This felt random and all over the place, I didn’t see any ongoing investigation or “ detective” work being done. Random events just happen and many many random people get involved and our protagonists only react.

I was lost between all the names, all the directions the story was moving in and all the people who are not police but are someone’s friend or daughter to neighbor so get to know all the case details over dinner!

Excellent!

John Carson is a terrific writer! I first read the DCI Harry McNeil series and loved it. Just started the DI Frank Miller series and it is equally good. Start at the beginning of each series due to interactions of the central characters. Each mystery is well plotted and developed, read thoroughly as there are many aspects and clues, and the conclusion is awesome!

Having been a little disappointed with first 40% of the Frank Miller #1, it was lovely that this book was back on the form I discovered in the McNeil books

OMG second book was excellent, what's wrong with people who can't follow this series I mean seriously book 1 & 2 have me hooked. A boy missing from 3 years who Miller's wife died trying to pay a ransom for is found and bodies begin to pile up as a mysterious group begins a complex plan to make money. Very well written and kept me reading into the night!

Like a rollercoaster

The story starts off quite slowly with lots of threads. Once it gets going it's a race to the conclusion. The characters care believable and are neither obstructive or too complicit. A good read

Twists and turns galore

There is plenty of overlap from the previous book in this series. With so many characters it is sometimes difficult to keep the story lines straight. Honestly, I am not fond of Kim Smith but her father, Neil, is a hoot.

I really liked this book. The plot was very good and the characters were realistic. I was a bit surprised when the leader of the gang was revealed, so kudos to you Mr. Caron. I’m not easily surprised.

Good read

Solid whodunit. Keeps you intrigued trying to figure out who the "bad guys" are. Would recommend to anyone looking for a clean whodunit.

Circumstances dictated I didn't get a good run at this so the enjoyment was slightly dulled but it was a very good read nonetheless.

A little disjointed w/o scene separators

. Needed separators of blank space or more chapter headings. Didn’t see all the twists coming which is nice for once

Once I let go of a previous cast and learned more backstory, I was all in. Great cast and plot!

Whew! No one is ever who you think they are! Carson follows Crash Point with another story of inter-related characters. A very fine web he has woven. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Confusing

I felt like there was too much going on at once. The storyline got confusing sometimes so it was an effort to keep track.

Great characters, good writing

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, even more than the first in what I hope will become a long-running series. The believable characters were well drawn and kept me reading late into the night. A very twisty plot kept me guessing to the last page.

My rating would have been four stars if not for the high number of typographical errors. I lost count of how many times, "you're" was used instead of "your." Mr. Carson is too good a writer to have these small annoyances diminishing enjoyment of his work. If you can overlook the typos, this is a highly entertaining read, with a marvelous Edinburgh setting.

This is a good book although it seemed too long (hard to tell exactly when you read something on kindle). It is a bit different plot wise and the author keeps the story moving along. Unusually, the author introduces new characters (and there are a lot) through most of the book. This story follows directly from the previous book in the series which I strongly recommend you read first. There are a number of typos.

WOW!

What a great read! A complex, juicy yarn that you can totally get caught up in. If you like police procedurals or British detectives, or just want a good book to read, then download this one immediately. Can't wait for the next one in the series to be released.
