The Earthman Jack Space Saga #2

Earthman Jack vs. The Secret Army

Rate this book
After his heroic battle against the Deathlords on the Ghost Planet, Jack Finnegan is looking forward to arriving at Omnicron Prime, the capitol planet of the Galactic Regalus Empire -the largest and most advanced civilization in the universe.

Things are looking bright for Jack. He has his unconventional group of friends, his mystical spaceship, and the girl of his dreams -Princess Anna. Not to mention a secret mission that could save Earth and everyone he cares about.

But things get complicated when he arrives at Omnicron. Not only is Jack uncomfortable being thrust into the spotlight for his courageous actions to save the universe, but he soon finds life in the Empire isn't everything he'd dreamed it would be.

His friends abandon him to pursue their own interests. Greedy and cunning politicians conspire to steal his spaceship. Even his relationship with Anna is strained now that she's gone from being "the girl next door" to the most powerful woman in the universe.

But beneath all that lies a new and terrifying threat from the Deathlords. A threat that grows in secret, slowly spreading throughout the Regalus Empire like a plague, and it threatens to destroy from within the only thing powerful enough to stop the Deathlords and their malicious rampage throughout the galaxy -the Empire itself.

Worst of all -Jack is the only one who knows about this new threat, and no one will believe his warnings.

Suddenly, the Empire is no longer safe for Jack and his friends. Even the people they've come to rely on the most can no longer be trusted. As those he's sworn to protect turn against him, how can Jack hope to save the day?

Fighting the Deathlords was one thing. Fighting the "good guys" is quite another. Will Jack be able to find the strength to be the hero the universe needs?

Or will he finally be defeated by this Secret Army?

The Value of a Star: Ratings Explained

To Be Published on 9/15/15...

Earthman Jack is Really, Really Cool...

A while back, Hugh Howey—indie author extraordinaire and vocal advocate for self-published authors—shared a letter on his blog from some guy named Matt Kadish who had written a book and self-published it on Amazon. Hugh Howey hasn't lead me wrong yet, so looked up Matt’s book on Amazon…600+ pages for $.99? Harry Potter meets Star Wars? Uh…duh. I downloaded Earthman Jack vs. The Ghost Planet immediately. And then didn't read it. For like a year.

I can’t remember what made me finally pick it up, but I can tell you that once I got going I plowed through it. I hadn't had that much fun reading in, I don’t know, maybe EVER! (Read my original EJ1 review here). I Immediately went back to the beginning and started again, this time reading out loud to my kids—and they loved it as much as I did.

I’d found a rare thing. I’d found a self-published book that deserves to be read.

That was early last year, and since then I've been anxious to get my hands on the second installment, Earthman Jack vs. The Secret Army, to see if Matt Kadish can deliver again. Now that I've had my hands on every page, I think I might have to start calling him Matt “The Mailman” Kadish because—yep, you guessed it—he delivered. Big time.

Like EJ1, EJ2 starts off slow—not slow like boring. Slow like brisket in a slow cooker. Once the action gets going around the half way point, the blood pressure and the laughs (Isn't that a great combination?) both reach levels only found in the best books.

Certainly Earthman Jack isn't for everyone. Like, for example, if you’re boring and don’t like to laugh, I suggest you go read something more your style. Maybe try something by that Stephenie Meyer person. But if you can handle some good, light hearted fun without taking yourself (or your books) too seriously, you really need to read Earthman Jack. Start with the first one though.

A warning for my more discerning followers: There is some “15-year-old-boy speak” in this book. Things like “Most girls would at least let you cop a feel…” or “Yeah, remember that thing she does with her tongue?” came up a handful of times. Nothing I would feel uncomfortable letting my 14-year-old read, but things I’ll likely filter out when I read it aloud to my 8-year-old.

Also—and this is a biggie—there is a cliffhanger the size of the Grand Canyon at the end of this thing. I wish I had Matt Kadish’s phone number, because I would have called him demanding an explanation when I turned the last page to find out what happens and I find this instead:

Earthman Jack will return in…

EARTHMAN JACK

VS.

THE CONCLAVE OF CORRUPTION

Curse you, The Mailman. All I know is that you’d better deliver Book 3 soon.

Because Earthman Jack is really, really cool.

