Sylvie put Nate in the zone…the friend zone.

A Love For Always is the story of Nate and Sylvie. Nate is ex-CIA and now a security specialist. Sylvie is a chef who specialises in Japanese ramen. They have known each other for nine years. It started off as an intense sexual relationship, but when their busy work lives interrupted, they decided to be friends instead. In the time apart they carried on but Nate knew that Sylvie was the one for him. Unfortunately, the timing was always wrong for him to take ownership. Seriously, that’s how he sees it. Hello…big tough CIA, security specialists can be such possessive Neanderthals. Nate finds out that Sylvie is single again, scrapes off his current legs with a pretty face and forces Sylvie to get with the program and sign up for the Neanderthals Are Us, Buddy Program. In this program she is supposed to go along with whatever Nate says with a smile on her face and love in her eyes…

In reality…

Sylvie realises she has got to get rid of Nate before he sees what a mess she’s made of things. Why on earth she decided to team up with her Dad, a baddie in Japan, is beyond me. Yes, there were circumstances that pushed her to fall into the mess, but her choices ended up putting a lot of people in danger. So when Nate comes crashing back into her life, he knows that Sylvie has a spot of bother and wades in to fix things. This is why she wanted to get rid of Nate. Sylvie didn’t want him to get in trouble for her mess.

Like Sylvie had a choice. Nate is not the sort of man to let danger be around a person he cares for without him at her back. Luckily, Nate has a lot of people he can count on to help with her issues and he doesn’t hesitate to wade in and get things sorted.

I enjoyed this story but did have some frustrations as well. Sylvie acted recklessly thinking she would be invincible. I didn’t like anyone in her family except for her Nana. Her mother and father are selfish people who never put her needs first and this was not dealt with enough by the end for me to forgive them. Nate is a recovering manwhore. At the beginning of the story we see him dealing with a woman who was living with him, but like all the rest, wanted more. Yeah, he gave her his standard talk at the beginning of the relationship about it not being anything more than sex, but they never get it. My question is, why does he live with them? I never got that and it took a while for me to warm up to him and get past his hook up with women who he sleeps with until Sylvie is available attitude. Once they’re together, he turns into a mindless sap who is overcome with feelings. Snap out of it man, you’re supposed to be a tough guy.

Victoria Paige does her research thoroughly. You feel like you’re learning when you read one of her stories. Whether it’s learning about the intricacies of cooking ramen or how the American government deals with baddies. I love reading about the baddies in other countries and what America sees as a real threat or an inconvenience. I know this is a story, but it always feels so real.

I did enjoy A Love For Always. It was a steamy read with a great re-connection between the couple. Yes, I did have some problems with them that did reduce my overall love for them, but it was still a good 4 star read for me. I can’t wait for more from this author.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

DNF.
H loved the h so much that he had 8 girlfriends after her, dated them anywhere from 2-6 months. Most of them were live-in too. In Ch1 we have the break up scene with GF8 who said that H pursued her, asked for exclusivity, showered her with gifts and screwed her senseless and that he is a very generous lover. They live/sleep together on same bed too. That is not just sex thats intimacy.

I get that the h moved on first( you go girl!), but H was the one who wouldn't initially commit what with CIA stuff. What else was she supposed to do?!

Just don't believe in this great love the H supposedly has for h...

I’m trying not to flood my GR feed with likes on reviews of my own book, but I really appreciate readers who have already given Always#3 a try.

Not much post-analysis of this book. Everyone who has read my books from the Guardians to the Always series know that I like to write flawed characters faced with morally ambiguous actions. It makes for interesting character arcs to write —as for reading I don’t know. LoL! I know sometimes I like to read guilty pleasures where I want my Alpha to be the same old, same old ... but the thing with that is... they are forgettable and interchangeable. I’m striving to write the ones that have layers to them. I’m not sure all readers would want that, but as a writer it’s very fulfilling.

About Sylvie’s actions in this book.

Sylvie’s parents.

And dear Nate. I love him. I love writing his character; I love his humor. I had a smile on my face every time I finished a scene between him and Sylvie. That’s my reward. :)

4.25+ RATING- A great addition to the Always series. I've been waiting for Nate's story since the beginning and he didn't disappoint. I love a hero that's committed to the heroine 100% and he was. The writing was on point and the best I've seen from this writer to date. The steamy parts were well done and I loved the dynamic between the two characters. Both had me laughing more than once. I thought their romance was paced perfectly, nothing drawn out which I always appreciate.

