Just when Jasper thought everything was falling into place, with him finally getting married to Clara and being accepted by his comrade Solomon Dalton’s family. But as luck would have it, he’d been getting depressed lately and was thinking of his life way back home. Soon, a new danger had surfaced.
The Confederates were coming and they were looking for traitors and spies in the enemy’s territory. Jasper had been abducted, along with Cecelia (Clara’s sister) whom they thought was his fiancee. Now Solomon was back in the line of war, to retrieve his sister and helped back a friend. Little did he know that there’s someone else following him and his every move. Will he be able to go back to his family alive again this time?
This is the second book in Lexy Timm’s Southern Romance series and just like with the first book, I was mesmerized by the story of love and war. It takes a strong and determined person to go forth and engage in battle in order to save the ones you love.
I admired Solomon for his courage and dedication to his family. For me, he is the hero in this second book. Cecelia was a revelation to me, such a young child with a spark and fiery fighting spirit. Jasper and his undying love for Clara also had me going through the pages.
Kudos to Lexy Timms for another sure hit! This woman is simply enthralling. I really like the worlds she build, from Celtic era, to vampire territory, to universities and now, Civil War. I never get bored with her stories. Looking forward to reading more from her!
I received this book for free from Hurricane Readers in exchange for an honest review.
