“Everyone deserves to find true love. Everyone deserves to love someone the way I loved Austin.”

This was a YA contemporary romance story, which was once again about the love lives of the three main characters Darcy, Sadie and Rosanna.

Darcy was surprised in this book at the arrival of her ex-boyfriend Logan, and they struck up a bit of a new relationship.

“Logan was my heart. Could he be again?”

Sadie was trying to get over Austin after finding out that he was married, only to be thrown another curve-ball, and Rosanna was going on holiday with D.

“We are going to South Beach together. D could not be a sweeter, more generous person.”

The storyline in this followed each of the three girl’s love-lives, and we did seem to get a bit more action in this book than the previous book, and we also got a couple of twists thrown in. I think Rosanna was the one I felt most sorry for though, with the arrival of a girl called Addison and her agenda.

“You destroyed his entire life.”

The ending to this once again felt like the story just stopped, so hopefully the last book in the series will have a more concrete ending.

“Real-life endings suck.”

3.5 stars!

I jointly reviewed this with my co-blogger, Becca!

THE STORY:
Lisa : City Love ended with quite a open-ending feeling. Becca and I were really looking forward to seeing what happened next for this group of girls. Lost in Love picks up exactly where City Love leaves off. And if you've read City Love, then you know it left off with allllll kinds of drama in that Manhattan apartment!! This group of girls experienced love in the city, as they had desired... but that love was filled with more drama than you'd see on the big screen! Relationships aren't easy, especially when you're trying to find yourself in the process. No parents, no rules, and the entire city of New York to spend your summer in = an entertaining beach read win!

Becca : Very well said Lisa! After all of the drama in City Love, I was very eager to pick up Lost in Love and see where the adventures in NYC took these girls next. In case you haven't read City Love yet, I will share that both books are told from the 3 POVs of our 3 main characters Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna. Each is sharing the story of their Summer in the City before their freshman year of college. There are lots of ups and downs, lots of romantic happenings and also a story of finding true friendships :)

summerfriends

THE CHARACTERS:
Becca : Since each girls is telling their own story, we get to know each of them very well. In City Love I saw them each in a certain way Rosanna the pessimistic, worrier, Sadie the happy, optimistic one and Darcy the fun loving free spirit. In Lost in Love, we really see other sides of each girl and I loved that! We see Darcy's vulnerable side, Sadie's darker side and Rosanna's fighting spirit (just a little but it is emerging). I really liked getting to know each girl better and I thought that Susanne Colasanti did an awesome job developing each of them even more. I liked how there was a bit less focus on the guys in their lives in this one (although that is a part of the story too), and more focus on each girl and how they interacted with one another. I have to say that Sadie is my favorite! Rosanna and Darcy have some flaws that had me eye rolling at times, but in truth, their differences is what makes this group of girls and their friendship really work :)

Lisa : I totally agree with Becca. Compared to City Love, this story focused much more on the girls and their growth, rather than simply the romances. I don't know that I could pick a favorite girl... I honestly loved them all!! Even Darcy, which is saying a lot. ;) They all did things that made me want to slap them... but what teenager doesn't?! I'm really pleased with how realistic and relatable this story turned out to be.

TO SUM UP:
Lisa : Any issues I had with City Love seemed to be sucessfully quashed with Lost in Love. City Love left me wanting more... a LOT more, and luckily, Lost in Love gave that to me! I felt we got a much deeper story into these three friends and their lives, and I really appreciated that. This story was quite character-driven, which is always a plus for me. Overall, this was a cute, fun, entertaining read that's perfect for a day at the beach. You'll definitely need to read the first book though, or you'll miss wayyyyyy too much. So grab a copy of City Love, sit back, and soak up those rays while taking in the summer before college with these three strangers-turned-friends!

Becca : My favorite part of this book was the Summer descriptions of NYC. I truly felt as if I was there and experiencing the sounds, the smells and ALL of the sights! I almost wanted to take notes on places to visit next time I go! It was truly magical!

