love changes people a lack of love can create a monster , the gift of love can change that. Loved changed Aaron into a man I rooted for , love showed how this story could be real.

Outstanding!

I truly don't know if I can articulate how utterly FABULOUS this book is.....this series!

Aaron is a complex soul and he stole my heart! I live in SC where a white man went into an historical black church in downtown Charleston and murdered nine people during bible study. This person has radical views about race like Aaron and I didn't know how comfortable I would be reading this book. This book and it's subject is RIGHT ON TIME! It should be required reading to show people the true power of love!

Mia said you cannot fight hate with hate....you HAVE TO fight hate with love! These words give me goosebumps!

I loved the connection between Aaron and Mia and Julian and Milan; no one could have "fixed" Aaron's tattoos other than Julian. The connection between Julian and Aaron spoke on so many other levels....it was deep!

Of course you cannot have a Laveen masterpiece without comedic relief; Trudy and Nancy cracked me up!!

100 star read!!!!

A Thrill- BRAB ONLINE BOOK CLUB

Again as I have come to expect, it was another thrilling read. Tiana Laveen has the gift of introducing you to the most evil, sadistic characters and making them seem human.

This is the case with Aaron Pike; a brutal, evil, sadistic character that thrived on violence and his own warped beliefs. Enter Mia Armstrong, his Angel who showed him unconditional love and loved him hard throughout his transformation.

I love the way each character was developed; and as a reader, I felt each tear, laughter and all the craziness that made this such a wonderful story. I love me some Aaron and Mia.

Hands down ONE OF THE BEST BOOK OF 2015!! I loved everything about the book. This story is too good to pass up!! Aaron and Mia had such an undeniable chemistry. And that's one thing that I love. You felt it as you are reading it. You felt the love that Aaron had for Mia whether it was through his words or his action. This books picks up right after Aaron learns the truth about Mia. After learning of the events that took place, Dr Owens came up with a rather unethical solution that change the course of Aaron's beliefs. Aaron was so slick at the mouth, you couldn't help but fall madly in love with the guy. I would love to see this story played out on the big screen.

And having said what I did about the previous book & it's uncanny similarity to 'Inevitable',I cannot fault this book.It shine's in it's own brilliant light.I would love to see it on the big screen someday.

The author dismantles the 'Aryan' monster to the bare human skin he inhabits & reveals a broken soul that thirsts for love and the fact that it is with a black woman makes the book both intelligently flammable & current.

Once again excellent work on the cover. It embodies the character Aaron to perfection.

I’ve said this a few times now but I really do feel like Tiana wrote a 600 page book and then split it down the middle. In The ‘N’ Word, we get to meet Aaron and Mia and follow them on their journey. One that seemed impossible to complete, painful to endure but too damn entertaining to turn away from. Word of Honor is a continuation of that story. A culmination of all their love, pain, confusion and revelation. I said in my last review that I felt like I was reading a book about redemption and self discovery more than a forbidden love story and that holds true for this book. For the most part....In Word of Honor the self discovery and redemption is pretty much hashed out and we got to really enjoy and celebrate the romance between Aaron and Mia.

I think that’s what I loved most about this second book. The beginning of it was tense and scary of course but in this book I was able to breath and just enjoy the love! It’s crazy even writing this out right now...that I thoroughly enjoyed and loved a book about a Nazi and a Black women falling in love but somehow someway, Tiana made it happen. I swear all praises go to her because I really didn’t see myself enjoying this story as much as I did.

Even though this is a redemption story and Aaron definitely redeemed himself and then some. I loved that he didn’t pull a complete 180. He’s still Aaron. He’s still the guy who will protect him and his at any and all costs. He’s not one to be fucked with and you will regret it if you decide to do so anyway. He still has a little bit of darkness in him and he embraces it. He just no longer uses it to spew hate and pain.

While reading the first half of this story, my nerves were shot because there was so much dishonesty and so many secrets. Huge secrets that could be dangerous and life threatening for everyone involved. There was a point when I was reading it, where I had to literally put the book down and just breath because it was getting to be too much and I love that. I love when an author writes a story so well and its able to touch you on a level deeper than just entertainment. When you really care about the characters and whats going on with them. Word of Honor thankfully wasn’t as stressful to read. I got to see Mia and Aaron in a different element with all of their cards on the table and no secrets between them. This book was like the cherry on top of a cake that was hell to bake.

