Charlotte Moore has nothing to prove. As one of the only female smokejumpers in the nation, she’s already shown that she has what it takes to keep up with the elite big boys of firefighting. But when a reassignment lands her with a new crew of aloof smokejumpers who have a strange secret, she finds herself second-guessing whether the headaches of being the only woman in an all-boys club are worth it. To complicate things further, she can’t keep her mind off of the gorgeous crew chief.
Ian Reed has a crew to protect. As alpha to a clan of bear shifters who have lost everything important to them, the last thing he wants to deal with is a nosy new woman joining their crew. Especially a woman who makes his heart beat faster every time she’s within fifty feet of him. Ian knows he should push to get her reassigned somewhere else before she discovers that his men are hiding bears within them, but he can’t bring himself to let go of the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.
Will Charlotte see past Ian’s unfriendly exterior to his compassionate heart? And can Ian trust Charlotte with the truth about his crew? Find out, in the first installment of the Fire Bear Shifters Series.
Content Warning: This 28K word novella is a standalone with no cliffhangers. As you would expect, firefighting bear shifters know how to heat things up! Expect explicit love scenes and adult language. Rawr!

Ian and his team of smokejumpers are more than a working team, they are their own unique bear shifter clan. These men have survived the destruction of their original clan and as the only survivors have banded together as a new clan with Ian as their alpha. As adults they’ve been through a lot together, but now they’ve been assigned as a group to one smokejumping crew.
The trouble begins when a new crew member is assigned to them. A woman who is a skilled smokejumper but also is an outsider who may expose the fact that they are shifters to the wrong people. It doesn’t help the situation when Ian is attracted to Charlotte and recognizes her has his lifemate.
A Blaze to Bear is an intense, interesting beginning to a new series by Sloane Meyers. These bears have their own uniqueness, their own history and their won troubles. In time we will have each of the clan’s stories told to us. But for now Ian’s clan is adjusting to a new member both professionally and ass a human within their clan as their alpha’s lifemate. Every author’s shifters have their own uniqueness, and these bears are no different.
I enjoyed this story very much. Sexy, steamy where it needed to be and a solid story throughout. I look forward to following the rest of the men’s stories and hope that they find their lifemates as well. Perhaps not quite so easily but happily at least.
Charlotte and Ian's story was a good one. The interaction amongst all of the characters was very good. What I did not like was the abrupt ending.
Ian is the alpha of the Bear Claw Clan. They are a group of Five bear shifters who are Smoke jumpers. They are an elite group. When they are assigned another smoke jumper by the name of Charlie, they are not thrilled. Ian is even angrier when they all go to receive their new member and Charlie turns out to be a woman.
Charlotte thinks she is going to be received with open arms...so not the case. She is received by a hot hunk of a growly man who obviously has a problem with her being there.
This story had the makings of a great book but the alpha was a bit too soft for my taste. I also think the end was too abrupt. I'm going to try book two and hope it's better.
At first I thought: well, this looks like finally something with a more original heroine (not a curvy girl with self esteem issues) for this kind of book and maybe even no insta-mate shit? But no, there is insta-mate shit and also unfortunately the heroine is extremely annoying. She is called 'sarcastic' when she is outright confrontational and rude, constantly angry and self-righteous. Saying shit like 'well you should have trusted me' when they literally just met and don't know her, and shit like 'I am always right', and gives advices on how the alpha should handle his team. I don't know, I kind of really didn't get any of the interactions or emotions in this book. They are all randomly angry and rude and say childish things to each other that make no sense.
A team of smokejumpers makes for a different scenario, and one that had me thinking "oh hello" when I saw the ad on Instagram. Good enough for me, I was in!
I'm only just starting to look into shifter romances that don't involve wolves. I guess until now I've stuck to the classics? LOL. Anyway, this is I think the first Bear shifter romance that I've come across and have to say it was pretty good.
I guess my only gripe was that it was wrapped up abruptly in a "wait, WHUT?" sort of way. One moment Charlie is a very independent woman, then she and Ian are suddenly a couple without all that many questions and answers. I daresay if I were to continue with the series they might get fleshed out a little more, but as a toe-dip read this book did the job.
It really irritated me how easily Charlotte got everybody to turn on Zach. Zach's fears were well placed. Charlotte only knew them a very short time so why should she feel obligated to know they were shifters right away. Ian chose Charlotte over his crew at the end of the day. I get its his lifemate but he should not of chosen sides. I can't see him as a respectable alpha now. Charlotte and Zack should of dealt with their issues themselves instead of Ian teelling Zach to like her.
