Pan will tell you a tale of how Peter Pan came to be. This magical novella is sure to enchant you. Thompson has created an imaginative faerie tale of the beginning of Peter Pan and what we know as Neverland.

The Plot: Neverland and its pixies are dying. Brave little Tink decides it is time to find someone to come to Neverland who will believe in the magic that keeps them alive. She comes across Peter and promises him he will always be a boy and she will always be by his side. Together they will find more lost boys to journey to Neverland to believe.

This was a cute little novella. It is the beginning of entire series of “Untold Stories of Neverland” including a story about Hook and about a mermaid. I applaud Thompson’s effort for creating these prequels to the classic tale of Peter Pan. This novella was magical and imaginative and I cannot wait to continue the series.

A while back I had an idea for a story I wanted to tell and as this story tossed and turned in my brain I realized it might make a good Peter Pan retelling. But then I remembered I’ve never read Peter Pan, and I’ve only read one story based on it. So I went on a downloading binge, snagging every free fairy tale and Peter Pan related book I could find on Amazon. I promptly forgot about them, and there they sat on my Kindle, until I was motivated to read them by the retelling and backlist challenges I recently signed up for. (Two birds with one stone!)

This particular book, while well written, didn’t really capture my full attention. I actually mostly had my Kindle read it to my 5 year old daughter and me over the course of a few days while we ate lunch. The whole of the book was broken into smaller stories. The first is the tale of how Peter Pan came to meet Tinkerbell and find his way to Neverland. Another is Peter finding the Lost Boys and bringing them to Neverland as well. There’s interesting bits about the fairy’s and why Tink brought Peter. The Nyad’s were interesting as well and I think I’d like to read more about them. As a whole though, I didn’t connect to the characters. I never really cared what happened to them. I’m blaming that on the length of each of these small stories and would assume that the full length novels would have better character development. As of right now I would not pay to read the first full length book, but should it become free I would give it a chance and if I liked it, perhaps go on to purchase the others in the series.

As for my initial quest which led to me downloading this book? I’ve got some fresh inspiration tossing around in my head now, so mission somewhat accomplished.

I just love the untold stories of Neverland. KR Thompson again brings fantasy to life with this short story of how Pan came to be in Neverland.
I love the authors ability to capture a readers attention with vivid details and amazing storyline.

Pan is a guardian and helps new young souls find their place in the ever after.. He wants more, he still wants to be a real boy and with the help of Tink and a little fairy dust he is whisked off to Neverland in the hopes that he might help the Neverlandians continue to exist!

KR Thompson is an amazing author and one of my oneclick addictions!

I won't go into spoilers or details but I would highly recommend reading it.
Can't wait to read more in these Untold Stories of Neverland.

Who didn’t grow up reading about Peter Pan?

I know I did, so I was excited to read Pan. Pan takes us back in time when Peter was a guardian who helped guide children who were no longer with the living, like him, to the other side. He was sad, being a ghost, not being able to touch his family or to talk to them and when a tiny pixie named Tinker, entered his life, things changed drastically, as she took him to a place where he could be just a boy again, Neverland.

This was a very enjoyable story. It brought the child out in me instantly, I found myself giggling and smiling as I read this. I loved it and feel this book is for all ages. It’s a refreshing tale, that brings out the child in you and we all need that sometimes, no matter how old we are.

My rating - 5.0 out of 5.0

Who hasn’t dreamed of being like Peter Pan, of living in Neverland, flying with Tink and feeling the magic of her fairy dust? Do we really know Peter or the story behind how he became a legend in fairytales? K.R. Thompson’s own brand of creative magic brings the tale of Peter and how he got to Neverland to life right before our eyes with Pan and I will never look at Neverland the same, again.

From the sad, loneliness of young Peter’s past to the frightening thought that Neverland is losing its magic, K.R. Thompson holds us in her grasp. When Tink thinks she has found the answer to both Peter’s pain and Neverland’s dilemma their tale begins, but will Peter find he is still lonely? Will he go in search of boys to play with? Does Tink have the answers to both their prayers?