I wish I could read more about this couple just because I’ve grown to love them so much but Tiana successfully and satisfyingly wrapped up their story. I’ll go to bed tonight content and happy for them lol.

Seriously.... Even though I feel like this is a really “out there” read and many people will probably side eye it after just reading the synopsis...Take a leap and try it out because it was so good.

AND NOW LETS GET A HOORAH FOR DIVERSITY BABY!

This book was entirely to wordy, and didn't really add much to the story. Most of this stuff could have been added to the The N Word instead of adding a completely separate book. Instead we got an entirely too wordy psychological profile of all the characters, and tedious introspection; none of which added in any way to the story. The beginning was good, up to the point that Aaron and Mia settled their differences. And the end was decent, if a bit far-fetched, and nicely wrapped up the story. But the middle part was completely unnecessary

Awesome continuance of the first novel. Aaron’s makeover revealed a lot about how truly smart and insightful he was of his surroundings and life despite his harsh childhood up-bringing to embracing a racist movement that he was an active leader in. This was a fantastic read for lovers of interracial romance. I loved that Aaron was a totally loveable sociopathic killer that was able to overcome warped views of the world and embrace love…of a beautiful black woman.

And now I know...

I needed the end of this story like I needed air and Ms Laveen certainly delivers. The torture of her not jumping directly back into prison where Aaron was losing his $hit was proper suspense. But the deviation from the main characters was still on point with the plot and the writing was still her descriptive poetic style. And so the 2nd book in the series was going pretty well for me. I loved seeing Aaron evolve. I loved seeing how they built a new life together and this book certainly delivered that.

The rating dropped from 5 to 3 though because of the dialogue between the main characters. I'm not sure where it started but by the end of the boom it was turning me off... there were just too many long-winded speeches that I just couldn't picture in real life conversations, so it kept pulling me out of the story. Yes couples can have long in depth conversations about their beliefs, about how they feel (the topics were all totally apt) but it was the delivery...

No one sits for that long being talked at unless they're in a lecture. There wasn't even a little "aww baby", "um hmm", "really honey?" to break up the long diatribes. I get that our hero was experiencing epic changes but there needed to be more realistic dialogues, more of an exchange between them like in the Chick-Fila where they went back and forth a bit more, though that nearly ran off into diatribe land too.

All in all a good conclusion that could have been perfection if it had been pulled together a little bit tighter.

Overall the series was good. I liked this book because it got into Aaron and Mia's romance/relationship finally. I was definitely happy to be out of the prison setting and really see them develop and face their obstacles. The reason for the somewhat low rating is for many reasons. First and foremost the MUSIC REFERENCE!!! Jesus! 37 songs were referenced throughout this 500+ page series. Of the 37 I recognized none. It got to the point I felt that every single page had someone listening to music, reacting to music. I would have much rather to focus on other aspects of the book (ie their relationship with their children, coming into parenthood) but no this book focused way too much on music, and literally everyone Aaron coming across needing to let him know how great and one of a kind he is. The constant monologues and character analysis of Aaron was overkill. Why on earth would so many people need to keep giving a run down of the "mastermind".

In all honestly Aaron is a scary guy. I wouldn't want to come across him in real life he is CRAZY. Some of the stuff he did and whatnot is just too much and makes you question the sanity of Mia. All I know is is she will never be able to leave him. That's for sure a 'til death do you part' marriage. It was also unsettling how he acted as if Mia were truly a substitute for 'God'. Aaron just placed way too much in her and she didn't exactly tell him he was wrong.

Overall I am glad I read the books. I thought I would miss the characters but I am very happy to be done with this series. You kind of grow tired of the characters in a way, at least I did.

The N Word was never a book I felt I needed
to read, based on the overview because it didn't fall into any genre that I often read, but a friend of mine read the the series loved it so much she wanted me to read it as well and let her know what I thought about it. I'm a reader. I love to read and what better way to connect with friends, than reading the same books they have and having that connection. Lol I'm such an emotional reader.