A cute insta love/list read. The shifter romance got my attention because of the backstory and their job. I loved seeing the actions of them as the Elite firefighters. The attraction was immediate as was the attitude. I thought their dialogues and Hunter in general were precious. The attitude and irritation from the second in command irked me as it seemed forced or over the top.
Interesting story and ready to see what happens with the rest of the team!
a quick cute story and I do love Charlottes character but was slightly disappointed in Ian not being alpha enough but I did understand he in a way was still growing into the lead
This story is such an emotional coaster ride, you will want to make sure you have your seatbelt fastened tightly, as we witness the rocky start to a relationship between Ian, bear clan alpha and leader of the Burning Claws smokejumper group, and Charlotte, aka Charlie, one of very few female smokejumpers and totally human. As soon as Charlotte climbs out of the plane that delivered her to their landing field, Ian knew he was a goner, and his bear wasn’t giving him any slack either. She was his mate. But his human side resisted, every painful step of the way. It didn’t help that his second in command, Zach, was completely against having her stay there and be part of their group, especially after Ian told him of his bears’ reaction. But being the boss means that you can’t please everyone, and when you try, you usually mess up…big time. Charlotte has her suspicions that there is something a bit supernatural with the group, but just can’t put her finger on it, until she overhears a conversation between Ian and Zach. Emotions run wild, almost as wild as the fires they all set to put out, in this very fast paced tale of love and the hurdles life throws at us on our journey to find it. An awesome read that will leave you thirsting for more of these hunky smokejumpers. Maybe because of his attitude, I would hope this author has Zach’s story to tell sooner than later.
Ian leads an exclusive team of Smoke Jumpers, the Burning Claws. What makes them so exclusive is that they're all bear shifters. They were in he military together, and now they work for the Forest Service together. Charlie is the new member of the team and Ian is pissed off. A non-shifter and newbie at that added to the group. Charlie gets off the helicopter and surprise, surprise. He is a she, and the internal roars begin. How can Ian cope with a female non-shifter sniffing around his group of guys? Especially with his bear having HIS nose in the air around HER? Charlotte Moore is a surprise all right! Not a newbie, but an experienced smoke jumper who can teach the team a trick or two, even Ian. And the tricks she teaches Ian, WOW! Watch as they set back fires to control the blaze. Watch out for flash fires, and sparks starting new ones through the forests and their lives. Enjoy the flight as much as I did.
I absolutely loved this story, I couldn't stop tuning the pages!! This is a highly addictive, exciting journey with bear shifters, any fan of shifters will love this novella. This is the first time I have read any fiction that included smoke jumpers and this reall interested me that firefighters risk their lives in this way. I loved the whole dynamic of this book, of how the team of shifters interact with each other, though the good and bad times. Also how they all handled a female human being added to the mix. I thought Charlotte's character was awesome, I love a strong female character. She is smart, confident and knows what she wants making her the perfect match for Alpha bear Ian who is just as strong willed and passionate. I also loved Hunter, there is just something very sweet about him. I cant wait to read more of Sloane Meyers work!!!
Charlotte Moore became determined to fight fires after loosing her family. Ian Reed is alpha to his crew and needs to protect them from humans finding out their secret. Instantly Ian's bear wants Charlotte, but not all his crew agrees. Will Ian give in to his feelings? Will Charlotte forgive him for his secrets?
This book was the first of Sloane Meyers I read and it had me hooked. You have Ian who is struggling to keep himself, his lifemate, and his crew happy. Charlotte was a tough woman and where some would have given up she continually trained to improve. Great book and definitely recommend to Paranormal Romance lovers!

This was a great start to this bear-shifter series. I loved the characters and the story - these survivors of a bear clan stayed together and are now smoke jumpers - one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. These men have strengths and weaknesses - but above all that, loyalty! When one of them finds his true mate - they all have adjustments to make...
Kindle Unlimited book. Standalone read. He's the chief and his crew is hiding secret. When their new crew member is a female, things are really shaken up!
This is a very good story with depth and emotions. A story of smokejumpers, who also happen to be bear shifters and a new member whose name is Charlie...short for Charlotte. It's a great story filled with secrets and errors. I'd recommend it
Ian and Charlotte such fun to read! I really loved this quiet unsure Alpha and his feisty human mate who gives him the confidence he needs to lead this group of hot bear shifter firefighters! If you like paranormal give this series a try
Zach probably felt like he wanted to challenge the alpha. I loved how she stood up to them like a little spit fire. Ian deserved to be happy, definitely a good story.
Nice little novella showcasing smoke jumping firefighters. Enjoyed the world building, the characters had great chemistry and a happy ending. What more could you ask for?
This was your typical quick shifter story. I am glad it was free or it might have been a disappointment to me. I do not think I will read again but it was ok.
