Be sure to read THE GATHERING, the first in the series, to avoid spoilers.
A damsel in distress... When Grace returns home to Texas for her big sister’s wedding, she thinks she has all her bases covered. She’s even hired a Scottish actor to play the part of her made-up boyfriend But if he doesn’t arrive soon, she may as well confess all, move back to town, and give in to the dark side of the family oil business.
A knight in plaid armor... As HIghlander or ghost, patience has never been Fitz Payton’s strong suit. To prove himself both brave and expeditious, he’s willing to finally leave the puddle of blood he lost on the moor 270 years ago. But when his feet find solid earth again, the first lass he meets brings his heart and boots to a standstill. He only prays he’ll be able to save his Grace before it’s time to bleed again.
GARETH is next.
A NOTE ABOUT THE SERIES: Although the individual stories of Culloden’s 79 need not be read in strictest order, The Gathering should definitely be read first to understand what’s going on between the Muir Witch and these Highland warriors from 1745. The Reckoning will finish the series.
An enjoyable read this book has no action but rather more family drama an secrets an light is shed on the prince the ghost wanted to get they revenge on unfolds.
Another ghost pushed forward to the front of the band of 79!
Eager to have Soni select him to get his chance at a couple of days to perform some heroic act that would earn him a time of reckoning with the Bonnie Prince Charlie. When he came to his sense of no longer being a ghost he was beckoned by a beautiful woman who assumed he was sent by an agency to play the part of her boyfriend so she could cover the lies she had told to her family trying to fit in where she never felt wanted. He thought his boon, his good deed was to stand as a buffer between her and her family, the Cunninghams a Clan he had reason to hate but found one, Grace Cunningham, he loved. He also learned from the enemy an important fact he failed to consider about Prince Charles, he was a boy trying to do a man's job! Well scripted, well done!
Payton is the 4th book in the series. Each book originates from the ghosts of 79 people who died at Culloden. However, each story is unique, and focuses on the specific ghost. Each ghost must complete a noble deed. Payton is whisked to Texas. Grace mistakes Payton for an actor she hired to pretend to be her boyfriend. Her family is harsh on her. I liked how Payton does an excellent job handling them. In his watching, he discovers a family secret which sets Grace free. This is my favorite of the series so far. The story is well written and interesting. The characters are well developed. Narration is excellent, I love the Scottish brogue. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Payton (The Ghosts of Culloden Moor #4), my fourth read from author L.L. Muir. My wife is a Scottish romance reader & sometimes the books she reads influence me. A well-written short read, 124-pages/3-hours in length. The best book of the series to date, I'll read more from this author, in this series, but what really got me going was narrator Andrew McDermott, I love his Irish brogue. This is my seventeenth listen from him. “I received a free Audible copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Fitzjames Payton wakes into mortality not in Scotland where he died, but in the heart of Texas! In Texas, where he is grabbed by Grace and thrust to face her oil-rich family as her date to her sister’s wedding. Throw in American football, clan clashes, bad family blood and egos the size of that large state and you’ve got the general idea. In the midst of it all as Fitz stands by Grace, will he learn a little grace himself?.

Soni sends Fitzjames Payton to Texas where he is mistaken for a hired escort for Grace, the sister of the bride. She had told her family her boyfriend was from Scotland and standing there was this gorgeous man in a kilt. Can he help her get through the wedding and not get panicked being around her family with whom she feels no acceptance? Will Payton get the opportunity to seek his revenge on Charles Stuart? Wonderful novella.
This is the fourth book in the The Ghosts of Culloden Moor Series, a Scottish Paranormal Romance. I loved Payton and Grace's story. I liked the humor, and the romance. The story is original, well written, and heartwarming. Andrew McDermott and Jenn McGuirk did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Gareth, the next book in the series.

Another great story in the series of the ghosts of Culloden Moor. This is book 4 and a standalone story of Fitzjames and Grace. It is Fitzjames turn to be offered the chance to do a noble deed to receive a reward. He arrives at a wedding in Texas and Grace thinks he is the actor posing as her date. I liked how the characters were described and how they fall in love. I could not wait to see how the happy ending was.

I loved this addition to the Ghost of Culloden Moor series. Payton is super loveable, the perfect hero for Grace. Grace's story is compelling. She's by far my favorite FMC in this series so far. While one narrator could do a very good southern accent, the other struggled but it didn't take away from the overall enjoyment of the audiobook.

I love Payton - he is a gentle soul and is saving Grace. I can relate to Grace I never belonged anywhere -especially with "the family" always out of place. Sadly there wasn't a Payton! Only in my prayers and dreams and those were never answered- so a wandering blithe spirit I am.
A Scottish Ghost in Texas! At first it was hard to wrap my head around how this story could possibly work out, but it held me firm right up to the wonderful ending! Our beautiful brave souls might not have gotten such a wonderful gift in the real world, but it helps to add a bit of hope where none had been before. Thank you!
How could he leave her, it would break both their hearts
Fitz had a chance to do something heroic, then claim his boon. Instead he wanted to make his lady happy, which was something her family never did. He watched her suffer through her sisters wedding and her parents humiliated her at every turn.
This was another great addition to the series. The character work and story line were well written and kept me entertained. Andrew McDermott and Jenn McGuirk did a great job of bringing this story to life and made this as fun to listen to as it was to read.
I received a copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Payton is one of the 79 ghosts who died at Culloden. Payton awakes in Texas. He meets Grace who mistakes Payton for an actor she hired to pretend to be her boyfriend. Her family is harsh on her. I liked how Payton does an excellent job handling them. He discovers a family secret which sets Grace free.
I liked the sweet tone of the book! more familiar and with a dramatic air. I think it is really nice to meet a different warrior and a unique female love in each book. I enjoyed this, the wirting and the narration. Can´t wait to meet Garret.

This is the fourth book in the series. You will want to read the first book, The Gathering, so that you get the background information. After that each one is a standalone. I am really enjoying this series. Each story is short and sweet with a HEA for our friendly ghosties. Will continue with the series.
Sweet, sweet man. I’m not much of a romance reader but these stories are so touching in their historical detail, modern perceptions, Culloden characters with old fashioned moral values and 18th century warrior physiques all wrapped up in magic.
Paton as a ghost is allowed to be human for a day or two to do a good deed and then let the prince know what he thought of him letting all those warriors die. Payton did his good deed but author L.L. Muir decided to have Payton fall in love.
These books... If you've read one, you know! They're poignant, emotional, tender, romantic, but also have just the right amount of mystery and humor. L.L. Muir is one of my new favorite authors, thanks to this series! ***Books are clean (no dirty language or sex scenes). Loving them!
I just simply love these books! This one was especially lovely. The main characters have you cheering for them against family snobbery and praying for a happy ending.
