A colorful and inspirational cookbook for easy plant-based and vegan meals without having to own every kitchen appliance or have every exotic ingredient. One caveat is the author lives in South Florida, and here in Central Europe, it can be near impossible to make some of the meals she lists, but the recipes are versatile enough that it still should be on every veggie fan's bookshelf, regardless of if you live in a warm climate or not.

(2.5) I have made many of the recipes in the book so far and find the recipes to overall be on the bland side. Vegan meals can have a lot of taste, not be spicy, and still be healthy; I'm afraid this book is missing those factors.

Looking for a fun alternative cookbook? This is it. I love this cookbook. It is a wonderful pick for the entire family that is filled with vegan and plant based recipes, which is wonderful for our family filled with all kinds of food sensitivities. I love the traditional recipes mixed with a unique flare that represents Andrea and her family. I love the little tips on variations, kids, et cetera along with the little blips about each recipe. I found myself actually wanting to read more about the family as I continued to move through this cookbook. This will definitely be one of our family's favorites for years to come, and I appreciate that these recipes accommodate a child's palette rather than overwhelming their sensitive taste buds. Thanks, Andrea! Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Family friendly veggie/vegan
If you are wishing to make a Vegan diet, family friendly, then this could well be the book for you.

Andrea (Drea) Duclos has written a lifestyle/cookery book which unlike many others is not about a restricted diet, and therefore, far from mealtimes being a joyless experience, hers are about celebrating the variety of foods available, and experimenting with unusual ways to cook them.

Drea’s aim is to find a balance between foods that are ‘good for you’ and those that ‘taste so good’! It is less about denial and more about extending the range of foods and recipes which can be enjoyed. She also acknowledges that there will always be a place for treats, and accepts that at some time her small daughter will be exposed to sugar and other processed foods.

The recipes are innovative and down to earth, without the endless list of ingredients which put me off when I was a vegetarian. At that time you seemed to have to spend so long in the kitchen to produce a tasty meal.

Included are breakfasts (Chocolate butter and Strawberries!!!), sandwiches, things on toast (see the ‘Simply Amazing tomatoes and roasted garlic’ topping!!), pastas, curries, breads and sweet treats and smoothies.

Drea is a blogger and so her writing style is chatty and conversational; she really wants her readers to be enthused by her ideas. She also takes time to explain why she does one thing rather than another and throws in comments on how recipes have evolved.

This is a very accessible book and I would recommend it to anyone who is dipping their toe into the veggie/vegan lifestyle for the first time. This truly is food as a celebration and definitely not a penance. And final, yes, you can have pizza, French fries and ice-cream – just not every day!

I love Drea's recipes because they bring cultural dishes from around the world and make them friendly and approachable. There are so many recipes in this cookbook, it's overwhelming to find a starting point. She offers plenty of from-scratch cooking options (homemade pizza dough and table bread!) but several of her recipes still use processed vegan substitutes (vegan butter, cream cheese, etc). I've always been in awe of how she's helped her daughter's taste buds shape at such a young age, and wish I'd had someone to do that for me! Definitely worth a read if you believe even vegans shouldn't be without comfort food.

This is a vegan-but-vegetarian-friendly cookbook with a focus on family-friendly, easy healthy meals. The recipes are clear and don't involve too many ingredients or steps (I am a lazy, lazy cook, so these are important for me. No Ottelenghi gets cooked in my kitchen) and the food looks very tasty.

I don't often cook for kids myself but I admit I found the meals that were designated as "favorited food of kiddos everywhere" very appealing! Have bookmarked quite a few recipes to try over the next few weeks.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of this book.

I received a copy of this title via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
This is a fantastic vegan cookbook. The recipes are fresh, well written and easy to follow.
One thing I really liked is that the recipes are simple and don't use many ingredients unlike some other 'healthy-eating books' which ask you to buy vanilla powder from the flower of vanilla plant which grows only on volcanoes and blooms once a year....
All in all a great addition to your collection!

This is a lovely vegan cookbook filled with simple and flavorful dishes. It is accompanied by nice photographs and the instructions are well-written and easy to follow. I got some good ideas from this cookbook - like making shepherd's pie using lentils instead of beef. I received this book free to review from Netgalley and I highly recommend it.

For the whole family

Love this cookbook! My only complaint is the use of white sugar and white flour in some of the recipes but that is easily substituted. Easy and delicious recipes!