I have been waiting for two years for this book to come out. TWO YEARS!! I would have been really peeved if it turned out like a lot of series where the second book is just OK, but this one wow’ed me as much as the first. Please oh please book Gods (this means you Kadish) do not make me wait another two years to read more about what happens to Earthman Jack and his friends.

This second installment takes place almost completely on one planet, whereas the first was a romp around the universe. That didn’t make it any less exciting. Kadish also added some references that the target audience might not get but older readers should (for example a small cameo from Doctor Who and a bar called Miracle Max). There isn’t much sense in me giving you the general rundown of what happens here. If you haven’t read the first book, it will mean nothing and if you did read it, then I’m sure you’re going to read this one regardless of what I tell you.

This series isn’t for everyone. For some unknown reason, there are certain readers out there who don’t like young-adult/juvenile books. Perhaps they feel like a story is only good when filled with adults. I’m not sure but I can tell you they are missing out on some serious fun!!

I can’t wait until my grandson is old enough to read this series. I already know they will be his most favorite books. They are already on my list of favorites. I highly recommend for anyone who loves reading fun, well written books full of adventure and comradery!!

I was graciously gifted a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

5 Super Awesome Stars!
Simply Amazing! An Adventure Worth Reading... For All Ages!

The Review:
I knew after that opening dream sequence where a super tall Macho Man Randy Savage the size of the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man from Ghostbusters was attacking the city, we were in for one heck of a ride with this story. I wasn’t wrong! After reading the first book in this series, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this second installment in the adventures of Jack and his friends. Trust me, it was worth the wait. Earthman Jack vs. the Secret Army was such a joy to read. It was adventurous, exciting, loaded with amazing, creative story and character building that kept me glued to the pages, and it’s brimming with fun pop culture references, humor, and heart stopping adventure.

I couldn’t put this one down!

Story/Characters...
After the first book and the devastating realization that he could never go home, Jack finds himself truly alone for the first time in his life, even though he’s in the company of good friends. Jack and company are on their way to Omnicron Prime where almost immediately upon arriving at the capitol of the Galactic Empire, Jack’s friends take their leave to continue their own lives, leaving Jack in this new, strange world by himself. He’s having to face problems he's never had before, and situations he doesn't know how to handle.

He’s deciding the course of his future, making new friends and fame and celebrity status follow him around. But not all is well in his new life. He slowly starts to unravel a Deathlord plan that will destroy his new home and the entire universe. Things are not safe, no one believes him and he knows he must do something before it’s too late. He's a stranger stranded in a place unrecognizable from his own.

The galaxy is in danger, war is on the horizon and some are already fighting the battle for their lives. Jack has the courage and the will. All he needs to do is get his friends to believe him, get the girl he loves out of the clutches of the enemy and save the entire galaxy from extension. Easy, peasy. Right?

But just as before, Jack comes out fighting and determined to save the day.

There are a plethora of hilarious, scary, thrilling moments in this fabulous book. There’s also a sweet love story taking place as things heat up between Jack and Anna but with her royal position and Jack’s Earth origins, it’s complicated at best. Throw in a controlling government, a third party love interest and a band of Deathlords trying to annihilate everything in sight, things become unglued quickly. There’s plenty of “feels” as the author gives us a bit of teenage angsts while Jack experiences true heartbreak and struggles with his Earthman feelings.

Jack is an amazing character. He’s courageous, smart and has a great personality. You can’t help but love and feel for him. He finds himself in the craziest situations, most steeped in perilous danger, but he pushes forward, even at the risk of his own life, to make sure justice is upheld. He cares deeply for the old life he lost but he also loves the life he’s now leading. He finds ways to thrive in uncertain circumstances and he wow’s both the reader and his mates.

The crew is back in action and the rag-tag team we grew to love so much in the first book are given plenty of page space. We get to see more of their personal lives outside of Jack’s adventures and we’re given insight into their pasts. I loved getting to know them better.

The Wrap Up:
EJ2 opens with a slow slide into awesome. And it continues to build and expand until the climatic ending! It may be labeled young adult and centered around the life of a headstrong fifteen year old boy, but it’s definitely a read for all ages. I read this for myself, then passed it down to my daughter who loved it just as much as I did.