I was quite surprised that this book had a very open ending and that there will be a third (and I believe final) book in the series. I will definitely be picking that one up because I need to see how the story ends for each girl in their relationships and their friendship :)

As Lisa said this was such a great Summer read! So light and breezy and fun! I really recommend it as a perfect beach read! The first one as well if you haven't read that yet!

*Lost in Love is the second book in Colasanti's City Love trilogy which begins with City Love. This review contains major spoilers for the first book.*

Sadie thought Austin was her soulmate and that her summer before college was going to be filled with the epic love she'd always dreamed of. When Sadie finds out that Austin has been lying to her, she isn't sure how to reconcile her dream guy with the flawed one trying so hard to make amends and win her back.

Darcy planned to spend her first summer in New York City exploring and having lots of drama-free boy adventures. Summer Fun Darcy is just getting the hang of things when Darcy's ex shows up in New York to win her back. One grand gesture can say a lot. But can one flight really make up for weeks of heartbreak?

Rosanna never expected to find love when she moved to New York for college--especially not with an amazing guy who is wealthy like D. Now that things are getting serious with D, Rosanna has to decide how much she's willing to reveal about her past before they move forward.

After a month together in the city they all love Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna know they're lucky to have found each other as roommates and friends. They'll need each other more than ever as they try to figure out what comes next in Lost in Love (2016) by Susane Colasanti.

Lost in Love is the second book in Colasanti's City Love trilogy which begins with City Love.

Each girl is at a crossroad in Lost in Love and forced to make some hard decisions about who they want to be (and sometimes who they want to be with) as the series moves forward.

Still reeling from news about Austin's secret marriage, Sadie has to pull herself together after their breakup and her subsequent depression. Sadie is honest with herself and readers about how hard it is to move forward and she is willing to put in the work to get to her next, best self--no easy feat with Austin badgering her for a second chance.

Darcy thought she had put heartbreak behind her but she doesn't quite know what it means when her ex-boyfriend flies all the way to New York to try and win her back. This plot thread takes an interesting turn and adds a bit of mystery to the story as Darcy and readers try to figure out if there are ulterior motives at play.

Rosanna, meanwhile, is trying to reconcile her dwindling funds in New York with the lavish lifestyle her boyfriend has to offer. Still haunted by her past in Chicago, Rosanna is suspicious of anyone offering her genuine friendship (or something more) when she still feels so broken. Most of Rosanna's arc focuses on her struggles with honesty and balancing who she is with who she wants to become in her new home. While the decision again leaves some things uncertain for book three, her final resolution here is empowering.

Colasanti delivers another fast-paced, summery diversion with New York City as a vibrant backdrop in this story that alternates third person point of view between Sadie, Darcy, and Rosanna. With romance, adventure and a lot of self-discovery, Lost in Love is another excellent City Love installment that will leave fans satisfied but eager for the conclusion of this contemporary trilogy.

I loved this book, I loved the characters, the story. I had read CITY LOVE back in 2015 and re-read it before starting LOST IN LOVE and like with most of her books, I fell in love all over again. SUSANE COLASANTI always finds a way to make you imagine as if you are part of story. In this case, I felt I was there along with all of girls, Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna. I have been wondering what happened to all of the since I finished CITY LOVE and now that I have finished LOST IN LOVE I need to see how it all ends. I love all of Susanne’s books I read so far, but City Love has been one of my favorites. Honestly, I don’t want it to come to end because I don’t want to say goodbye to the characters that I adore. Besides it takes place in New York, and I been there few times and I love it, and after reading it, I want to go back and visit it again. SUSANE COLASANTI has the astonishing descriptions of the city, I can see it while I read it. I sense like I learned more about New York after reading the book. I couldn’t get enough of it and I know if it wasn’t for my job, I would read it in one day. I spent nights and my lunch break reading it, and once my break was over I had force myself to put it down.