Let me tell you I hated The N word. It was harsh and dealt with issues that I couldn't relate to and didn't want to deal with. It took me to a place where I didn't want to go. For that same reason I'd been ignoring the book everytime it appeared on my rec shelves. . It just didn't fit in the genre I love to read. It lacks romance and I'm big on romance in every book I read. It doesn't matter whatever else is going on, there has to be some romance. As much as I hated it there were portions that I liked. Ms Laveen took me to a place that I hated but her writing style had me so on the fence about the book I had to be honest. I couldnt write a review because I didn't know what to say but I gave it 3 stars. I also knew right away that I wanted to read Word of Honor.

This was the chance to see Aaron redeemed himself and accept Mia as his forever. Needless to say I enjoyed it. There were areas that I still couldn't relate to but I think it deserves 4 stars. Thank you Tracey for prodding me to take a chance on this series. I'm glad I did.

I read both the 1st book in the series and this book in a day, and I'm still scratching my head about if I actually liked them. On the one hand, very unique plot and characters. On the other hand, the story was so damn fantastical and unrealistic that I just couldn't thoroughly enjoy it. Also, if the leader of a white supremacist group were to not only "want out," but makes friends with Black people, marries a Black woman and wants to take down his old organization....Um, I'm sure he'd have a permanent bullseye on back. This book really didn't take into account how much danger the romance placed both the main characters in except for 2 incidents. Also, as a Black woman, in the South, I'd really be cautious about falling in love with an ex-con and white supremacist. Mia clearly could not care less and it reeked of desperation. She never questioned her love for Aaron which in this circumstance made no sense. Word of Honor dragged on and on and on because there were way too many long dialogues, monologues, poems, 'teaching moments' and not enough actual action. I gave 3 stars because there were only minor editing mistakes, I applaud the author for taking such a risk and the romance was an interesting read.

Blown Away

This was an amazing series. The author blew me away with her words. The main character you loved and hated him. I loved how that internalized how he felt as well about himself. His character was so complex. He had so many things to overcome and he did.

The author showed that we all struggle with change after all we are all human but if that person tries to change anything can happen. Her description of this character was very well written. She blew me away with her words. The underlying meaning I received from her book was love. Love can change a persons whole world around. Love can help you find yourself. I loved her description of Mia. Most woman can claim to love bad boys but how man can say they changed one for the good of humanity. There love story was one of strength and true love.

Thank you for your beautiful words that were written. I believe a true author speaks to the reader and makes them think about aspects of there life.

Favorite words from the book " That hard rain, after an hard time meant an important change was going to come, that you have been REBORN.

Happy Reading!!!

Another great series

I love happily ever afters and tiana delivered in word of honor. There was so much drama, action, and many thought provoking scenes that made me stop reading to ponder and reflect. I reflected on what's going on between races today, educate of those with learning challenges, understanding the duality of myself I like Aaron am a Gemini so I can confirm this author does her research. Why did I give a 4 vs 5 I am not use to tiana fast forwarding so much toward the end when Aaron and Kia were married we kept advancing two months I like when tiana disregard s page counts and gives of every day and detail. Do I recommend Yes!

The first book was better... I didn't think there was a lot of drama. I also think the fact that he just stopped having the beliefs he carried throughout the first book went away too quickly without any second thought, I think it would have been a better plot (and also much more realistic) if it took him longer to denounce these beliefs. Mia didn't really have to "fix" anything anymore. Also, I think some of the dialogue was unrealistic.

Tiana Laveen is the bomb, this woman writes something that hits so close to the heart, kudos to the author for giving me a story that was everything that, I as a reader who was looking for something unique and found it.

This review is a review for both books (or as I prefer both parts of the same novel) and may contain spoilers/sensitive material, so proceed with caution if you're reading this.

Before talking about Aaron and Mia, I really want to talk about what this (these) book(s) made me think about.

Racism or rather discrimination (and hypocrisy) as I have come to see it, exists everywhere. Or in other words from legit experience as a non-white individual I can say almost every individual from every racial background has racist tendencies and it's not exclusive to only white people.

Taking myself as an example there are some stereotypes (if you can call them that) I many times unconsciously gravitate to. One common theme with me is that I'm reflexively wary of Black females and ironically my very good soul sister is a Black bombshell who's self admittedly not very nice (she is though). Funny how the world works.