Jack will totally make you believe in heroes again. He’s unique amongst his peers and written so well, you’ll believe in the world the author creates. I had so much fun reading this book. It’s uncompromising story, it’s adventurous plot and it’s well crafted characters will endear you, make you reminisce about your own childhood and bring all the adventures you once thought were possible, back to life. I can’t wait to see what Jack and friends get up to next. Whatever it is, sign me up!

Would I suggest it? Definitely!

This book was a 9/10 rating for me.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, there may also be slight non-specific spoilers, so read ahead at your own risk.

This is the second book in the Earthman Jack series and another rollicking space adventure for Jack and his gang of misfits.

I read the first book, and really enjoyed it. It was a great read. The second book tops it and then some - it was familiar yet new and so easy to settle in to. Kadish's inimitable style, his flawed yet likable characters and the humor, world and adventure he's created made this one a no-brainer for a five star rating.

The second book, while familiar, does not keep to the same stomping grounds. The territory changes when Jack’s universe expands to encompass the vast construct of Omnicron and Capitol City.

In the first book Jack was discovering a whole new world and his place in this world, and this theme carried through to Earthman Jack vs. The Secret Army as Jack found his footing in the brand new environ of Capitol City, where politics reign supreme.

Jack is thrown into the divide between the warring families, the Evenstars and Skyborns along with the manoeuvrings of Directors. Jack is declared a hero, but suddenly he’s cut off from all his friends as well as his ship and he becomes increasingly aware that things may not be all they seem in the Princess’s Capitol.

Then there is Jack’s relationship with Anna. His crush has not abated, but the distance between them has grown as Jack makes a new friend in Kimlee. The Anna he’d come to know in their first adventure slowly disappears under the pressure of her responsibilities and being home. Is the Anna he fell in love with still there, or has he lost her forever?

Kadish brings in new characters, new aliens and a whole lot of new fun and adventure in this edition of the Earthman Jack series, as well as continuing to grow and add more depth to the existing characters.

There were some great twists and turns in the plot and the story itself was a page turner. I found myself getting invested very easily in what was happening, and I enjoyed Kadish’s style of writing – it’s easy to digest and captures emotion well, whether it be bittersweet partings, humorous dialogue or exciting action sequences.

I can’t wait until my son is old enough so I can read these to him as well – I think this is a series that can appeal across different age groups. Awesome read, thoroughly enjoyed it, and I’m absolutely looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received an ARC of this novel from Matthew Kadish [yay me!].

I was thrilled to receive and ingest this novel. I absolutely adored the first book in the series Earthman Jack vs. The Ghost Planet, and this new book did not disappoint. I laughed, I cried, I emoted all over the place while trying not to ruin the book for my daughters. Like any good roller coaster this book took you from highest highs to lowest lows with twists and turns that made you feel as though you might need a chiropractor at the end of the ride.

While this book is indeed a wild ride, Matthew did not forget that we read books as much for the characters as we do for their adventures. Jack grows and changes based on his experiences during the flow of the book. His friends, struggling against their better natures, also learn new things about themselves as the story progresses.

This series is really something special.

I will definitely read it [both this book and this series] again.

Review:  EARTHMAN JACK vs. THE SECRET ARMY

Earthman Jack is a true Flash Gordon for our time, [I'm referencing the original 1930's serials, not the 1990's films.] Despite being a 15-year-old boy without a planet or a father, Jack is strong, righteous, highly intelligent, and possessor of a magnificent code of honor and chivalry. Wherever he goes, adventure, tension, suspense, and death-defying duels are non stop. If you love superheroic science fiction, find it here.

In this second Earthman Jack novel, Jack and friends return to the Imperial Empire homeworld and Anna must resume her princess duties. However, the Deathlords aren't finished with them yet.

I really enjoyed this second novel and it went into such detail about the empire and its workings, as well as the backstory of the ancients and their technology. The characters are all wonderfully developed, except perhaps some of the bad guys who keep their motives close to their vest. The story is really involved in political intrigue, Deathlord maneuvering, imperial politics, and more.

The book is really long and the plot sometimes got bogged down in a lot of excessive telling that could be edited to make a bigger impact. But overall, there is a gem of a story here and it was a real treat to be immersed in this world again. You really feel for Jack and what he has to deal with when it comes to the bureaucracy of one of the largest empires in the universe. I'm really looking forward to the next book to see how things play out.

