About the author

Elodie Lawton Mijatović (also spelled Mijatovics and Mijatovich, 1825 - December 13, 1908) was a British author who lived in Boston in the 1850s, where she was an advocate of the abolitionist movement. In 1864 she married Serbian politician, writer and diplomat, Čedomilj Mijatović (1842–1932), and lived with him in Belgrade and then in London where she died. She translated several works from English into Serbian, and published several books on Serbia in English, including Тhe History of Modern Serbia (London: William Tweedie, 1872) and Serbian Folk-lore (London: W. Isbister & Co, 1874).

She translated Serbian national songs of the Kosovo cycle into English and tried to organise them into one national ballad: Kossovo: an Attempt to bring Serbian National Songs, about the Fall of the Serbian Empire at the Battle of Kosovo, into one Poem (London: W. Isbister, 1881).

حكايا شعبية من صربيا

هذا الكتاب الخفيف سهل الهضم
يتكون من 15 قصة تتفاوت في طولها كما في محتواها، أكثر قصه نالت إعجابي هي " العدل أم الظلم أيهما أفضل؟ "،

بعض القصص كانت ذات هدف بين و بعضها لتسلية فحسب، أسلوب المترجم ممتاز جدا ولا يمل منه

حقيقةً أحيي مركز أبوظبي للثقافة والتراث حيث كانت المقدمة التي طرحت هدفهم في بناء جسور التواصل بين شعوب الأرض و حضاراتها و تعزيز العمق الثقافي... دفعة قوية لأقرأ هذا الكتاب و هذه السلسلة بإذن الله

I've been playjng around with the ida of learning Serbian for so long now it's ridiculous but I haven't gotten arkund yo.it yet. For me as a language nerd and someone who also studies them in college fairytales are the gateway to not only a new language but it's culture.
Why is that?

Between “once upon a time” and “happily ever after” lies a timeless, ever-changing world, where everything is possible and dreams do come true.

Countless fairy tales with infinite variations, usually conveying moral, social or political lessons through skillful narrative and interesting characters, have existed throughout history and throughout the world.

اعجبتني القصص جدًا وكذلك ترجمتها رغم إجادتي للغتها الأم إلا أن الترجمة تصل إليك وتشعر بقيمة العمل
كذلك لنفس المؤلف مجموعة أخري بعنوان ( الراعي والأميرة) وهى كذلك حكايات شعبية من صربيا

وعن هذه المجموعة وكذلك مجموعة الراعي جميعها نجدها تمثل قبائل تلك المناطق حيث روسيا اليوم وما حولها من جمهوريات صغرى ما بعد تفكك الإتحاد السوفيتي أى أنها تمثل نفس الفلكلور .

هذا الكتاب هو عندي من أجمل مؤلفات هذه المجموعة مع كتاب (عروس الجن ) الخاص بالهنود الحمر

مترجم للعربية من مشروع كلمة أبوظبي للثقافة والتراث الذي يجمع الحكايات والأساطير والخرافات الشعبية لتشيع ثقافة التسامح والحوار وبناء جسور التواصل بين شعوب الأرض وحضاراتها.
هنا حكايات وخرافات شعبية من صربيا، قصص قصيرة من الأساطير يمثل كلاً منها حكمة في النهاية وبعضها قصة مجردة.
بوجه عام غالبيتها من تلك القصص المكررة كأن يفوز الفقير بإبنه الملك ويتزوجها أو يخطفها حيوانات النبيل من قصر والدها الملك...الخ
ولكن بعضها رائعة وبها حكم كقصة رد الجميل بمثله، المهنة التي لايعرفها أحد، التوأم ذهبي الشعر، حلم ابن الملك، من حفر حفرة وقع فيها.
