I grew up without the life everyone around me got to experience. The life where they were safe and protected. I lost everything I had ever loved, taken by the man who hated me for a reason I never understood. The daily fear of my childhood made me shut my heart away from everyone as an adult.
Until her.
She came into my life and turned it upside down. She was my friend, she was my confidant, she was my strength. She also was the reason I have just made the worst mistake of my life, I let my anger win and now I'm paying for that moment of insanity.
Now she is the one who holds my future in her hands, everything is in her control. Will she be able to make the biggest decision of her life and save me from losing what I have spent so long trying to find?
I didn’t know there was someone out there who would give up everything for me, that they would put their life in danger for me. That they would be the home I had always dreamt about.
She is my everything and I hope she knows that she’s … Leaving Her Mark.
After being married for ten years and raising three beautiful kids I decided it was time to do something for myself. My passion for reading bled over with a need to tell the story that was repeating in my head and that was the birth of my first book. The rest they say is history.
I love the creative release that writing gives you, being able to take someone away to a different world feels amazing. As a reader I know how important that escape is, and as a writer I love to be able to give people that.
My other loves include music and reading (in case I haven't mentioned that before) and then when I have time a little more reading. I think if I could read for a living I would, but since I can't I will continue on the writing side of things.
I started Book Two with a bit of trepidation and my heart in my mouth wondering how things were going to come good for Gabe & Rhys. I was getting my knickers in a knot lol!!
I wanted to shake Gabe; boy can he be frustrating sometimes. Self-sacrifice is all well & good but not when he’s holding Rhys’s heart in his hand. It’s Rhys who has to go to war in this book to save the man she loves and wake him up!
Our heroine finds she’s made of sterner stuff and makes a deal with the devil to save the man she loves. I loved watching her character grow in this book & fight for what she wants.
But Gabe…..
He really has stolen my heart!! He’ll do all he can to hold on to what he’s found with Rhys; a home *cue happy sigh*:
“She was the person I wasn’t looking for but she was exactly what I needed.”
I literally couldn’t put this book down till I found out what happened. I went through a whole gamut of emotions (again!!) while reading. Had the odd rant, as you do!! When they hurt; I hurt. When they laughed; I laughed. I had a few choice words for T.A. while reading this book; I didn’t want them to go through anything else.
I seriously love this author’s writing and how she engages her readers with some of the sensitive issues featured in the series. You will not be disappointed.
Note: Copy of book received from author in exchange for an honest review.
This book deserves 10 stars, but as GR will only let me give it 5, that's what I'll give it.
This story killed me, built me up, just to drop me down again, and rebuild me however it saw fit. This book made me its bitch and I loved every second of it! I couldn't wait to to turn the page to see what happened next - I captured me, gobbled me up then spat me out... and at the end, I screaming for more - almost literally.
Gabe & Rhys truly reignited my love and passion for reading - the story, the characters, the writing - is all off the charts amazing. T A McKay truly is a literary genius. Her writing gets better and better with each book she does, this book really is outstanding, and I say to anybody who hasn't read this series - WHY THE HELL NOT! Get it. Read it. Love Gabe, because you can't help not, even when you want to slap him upside the head. Fall for Rhys and he struggle, I guarantee you'll end up with a girl crush on her too!
Couldn't wait to get my hands on this book after the real WTF moment at the end of ' Leaving his mark'. I didn't disappoint , Gabe & Rhys were perfect together but they had a real struggle with everything that was being thrown at them throughout this book. Gabe strong and protective, thinking he was doing what was right for Rhys but would he take it past the point of no return? Rhys, I loved her hard and she was a perfect leading lady and I have to say she was a better person than me, would I have kept going like she did and would I have let him get away with some things? That would be a hell no but luckily she's not me! Loved the book and storyline but later in the book I don't mind saying I wanted to hunt Gabe down and punch him and did I believe what he said after to Rhys ....no not entirely.....but I loved them both all the same. Clay was a fantastic friend and I loved him harder if that's possible and I now eagerly await his book!