NOTE: I received this story for free in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a lot of fun to read, it had me laughing out loud through most of it. My only real issue with it is I felt like some of the side storylines could have been cut and it wouldn't have detracted from the plot at all. It was definitely a lengthy book that didn't really need to be. I felt like the beginning of the book was slow going and it didn't really pick up in action until midway through, but once the action finally picked up it was full steam ahead.

I really enjoyed how The Doctor showed up in this book - it was perfect and amazing! I would highly recommend this book and series to everyone. I can't wait to see what's next in store for Jack, Anna, and the ragtag group of misfits, along with the newcomers. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Mourdock. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I will just leave you with my final thought - I can't believe that happened! (Doesn't it make you just want to get this book to find out what I'm talking about :-) )

Earthman Jack is in Omnicron Prime, the capitol planet of the Galactic Regulus Empire. Jack and his friends and Princess Ann go their separate ways. Why? Jack finds it difficult being a hero and find out that life isn't what he expected on the planet. Politicians want Jack's spaceship. His relationship with Princess Ann has changed. A threat grows in secret from the Deathlords. It threatens to kill within the only thing that could kill the Deathlords. Jack knows about this threat but no one believes him. Will Jack be able to defeat the secret army?

There is humor in this novel. This novel reminds me of the classic space operas. You will find wit, neediness, and intelligence in the right spots of this story. The cliffhanger at the end of the novel has me waiting for the next volume!

Disclaimer: I received an arc of this book free from the author. I was not obliged to write a favorable review, or even any review at all. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

The second book in The Earthman Jack Space Saga by Matthew Kadish. One month after the first book ends, Jack and the rest arrive in Omnicron. But the trouble isn't over.

The book got a bit slow while world building and setting up for the climax. Then ends on a disgusting cliffhanger. Grr! And of course, I see no date for the next book to be out so I should lower my rating but I will be nice and not. The first half of the book really dragged for me. But I do understand the importance of building the world so that the reader understands what is happening and why. Once the story picked up and actually began, it was pretty good and exciting. I just hate that I have to wait for the next book and I read that there is supposed to be 5 more books to the series. I do recommend the series but you might want to wait until the entire thing is published.

A Good Long Book

I like books which are somewhat complex, and thought provoking. It's best when I can't read the whole book in one sitting, because there is so much depth of characters, situations, and action. Then I have to step away and absorb what I've read and think about it for a while. For me, such books are James Clavell's Taipan, Gai-Jin, and Noble House, neither of which are short books, or Orson Scott Card's Enders Shadow, or Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code.

Having said that, Earthman Jack vs. The Secret Army (Earthman Jack Space Saga Book 2) by Matthew Kadish, is such a book. Yes, you know the hero will win the day, but how will he do it? What pit stops, and pit drops will be in the way? Who will help him, and who will hurt him? Who is that person in the shadows? Who is the person in the spotlight? I have learned to care about these characters, and what characters they are, from the plotting fiends (yes more than one) and the plotting heroes, and heroines (again, more than one) and how they interact.

Have you heard that you will use speech used by people you admire? What does it mean, when a villain uses words the way Jack does?

The only thing I did not care for, and this is something Matt does well, most of the time, which is the inclusion of other Sci-Fi references, books, movies, bon mots, cliches, and the rest. This time, it was the inclusion of a visit by a Time Lord (you read and figure out which one.) My reason for not liking this visit, is that a co-mingling of those Jack's world and the Time Lord's bespeaks a question. Where was he, to save Earth in book 1, since Earth is his favorite planet, aside from Gallifrey?

Read this book, it will keep you involved, interested and wanting more (which is coming ... soon?).

Amazing second book!!

In finishing the second book in the series I'm hooked. I've enjoyed the pace of the setting as well as the details of what the universe is being shown. The characters are incredible and very likeable. Each growing and showing what they are capable of.

I can say I highly recommend this series and will be starting book three as soon as I finish this review. Great job Mr. Kadish!!

Watchman Jack Rocks!

Even better than the first book! I loved it. Mr.Kadish has literally brought Earthman Jack to life in this second story. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, and all the characters, but with this one, everything about the characters seemed to come to life. I can't wait for the 3rd book!

Another great story about Jack and his band of friends. He meets new friends, and finds new enemies in this story. This book has some amazing "easter eggs" from lots of other stories. Jack is growing up and learning more about himself and what he is capable of. He still stumbles along the way, and doesn't always trust the right people, but in the end he gets it figured out. Another great read.