I could tell that Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna had a special bond, an instant friendship when I read CITY LOVE . What the three of them had, was a true meaning of friendship. LOST IN LOVE There seemed to be more tension between Rosanna and Darcy and understand why, because Darcy is one person that has to worry about money due to fact that her father paying for everything, while Rosanna can barely afford groceries. I also think it was due fact that Rosanna is under a lot of stress, there is only so much that one person can handle. I just hope that it won’t affect their friendship, I hope they can resolve that issue between the two of them. I love all the girls, but Sadie she reminds me a lot of myself in a way. I have always been one of those people who like to make everyone happy, if they have something they want to talk about, I am there to listen and help in any way I can. I love helping others. The warm Fuzy that Sadie did for random people, it had me smiling, I received one of those in past from co-worker and it’s the best feeling in the world. I done few of those myself as well. How can you not love a person like that?

I think that D and Jude were my favorites from guys, though I kind of like Danny too. I kind of like Austin, but he lied to Sadie, he hurt her. I could see that he truly cared about her, I am just not too sure about him yet. I don’t want Sadie to get hurt again. Logan, don’t get me started there, I had a bad feeling about him from moment he showed up in New York, claiming that he made a mistake. Despite my thoughts about him, I did not think that he would go that low as attempt to steal the money from here. I am kind of eager to see what Darcy has in store for him. Even before she found out, I did not get vibe, that connection between her and Logan that she had with Jude, I was hoping that she would end up with him. I am still rooting for two of them, and I am hoping maybe she can win him back in the next book. D, despite how things were bit off between him and Rosanna and him in this book, I could tell how much he loves her, I am glad that she finally let him in, despite how hard it was for her. I can’t even imagine going through what she gone through. In my eyes, she’s strong.

SUSANE COLASANTI is one of my favorite writers, and one of those authors that inspires me, to keep on writing. Every time I read her book, I am inspired to work on a book I am writing which I hope to finish soon. I have never met her, but hope to some day but talked her few times, she is a sweetheart. I am so happy I discovered her books. I wish I could give her books more than five stars, it deserves so much more. I can’t wait to pick up FOREVER IN LOVE which I got from library and see what’s in store for Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna next and how their stories will end.

Another beautifully written novel.

Personal Response:

I really enjoyed the book Lost in Love by Susane Colasanti. There were so many interesting parts especially because the book had three different perspectives in it. The characters have gone through a lot throughout the book

Plot Summary:

Sadie was pretty positive when she met her soulmate after she had the “knowing.” Sadie was crushed after she found out about his major secret. She was left wondering if she could ever trust a boy again. She was so depressed that she sat on the couch for days, even weeks. Her friends got her off the couch and made her go out with them.

Darcy had a lot of fun with boys during the summer. Right before she left for Santa Monica, her boyfriend broke up with her. In New York, she talked to a guy named Jude. As her feelings grew stronger, her ex moved to New York, which left her confused.

Rosanna did not have the best childhood growing up. However while she lived in New York, she met a boy who treated her to finer things. She wanted to tell him so much but that meant telling him the memories she never wanted to tell him and just wanted to forget.

Characterization:

Throughout the book Rosanna grew as a person, became more thoughtful, loved life, and helped others. She realized how wonderful life was and that she could have anything she wanted in the world. Rosanna also made sure everyone felt loved.

Darcy was a super fun and outgoing person. When her ex moved back into town, she was confused and lonely. No matter how bad she felt she always put her friends feelings before hers. She made sure they felt happy and went out with them often.

Settings:

The book took place in New York during modern times, which made it more relatable. With Rosanna, Darcy, and Sadie being really good friends, I think that having their separate problems helped them be closer and more there for each other. The setting was very important because New York City is very big. Not many people knew all three of the girls, so after they had a problem they could go out and have a fresh start without everyone knowing.

Recommendations:
I recommend this book to high schoolers because the language and content is more mature. Girls or boys may relate to the book with the problems the three girls face.

Personal Response:
I really enjoyed reading Lost in Love. My favorite parts about this book were how it was not predictable at all. There were events that happened that really threw me off guard. It was a different type of romance book. I would definitely read this book again, I enjoyed reading it so much. I also like having the different point of views in this book, you would get to see everyone’s opinion and how they see a situation not just one person’s point of view.

