Giovanna grew up in Essex with her Italian dad Mario, mum Kim, big sister Giorgina and little brother Mario, and spent most of her childhood talking to herself (it seems no one wanted to listen) or reading books.
At thirteen she left Essex behind to attend the full-time Sylvia Young Theatre School, where she met her husband Tom Fletcher. Following SYTS she completed an acting BA (hons) at Rose Bruford – since then she's been acting, chaperoning mini actors and dabbling in a spot of freelance journalism.
Giovanna is a firm believer in the power of magpies and positive energy. To see what makes Giovanna smile, view her blog at www.giovannasworld.com, or her Twitter page @mrsgifletcher
Out of all of Giovanna's books, Sarah and Brett are by far my favourite characters. I love the writing style in this book and the one before. I could read about these characters all day.
I absolutely loved Dream A Little Dream earlier this year, and had been looking forward to this Christmas sequel. My only fault with the this sequel, is that it was very short, and I would have happily kept reading it for a lot longer.
I honestly can't say if this will work as a standalone, as I really feel you should read the first one, as its brilliant, before reading this.
Sarah's dreams are back, are they are as bizarre as ever (although there is no space sex this time around!), there are a few slightly freaky dreams. Sarah has s very vivid and active sub concious with what it comes up with.
Brett has been acting a bit strangely and won't be drawn on their future, so Sarah starts suspecting the worst, especially after she compares their situation to that of their friends, some of whom are making big life altering announcements.
I had a gut feeling to why Brett was acting oddly, and although the outcome was arguable predictable, you will love the set up and reveal. Very romantic and the whole story left me with a huge smile on my face.
Dream a Little Christmas Dream is a sweet follow up to a great book, and if you enjoyed Dream A Little Dream I would urge you to read this, as it gives some fabulous closure, and who doesn't want to read more dreams?!
I had been saving this book until now for a Christmas read. This book is filled with so much cuteness and loveliness which is Giovanna's trademark. I love that with these shorts I can go back and re-live the sweet romantic relationship that bloomed in Dream A Little Dream.
This was insanely predictable but still so very annoyingly cute. My own weekly trivia night this Wednesday is definitely going to be dull in comparison.
We are back with Sarah and Brett yay!!! I really loved them and their group of friends in Dream a Little Dream, so I was excited to read about them again.
I enjoyed reading about snippets out of Sarah and Brett’s life. I still think they are a great couple. Sarah continues to have really weird dreams and Brett starts acting strangely, what is behind that?! She starts to question everything he does and is sure he wants to leave her.
As if this is not enough, her best friend Carly announces that she is moving out to be with Josh. Her and Carly have a really deep friendship and I think Giovanna captured that beautifully in this story.
Their legendary pub quiz nights play an important role in this book, which was great and so much fun to read about.
It’s obvious that Brett hides something, but I actually had an idea what it was and I wasn’t surprised in the end. I felt it was a little predictable. It was still a very great ending and a wonderful little story to read. I enjoyed every second of it. Giovanna has a real talent to engage the reader and create a gripping storyline. A warm and cute story that will definitely make you smile.
I read Dream a little dream earlier in the year and wasn't too impressed so didn't have high hopes for this but thought I would read it as I love Giovanna and wanted to give this novella a chance, I actually really enjoyed this story!!. I think it is always hard to write Novellas as they are so short that the story never gets going and they always seem lacking however this did not. One of my main complaints with the predecessor to this novella was that I felt Giovanna was trying too hard to be funny and it just annoyed me, however it didn't seem that way here it just seemed to flow naturally. I felt like I really connected with the characters more and this helped my over all enjoyment.
There was a lot of recap from the actual novel itself but I think this is because Giovanna wants you to be able to read this as a stand alone if you haven't read Dream a Little Dream, I felt the novella could have done better without all the recap but that really was my only fault with this one.
Overall a little gem of a novella and worth a read.
It was nice to hear from all the characters again and now know what they are up to in the future! The book spread romantic everywhere. It was cute and lovely to read. It also brought festive cheer to me and now I am even more excited for Christmas! Right now is the perfect time to read such a book!