I've had this one on my mind since reading the first in the series and finally got it read. Very entertaining, as was the first. Not your conventional sci-fi by any means, but well worth reading. Interesting characters and concept. Lots of fun, bravado, and action. Definitely leaves me wanting to continue with the series.

Just as silly as the first. An entertaining enough middle-grade book (although I suspect the number of middle-grade kids willing to read a 650-page book is vanishingly small). And much like the first, this novel is in dire need of a solid edit.

I’ve read quite a bit of sci-fi and these books are simply amazing. Book 2 reminded me a lot of Asimov’s foundation series.

So, my planet blows up and I have to go after the fuckers who did it, nearly die several times over but ultimately survive. And THEN when the entire debacle is over I have to have the wherewithal AGAIN to save the day???

I just finished 'Earthman Jack vs the Secret Army'.

This book was sent to me as an ARC by the author Matthew Kadish. It is a follow up to the first Earthman Jack novel, 'Earthman Jack vs the Ghost Planet'.

Last we saw Jack, Earth had exploded and he had just been through a fuck of a rough time through space with his new alien friends.

Now. Things are different.

Seeing as there is no longer an earth for Jack to go home to, he has to go to the Regalus Empire. A space congregation of all these planets and aliens under an emperor, who is Jack's lady love Princess Glorianna, or Anna, as soon as she turns 18. As soon as we set foot on the Capitol, things are a little bit awry. The story and slow reveal of the riduiculousness going on in Glorianna's empire was unfolded through just terrible events happening one after the other. This book has interesting depth. It follows this hapless, fool of a young boy. fucking around, trying to grow up, sharing his inane thoughts, but has this undercurrent of seriousness and just like grown people shit. This book involved power, politics, duty and responsibility while still managing to lapse into sheer ridiculousness with Jack and his friends.

There are a lot more characters in this book. Besides Jack's merry band of idiots from the last novel, there are loads more, in every interesting alien variety that exists. I like the descriptions of how different the aliens were. It is sort of lazy thinking to assume that all life is, or should be humanoid.

I liked that we got to learn about Anna, I mean, her Imperial Highness, the blood of the ancients, mAtriarch of legacy prime, and heir to the throne of the Regalus Empire, princess Glorianna. Overall there is a whole new dynamic. The story is much larger and there are more characters and more intrigue and a lot more action and crazy shit.

Jack still gives me the eyeroll of life. He is so hapless. It gets you on his side, how hapless and clueless he seems in the face of all this. He proves himself to have some sense, but he's so goofy, I can't sometimes.

This book is the second in a series and somewhat reads like it. The first novel handles introduction and lets us know whatever the main conflict is. The second book felt like a long buildup to what will happen later in the series, after the initial punch of the first novel, this felt like a wind up to what will again be another punch in the third.

I dabble casually in the world of science fiction, periodic Doctor Who marathons, and the like. I loved the shouts to popular sci-fi, it made the story fun. There is some real shit going on in the novel but things like asking for the answer to life the universe and everything and Jack being the corniest of clowns made the story light.

Ok actually finished this time.
Loved it but need to read the next 3 (was one book but was too large to stay as one book and has been broken to 3 sub stories). Wonder if the new doctor will appear in one of the later stories?

Kindle unlimited, but got #1 got from one of my freebie sites {though this and probably next book is ku}.

After his heroic battle against the Deathlords on the Ghost Planet, Jack Finnegan is looking forward to arriving at Omnicron Prime, the capitol planet of the Galactic Regalus Empire -the largest and most advanced civilization in the universe.Things are looking bright for Jack. He has his unconventional group of friends, his mystical spaceship, and the girl of his dreams -Princess Anna. Not to mention a secret mission that could save Earth and everyone he cares about. But things get complicated when he arrives at Omnicron. Not only is Jack uncomfortable being thrust into the spotlight for his courageous actions to save the universe, but he soon finds life in the Empire isn't everything he'd dreamed it would be.His friends abandon him to pursue their own interests. Greedy and cunning politicians conspire to steal his spaceship. Even his relationship with Anna is strained now that she's gone from being "the girl next door" to the most powerful woman in the universe.