Plot Summary:
Lost in Love is the second book in a three book trilogy. This trilogy is based around three girls who did not know each other before they moved in together. They all go to the University of New York together and become really close friends. Sadie one of the main characters had a boyfriend who ended up being married and she broke up with me, but he is trying to get back together with her, but she does not want to since he lied to her. Rosanna who is one of the roommates, her boyfriend is a rich trust fund kid who is going to school to be an investment banker, while Rosanna is the exact opposite of him. She does not feel like she belongs with him and is very self-conscious about being with him. Due to, one of his old girlfriends from high school is trying to take him away from Rosanna, she does not like that he is spending more time with his ex-girlfriend instead of her. Darcy the last roommate, her ex-boyfriend from back home in California flew all the way to New York to win her back. Darcy later finds out that is not the case he is just trying to take her money.

Characterization:
Rosanna at the beginning of the book was very reserved and quiet, she had to change to be able to get somewhere in the tough world of New York City. In the beginning, she would not speak up about situations she did not like or she felt uncomfortable in. In the end, she would speak up and defend herself and stick with her morals and values. She was very quiet and would not talk to strangers for any reason, now she will go to stranger’s house to confront them about a problem she notices in their child.

Recommendation: I would recommend this book to high school girls, who like romance books. This book is all about romance and the drama of boys. Also, I do not think that this book would be a good fit for middle school students. This book has some vulgar language, which is not appropriate for middle school readers. Boys would also not like this book, due to all the romance and drama, which they do not enjoy.

Book title: Lost in Love

Personal Response:
Personally I did not like Lost in Love . It was very boring and not really that realistic. How would three girls of all different social classes and backgrounds end up being best friends? Also, the book was constantly switching perspectives, so if you didn't read the chapter title you wouldn't understand who it was about. I was constantly rereading trying to understand what happened and who it happened to. The book also ends out of the middle of nowhere. Lost in Love was an ok book.

Plot Summary:
Lost in Love switches point of views between three girls. Sadie is a very optimistic girl but let's not trouble get to her. She skips work for 4 days after finding out that her “soap mate” was married and didn't tell her. Sadies roommates, Darcy and Rosanna are going through problems too. Darcy has a boyfriend that she is very happy with, she has a very strong connection with him. Then out of the middle of nowhere her ex-boyfriend, Logan, shows up to try and win her back. Little does she know is that he's only there to try and scam money out of her. Rosanna is dating a rich boy who claims he is actually in love with her. Later on in the book, Donovan's friend from high school shows up. Donovan drops everything for her so Rosanna starts to question their relationship. Rosanna has been through some very tough times in her life and she's not sure if she should open up about them or not. In the end, she might have to because of a very rude girl met. This girl keeps trying to ruin her life and make her look like a fool all just to avenge her uncle. To find out more you'll have to read the second book.

Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to people who like reading series. If you don't read these books in order, they are very hard to understand. Also, the second book ends in the middle of a thought, so you need to read the third book if you want to know how Lost in Love ends.

This is my final line from my review of the first book in this series: "I guess I'll read it with hope that it will get better."
Sadly, it doesn't.
When I got almost to the end of this book, I thought at least two of the characters need some serious therapy. I don't say that lightly. Theses girls seem to have major issues that need to be dealt with.
And they all create their own drama which is something I have developed a real aversion to in books.
And it isn't a complete story, again. I know, I shouldn't have expected anything else, but come on. These series done this way are just too much. WRITE A COMPLETE STORY! Yes, there can be an overall arc and the desire to know more about these characters, but for gosh sakes, write one complete story within the covers of each book.
This is another author who I've read many of her books and mostly enjoyed them. Sadly, that has ended entirely with this series. I don't understand how these things get published this way. Oh, wait, yes, I do. For the money. :-(

I'd probably give this book 3-3.5 stars...it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great...

I feel like this happened with City Love too. It bothers me that I don't feel a total connection with any of these characters. There are portions that I enjoy and that I want more of, but only portions. I feel like the characters, dialogue, and situations are so unrealistic. It just feels really stilted and awkward.

Towards the middle to the end I just kind of wanted to finish it and move forward.

BUT the end was good - and interesting. I feel like the end is definitely where it picks up a bit more, starts to get more interesting (for lack of a better word) and I get into it.

Like I said, there are parts that I like - somewhat, throughout. But overall, it was just kind of eh. Not too relatable. I am interested to read the conclusion, though! Now to look up info about that!

