Króliki Pana Boga

Rate this book
Maj 1945. Adam, Halina i Honza – rozbitkowie, którzy ocaleli z wojennej hekatomby – próbują wrócić do Polski.

The war is over, suffering and despair are not ...
The second book in The Berlin Trilogy is a novel of coming back home of those lucky ones who survived the concentration camps, forced labour or any other misfortunes. There is little joy and too much pain in the three main characters who long to reunite with their families in Poland.
The author manages to depict the atmosphere of the days when the euphoria of the first days of freedom and return home was overshadowed by hunger, primitive travelling conditions and dangers.
Terrific novel with beautiful writing and protagonists who are not easily forgotten. Now, onto Book3!

I was a bit surprised that this is not a story told by a real person, but a fiction book. But the style od writing and events pictured in this book, so coherent with the account of a real people, made me immerse in this book.