You know how they say birds of a feather flock together and we humans display this metaphor. As a student in a classroom if I have to go talk to a stranger, I automatically go look for someone who looks like me assuming similarity may lead to familiarity (hope that makes sense), but as everyone knows that's not always the case.

It does not surprise me anymore how all of my best friends are exact opposites of me, same race different personalities, different race same personalities.

What my different friendships have taught me is that, diversity is beautiful, and that ugliness is not exclusive to only one particular group.

To put it differently, a**holes and b**ch*s exist everywhere in every racial or other defining classes, but a whole group should never be painted by mistakes of one particular individual/s.

Having said all that, even so admittedly being a bit stereotypical at times (it's human nature), being a relatively young adult from a conservative background even I know that there's strength in unity and chaos in division.

So it tremendously boggles my mind that hidden chapters of KKK/Nazi believers/Religious Fanatics/Devil worshipers/whatever in the h*ll with members with their supposed money and big degrees still exist today.

The existence of Nazi in itself is one of my biggest pet peeves, a group of hypocrites who's supposed goal was the highest race (Judaism is not a race) and they took help from the Japanese(!), you'd expect "intelligent" beings to have finally caught up but as they say humans will lead to their own destruction.

I believe segregation of any kind exists for three reasons:-

Ignorance

A resistance to change

Misplaced Anger/Blame (especially in present times)-->Yes blame the minorities for taking away your jobs/welfare money and blame the whites for not having good jobs (Reality? If you're capable and hardworking nothing is stopping you from a decent income)

Review: Part 1- The 'N' Word=FIVE STARS

Aaron Pike the handsome hunk in the cover has a serious case of the misplaced anger/blame wrongfully put on the wrong group(s). It's not right and honestly as a minority I can't claim to understand it either and this is why the author is unbelievable for her persuasion, she makes me dare I say <3 a racist.

I dislike racists and I can honestly say I don't have a thing for bad guys and I find tattoos/piercings at large unattractive and yet Ms. Laveen made me love Aaron Pike.

I fell in love with a guy who in court claimed to be proud of the crime he committed and being regretful for not having finished the job.

But underneath his bullshit, there's a beautiful man, any woman would be glad to have.

He's strong where it matters.

He's protective as hell.

He's romantic (sighs!).

He's writes such beautiful poem that it really melts your heart.

He's well settled financially (and lets not kid ourselves that it doesn't matter).

He's a total badass (for those who dig him).

BUT.....A very big one

It takes a strong woman like Mia to love a man like this because not many good people could do what Mia did if at all, even when Mr. Owens or Julian's theory is right, it's not that easy to forgive a racist criminal.

Yet, Tiana Laveen writes the The 'N' Word so seamlessly, Aaron's psychiatric sessions (so cathartic) tied in and parallel to the pen pal program, it was truly a beautiful step towards a metamorphosis.

And thus I absolutely loved how Ms. Laveen penned Part I that if possible I'd give it a hundred star rating.

In contrast, however...

Part II-Word of Honor

I could only give it three stars.

It felt like Aaron's step to change became a full on personality/habitual transplant by just one chapter, I just could not believe that a man could overcome his shock or anger over the Mia situation and hatred that easily when it had been cultivated for almost two decades.

But more importantly it felt like a chunk of details or a whole part was missing between the two books.

What I expected was struggle, true struggle, confrontations, non-acceptance, and denials but what I got was what felt like insta-happiness that dragged on with minor glitches.

I wanted the star-crossed feeling where it felt like it was truly hopeless for the couple only to be proven wrong.

I wanted Laura's voice, confusion, and anger to have risen out from the new development in her father's life.

I wanted Aaron not to be so quick in accepting Mia.

Not having all of this is truly the author's prerogative, but I feel having a bit of it or even a separate book in between would have made the story as whole a bit more authentic.

Regardless, there were still many things to love about Word of Honor (if not by a sociologist perspective) then definitely by a romantic aspect.

As just a love story WOH is still an absolute hit, who doesn't love reading about a man truly besotted with a woman and would die or in Aaron's case kill before hurting her.

To conclude...

Both the parts together for me was a four star read, because book one made me think about some serious stuff and I ate the damn thing up like a kid in a candy store and book two gave me many warm fuzzies.