Oh Gabe, Gabe, Gabe. Where do I begin?? I love this series, this author, and these characters. Rhys and Gabe are my favourites. Their story is so unlike anything else, so heart-warming, and at times, gut-wrenching. I binge read this. *whispers* Whilst at work. Unable to put it down. I now own the paperbacks too! I'm obsessed. I love McKay's style of writing in this series, the second book flowing perfectly from the first. I laughed, swore, promised myself I'd put it down and get on with life, but no. I didn't, thus nothing getting done that day.
This is definitely a story I will re-read over and over again.
Leaving Her Mark is the sequel to Leaving His Mark. It picks up at the cliffhanger where the first left off. I adore TA McKay's writing; each of her books has captivated me...and this one is no different! Some characters I love, some characters I hate, sometimes she frustrates me with a plot twist, but she always does an amazing job of relaying the story.
Rhys and Gabe are a very passionate couple and their love scenes are just hot!! If you read the first book, you have to read this one. It is well worth your time!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Loved this book. Made me so mad at times it had me screaming at my kindle. Following on from the events that happened at the end of the first book, Rhys and Gabe are both paying the price for what happened. With Gabe pushing her away, Rhys is even more determined to fight for her man. As much as i loved this book it was Gabes friend Clay that i fell for. I can't wait for his book after reading this, you just know he's got his own story to tell and what a story that's gonna be.
It took me a while to finish this book. For no other reason then work! But I finally bloody finished it and I floved it. I have loved every one of T.A McKay's books so it's no surprise this would be any different. I can't wait to see what else she brings out
4 star read. I enjoyed this but not as much as book 1. The first half of the book Rhys and Gabe aren't together and he's in jail for a lot of that as well. Once they start connecting again, the book picked back up for me.
As Gabe sees his life slipping away, he knows that he will never be the man that is good enough for Rhys. He’s trouble just like his dad, and he has to get her to see this. He refuses to see her time and time again, but Rhys is one determined and stubborn girl. And, when she makes a deal with the devil, how will this affect Gabe and Rhys’ relationship?
As if this couldn’t be more intriguing than the first book! It pulls you in and doesn’t let go as Gabe and Rhys’ relationship teeters back and forth throughout the book. It’s filled with ups and downs as heartache and drama promises to keep the reader engaged until the final page is turned. Rhys does something that is pretty bold and just proves to me that she is one courageous young woman. She’s bound and determined to keep her man more than ever. Gabe is her forever, and she’s hellbent on seeing that through til’ he’s back in her arms to stay. And, Gabe, he just seems so confused and giving up just seems to be the only answer. Oh, poor Gabe! He just was trying to protect his woman, and now look at the mess he’s in.
I loved this couple! The chemistry is there, and they’re perfect together. They understand each other, and they can relate because their pasts were both traumatic and painful. Their best friend, Clay, is still around to protect and support both Gabe and Rhys. He’s one true friend that will always have their back no matter what. I’m so glad to hear that he will be getting his own book in the future. I’m sure that it will be one wild ride!
This duet of books was fantastic! Another new author that I discovered and will keep on my radar for the future. She just had me entertained from start to finish. The story kept me on my toes while the characters proved to be creatively impressive. One book not to be missed!!
"Music starts to play through the overhead speakers and I remember the playlist well, it's the one I played when I gave Rhys her tattoo. The memory makes me smile and I realise how far we have both come and how happy we are together. That day in this shop I left my mark on her but little did I know that she was leaving her mark on me." ~ Gabe (Epilogue)
Out of the first two books, I have preferred this one. Following on from book 1, we see that Gabe was locked up for attacking Paul after he left Rhys battered and bruised at a party. The law locked Gabe up, but let Paul walk free. The first few chapters were annoying, because Gabe was stubborn and wouldn't see Rhys while he was in prison. Pushed her away and told he didn't love her...Rhys figured out Gabe was lying to protect her, so she got Paul to drop the charges on Gabe if she dropped the charges on him...Gabe was releases from prison, but now Paul was free to do what ever he likes.
Gabe and Rhys work out their love for one another and they try to piece their life together.
Paul leaves Gabe for Dead in the lane behind the club, but luckily he survived with broken bones and swelling on the brain....Paul on the other hand wasn't so lucky after Clay got his hands on him.
Gabe started his life with Rhys...updated his business, married Rhys and has a baby boy on the way.