Overall, a really solid, sexy romantic suspense story that kept me entertained from start to finish!

4 stars

This was a very good story. I really liked Sylvie and Nate and their story was enjoyable.

Sylvie is a chef with a restaurant that she's been working had to make a success. She is the daughter of a Scottish "free-spirited" artist and a Japanese father that is a boss in the ACS (Asian Crime Syndicate). She was raised away from her father and has done her best to stay out of his criminal enterprises...at least until recently.

Nate is an ex-CIA operative that now is partial owner in a security agency. His relationships tend to be serial monogamy, each relationship only lasting a couple of months each. The main reason for this is because Nate has been in love with Sylvie for 9 years.

Nate left the CIA a few years ago in an attempt to take his platonic friendship with Sylvie into a more serious relationship. Unfortunately, Sylvie was dating someone else and their friendship got put on hold when she ended her friendship with Nate at her boyfriend's insistence. Sylvie didn't tell Nate when she was free again, telling herself that she was too busy with her new restaurant and all. When Nate found out that Sylvie was finally free, he decided that it was time to make her his. He wasn't expecting to get immersed in issues between the DEA and the ACS when they reconnected.

When Sylvie and Nate come back together, she tries to put him off because she doesn't want to get him involved in her issues. It also seems like she's a bit scared to take things with Nate into a more serious area because it might ruin their friendship (not that they'd seen each other in over a year...). Nate won't take no for an answer though and realizes pretty quickly that she's involved in some bad stuff that could end her up in jail. While she had good reasons for what she was doing, her involvement brought her deeper into her father's world which put her in danger. With their previous friendship and the chemistry that never stopped, it's easy for the couple to fall into a relationship and they're a very good match. Things are strained and intense because of the actions of her father, his enemies and the DEA. Sylvie and Nate get through things well though (with some help from some friends you might recognize from other books by the author) and despite some drama and danger the couple ends the story with a very good HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked both Nate and Sylvie and liked them together. While I thought Sylvie wasn't necessarily smart about certain things, she wasn't a TSTL heroine. Nate was a really good hero. I couldn't blame him for his serial monogamous relationships...it made sense considering the fact he was hung up on Sylvie. The main issue I had with the story was Sylvie's parents...both were rather selfish and they left a bad taste in my mouth. Outside of that, I enjoyed the story very much and was happy to see things work out for the best. I'd recommend this story. :D

3rd book book in the Always series. Another great one, although I think that this could be a standalone.
I loved this H, Nate (YAY, I've been waiting for his story). Sylvie is such a sweetheart and so different from the other heroines in previous books. She's a civilian! Sylvie's a ramen chef in her own restaurant. She's gentle AND strong. I could subtitle this book: "The Tao of Sylvie" (lol)
Early on, Nate makes it known that he's finally come to his senses (& grown up). He wants to settle down & quit playing the field (to put it mildly). Sylvie and Nate have remained friends since they had a romantic relationship a few years ago. Sylvie hasn't been just waiting around-like I said she's a really strong and independent. I loved the part where Sylvie has some fun at Nate's ex's expense. Nothing too malicious, but just right.
Sylvie's mom is American and her father is Japanese. When she was very young, Sylvie's mother moved with her back to the U.S to live near Sylvie's maternal grandmother. Sylvie spent some time in Japan, learning the art of ramen creating. Sylvie has stayed in touch with her father, who has used Sylvie to import illegal drugs. Sylvie's Nana has a condition that is help by the ingredients in the drugs. This, of course has put Sylvie on the radar of Nate and his colleagues. There are some obvious bad guys and then a couple that surprised me.
This was such a page turner for me. I loved how the romance AND suspense was such an important part of this. I love it when the Hero pursues the heroine. Nate is very open about his love for Sylvie. Very sensual love scenes.*sigh*
The supporting characters are great, especially Nana, who helped raise her when Sylvie's mom was off traveling. Sylvie's mom was like a middle aged hipster. (yes, she reminds me of someone I know!- that always happens!). Sylvie's ramen restaurant was a great setting. Forget sushi, I'm on the look-out for some ramen!
I enjoyed the ending-I always want the bad guys to get their due.
I love the epilogue & I did guess right about 2 supporting characters.wink wink
4.5 stars ---I was team Nate, but I really like Sylvie!
Thank you Ms Paige for the ARC.
My opinion is my own. I highly recommend this book- read the trilogy!