This is a bk 2 of 2 and i dont know how to feel about that

I LOVED the story of these 2 books. Ive always enjoyed people learning the errors of their ways.
I do NOT however appreciate the author splitting the story into 2 books. I can understand when 1 book is finished and you make a sequel or followup. But she had to audacity to state that the books were split due to their length?! Ive read several ebooks that were longer, cheaper and just as well written if not more so - and those managed to be released as 1 book. And to top it all off - charging the same high price for BOTH. (3.99 each at the time of posting) If youre splitting it "due to length" and not a money hungry grab, at least make the 1st of the 2 free. Or make it .99 and increase the price on the 2nd. But i think it is outrageous to charge a more than full-price for a book (bk 1 The N Word) that is not complete and that you need to buy the 2nd to finish the story.

For this book itself - I was glad to see some closure and that it still had some story to tell and wasnt just some long-winded epilogue.
Its a HEA in the end but I do appreciate the author not 100% healing Aaron. Even in the end, hes not 180 degrees different. He still likes pain and inflicting it. Hes still fine with using violence get things done, but he (and the author) acknowledge that a lifetime of hate and being one way takes TIME to change so i appreciare that we dont just erase that we was a white Nazi socialist racist who has murdered people.

WTF, though?🤯

I mean this book took me on a rollercoaster, racism triggers me. I cringed everytime I saw the N word. I cringed everytime someone said " there are some good black people too " as if we need to be good black people, and if we aren't then we should be mistreated. I absolutely hated this book, but I sort of loved it as well because of Aaron's character development.

Although I felt like Aaron and Mia relationship was boring AF, their relationship gave the pretense of depth but it was really not that deep. Besides I could never relate to a person who loves a racist, no matter how much growth Aaron had, it still made me sick to my stomach to think of the crimes he committed because of hate. I just could never do it, what if snaps one day and proceeds to act like a Nazi white supremacist socialist again?

But, I like how the author acknowledges how childhood traumas can, and do affect our lives. Take time , and take care of your mental, emotional, and psychological well-being guys💛💛💛🌈

I didn't finish this book, and even the first one. I wouldn't recommend it to people who are triggered by race. Lol I laughed when I heard someone call Africa a "hellhole" since I live on the continent.

Yeah This Good!!

I have been sitting trying to figure out how to say exactly how good this story was. The writer gives us some very heavy topics to think about and to discuss.Throughout this story we are going to get up close.and personal with some very true facts. This was a story of not only finding yourself, righting your wrongs, letting go of your past and letting 💘in and allow it to take over. This was story about a man Aaron who is not only tired but has accepted that their is something wrong. Once our hero owns who and what he is and was ,we get the full circle of the story. The writer not gives you good to chew on but gives you one of the most sexiest love stories. This is not only an excellent storyline but this writing some very well. If you are looking for a grown up story than this two book series is for you. There are of course some very dark moments but you will get to appreciate the light at the end.

A literary 💎⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This could not have been an easy book to write ; and I deeply admire the ✍'s skillful handling of a most difficult subject. If I could give it 10 ⭐s I would !!! Aaron is easily one of the most complex, tortured characters I have ever read about , and his metamorphosis was truly mesmerizing to behold. It was authentic & gut wrenching. There were so many passages where I felt genuine fear for both Aaron& Mia's safety, my heart palpitating so much, I had to take a break & remind myself that this is not real , just a story 😲😄. I also loved that even after Aaron changed , he remained a 💯 alpha beast with the terrifying, lethal skills necessary to care for his family & friends against enemies🤗 Mia is truly Aaron's angel. A precious gift from God, whom he treasured, passionately loved, cared for, & protected by all means
necessary. I cheered & celebrated their hard fought HEA! Happy 🍷 Reading

I absolutely love this

I had so many favorite lines but the one I can remember is "you got this, damn right I do"

This story was what I was looking for and very inspiring to my style of writing. It let me know it's ok to go there.

The first book I can understand may be hard to get through for some but considering the title it was exactly what I expected. These were beautifully written. I love all the characters. I wish I got more of the first time meetings like Mia meeting Markus Trudy meeting Aaron Laura meeting Mia and Amy meeting Mia. On the spicy note I was waiting for that anal he promised 👀

The stories flowed beautifully together. I would pay big money to see this adapted into a show ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS!♥️♥️♥️ I might but copies

I'll read more of your work thank you
