A girl from the wrong side of town. A man with too many secrets. A city on the brink of a revolution.

Part I
Phee has always had her head in the clouds, living her life with one foot in fantasy and the other in reality. Unfortunately, fantasies don't pay the bills. At least her waitressing job beneath the glittering glass towers in the heart of the city gets her out of the dreary fog south of downtown so she can see the sky.

When Bryant Holbrook shows up, it's like he fell right out of one of her daydreams. Gorgeous, playful, and wickedly dominant - Phee can't turn away from the challenge when he asks her on a date.

But there's more than just imaginary dangers surrounding this wealthy and privileged sex god. As the lines start to blur between fantasy and reality, there's no turning back no matter how dangerous her world becomes.

Part II
The world is new, the government is new, her view of the city is new, but Phee is still the same. She was never cut out to be the smiling, quiet girl on the arm of a politician - too wild, too fiery, and too brave for her own good.

Bryant has his own challenges as he fights to better the city while taking his feisty submissive in hand - because she seems completely unable to hold her tongue no matter what punishments await her.

When Phee defies Bryant's wishes their story comes to an exciting, rollercoaster conclusion that will keep you turning the pages to see if Phee's rebellious spirit will ruin everything, or if this king and queen of fire can save the day one more time.

When I started this book I wasn't expecting the depth and layers to the characters or the story itself.

Ophelia (Phee) is a girl born on the wrong side of the tracks or a better description would be a girl born under the fog. Less fortunate and forgotten, the citizens of the fog have struggled against the control of the upper-class for as long as Phee can remember. While her mother used to fill her head with fantasy and delusions, Phee grew up wishing for the impossible...a white knight in shining armor who would love and cherish her. But her knight turned out to be a dangerously sinful, powerful man with secrets of his own. No knight at all but a king of fire.

With the city on the brink of a revolution, Phee finds herself thrust into the fray with only her king to save her.

I found myself relating to Phee and her dream for a more fantastical life than the one she'd been dealt. I would highly recommend this book, it has some dark twists and a little bit of kink but I think fans of Jennifer Bene's work will really enjoy it.

I'm kinda sad we don't have more of Phee and Bryant. I really loved this story and omg Phee is just the best ever. At first when I finished the first part I was like "What is this all?!?!?" but then I calmed down when I saw there was a part two and all I gotta say, if you think part one is exciting, just wait until part two!

I love Jennifer Benes' books but, this one was just "ok" for me. Phee really got on my nerves with her mouth and her not fully thought through plans. Bryant put up with a lot with her. Such a patient man.

Phee is the girl from the wrong side of the tracks and Bryant is the rich boy. In this case, the wrong side of the tracks is the slums deep in the fog which covers this world. In the daytime, it recedes somewhat, but at night, the fog is thick and heavy, unless you live uptown.

Phee is a waitress in a restaurant up in the rich side of town. She has no problem taking a long ride up there each day because she loves to see the sun and sky. One day while she's at work, Bryant comes in with a bunch of government types. She accidentally says something to him while they are dining, and he eventually asks her out. Turns out they are a pretty good match. He likes to spank, she likes to be spanked.

Together, they help to change the world, with the crowns of fire that Phee imagines for them.

I love this story. Phee is just joyously who she is, I like that.

This book was a mixture of fantasy and reality, with a different government in place. Phee was raised in a dreamlike fantasy world, a place where she could believe she was a golden warrior princess, until that dream world was stripped from her. Living in an ordinary reality was hard for someone like Phee. I loved her character - whimsical and impulsive, almost to a fault. But meeting Bryant, a sexy, Dominant, alpha male with powerful connections, was a whole new ballgame, and I loved how he rocked her world. It was steamy and suspenseful, with a fantastic new society that kept me enthralled. It's dark, but also refreshing at the same. Well done!

Totally different from any other book I have read by this author, but I loved it just as much as I have loved her other stuff. This is a slightly dystopian story about two people from opposite sides of the tracks. Mixed up with their romance is political intrigue, suspense, and a lot of excitement. Just like all the other books Jennifer Bene writes, it will grab your attention from the beginning and not let go. The characters are wonderful, especially Phee, which helps keep you glued to the pages. It is definitely one I will read again and again.

Now all of us who love Jennifer Bene knows she can pump out the smut !! Am I right ?? But here's something just a little different. It does have a little nastiness, of course, but this is just a tad futuristic and has a little dark slant to it. Not as tangled as some of her other writings but a real good read. I didn't expect Phee to be so strong willed and get into so much trouble. But have to admit she's good at it. Bryant is trying his best to keep Phee in line but needs a little help ( spankie spank) getting her to submit to his dominant personality and what he needs her to do, while both of them are in the spotlight. Enjoy this one while in your pj's drinking spiked hot chocolate ... haha

What a wonderful, sexy, action packed story. I felt like I was reading an adult fairytale. Bryant and Phee along with Easton and Regan all have an HEA.

A lovely book about Phee and Bryant. It takes places place in a world that is pretty similiar to our world technology wise, but devided by fog. What I loved about this story is that is also shows about what happens with Phee and Bryant after the meet and fall in love in part I. And if you have read Jennifer
's books before you know ther are a few very hot scenes.

Another good story from Jennifer Bene, while a shorter story without a lot of background information, the story moves very quickly and has lots of twists and turns, this is a page burner for sure. Part I and II combined make for a pretty well rounded story and is worth the read.

Jennifer has done it again!!! She keeps you on the edge of your seat in her books. This isn't like her normal writings, I have read and absolutely enjoy. Even so, she doesn't let you down in these short stories. Love the battle and strength she shows in her characters. She also shows how a D/s relationship works clearly in this book. If you haven't read any of Jennifer's books, definitely give them a go. They will be worth your time, including this book.

So part one of this book was a bit too fast paced for me, it just seemed rushed. The romance between Phee and Bryant didn't have to really bloom. Thankfully, some blooming happened in part two. The action towards the end of part one and the entirety of part two were great. Although it took some time to truly get into the book, it was a worthwhile read.

I love Jennifer Bene's books and this one was no different. Although it was somewhat different from other books she has written it was still well written.
The story seemed somewhat futuristic but the characters are endearing with sexual tension.

Phee (Ophelia) was born and raised in the Fog which is classified as the wrong side of the tracks.
She's sassy and can't seem to keep her mouth shut to save her life.
Bryant is the pretty rich boy who comes into the cafe where she works one day with his uncle and head of security.
She challenge him to take her on a date.
From there things get interesting and steamy between the two.
Can they survive all that is thrown their way??
Let me just say i Love Eastons character, he's the type of person you hate to love.