Not a review/Note to self only: DNR & this is why:

The H knows the h for 9 yrs & had brief relationship with her & realised she's the one. But instead he breaks it off for no real reason to spend the next 9 years screwing around with woman after woman and also living with alot of women. While the whole time having the h in his life as a friend.

This is the worst kind of story , definitely not my kind of love story. Steer clear off this series as everyone in this series screws around while the significant other is already in the picture for years.

Uggh, another sleazy manwhore who can't keep it in his pants. But you know, he loves the h so much that he fucks around with other women for 9 years. Nate's kind of love I can do without forever.

I've enjoyed other books from this author. This one? I couldn't get through it. Nate was unlikeable. He talks about how the women he serial dates (🙄) know the score...yet he lets them move in with him and they essentially have an actual relationship - the latest of which lasts for 6 months. That's a long fucking time to be with someone just casually. Yes, the heroine moved on, but of course the latest boyfriend is only using her for her connections or some bullshit. I don't know...I was expecting more, I guess. And a more even playing field between the two of them 🤷‍♀️

DNF before halfway mark (skimmed to the end) so no rating.

5 Second Chance Stars

Sylvie and Nate finally got their second chance of love. They met and spend the night together. Due to their jobs, they decided just to be friends but they wanted more then that. Nate is BSI, more serious job than his past jobs. Sylvie is back in town as a chef. Sparks fly but just bad timing when have criminals to catch. Nate was all in and what he wants is Sylvie. He waited for her and since he had the opportunity to get, He is going after what's his.

If you love romance with a hint of suspense then this will be the book for you. Will def continue reading from this author.

Very Enjoyable Second Chance Romantic Suspense in the Always Series
4.5 stars

I always enjoy a romantic suspense story from Ms. Paige. I really liked the plot and the main characters. This is a second chance at love story with Nate and Sylvie. They missed their chance at love in the past but finally the time and place might be right for them. Sylvie, an up and coming chef of her own Japanese ramen restaurant, has become mixed up in her father's Asian crime syndicate's importation of illegal drugs. She is blackmailed into smuggling experimental medications which can also treat liver disease because she needs it to save her grandmother. She will do anything to save her beloved Nana, who practically raised her when her mother was always on traveling adventures. Nate, the man who left her behind to fulfill his CIA duties, is there to get her out of the danger that is looming from more enemies than they even realize.

I liked Sylvie from the beginning. She is the feisty, independent, take charge heroine we've come to expect from a Victoria Paige story. Her Japanese and Scottish heritage make for an interesting personality and family history. I enjoyed reading about Sylvie's Asian culture and restaurant cuisine. I appreciate how Ms. Paige includes details about the interests of the main characters to interweave into the story line that can be informative to the reader. Sylvie is pretty resistant to Nate's declaration of love because she doesn't want him to get involved in her dangerous activities. She is very protective of her family and the man she had to "friend zone" all these years. Unfortunately this protectiveness and stubbornness to handle things on her own gets her into trouble several times.

Nate is the typical jealous, possessive alpha male with a fun-loving personality who suddenly finds the woman he has regretted leaving behind is available. He has been a serial love 'em and leave 'em guy. Nate decides to claim Sylvie before it is too late by dumping his current superficial girlfriend, which leads to a break up scene in the beginning that was rather unpleasant, but typical of a player. Nate was just biding his time with women who knew the score because he was waiting for his chance with Sylvie. Once Nate went after Sylvie and showed his deep devotion, I was all about team Nate. He showed in words and actions that Sylvie was the woman he wanted forever in his life, and he was not giving her up this time. He was not going to allow Sylvie to keep him in the dark when he can help make things right for her and her family. His sexy and persuasive ways are right on target, and Sylvie decides to give their relationship a chance. It takes a little while for her full trust to catch up with her heart. This was not surprising given her upbringing and the failure of her first love affair with Nate.

