Sometimes You Need a Witch to Save a Soul

Rate this book
He’s a detective. She’s a witch. What if saving a soul costs them everything?

When a teenage girl disappears in Blackpool, Detective Sergeant Dan Kennedy finds himself with a case that refuses to make sense. The last people he wants to ask for help are also the ones he trusts most to see what he can’t.
Things between Dan and Detective Inspector John Spencer are still strained, but when the investigation begins to stray beyond anything ordinary police work can explain, Dan turns to John—and to Edith Postlethwaite.
Edith knows better than most that appearances can be deceptive. A missing girl. A handful of strange details. A trail that seems to lead nowhere. But nothing is ever as it seems.
As the search draws them deeper, the edges of the ordinary begin to fray. Old protections are weakening. Something is moving where it shouldn’t. And whatever has begun to reach into their world is interested in far more than a missing child.
John has faced things he once believed impossible. Edith has survived things that should have killed her. Neither of them is prepared for what comes next. Because there are places even witches should fear. There are things worse than death. And sometimes, finding someone is only the beginning.

Becs has done it again. The storytelling within this whole series is sensational. You feel like you are IN Thornhope and around all these characters. Such a wonderful end to a wonderful group of characters. I’ve loved watching them grow and seeing them all become more authentic versions of themselves and all of them find true happiness. If you haven’t read any of Becs’ books please go do it now.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book has kept me on my toes from the beginning! I love everything about it: the writing style, the characters, the setting, and yes—the goat.

I was hooked from the start, and I loved how the story kept me guessing. The writing pulled me into the world, and the characters made me want to keep reading. This is definitely a book that kept me invested, and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it!

Thank you so much for allowing me to be an ARC reader! I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to read this book and experience this story before its release.

The Thornhope series comes to a dramatic finale with Edith discovering a secret which has the potential to change her life but while trying to unearth the truth, the foe who has long been hiding in the shadows, finally makes a move. Can her detective and friends act before it's too late?

WHAT AN EPIC DAMN CONCLUSION

BRAVO!

I cried so many goddamn times in this book, I lost count. Saying goodbye to characters that felt like family, felt like home ripped my heart out and put it back again. An absolutely fantastic finally to a wonderfully written series I will forever love Nick, the goat, Kate, Dan, Edith and of course my perfectly grumpy but soft as butter heart John Spencer.

Thank you for this amazing series. If i could erase my memory and read it all over again, I would. Maybe Edith has a spell for that ?
