For three years I kept a stranger’s love letters in my wallet. Then I woke up chained to his bed.
LARSEN
I get paid to hit people. Number eight, the Hounds’ enforcer, one suspension away from losing the only thing I’m good at. I’m sober, I eat dinner alone, and I stopped feeling much of anything a while ago.
The letters were the exception. Raspberry perfume, perfect handwriting, left in my locker after my worst games. Always yours, Shaly. I figured she was some shy girl in the cheap seats.
Shaly is a wall of tattoos and silver rings. His real name is Kusma Sokolov, and his family owns the south side.
I know what I did. I know what men like him do about it. When I woke up in that room, I asked him to get it over with.
He rewrapped my broken hand instead. He cooks. He asks before he touches me now.
I have never been so angry in my life.
KUSMA
I thought I was broken until a man tried to cave my skull in with a steel bar. Turns out I just have specific tastes.
Then I watched Julian Larsen knock a man’s tooth onto the ice, and I’ve been in love ever since. Three years of letters. Three years of being good.
Now there are people in this city who want him dead, and he seems fine with that. So I did the reasonable thing. I took him first.
He can hate me. He can hit me. Honestly, I’m hoping he will.
But he’s not leaving this room until he wants to live as badly as I want him to.

DOOMED is a dark MM hockey mafia romance with a stalker who falls first, captive/captor, an unhinged mafia enforcer who likes it when it hurts, a grumpy hockey player with a short fuse, age gap, and touch-him-and-die. Dual POV. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger. Book 1 in the Sokolov series, standalone. Dark themes and explicit content, including stalking, captivity, and suicidal ideation. Full content warnings inside.
Julian Larsen is a hockey player with a temper and a troubled pasts. Sometimes he feels like giving in but one of the only things that keeps him here are the letters he receives from Shaly. She's the only one who really sees him for who he is and her words give him the strength to carry on.
Kusma Sokolov is one of the heads of the local mafia and what Larsen doesn't know is that he is Shaly.
When Larsen is in danger from the Orlov's a branch of the Sokolov empire, Kusma kidnaps Larsen and holds him hostage. Kusma confesses to Larsen that he fell in love with him after seeing him play and get into a fight with a player from the opposition. Kusma is absolutely obsessed with Larsen and would do anything for him for him including keeping him locked up for his own safety.
Needless to say, Larsen hates Kusma and fights back any chance he gets, but the Russian starts getting under his skin.
This was a great read, following Larsen's developing feelings for Kusma, whilst also trying to resolve the threat posed by the Orlovs.
This book does contain a fair amount of blood and gore but also has some great spice. I highly recommend it. I can't wait to read the next book in the Sokolov Legacies series about Danila, the 2nd to youngest brother, from the hints given in the book, his love interest is someone who really rubs him up the wrong way 😉
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a great book. Mafia and hockey player. Larson is the hockey player that is always in trouble. He been getting notes from "Shaly" for 3 years. Kusma has been Mafia for a very long time. He is "Shaly". Kidnapping, blood play and pain is a very big part of their relationship, but it works for them . Truly did enjoy this book, cant wait for the next one.