Rich in detail, filled with heart-tugging emotions, K.R. Thompson’s tale is more than just a re-telling of an old story, it is fresh, magical yet feels like the same trip to Neverland from years ago through different eyes. Let your inner child loose and live in the moment in Neverland with Peter and Tink.

I received an ARC edition from K.R. Thompson in exchange for my honest review.

A really enjoyable novella and it's makes me want to read the next book in the series, Hook.

I thought the story was pretty well written, but I would've liked there to be more to it...even though I know it's just the first in a series, there just wasn't enough there to me for a book.

When the story began I liked Peter, but then I had an idea of what he'd be liked based on previous movies I've seen. However, by the end of the book, I wasn't sure whether he's a good guy or a bad guy. I'm hoping when I read more of the books that'll be explained, but I didn't like the way the story just stopped.

Still, for a Kindle freebie, it was worth my time reading it and I'd recommend it to anyone who thinks it sounds interesting or to anyone who enjoys retellings.

Peter is a guardian who misses being a boy. When Tink gives him the opportunity to become a boy again, Peter is excited. Tink takes Peter to Neverland but Peter still isn't happy because he wants other kids to play with. Tink takes him back to our world where she sees the person they're supposed to bring. This man will be the savior of Neverland. Of course Peter doesn't want adults in Neverland and sets off to find some which our known as the lost boys. Will Peter ever be happy? And who is this savior that Tink wants to bring back. Find out in the amazing short story of Pan!

I have always been captivated by the tales of Peter Pan, and after I read HOOK from KR Thompson, I jumped at the chance to read PAN. Let me tell you I was not disappointed. KR Thompson has a unique way to engage the reader and allow the reader to fully escape into her world. Her use of words to describe her characters allows the reader to easily picture all that hey are. KR Thompson is an extremely talented author, one of my all time favourites.
I would easily and highly reccomend this little piece of MAGIC to all readers.
Can't wait for the next installment in this brilliant series. <3

This was so close to receiving five stars from me. The story of Peter Pan is not a new one but this is a new way to tell it. I found myself eager to turn the page and sad when I finished. My only problem was that the story was so short. I'm curious about what turn the second book takes.

Oh my dear God.....!!The summary of this book implies that this is probably an excellent book. Emfasis on the word "probably". Because it is not!!! It is probably though the most boring book of this year. Meaning that it is the most boring book of the year. I was sooo disappointed.

On Goodreads, this book as listed as the second but on Kindle Unlimited, this book is listed as the first in the series and states it as such on the book cover so I went ahead and read it first in the series. This is a nice backstory to Peter Pan and how he came to be, but it is darker than the Disney tale. In this one, Peter has died before the book and somehow become a Guardian (sort of like a child Angel of Death who guides children who have died to the afterlife). But he's unhappy as he wants to be a boy again and see his family.

Tink enters and says if Peter will come with her, then he could be a boy again. She needs him to come to Neverland because the pixies are dying (although she doesn't tell him this). Peter agrees and is granted his wish of being a boy again. Upon noticing that other pixies are still dying, Tink and Peter decide they need more people to come to Neverland and the concept of the Lost Boys is born.

I liked the incorporation of death in this book. The Lost Boys are boys who have already died so it's not like anyone will miss them when they go to Neverland and they won't age because they are dead. The real problem arises when Peter overhears a story about him as a guardian and how he is forgotten. This sets him off and he goes to his childhood home and sees a woman who he believes is his mother (although Tink doesn't believe this is his mother as time as moved much quicker in the human world, it is implied Peter's mom is dead). Peter believes his mother has forgotten him and therefore takes the child who he believes has replaced him, which causes problems because this is the first live boy to come to Neverland.