It was so good to get back to this world and characters again. I just love the dynamic of the friendship group and the relationship between Sarah and Brett!
Although it wasn't that Christmassy themed compared to Giovanna's other novella, Billy and Me, it was still an enjoyable read which had me smiling lots, especially near the end, which was predictable but it was still great!
Definitely recommend for fans of Giovanna Fletcher and for those who have read Dream a little Dream. If you have not read that book you wouldn't understand what was going on very well. Although you could kind of figure it out, I would suggest reading the original novel first.
I love how Fletcher has released Christmas novella's for her past two books. Not only does it get me in the holiday spirit but also gives just a little more closure on the story. So this was a sweet look at where Sarah, Brett and the gang are over a year down the road. Really, really enjoyed this. Especially since the ending of Dream A Little Dream could have used a couple more pages.
Banale. Banale. Banale.
I wish I had listened to this at a better time! I feel like it was a fab book but one I just couldn’t appreciate given my head space at the time.
I barrelled through it with only half my brain on it, so the stars given it’s purely on me and not a reflection on the book whatsoever. If I was more connected, it probably would have been an easy high 4/5.
It was an effortless listen and a short hit of festiveness and a book after the first (Dream a Little Dream) which I found after some research and it’s my own fault I went into this without having read the first! Durp. So I didn’t quite have the background and rappeur with the characters if I had been introduced to them already in the previous. Loved Sarah and Brett though.
Definitely think I have to go back and read the first!
Firstly, I didn't realise this wasn't even a full length book, it was a 'novella' as they've called it 🙄 So I managed to read it in 1 evening, as opposed to spending my money on a kindle book that would see me at least through the week. Anyway, I guess it was a nice extra specially happy ending for the 1st book, but it felt a bit meh to me - nothing that great, nothing too awful. Overall, it was fine, but I'd say a little weak on storyline and characters, and the whole dream thing feels pointless tbh.
A very predictable novella. It kept me interested enough to read it over New Year Day, none of the characters were horribly annoying, and honestly, that's all I was hoping for.
It didn't made enough of an impression to make me feel like reading the series (I went in there knowing nothing about Giovanna Fletcher's books) but I'm pretty sure readers of Dream a Little Dream other books will appreciate this one more than I did.
The perfect sequel to a great story! Sarah and Brett are still together a year late however she’s started to notice that her friends are all moving on with their lives and she’s kind of stuck in the same place. She’s starts to have vivid dreams again but they become worrisome when they are hurtful or hurt her in some way and she’s also worried when Brett starts acting weird. Such a sweet story and I definitely loved the ending.
This book had me laughing and smiling throughout. Giovanna Fletcher is a super talented author and can bring all the festivities whilst keeping the writing really realistic to real life.
Makes you want to have all the amazing friendship groups and all have those special friendship traditions and do all the best things for your friends as well as families.
Lovely little short audiobook to listen to! My favourite one by far!
This is a nice little follow on from 'Dream A Little Dream', and I'm glad to have found out more of the story line, following finishing the first book. I will say however, I find Sarah's character slightly frustrating in that she is so quick to accuse but takes offense if it's ever the other way round. The ending is somewhat obvious, however expected of a Christmas edition so overall a quick and enjoyable read.
An alright read. The ending was cute, but not in the right mood for secrets which cause someone to second guess themselves. Although it turned out alright, I feel like its an overdone trope and not something which I enjoy.
This is been a perfect cost Christmas listen on audible. Narrated by Giovanna herself which I think helps! It’s been a tough year for vicars, and Christmas no less! So this was a perfect book for me to unwind to! Thank you!!!
Lovely to go back to Sarah and Brett, the crazy dreams, the great friends and the pub quiz! Cheesy, predictable but wonderfully written. Merry Christmas Mrs Fletcher..to you and your beautiful family and friends x
Wonderfully predictable but exactly the ending I wanted. I loved the proposal in the pub quiz and all the little details Brett wen to for Sarah to make sure everything from their friendships and relationship was included. a delight!

Cute little christmassy continuation of Dream a Little Dream. I have really enjoyed Giovanna’s books and do plan to reread them soon! She has a writing style that just flows and is easy to read.