I liked that Ms. Paige has done her usual research on how politics and espionage can work on a national and international scale. I was surprised about the identity of the true "bad guy" pulling the strings behind the scenes at the end of the story. The obvious evil of Sylvie's father was even more disappointing when his devotion to his own agenda took precedence over his child's life and happiness. I really like when a story can bring out my emotions like during the traumatic scare that Nate has while trying to save Sylvie in the end. The love scenes were erotic and the development of the couple's relationship seemed real despite the constant danger. It was nice to see familiar characters from the past two books in the series make an appearance. I really appreciated the plot, the love story, and the light-hearted banter as well as deep feelings between Nate and Sylvie. Top that with a great epilogue and this read was a winner for me.

Thanks to the author for the ARC of this story for which I was happy to leave a review.

Nathan Reece always wanted Sylvie. He finally could take his shot at a chance at her. He approached only yo learn she was dating someone.

Fast forward...Reece threw himself into relationship after relationship knowing he still wanted Sylvie. Then that day came. She was now single, he was now single. He wanted her. He needed her.

They slowly began to become one when her life, her family, her choices put her in danger. Get ready for this Love story. This book is so action packed. Once I started reading it I never put it down. Welcome to the story of Reece and Sylvie.

This is the story of Nate and Sylvie. I've always wanted to read Nate's story since reading the first book of this series (yes, I know...I need to update my goodreads "read" books quite a bit!) and I love second chance romances so I figured I couldn't go wrong with this!

Nate and Sylvie have been friends for close to a decade and besides a brief, casually exclusive affair, the timing has never been right for these two. She was engaged to someone who had been insecure of the friendship the two of these had and asked that she cut off all ties from him. Which she did. A year or so later, that relationship broke up and it's only when he finds out by chance that her engagement ended that they start talking again.

Sylvie, although a sweet heroine, is ridiculously naive with such a strong sense of family. So much so, that in order to help her grandmother (the woman who essentially raised her and the one person in her life who has never let her down) she becomes involved in the business of her sperm-donor of a father. He is one of the head honchos in the asian underworld and pretty soon she's doing illegal things and Nate has to step in and save the day (yay!).

I wasn't a fan of her mother. In fact, I found both Sylvie's parents to be incredibly self-absorbed people who only seemed to care about Sylvie's well-being if it benefited them in some way. I'm not sure I could have built a relationship with my mother if she abandoned me (like Sylvie's did) but it added more to the family dynamics. Nana was awesome! She was the very best thing in Sylvie's life and I completely understood how Sylvie was willing to do everything and anything in order to help her grandmother. And I think one of my favourite parts of the book was when Nana told her daughter some cold, hard truths about parenting and how she pretty much sucked in the early years.

For the most part I liked Nate. He was a manwhore up until he pulled his head out of his arse and decided that Sylvie was it for him. But from that point on, he was all about her and doing all that he could to keep her safe. It was a little disconcerting to go from him being a serial dater (I think that's supposed to be better than someone who just has one night stands...but it seems all the same to me) to being all about Sylvie, but I got over it and it worked. He wasn't an arsehole and it was more than clear that Sylvie was the most important thing in his life.

If you're looking for something to read that isn't too intense with a decent story and some romance that doesn't annoy the shit out of you, this is definitely for you :)

A Love for Always is the third instalment in the Always series and is Nate and Sylvie's story.

Nate is a security specialist and ex-CIA agent. Sylvie is a chef who owns her own restaurant. Nine years ago Nate and Sylvie had an intense and steamy affair but this ended when his CIA duties called. Unwilling to lose contact with each other completely, Nate and Sylvie decided to remain friends, but Nate has always known that she is the one for him. Despite Nate wanting out of the friend zone, fate always seemed to conspire against Nate and Sylvie being together and work, life and relationships always got in the way of their second chance. When Nate realises that there is finally nothing standing in their way, he is determined to make Sylvie his before he once again loses his chance. Despite Nate's plans, things are not going to be a simple as he thought as Sylvie now has secrets that she can never allow Nate to uncover. Faced with Sylvie's resistance, Nate does some digging and discovers that the choices Sylvie has made have landed her in trouble. With Sylvie now in danger, Nate will stop at nothing to protect the woman that he has always loved.