Haven't read the first opus but it was not hard to get into the book or to understand the story.
If it's well written and the three girls very different, I'm sorry to confess it hasn't touched me. I've read their struggles and it's really well told.
It's just that I felt no connexion or emotions pulling me into these heroines.

As the author picture three very lovely women, I hope you will have more chance than me to bond with them as the story is not bad at all.

"People aren't perfect. Neither is love. Soul mates aren't always people you can, or even should, be with."

Can the whole book just be about Rosanna??? She's my favourite out of the three girls and I enjoy her PoV so much more. That being said I still found myself enjoying Sadie & Darcy's chapters. I'm not going to lie, if Darcy doesn't end up with Jude I'll cry. Now Sadie and Austin, I'm not sure I'd forgive him so who knows if she will?? Book three now please!!

I don't know why I read this book after being disappointed in the first one. Lost in Love is worse than City Love. It feels rushed and the writing is sloppy. All three girls feel like stereotyped versions of people. Like Kirkus said, this book is superficial.

Picking up where the first book left off, Darcy, Sadie, and Rosanna are still in the middle of a life changing summer discovering themselves, love, and how to deal with life's challenges. Darcy's ex-boyfriend Logan arrives and she works to figure out where she stands with him. Sadie tries to get over Austin after finding out that he is married, but he keeps turning up in her life and trying to convince her to give him another chance. Meanwhile, Rosanna is going on vacation with D, struggling with finances, and trying to discover why a girl named Addison is trying to do as much damage in her life as possible. Each girl has to balance looking for love and a new adult life in New York.

The lives and various challenges of the girls weave together well, and the reader will root for all of them to succeed even though they are all different and working on discovering how to handle different parts of their lives. The ending of the book again feels very sudden, but the last book of the series will hopefully have more of a conclusion for fans of the series. The differences in what the girls have to handle keep the book interesting, and the characters have a lot of variety. While the book isn't stunning and doesn't have a lot going on in it other than boy drama, it's enjoyable and many readers will likely look forward to the ending of the series to see what happens to Darcy, Rosanna, Sadie, and the guys they interact with.

Susane Colasanti’s, Lost in Love, book two of the City Love trilogy, is an emotional love story of three girls and their lives in New York City together. The book is formatted so that every chapter is a different girl's perspective on what is going on at that moment. Colasanti show the reader how Sadie, Darcy, and Rosanna learn to live with each other and also learn to live with the struggles of love.

I enjoy the plot quite a lot because there is always a new conflict. Since we are following three different girls, you would think that this could get confusing. However, Colasanti makes it easy to keep up with because everything that happens in the story ties in with the overall idea. The author writes the book in a way that a normal teenage/college girl would speak. Yet, she always uses very strong words like “epiphany” and “impulsive”. Words like these make the story more interesting a show how a character thinks. I would recommend this book to teenage girls who enjoy chic-lits but might not love to read. Speaking as someone who does not adore reading, this series is making me appreciate it way more. I would not have someone younger than high school read this because it does contain some inappropriate language and behavior. I would rate this book at five stars. I will definitely be reading it again.

I read the first book in this series a long time ago, so when I started this book it took me a bit to remember what happened in the first book. The characters were compelling, but I had a hard time connecting with them. Sadie, Darcy, and Rosanna’s more annoying qualities took the front seat in this book making it hard for me to understand their point of view. Some of their issues and problems seem trivial in the grand scheme of things. For Sadie, I loved her journey in this story to love herself. Darcy was as badass as always, and I thought her struggle with her feelings was beautifully written. Rosanna’s journey to her new self was raw and emotional. I liked how for Darcy the boy drama took more of a front seat but for Rosanna and Sadie it was less important in this book. In this story, New York City was again it’s own character. The author wrote about this city in such loving detail that I truly felt like I was there walking the streets with the girls. The ending was a bit abrupt leaving me scratching my head as to how that was the end. I’m hoping the third book wraps up all loose end nicely.