But beneath all that lies a new and terrifying threat from the Deathlords. A threat that grows in secret, slowly spreading throughout the Regalus Empire like a plague, and it threatens to destroy from within the only thing powerful enough to stop the Deathlords and their malicious rampage throughout the galaxy -the Empire itself.Worst of all -Jack is the only one who knows about this new threat, and no one will believe his warnings.Suddenly, the Empire is no longer safe for Jack and his friends. Even the people they've come to rely on the most can no longer be trusted. As those he's sworn to protect turn against him, how can Jack hope to save the day?Fighting the Deathlords was one thing. Fighting the "good guys" is quite another. Will Jack be able to find the strength to be the hero the universe needs?Or will he finally be defeated by this Secret Army?

WOW!!! I don't even know where to begin. It took a genius to come up with the first book in the saga but an evil genius wrote this one. The sheer amount of awesomeness weaved into each page is enough to blow your mind. Then, there are the bad guys, evil masterminds working from inside to bring the empire to its knees. These guys are not only evil but they are also smart. Each character from the previous book have their own story-lines that intermingles with Jack's. New faces, new environments, new aliens, new villains, new adventures, this book is one heck of a ride. There's a also a lot of awesome references which had me grinning every time I picked up on one. The action scenes will leave you in awe; matter of fact, just when I thought that nothing could beat an aerial battle, Jack showed me just how awesome a hero can be, what with jumping out of buildings, saving damsels in distress, and just being Jack. Scallywag is straight-up gangstaaa, Grohm is awweesooomme, professor Green is still delightful, and Heckubus is on a whole new level. I could spend days raving about this book but to understand how mind-blowing it is, you have to experience it for yourself!!! What are you waiting for!!? This masterpiece is waiting for you to read it!!!

About a year ago I visited the Comic Con in Las Vegas and stumbled upon a both selling Earthman Jack vs The Ghost Planet. I was intrigued by the synopsis on the back of the book but decided not to buy it at that time. (There were some pretty cool Fallout props in the booth next to them that I really wanted) However, I decided to write the name of the book down just in case I wanted to read it later. About 6 months later, once I exhausted many of the books I wanted to read, I decided to pick up Earthman Jack for the first time. I was hooked right away. The book has everything a reader like me wants. It has comedy, action, drama, and a love angle. This is the new modern day space opera. It's a well thought out mix of Star Wars, Dune, and Firefly. The main character, Jack, is a funny, awkward, yet amazing character that is the greatest person Earth can ever hope to produce. The books have an angle similar to the Force but ultimately a lot cooler. I would highly suggest this book and the first to anyone who enjoys space, action, Pirates, aliens, Star Wars, and a love angle that will make you smile. Plus there's a Dr Who cameo that stunned me beyond words.

If you're looking for a decent book series for your high schooler or older middle schooler, this one is pretty fun. It will eventually be a 7-book series, but only the first two have been published. It's also clear in certain places that the first two books were self-published since no decent editor would let some of the more mediocre writing slip through the cracks - however, the story line is entertaining, the characters evoke emotion in the reader (I found myself rooting for the hero more than I usually do in books) and the overall messaging is good. It's even more entertaining to read them as an adult because it's blatantly obvious the author stole many of his characters from other pop culture sci-fi and fantasy works, ha! You'll meet his versions of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Obi-Won, C-3PO, R2-D2, Captain Jack Randall, Max Headroom and probably more I'm not thinking of. Heads up: I don't recommend this for kids who aren't allowed to watch PG-13 movies yet. There is some mild language and the hero has a genuine love interest, although his teenager brain is definitely aware of his physical attraction to her. Their actual interactions are very chaste thus far, though.

Although unavoidably this didn't have the huge impact of the first book, it's still a gripping continuation of Jack's adventures. The politics, especially toward the midpoint of the work reminded me a lot of the Galactic Senate from the Star Wars universe (what little of it I know) and the actual plot was fun to read. There were huge references to all sorts of sci-fi classics (including Dr who, which nobody does) so that was pretty nifty, and I must say I was impressed with Jack as a character because he's just so fun to read about. It's superb that Kadish has got things planned out, and I'm really looking forward to see where things go.

You must read this series. It's the most excited I've been waiting for a book to come out than I've been in several years. Fun, funny, quirky, serious, this series has engrossed me from the first page. And now, who KNOWS how long I'm gonna have to wait for the next one. If you don't like this series, you can go back to your "critics choices"