I have been looking forward to Nate's story since this series began and I can honestly say that I was not disappointed. Nate is sexy, fun, badass and very protective of Sylvie and her family. Sylvie is also a very likeable character, she is feisty, loyal, strong and gives Nate a run for his money. The interactions between the two leads are flirty and sexy, they have great banter and the depth of the feelings that have for each other are undeniable.

A Love For Always is a great read with plenty of action, suspense, romance and steam. I would definitely recommend this to romantic suspense lovers and I look forward to Victoria Paige's next book.

An ARC of A Love For Always was kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I know I can always trust Ms. Paige to deliver a well thought out, action packed, suspenseful and steamy hot romance. And I wasn’t disappointed.

The final book in this second chance romance series was just as entertaining and fun as those before. Me not being a lover of the whole “second chance romance” I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed them all, and specially this one, that didn’t have sudden appearances from supposedly dead lovers or an amnesiac wife making it almost like they met for the first time.

I do have to say that one of my favorite things about Ms. Paige’s writing are her uber-alpha bossy Hs. And while Nate filled this profile to a T, for the first 20% of the book it felt he was holding back his intensity, so it took me a little while to get into the story. But when he did give free reign to all that alpha yummyness, it was awesome.

Sylvie was a cute h, she had spunk and was a smartass, and I loved that about her. I understood her reasons for getting into the mess she got into, but honestly I wanted to slap her a bit at one point. That said, she always did what was best for everyone’s safety and when it really came to it, she fought with everything she had. So I “heart” you Sylvie

As usual A love for Always had great action scenes, the suspense was fantastic (I was really not expecting that outcome) and the epilogue… Thank you Ms. Paige, I loved it. It was the perfect ending and just what I wanted!

Victoria Paige had me at a second chance romance, throw in a bit of friends to lovers and a whole heap of romantic suspense and I'm truly sold.

Nate came across as a more mellow and happy-go-lucky alpha (but still alpha nonetheless) than Travis and Gabe (books 1 and 2 in the series) and I liked this for Sylvie. She needed the more gentle approach after what her parents did. Yes she's a little firecracker but underneath rather vulnerable. That said, she annoyed me with the move she pulled early on in the book - not clever Sylvie.

I wasn't too sure about Nate in the beginning, I didn't like the way he strung the girls along, but then again I couldn't hold that against him because they knew he wasn't committed to them. What I did love about Nate is that he knew how he felt about Sylvie and didn't shy away from letting her know it. I also loved the banter between them.

Another great romantic suspense from Victoria, wrapped up with a sweet epilogue.

I thought Victoria couldn't top Travis but she did. Nathan Reece is the man literally he's alpha man with humor. When he wants something he goes for it and he wanted Sylvie. This is the third book in The series and Its keep getting better. The book has romance and suspense. Both genres are balanced perfectly. The supporting characters are amazing I hope we get to see them in the future books. The AGS make appearance again. The romance between supporting characters is adorable. Loved meeting couple from past books. I am warming up to the the admiral. One of my favorite things about Victoria books are that we get a epilogue which is longer than one page. I love that. I am making myself your official fan girl because I've loved everything you've written and can't wait for more.

There are some books that just make me love reading, this was one of those. I really loved this novel. I have to say that I think this author is wonderful, so far I have loved everything she has written. I love the hero and heroine strong characters. I LOVED the dialogue and banter. Good dialogue is hard to write and good banter even harder. But this author does it to perfection. My only complaint was that I was sad when it ended, I wish I had read slower and savored it more. I really enjoyed this novel and I will be looking for this author in the future.

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review (thank you!). I liked Nate and Sylvie together. I also liked that Nate finally saw his opening and was going after Sylvie, who didn't put up too much of a stubborn fuss over the idea. It's not instalove since they started off in a relationship and for the past 8 years been close friends - it all flowed very naturally. The plot was very interesting and kept me on my toes. Of course, when you think you have it figured out... nope the bad guy was someone else. I do feel like that character's situation and own world was a little vague and unresolved so I'm not sure if we'll learn more about him/them. Either way, it was one of those moments in a book when you perk up and realize this just got good! I feel like I'm going to be shot for saying this, but... I didn't like Nana. In fact, there's a gut wrenching/confrontational scene with her that left me upset with her but also confused. I didn't really comprehend Sylvie's relationship with her mother and major issues up until that moment and felt like I missed something. On one hand I understand Nana and Sylvie's feelings, but on the other the degree she took it to against her daughter felt out of nowhere and quickly escalated.