The novel ends with leading to the next one as we get a glimpse of who Tink wanted to bring to Neverland after her and Peter had gone back to the human world together. It is set up to make the reader believe this is the man who will become Captain Hook and since the second book is titled Hook, this seems like a plausible guess.

This book was short, maybe an hour/hour and a half read total. I'm a sucker for a Peter Pan retelling but I'm not sure yet how I feel about this one. There weren't any grammatical errors and I thought the pacing and flow of the story were great, I'm just not sure how I like the actual yet so it's too early to tell if I'd recommend this one or not.

Pan is the first book in The Untold Stories of Neverland series. It tells the story of how Peter Pan came to Neverland and began his adventures there. This is a somewhat darker version of Peter Pan than the original story it is based on. In this book, Tinker Bell is the driving force behind bringing humans to Neverland.

She is a Tinker Pixie, one of two kinds of Pixies on Neverland. Her people, the other Tinker Pixies are dying out. Without someone to believe in them, they will die. So she is searching for someone to believe in them. When she finds Peter, she is sure she has found the right person.

Peter is a guardian when Tinker Bell comes across him. This means he is dead – a ghost – and has been given the job of finding other dead children and escorting them to the Underworld. But he doesn’t want to be dead. He misses his life and his family and wants to be alive again.

When Tinker Bell convinces him to return to Neverland with her, he becomes real again. At first, he can’t fly, which is a disappointment. But once he discovers the double enchantment of Tinker Bell’s pixie dust and happy thoughts, he finds he can fly again. As they get ready to leave for Neverland, he names her Tink – giving her a name for the first time.

But all is not completely rosy. Despite Peter and Tink having nice adventures, he still sometimes misses his family and his mother and is sad. And Tink’s people are still dying. They decide they need to return to the human world and bring back some others.

A dark streak begins to surface in Peter. At first, when he brings back the spirits of children he calls his ‘lost boys’ things are not so bad except that he pays no attention to the people Tink thinks they should be bringing back. But then he begins to become very bossy with his recruits. Then, after hearing a story back in the human world that he believes is his own, he returns to the house he believes was his, and sees that the people, especially the mother, have no memory of him. Tink believes it is because a much greater time has passed since Peter’s death than he thinks so this cannot possibly be his mother. He is angry and abducts the youngest boy, even though he is not dead.

None of this seems to be helping the Tinker Pixies, and Tink begins to search the human world without Peter looking for the person she believes is needed to save her friends.

This novella is the story of how Peter became Peter Pan. Peter starts out as a nice kid. He's technically dead and he's a guardian - a spirit who helps guide other children who have died to cross over. Tinkerbelle is a pixie or fairy who needs to find a way to stop the other fairies from dying on Neverland. She needs someone who believes in them. Believing Peter is "the one" she invites him to Neverland. He wants to be a boy again and he's tired of being alone, so with her promise to never leave him, he accepts and goes with her. Once he gets to Neverland he becomes a boy again. Soon enough, he tires of being alone and wants more kids, so he goes back to earth and starts bringing other kids spirits to Neverland where they become real boys again - the "lost boys". Over the course of the book, Peter transforms from a sweet but lonely soul to a darker version of himself, eventually kidnapping a living boy out of jealousy and naming himself the Pan.

The Only reason I finished this book is that I have always loved reading Peter Pan. Other than that, there was nothing to attract me to finish this.
It's more likely a prequel of the actual Peter Pan. How he came to Neverland and how a person came in touch with the pirates who will most probably become Captain Hook later.
Could be really interesting, but it wasn't.

Classic retold

This is a short story about how Peter Pan and the Lost Ones came to be. It is a pre-Peter Pan telling.
K.R. Thompson has a great eye of Neverland and tells this story in such a way that everything can be imagined and brought to life in your head. Can't wait to finish out this series.

I nice back story on how Peter became Peter Pan.
Pan was well enough written, I think it started to fall apart a bit towards the end, it just felt that the story line came to a relevant point and just started to rush through something that probably should have been explained more in depth.
