For years I've been trying to find a reference on capsule wardrobes, and each time I've searched I've been disappointed. Well not this time. Instead of being given some stereotypical rules, and photographs of what stylists think everyone should wear, this book motivates the reader to identify her unique personal style, and build a capsule around that.

Filled with worksheets and exercises designed to make you think about what you like, have, want and need, Heather's new book helps you think laterally about what you already have, and what might complement that in order to form a workable capsule with dozens of variations.

In my down time, I'm a sewer, and I love crafting statement pieces. However in work time I'm a busy professional, meeting many people and traveling frequently. I love beautiful clothes, but for work I also need a wardrobe that's easy to manage, versatile, lightweight, and quick to pack/unpack. By applying the guidance in this book, I've rethought my wardrobe, and am well on the way to having one with both flair, and function. Thank you Heather, for this excellent and easy guide.

“12 Simple Separates” is an essential book for those who - like me - are starting to understand the importance of finding a style of their own. Most women spend too much money, time and energy in garments that look awesome on the plastic bodies of store mannequins but don’t go at all with their lifestyle, skin/hair color or body proportions. Heather Claus comes to the rescue, helping us understand our needs and, from there, showing how to create our very own “capsule wardrobe” (kind of a a buzzword nowadays!) and finally find our personal fashion nirvana!

12 Simple Separates is a great guide to building a functioning wardrobe. The author gives you tools to help determine your style and wardrobe needs and then teaches you a great system that will see you through your week from work to play. She even addresses accessorizing! I loved this so much, I'm having my teen-aged girls read it before we do their back to school shopping to help them determine what their style is and what they need most. It's a quick and easy read and gave me the perfect amount of information as well as free downloadable worksheets. I highly recommend it!

Good book, but needs a proofreader

There are spots in the book where bad grammar and awkward wording made me need to read a sentence or paragraph twice. It does present useful information, and in a manner that's easy to understand though, so it's well worth the extra effort of getting through those technical errors.

How to plan your wardrobe! Genius!

This book gives you a concise guide to develop a complete wardrobe. Get the maximum number of outfits with the minimum of pieces of clothes. Look your best without wasting money on unnecessary items. The graphics were a great aid in showing the concepts.

Capsule wardrobes - the basics and beyond

The basic information in this book is good and timeless. I would have given this book a higher rating, but all of the links in the book are broken, so you cannot download any of the worksheets.

Might be better if the hyperlinks worked

I might change this review if I can find her worksheets. They are mentioned often and I assume using them would expand the information in this booklet considerably. As it is, the publication itself has almost no information.

Helpful for paring down closet.

I have an obscene amount of clothes with nothing to wear, so can relate to the premises in the book. Since reading (the book) I have gone through one closet, and planning to finish the job. I would recommend this book .