I've really enjoyed this series (Always) and particularly the Guardians series that intertwines with this group of characters. This was a great addition to that world and keeps me wanting more. I'm not sure who the next would be about since there wasn't an obvious character and storyline being developed... maybe Sam?

Well written, creative and researched, with fun, sexy characters and a story full of action and heat, "A Love For Always" will hold your interest from beginning to end!!! You will find yourself submerged in Sylvie and Nate's relationship, its evolution and their super hot chemistry!!! You will wonder about their "different side of the fence" love: one related to a powerful mafia's underworld while another one fighting it! I honestly was so taken by the book that i didn't hear the end knocking on my door! I was expecting a little bit more though! Maybe for closure! I found the end a little to sudden, to rushed... But again, maybe it's just me being greedy. I still have some questions like: What happened to her relationship with her dad? Toshiro? I honestly never wanted this book to end!!! I loved it so much i wanted more! More of Sylvie and Nate... But again that's just me! I have to give Victoria Paige the thumbs up for an awesome read!! Really amazing!!!!

Second chance love, mystery and suspense this book has it all. The story telling is brilliant, the suspense perfectly done, the Romance felt real not rushed since they had known each other for nine years the sex scenes were sweet and hot and yummy. Nate is one alpha male who knows what and who he wants. Slyvie is a head strong female lead who isn't afraid to stand her ground. Secondary characters are great, the mystery suspense perfectly done. Who the bad guy is totally didn't get until revealed, thought it was some one else. So totally a great read. Highly recommend read. Victoria Paige is an author I'll watch for and read anything and everything she writes, she is a brilliant author.
Gifted this book for an honest review.

What a great addition to the series. Nate and Sylvie's story started a bit slow for me. Then I found myself searching out every moment I could continue reading. I was sucked in to the story and Nate and Sylvie were great characters. There was a bit less action in this one. It was just enough for me. I felt for Sylvie with the reveal. I didn't see that coming either. I love when that happens, but it still makes sense when it does.

And then, there's the admiral. It's no secret I have a thing for the admiral. Loved that addition. (But I still want my novella ;) )

Another great Romantic suspense from Victoria Paige. They go from Friends to lovers with this second chance romance. If you liked her previous books this one won't disappoint.

Nice close to the series.

I tried tk review the first 2 books in this series but whenever I tried it popped up "error, try again later..." so...at least in can review this one.

When I read the description I wasn't thrilled. Just...meh. But wanted to finish the series, and i wanted to see how things went for Nate. Suffice to say and glad I was was wrong with my first thoughts. Was a really good read. The characters were thoroughly worked thru. The heroine was tough but not in the annoying masculine way.

The climax ending was...yeah. had me freaking out...but im not going to ruin it for anyone.

This also buttoned up the series well. Between Travis and Cat. Gabe and Bee and even thr admiral...yep. good closure. I was worried the Admiral would be killed off in the end...glad he wasn't.

Security expert Nathan Reece has serial dated rather than settling for someone other than chef Sylvie Yoshida. Aware that they’re both free right now, Nate rushes to Sylvie’s side but once again the timing is bad. Sylvie is being watched by DEA. It could just be to get to her Asian crime boss father but they insist it’s her.

Nate doesn’t want to believe it but when confronted with evidence he has to dig a big deeper and finds Sylvie’s extremely concerned about her grandmother’s health, her father has been using her, Sylvie also has an ardent suitor that doesn’t want to take no for an answer and that’s from a cursory glance. When Sylvie’s restaurant is blown up, she’s inside!

Loose ends

Again I like these books and I think they’re very action packed and thrilling, but the details that involve the romance that you’re reading about are missing. Weddings specifically all these couples we follow through each of these books have this crazy love story and we don’t get a wedding chapter in the end or a good description of the engagement rings or even a heartfelt proposal; only 1 of the 3 guys proposals was written for us to read.