Yeah….Book Two was more of the same. I usually have no problem reading outdated books, especially outdated, cheesy YA but gosh these just aren’t hitting for me. This book repeated the most basic explanation of each of these girls’ conflicts over and over and…over. But didn’t give any further info. It was the same weak description we got in Book One. But multiple times now. What was new: we added a run in with a *very* random Snapple Peach Tea racist (and more than anything his drink of choice was criticized?!!?!), a last ten pages out of nowhere suicide attempt by an older brother that suddenly exists (seriously, I read Book One yesterday and idk if there was a brother…), and we now learned that “nasty girl” is actually out to avenge her uncle. She’s stalking, tormenting, and harassing a teenage girl because she “ruined her uncle’s life”. I’m not joking. That’s what we added. Going big. When I say I can’t wait to see what the hell Book Three brings I actually mean it. Hahahah

I always feel like I have to defend myself when I read Susane Colasanti. If I had written this book, I would not be proud of it. The writing isn't smart, the characters are flat, and there's some serious shaming going on. But I continue to read her books because she writes about New York City the way I see New York City--as a magical, vibrant city with infinite possibility. The City Love trilogy is a love letter to New York, and I live for the places she takes her characters. These pages are full of New York gems, from parks and monuments to streets and restaurants. I bookmarked a few places on Yelp while reading. Susane Colasanti feeds my city love. If you love New York City, romance, and the idea that anything is possible, you should give this series a try (but only if you can tolerate a lot of junk/pointlessness).

Susane Colasanti's books are like a good soap opera, juicy, full of twists and full of humorous moments as well. In this installment of the "City Love" series. Sadie's still trying to figure out what to do about her relationship with Austin,as it's very complicated,to say the least. Darcy's trying to hang loose, but she might have a new love interest where she is. Lastly, Rosanna's trying to figure out how to let Donovan in while also working through her childhood trauma, and also trying to adjust to the finer things in life,as she's grown up in the Chicago area struggling to get by. All three ladies have to reevaluate their beliefs about love and life in NYC. Overall,a quick, fun and thought provoking read!

Lost in Love is the 2nd book of the City Love trilogy. This book is quite simple-minded and a typical young adult book. Although it seems like a full on romance book, the focus was more of the three characters who live together and their daily struggles and also the friendship between them. Each character had very different personality and unique love life. I was quite shocked by the ending as all thrre of them ended up single and decided to focus on themselves. I realised there is a 3rd book to this series, hence the abrupt ending. I really do want to know who each of them end up dating and how they develop and improve themselves further.

I did not read the first book, City Love. I think it is not necessary to as I did not feel lost while reading the 2nd book.

Lost in love is a great 2nd book to City Love. It continues the point of views of the characters which is a huge factor to the series. Throughout the book, it kind of leaves you on edge wanting read more and figure out what happens next to each character. I personally love the idea of the characters going through good and bad times throughout a regular relationships, and not sharing false things about being in a relationship or giving the reader high hopes. This book is just as good as the first.

This book is about three girls who share an apartment in Manhattan, Rosanna, Sadie, and Darcy. Rosanna has a boyfriend and Sadie thinks she has found her love and then there is darcy who is all about fun. These girls through out the book struggle with their relationships. Personally I don't like to read romance novels, but i liked this book. This book was good but not the best I have read. I really would recommend this book if you need something to read.

This is the sequel to City Love (which I must admit, I didn't read). However, it's a pretty straighforward romantic novel with three different leads and three different love life issues. Everything is happening over the summer before the girls start college, and so some situations, younger readers won't identify with...but for the most party, it's an interesting and emotional journey for the main characters with a cliffhanger ending for the next book.

It was rlly good! Although it ended with a huge cliff hanger and I HATE LOGAAAANN! And With Sadie she finally starts talking with Austin, Although we have no Idea wether or not she is going to get back with him or not so Now I rllyyyy want to read the next story!! And Then Poor Rosanna... “Nasty Girl” Addison is tortouring her And She does not deserve that.

I appreciated this book because it had a lot more character development. I was annoyed with Sadie and her instalove in Book 1, but appreciated that we got to see more of her and less of 😍😍😍 in this book.

Will read Book 3 simply because this story has become a good summer guilty pleasure read
